Hi, I have recently purchased the theme which I am very happy with! I was wondering how it would be possible to display specific categories on different pages. So for example on one page (my main blog) I would only show posts that have been associated with the category ‘blog’ and on another page titled News, I would only show posts that have been associated with the category ‘news’. I am using the template ‘Vertical Blog’ Thanks Marcus

Hey Marcus,

thanks and sorry for a bit delayed response. The thing you are trying to achieve is supported by Wordpress and I guess the only thing you have to do is to add those “Blog” and “News” categories to your main menu. You can do this by going to Appearance > Menus, there you should find a box called “Categories” (if you don’t see it, then it might be hidden, make it visible by using Screen Option on the top of the page). Use “Categories” meta box to add category links to your main menu, once clicked those categories should only show blog post that belong to specified category.

Hope this helps.

Cheers, Vilius

Hi there again. I came back with some questions, most of them from my previous post.

-There were no updates for some time. Are we going to see something soon ? :) -I want to disable the native lightbox so I can use another plugin like Ilightbox. Is there any way to do this ? Right now I get 2 lightboxes on top of eachother. If I disable lightbox using the user.js thing I disable also the link that would make it possible to use third party lightbox plugin. Any workaround ?

-There are a lot of issues on mobile devices (especially on android). Main menu does not work on certain pages as the click area and menu locations get mixed up. Other ones are that a lot of grid portfolios types get all mixed up. It happens on native android browser or the ones based on it, but does not on Chrome (differed rendering engine I guess) -Would it be possible to have the option for the image captions to show up below or on top of the image in a portfolio. It would be more consistent with the theme, I think.

Hey,

I’m working on 2.3 version, but I can still see a couple of weeks before release. Also I’m going full time Fluxus in the next month, so expect quicker support and more rapid updates ;-)

Meanwhile try using something like this to disable the Lighbox:

(function ($) {
    $(function () {
        $('.gallery-link-file a, .project-image-link, .link-to-image').off('click.fluxus-lightbox');
    });
})(jQuery);

It should cleanly disable the Fluxus lightbox plugin, while your one should still work.

Regarding the Android, I’m aware of the issues and will try to solve them in the next version.

Regards, Vilius

Sorry about that. It worked but my browser cached the js and had to reload. Thanks again, it should do the trick.

Dear intheme,

Thanks for your responses. I have a question about the theme. This time I really cannot find a solution by myself. We would like to fully get rid of responsiveness. If you open the website on iPhone you only get the footer and header.

http://puurflow2.lefttworight.nl/

What can we do to make sure the website is shown as if it is shown as on a desktop computer? I know the visitor should than zoom in and out more, but that’s way better than showing no content at all.

I already tried to delete the content of responsiveness.css, but without succes. I hope you could provide us with a solution. Maybe integrate this option in Theme Options?

intheme

Hey,

you have to do two things:

1. Add following code to your inc/user.php file:

function remove_responsive_css() {
    wp_dequeue_style( 'fluxus-responsive' );
}

add_action( 'wp_enqueue_scripts', 'remove_responsive_css', 100 );

2. In the header.php file change this:

<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1, maximum-scale=1" />

into this:

<meta name="viewport" content="width=1060, user-scalable=yes" />

Should work ;-)

Dear intheme,

Thanks for the response. That is working fine. The last thing is that the footer is shown in the middle of the page on landscape format. I would like to make sure that the footer is shown fixed at the bottom of the page, instead of moving with the content.

I tested this on an iPhone. Do you have a suggestion to make sure the footer is not shown in the content if the visitor is not scrolling whole the way down to the bottom?

Hello! I have one question about facebook sharing of blog entries: there is sharing only default image of site (which I set in admin panel) at some entries… How I can get unique image of blog entry in Facebook share? You can test this for example on this page: http://www.nogachev.ru/2013/06/17/latelier-camelia/

intheme

Hey,

this will be already fixed in the next version. You can fix that yourself as well: in the header.php file change this line:

if ( ( !is_front_page() && !$fluxus_theme->get_image() ) && have_posts() ) {

into this:

if ( ! is_front_page() && have_posts() ) {

This will make your website use Featured Image (if it is present) instead of Facebook Icon. Also be aware that Facebook caches that image, you should use this tool to refresh the cache: https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug

Thanks! It works!!! And can Facebook share take description part from blog entry (now it takes from default site description)?

intheme

It should work, if you check this blog post http://inthe.me/demo/fluxus/pretty-blog-posts/ you can see that the excerpt of the post is used as Facebook description. Make sure you do this:

1. The excerpt of your post is not empty 2. In the Appearance > Theme Options the option “Disable Fluxus Meta Tags” is not active

Cheers, V

Hi! I bought this theme and love it. I have it all set up. How do I download and install the updated version of the theme? I’ve not done that before. Thanks!

intheme

Hey,

thanks, I’m glad to hear that. Updating instructions are provided in the documentation, you can find them here: http://inthe.me/documentation/fluxus/#how-to-update-theme-106

Hello again, thank you for answering my previous query. One more question. On the demo version, in the footer you have put extra wording on the right hand side next to the copyright, I would also like to do this but can only see a way of altering the copyright. So where you have: Images / Buy this theme / © Fluxus Wordpress Theme

I would like to replace “Images / Buy this theme” with something else.

Hi, loving the website so far. Just wondering, in the navigation menu can my sub menus be pages and not projects/portfolio? I’m trying to set up a hierarchy using pages. Thanks.

intheme

Hey,

Wordpress allows you to add any items into your menus and submenus. If you go to Appearance > Menus, on the left you will see different items that can be added to the menu in any order and hierarchy.

Again, a no brainer. didn’t realise I had to drag the menu bars to the right to make them as sub menus.

Vilius, I have two questions:

First: I am trying to embed a vimeo link into a blog and I can’t control the scale: it takes over the entire window every time the browser window scales up irrespective of the max width and max height item in the vimeo embed code. Any suggestion on how to restrict the max scale of the vimeo embed?

Second question: is there a way to include a text only item in the portfolio horizontal scroll? (same as you would in a blog post). Like in this example from the colr theme (4th item from the left): http://horizontalwp.com/preview/COLr/

Thanks.

First off, great theme. Question – rather than listing project types on the left vertical nav, is it possible to display specific projects instead?

Thanks!

Hello-

First off, I’m really loving this theme. I can’t wait to have it showcase my business proudly. I was setting up the contact form and I was wondering if there was any way for me to use the Google Maps marker and the text formatting that you use in the example. Also, are there recommended dimensions when using a featured photo behind the contact form?

Thanks!

-Tyler

intheme

Hey,

there’s a setting for that, on your contacts page look for an option called “Icon image URL”. Put an URL that links to a marker image and Google Maps will use it as a marker. In the demo page following image is used as a marker http://inthe.me/demo/fluxus/wp-content/themes/fluxus/images/map-drop.png – it might be a good idea to create yours based on a size of it. For better results make sure it is a PNG with transparent background.

Regarding the image size I suggest to use one with an aspect ratio of 16:9.

Cheers, Vilius

Default-user

Thanks for the icon. How can I format the text like the example? I really like the layout of having the intro on the left and the contact information on the right.

Thanks!

Default-user

I also have a couple more problems. How can I turn off the visibility of the page titles for the Contact page? My Appreciate and Share buttons have now stopped working, also.

Thanks!

intheme

Hey,

when you are editing your contacts page (a page that has a Contacts template assigned to it) any content that you add to your editor will get displayed in “intro on the left”. Down below your editor there is a section called “Contacts information” you can use it to add content to “contact information on the right”. Here’s a screenshot: http://cl.ly/image/3u241d0a0Y0c

You can hide contacts page title by adding following css to your css/user.css file:

.page-template-template-contacts-php .entry-title {
    display: none;
}

Regarding the Appreciate and Share buttons issue, it’s probably caused by some JS error, which may be caused by some modifications or plugins. Could you share a link to the page where they don’t work?

Best, Vilius

Default-user

Hello,

Thanks for telling me how to get the titles off. All is good there. The left content still seems to be off-centered with the right content, as seen here: http://www.magnetizemedia.net/blog/contact/ . Also, the Appreciate and Share buttons work again, magically. I suppose the last issue that I’m having is with the Homepage slider. I’ve tried to create the slider many times, but I can never get it to recognize the images inserted into the post. I upload them into the page, save the page, come back to the “Slider” page and it continues to say “No images were uploaded to current page. Please go to Insert Media tab and upload new images to create a Slider.” Is there a bug?

Thanks!

Tyler

intheme

Hey Tyler,

I can see that you’ve added your own “Hello” title, which is introducing the undesired padding. Try adding this CSS to fix it:

.entry-content h1 {
    margin-top: 0;
}

Regarding the slider I guess you’ve misunderstood the documentation. You don’t have to insert images into content, the only thing that you have to do is to upload new images to that particular page. Thus when editing your slider page (the one that has Full Page Slider set as a template) you should click “Add Media”, then upload new images and go to Slider tab. The images you’ve uploaded should be shown there ;-)

All is good. Thanks again!

Hi,

I absolutely love the theme, I’m completely redoing my website with it, but there’s just one thing…

Is it possible to make an individual portfolio the homepage? I want to create one portfolio with all my work and have it as the homepage, instead of the homepage just being a link to that portfolio.

Thanks. :)

intheme

Hey,

thanks, I’m pleased to hear that. Because of the limitation of Wordpress you can’t do that out of the box, but you could do that with a plugin. Other customers said that they had luck with this one http://wordpress.org/plugins/redirection/

The plugin is able to redirect your homepage to a specific page, in your case to a project.

Cheers, Vilius

Thanks,

I did think of doing that but I thought I’d ask to see if there was a more elegant solution.

Love the theme! I just updated to v1.2.3. Just wondering if there is a glitch or not, but I’m not able to get the vertical blog template to work. I have changed it in my Blog page under the template drop down, but to no avail. Am I missing something?
