hi Mike, i was just looking at icomoon html5 app to change an icon in the upper left of the focus theme and noticed that they don’t correspond to the icons your using in the theme.

is there a mapping or reference that corresponds to what your using?

for example if i put ’!’ i get ‘G+’ icon and not the ‘home’ icon like i see in icomoon’s html5 app ?

cheers, brian

Hi Brian,

Sadly not, I lost a bunch of work when my PC died.

However, I am looking to update the icon set, and move other to a more semantic solution. Can you confirm what icon your looking for.

Many Thanks

hi Mike, thanks for the quick reply.

i was looking at http://icomoon.io/app – and the icons that would correspond to:

! (which is a home icon)

” (which is a device iPhone/ipad looking device icon)

cheers, brian

No problem, I am going to be creating a set from http://fontello.com/ but will include a home / device icon.

The syntax is a lot easier to use that way, and doesn’t mess up screen readers. :)

I love this theme, but I not buy it because I miss infinity scrolling.

Adjust post width would be nice too, when you post vertical photos in wide width is difficult to see the full photo in most of monitors.

mikedidthis

Hi Vitorsa,

Sorry to hear that. Sadly I won’t be adding infinity scroll to the theme, as I believe you should always have a working back button.

However, you can modify the theme to work with infinite scroll if you don’t mind not having a working back button.

And yes, I agree this can be an issue, but I haven’t arrived at a comfortable solution for this.

Many Thanks

Hi Mike,

Greate theme! I was wondering if it’s possible to change the width of text posts? And whether you can add an rss button to the social sharing icons?

Thanks.

great! it works nicely. Just one more thing that I forgot to ask :)

On the twitter feed, is it possible to have more than just one tweet show up on the sidebar? I’d like to have the last five tweets show up

mikedidthis

Hi koschti!

Sure thing, added a support document explaining the process here: https://mikedidthis.desk.com/customer/portal/articles/759514-increase-amount-of-tweets-shown

Let me know how you get on,

Many Thanks

Cool, thanks Mike!

I haven’t purchased the theme yet, but I’l like to know if I will be able to change the background image. Also, does the theme support typekit or Google web fonts?

Thanks,

mikedidthis

Hey Marian,

With Focus, you can change the background image.

Google Font support hasn’t been added yet, but as the theme uses Google Font, plenty have changed what font they use, and I am happy to advise.

Many Thanks

Mike

Hi, First of all thanks for the update to the theme. I downloaded it and am having one issue with the instragram intergration. Even after authourizing the jqinstapics app it is not displaying my api key where it says it will. I tried it both on Firefox and safari. Have you encountered this problem before?

Thanks!

mikedidthis

Hey.

Sadly I haven’t and its not really a feature I use too much. I can ask the author if you like?

Many Thanks

Mike

Hi, is there any way to remove the lines between posts and make the gaps between smaller?

Awesome theme btw

mikedidthis

Hey!

Glad you like the theme. Yes, its possible. If you send me a message with how big you want the gaps, I will create a support article with the custom CSS .

Many Thanks

Mike

Sent you an email :)

Thank you Mike for a beautiful theme. One question about photosets.

Is there bits of code I can add so photosets supports swipe?

That’s what everyone do when I show them my site on a phone / tablet. When swipe doesn’t work people are just completely lost.

Thank you.

Mike,

Thank you for your prompt reply. An alternative lightbox is exactly what I need. I’ve found the line where you link to view.js but wasn’t able to find an alternative that would support swipe. Do advice.

Thank you.

I’ve found a lightbox alternatives, FRESCO . Do advice on how I can install this with your theme. http://www.frescojs.com/

I have uploaded the files on to my server, but not sure where I should be changing in your theme.

I’ve noticed how captions of individual photos don’t show up in view.js within a photoset. Captions only appears on mouseover. Please advice.

mikedidthis

Hey Atashijp,

Thank you for the replies and the link to: http://www.frescojs.com/

Your correct, captions currently aren’t supported, but will be added in the next update. I added them in Mason, and they seem to have worked. As mentioned I add features to one or two themes, and if successful add them to all themes.

As for Fresco.js, it looks nice, but I will have to test it before I include it, as the support for IE8 seems lacking. (It uses media queries for IE8 , but these are only supported in linked CSS files, which Tumblr themes don’t use).

Can you email my support desk: support@mikedidthis.co.uk so I can track the issue better, the comments on ThemeForest seem to get fragmented.

Many Thanks

Mike

SOCIAL SHARE ON TOP PAGE :

I can see the “share post” button once I hit the permalink from the top page, is it possible to show the “share” button on the top page (along with permalink, time, comments etc)?

I would also like to have disqus showing on the top page. (without first clicking on the Permalink)

Please advice.

mikedidthis

Hey again!

Tough one, as mentioned before Tumblr doesn’t provide a consistant post description on the Index Page, so social share was only added on the Permalink page, where a description is generated. To clarify, the shares generated on the Index Page only have the permalink URL and the blog title, nothing more, which is standard on Tumblr themes.

I have how ever in the newer themes, worked out a way to generate my own post descriptions, and allowed social sharing on the Index Page. It seems to have gone down well, and will be ported to all my themes, but there is no ETA for this.

If you really need social shares on the index page, the best thing to do is to remove the {block:Permalink} from around the social share stuff and you can have shares on the index page.

If you send me a message via my profile page, I can create a support article detailing the changes you need to make until I get time to update the theme.

Many Thanks

Hi Mike,

I’ve been sending emails asking for help and they’ve all bounced back to me due to some error that I don’t comprehend.

I’ve purchased another theme of yours, Forest, and I’m really liking it. One thing I want to ask you is how to reduce the size of the posts being displayed so big – especially the vertical (portrait) & square images. I’m fine with the size of the landscape images.

My tumblr address is http://chuckandchelsea.tumblr.com, and some of my images are blown out of proportion and they look a bit blurry. If you can point me to which line and what code to adjust, at least I can do so even though I’m horrible at html.

Also, how can I adjust the blog description font size to a size or two bigger?

Please help. Thanks. Lou

mikedidthis

Hi Lou,

Sorry for the delay, I am currently on a family vacation, and getting a decent internet connection is proving difficult.

Also totally agree with vertical images, and I plan to resolve this with the next update. I believe using vertical media queries to cap the height an image can be should do the trick.

Sadly the update will not be out for a few weeks, but would you be interested in being a beta tester for me?

To change the text size of the description, follow the instructions here:

I hope that helps. Regarding the images, send me a message / tweet if your interested in testing the next update.

Many Thanks

ADJUSTING VIEW .JS / CAPTIONS for individual photo in Photoset.

The implementation of the view.js here seems to have taken out view.js’s “transition”, “shadow”, as well as “comments on individual picture”. http://finegoodsmarket.com/view

I’d very much like each photo to have it’s own captions. Transition effect, shadow will be a plus.

(for the time being until I can replace view.js with a lightbox that supports swipe)

Do advice.

Thank you for taking the time.

Samson

mikedidthis

Hey again.

Yes I have only done a bare install of view.js transitions / shadows etc slow down Android browsers, and I wanted to have the lightbox as usable on as many devices as possible.

As mentioned, can you message me at: support@mikedidthis.co.uk to continue to update the lightbox?

I am hoping to have some time tomorrow to test the new lightbox, and your help / testing would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks

Mike

I have found a theme with a lightbox that actually works and show captions for individual photo. I would very much appreciate it if you could help me implement the lightbox script with your theme. Thank you.

mikedidthis

Hey!

Sure thing. I am currently working on Focus now! Photo captions are in. Can you link to the theme with the lightbox you like.

Many Thanks

Mike

Any luck of getting linked in added to a future release? I tried finding the IcoMoonRegular font spec for it, but could not locate it.

mikedidthis

Hi Chris.

Yes, I have LinkedIn in the next theme update. I am currently waiting for responses from testers on some photo replacement changes that have been added (Max height on vertical images etc).

Once signed off, I will release 1.9.

Thanks for your patience.

Regards

Mike

hi man, tried to email you regarding the css change but it bounced.

Also would it be possible to make it so that images posted show up in a grid format, with just the images similar to general portfolio sites.

mikedidthis

Hey!

Yeah I think I have had a few issues with my emails. Try: support@mikedidthis.co.uk

I am not 100% sure in what you mean about images and grid? The theme supports Photoset Grids?

Many Thanks

Mike

Hi Mike, I just purchased this theme, however I’m getting an alert window saying there is a theme update on themeforest. Where do i find future updates?

thanks

mikedidthis

Hey Andre.

No need to update. Theme Forest accepted 1.8 whilst I was sleeping, so I hadn’t had chance to update the version list.

If you have 1.8 you got the latest version :)

Hey Mike,

I noticed that unchecking “disable image stretching” doesn’t do anything. For some reason my theme stays stretched.

See here: rolandkan.tumblr.com

Please advise

mikedidthis

Hey Roland!

Hope your well.

Firstly, upgrade your theme to version 1.9. That will resolve any issues with stretching.

Secondly, just to note disable image stretching only applies to images that are low resolution. 500px or less.

Upgrade, and everything will be resolved, plus so nice new features!

Many Thanks

Hi there,

1) I am trying to find a way to expand the width of post body. Could you please provide some insight on this?

2) Additionally, I am hoping to expand the images I post in a text entry. Is there a way to modify this via CSS ?

Thanks so much!

mikedidthis

Hi efgpr.

1) Could you clarify this for me? Do you mean you want the text of the posts to expand the full width (So it matches the images / video?).

2) Sadly Tumblr limits any images you upload into a text box (via the Editor) ti 500px wide. The only option would be to upload images to another source, include the image link, and then add some custom CSS to expand these out of the content box.

Many Thanks

Mike

Hey Mike,

I was wondering if there is anything i can do to this theme to make it look it better as a portfolio, i am not the biggest fan of how the images show. I love the theme as a whole.

Is there any way to make them show in a grid style so they are all individual posts. like in this theme http://www.kriesi.at/themes/angular/

mikedidthis

Hey!

Sadly not. It would require a huge amount of CSS work to get the posts displaying in a grid like pattern, as its not the intention of ‘Focus’.

Sorry.

Regards

Mike

Mike,

1) Well, ideally, I’d like titles, images and text to match up in terms of width. But what I am more interested in is expanding the width of the post body area overall. Any way that I can just modify this through the backend?

We can continue this correspondence on email if it’s easier for you. Thanks!

mikedidthis

Hey Efgpr,

Thanks for the insight. You can modify it with Custom CSS . Could you mockup how big you want the design to be, and send it to support@mikedidthis.co.uk.

That way its easier / quicker for me to track issues / changes etc.

Many Thanks

Mike

After updating to the latest version permalinks, reblog, etc does not work.

Am I missing a setting?

impossiblyawesome.com

Thanks!

mikedidthis

Hey AM33 ,

You may need to set the settings again, depending on what version you upgraded from, as some of the wording has changed.

Once you have installed the new theme, please refresh the customisation page to see the new options.

Many Thanks

Mike
