got it… looking into the instructions now…
I’m looking to find the easiest way to include Google Web Fonts into this theme? I want to only change Headers/Body Content of posts. I don’t want to change navigation links/side bar links only regular text with fonts from that library.
Like I want my headers to be UBUNTU and my body content ROBOTO
My website is here: http://www.lightleak.ca/wordpress
thanks for any tips, loving the theme best theme I ever purchased for my portfolio thanks.
Hi Matt,
thanks for the good words. Since this is not the first time I get this question, I’ve just wrote an answer to the FAQ.
Here it is
http://inthe.me/documentation/fluxus/#how-to-change-fonts-96Let me know the instructions are clear
Cheers, Vilius
I’m still waiting an answer. I really don’t want that my photo change proportion inside the portrait galleries. Thanks.
Hi,
so I suggest you to do the following:
You are using 1.0.3, there is 1.0.5 already available. Update your theme to 1.0.5 by downloading again from ThemeForest. Then you should remove your css modification, the theme should work fine without it, all the images should be without any distorsion. If that is not the case, let me know and I’ll surely fix it.
Cheers, Vilius
Is there any best practice on how to upgrade the theme? Or is it just to ftp and replace the files that are in place?
Hi,
so my recommendations are:
1. If you have not changed any theme files, then just replace everything. The fastest way.
2. If you have modified update safe files, then replace all files except for css/user.css js/user.js inc/user.php
3. If you have edited theme core files, then can replace everything and redo your changes. In the future releases I’m going to include changelog, which will show the list for files that were changed since the last version. So power users can even compare the changed files with their modified versions and manually incorporate the changes into theirs modified files.
Method two is the favorite
Cheers, Vilius
@phila54, Vilius (the theme creator) posted somewhere that he will create the zip option in a future release… Do not know if is the best practice or not, but I always change the wordpress theme, delete the old version, upload the new one and add the user.css and change the theme back.
Hi,
yes, you are right. If you use zip file to update your theme, then be sure to have your user.css/user.js/user.php files copied in a safe place.
Regards, V
Hi, Congratulations for your template. Are you planning on a way to insert video in the portfolio ? Thanks for your feedback
Hi,
thanks, I’m working on it already. We’ll see it in the next major release
Cheers, Vilius
Hi i notice that a lot of people want to put some videos from youtube/vimeo on the portfolio, and i also wondering if this is going to be posible, And if is posible when do you think this is going to be ready?, i already follow you on twitter. Thanks
Hi,
this was a very pleasant surprise. I was focusing for photographers, that’s the reason why I didn’t include it in the first place. This is the most requested feature, so I’m doing my best to deliver it asap.
Cheers, Vilius
Problem with contact form 7. It was working initially on version 1.0, but when I upgrade to newest version, it is not working.
www.studiojk.com/fluxus/
Thanks for help in advance.
Hi,
it works perfectly for me. Is there any specific browser?
BTW. Try including this into your user.css file. Your homepage navigation will become more useful
.slider-navigation a { border-color: #eaeaea; }Cheers, Vilius
It was on Chrome, but I think it was cache file that cause the problem. After deleting all history & cache data, it works perfectly. Thanks for your help and I am going to use the line above. Thank you!!!
Good to know ; )
OK, first off- it’s a great theme! i love it, it’s clean and simple , well done. i uploaded some of my pictures (yonieyal.com) and some change proportion and some don’t. all my pictures are very big (3500 px and more). what should i do so that my pictures don’t get stretched on the website?
another thing – in order for he slider to acknowledge new pictures i have to upload the pictures only from the homepage page ? because i uploaded some pictures directly to the media gallery- and i don’t see them on the slider tab , only see them when i upload
Hi,
could you be more specific? I need to know which images are stretched and which browser are you using and how big is your screen. I see that you use the most recent version so the stretching issue should be already solved. Thanks.
On the Full Page Slider, you have to upload new pictures to see them in slider. I guess you’ve already figured that out.
Also few notes:
1. Logo. Remove white space from your logo (the white margin). It will look much better.
2. You should optimize your photos. Try reducing the JPEG image quality to 90% and if you’re using Mac, you could seamlessly reduce the size of your image with this tool http://imageoptim.com/ before uploading them to your website.
Cheers, Vilius
Hi Vilius , thanks for the tips, i’ll work on the logo. regarding the picture size – i was mistaken, the proportion is OK , the problem is size of the picture. given that the pictures don’t automatically resize to fit the screen – what sizes should i use for landscape and portrait orientation ? i’m working with photoshop so i change the size to whatever is best- i’m using two computers to check the site- a mac with a 1440900 screen size and a windows one with 1366768.
Hi,
I don’t get which website section are you talking about.
1. Images in Portfolios – they get automatically resized, so any image would do.
2. Full Page Slider – the default option is crop, so it will crop top and bottom of the image if user’s screen has different aspect ratio than the image uploaded. But you can change that, in the slide options there is an option called “Image Scaling”. You can choose: crop top, crop bottom, crop top and bottom and fit image.
Still I don’t really know if I answered your question, so if I’ve missed, don’t hesitate to ask again : )
Cheers, Vilius
Pre Purchase question.
I really like this theme, but i must know if i can have two, or more, different portfolios at the same time, with different galleries into them.
This is very important because i must change my actual theme.
Hi,
I can give you an example. At the moment you can have the following menu structure:
1. Personal Portfolio 1.1. Landscape 1.2. Portraits
2. Professional Portfolio 2.1. Commercial 2.2. Product Photography
Clicking Landscape, Portfolio, Commercial or Product Photography will open an filtered portfolio where all projects will be from the chosen category.
Although clicking Personal Portfolio or Professional Portfolio will open a portfolio with all projects. Which means you will see projects from Landscape category as well as projects from Commercial category.
Is it suitable for you?
Cheers, V
Thanks for your fast response.
I think that i understand you but not at 100% sorry, english is not my mother languaje.
Example: Can i have 2 portfolios, personal and professional for example, with no sub menus, and different entries into them, in horizontal portfolio mode? And clicking into personal or professional appears only the projects from that portfolio?
Thanks in advice and sorry for my English
Hi,
now that’s a very specific question. The answer unfortunately is no. You create portfolio projects and they are all displayed on portfolio page. Currently there is no way to create two portfolios and assign projects manually to them.
Cheers, Vilius
Thanks again,
thats a pitty that you cant add that function to this awesome theme, i know that in other themes you can show 2 different portfolios with different galleries. The theme that i’m using ( http://goo.gl/o2ldX ) can do that actually.
Anyway, i think that i going to try this
Good work.
Hi,
I’m not saying that I can’t add this. In fact I will
Just give me a few days ; )
Cheers, Vilius
Great news
Hi Vilius, how are you?
First i wanna say: Fluxus is an incredible theme. When i saw it, I realised with a good shock that the theme was perfect to my portfolio. So, let`s go with the questions before the purchase!
1) There is a possibility for implement a masonry portfolio? Like this: http://www.spaceheadconcepts.com/ablaze/.
2) How i can fix this problem? The image only stay in fullscreen after I go to the next image: http://www.screencast.com/t/a8eTvEkDk6y
3) You know if i can use your theme with the plugins: Before-After Viewer (http://codecanyon.net/item/beforeafter-viewer-wordpress-plugin/242226?ref=stevekamn) and WPstickies? (http://codecanyon.net/item/wpstickies-the-premium-image-tagging-plugin/2796237)
Thanks for the help and have a nice day. Great theme!
Augusto Gottsfritz
Hi Augusto,
thanks for the good words! I’m very busy updating the theme with new features at the moment. So here it goes:
1. Grid Portfolio is not based on widely used masonry plugin, so you can’t really get the “pinterest effect” without customizations. I may consider making it if there are more requests.
2. That’s a big monitor! Thanks for the screencast, your issue was super clear. Actually the correct behavior would be not to upscale images, this will get fixed in 1.0.7.
3. I haven’t used the plugins, but they seems to be self contained, so they should work just fine.
Thanks for feedback! Cheers, Vilius
Hey man I’ve been trying to get your attention for a few days now. I can’t figure out how to add a full page slider onto the site. after I upload the media I have no idea where to find the “slider tab” and “slide options” please help.
http://notafraid2fail.com/Hi,
have you read the docs? Here’s a link to the section that describes how to do it http://inthe.me/documentation/fluxus/#full-page-slider-25
You should also read the Getting Started section, as I can see that you’ve missed one point.
Let me know how it goes.
Cheers, Vilius
buying this immediately after video is implemented… being a photographer, like a lot of commercial photographers, I also direct music videos, and do video shoots as well.. It’s nice to be able to show off the video portfolio.. absolutely in love with this theme… bravo
Hi,
leave the bravos once I publish the video support ; ) You could follow @in_theme to get notified when the video support is available.
Thanks, Vilius
@notafraid2fail – I think he has answered your question a few times, but the first thing you need to be aware of is that even though the images you want in the full page slider may currently be in the media library, you will not be able to use those.
(1) decide which images you want in the slider and actually UPLOAD them to the media library once again.
(2) once the images have been uploaded, if you look in the left frame of that active window, you will see “Slider” as the bottom option on the left.
(3) click on Slider and the images you just uploaded should appear
(4) you will need to show details of each image and in the least click on the “Publish” checkbox and then SAVE.
(5) if you have reordered how the images will appear in the rotation, you need to SAVE image order as well.
Once this is done, you should be able to get back to your page for the full page slider, update the page and then see the results on the web.
I am literally typing this from memory, but I think its pretty close to exact.
Brilliant! Would you consider joining the support team : D
On the other hand it shows that no one likes to read the docs and I should add some explanations to the Admin UI.
Thanks again! Vilius
I would help out for sure. One of the things I found in another theme that I completed for one of my clients was to have the demo site also have “sample codes” included because people don’t like to read the documentation.
Let me know if you want more info on that as I think I still have the theme somewhere that has the code samples in the demo.
Hi,
I’ve tried to include shortcodes this way. But for other things I think it will mess up the demo verion, so I’d rather focus on more intuitive UI, integrate more explanations, or even integrate basic getting started into the theme itself.
Thanks for suggestion though!
Regards, Vilius
Hi,
Just wondering… How hard is it going to be to modify the theme in order to make it RTL (Right-To-Left), so that the portfolio description will be on the right side, the photos will scroll from right to left, and the “Like this project?” box will be left side?
I managed to make it partly-working by changing a few CSS values with Chrome’s “Inspect Element” module (on your demo site) but I was hoping for an official option so it will not interfere with future updates..
Hi,
I’ve never did anything with RTL, so it is difficult for me to say. There’s probably two issues:
1. You will need to realign everything to the right. This will require decent knowledge of CSS.
2. Scrolling from right to left is will require you to adjust some parts of JS.
Unfortunately I think that making the theme RTL would require quite an amount of modifications.
Regards, Vilius
will the theme be updateable through the wp interface any time, or do I have to upload and over write all the files?
Hi,
do you use Envato Toolkit plugin to update the themes on TF? If so, then you should be already able to do so.
Cheers, Vilius
I really love this theme so far! I just installed it and have been working on the home page using the full page slider. I love the full page slider, but I am not a fan of the way it crops my images on my 23” screen. Would there be any way to have an option when setting up the slider to not have it crop the images? I uploaded the images as 1500×1000 but the top or bottoms of images are getting cut off and most of my images tend to fill the frame. I may have to keep that in mind when shooting in the future. Any help would be great!
I did also notice that I my iPhone5 there is a transparent white bar going across the images. I am not using the info boxes and this does not show up on my ipad or my PC
Thank you,
www.karp13.com
+ the images in the documentation do not show up.
Hi,
thanks for informing about the documentation images, it’s updated now.
So I guess your monitor is quite wide and not that high, that’s the reason why your images seem cut to you. I am aware of this, this is the reason why I’ve added image align option. Maybe you could try changing it to see if you get satisfying results. For example if you set TOP, then your top part of the images will always be shown, while the bottom will get cut, if there’s not enough screen space.
Other thing is that I’m about to include “fit option” in the full page slider. So you will be able to see every part of your photo in the full page slider. Although there will be white padding around it. In the end, I’d personally still stick to the cropping option, since it gives much better first impression. But feel free to use what you feel is best.
The update will come tonight or tomorrow.
Also I’ll take a look at the iPhone 5 issue and let you know how to solve it.
Cheers, Vilius
After really looking at the site and tweaking the CSS I did decide that the cropping looks way better than having the image “fit” the screen. Thanks for looking into the iPhone5 issue.
I was actually able to get the white stripe across the slider in my browser on my PC also. If pull the width so the window is narrow the white band shows up on the PC just like the iPhone5.
Hi,
you are right! The stripe appears when there is no content, it will get fixed in 1.0.7.
I see you’re using brand new automatic slideshow : )
Cheers, Vilius
I uploaded file to the hosting server and I activated theme. and there is nothing. I am really beginner. so please let me know how I can make the website as seen in demo page.
Hi,
thanks for purchasing. First step for you is to check the documentation that comes with the theme. You can also find it online – http://inthe.me/documentation/fluxus – which is usually a bit more up to date version.
After completing Getting Started section of the documentation your website won’t look empty any more.
Let me know how you’re doing.
Cheers, Vilius
Enhancement request: In the project options, I think it’s a great idea to have the “Project External Link” as an option, especially for photographers showing Tear Sheets and for other reasons as well. In order for me to use this feature though, I would want to freedom and ease of using either/both the “rel=nofollow” and/or target=”_blank” options in the least. If I had to choose, for me the more important of the two is the target=”_blank” to have the link open in a new window instead of taking the user away from my website.
Interested in other’s thoughts…
Great!
I should consider making special “link control”, which would allow to set the settings requested or even more.
We’ll see how it goes! Thanks, Vilius
First off, love the theme. Clean yet full of great features that don’t undermine the look.
Second, I wanted to know if its possible to create one portfolio that automatically is populated via instagram? Or maybe there are plugins that might seamlessly integrate? I know instagram kills the resolution on pics so they would only load to size, kind of how instagram does it themselves. A horizontal 3×2 grid that populated with intagram stuff would be perfect!!
Hi,
I was actually thinking about it. As my guess was that photographers tend to play with instagram on the daily basis and their photos might get quite interesting. There are plenty of plugins that does that, but seamless integration is always nice
I have to finish with video portfolio first and then think about funky options : )
Cheers, Vilius
