Hi I have tried to install the Foxy theme to my wordpress but it has failed. Please see the message below. It said to install with the zip file which i did but it hasn’t worked. Any advice please? Thank you

Installing the theme…

The package could not be installed. The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet.

Theme install failed.

WPExplorer

Please have a look at the support tab – http://themeforest.net/item/foxy-portfolio-responsive-wordpress-theme/4630606/support

You just have to make sure you are uploading the WP zip only and not all the downloadable files. Please let me know if you still can’t figure it out.

Thank you for the purchase!

I’m looking to use site with two portfolios, is that possible? I know you can sort by categories once in the portfolio, but I’d ideally want to have 2 portfolios (2 different artists) and then still have then the functions in both of ‘Browse Categories’ (Branding,Designs,Icons,Logos). Thanks in advance.

WPExplorer

With this theme it isn’t possible by default. The main issue is because the links link to the categories themselves it would be very complicated to define a different filter on each taxonomy page. If it was using a jQuery filter though it would be a different story.

You could always just disable the filter at the top of the portfolio and portfolio categories, then just have a drop-down in the main menu for each artist?

Hi I have uploaded the Foxy Theme. It says in the documentation that i should see the site live when clicking ‘visit my site’ but instead i only see the index.html page i have uploaded through FTP. What files should i load onto FTP in order to see the theme and changes when i enter my web domain? Thank you

WPExplorer

I’m really not understanding the question, sorry ;(

You should be uploading the entire theme folder to your server’s wp-content/themes/ folder before you activate it via your WordPress dashboard.

There isn’t any index.html within the theme…there shouldn’t be any .html files actually.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I actually had put an index.html awaiting to be able to build my site. I have now put the theme folder in the wp- content folder but i had already activated the theme as i got a bit confused with the host set-up and mixed up a few things. This means that although i ave loaded the theme in wp-content I still now see the index.html i had previously loaded although i deleted it. WP let me upload the data files… and seemed to work fine but i can’t see it on the domain. Should I desactivate the theme and re-activate it again? If so how can i do this? I hope this all makes sense. Thank you for your help.

WPExplorer

I’m not really sure I understand everything that is going on…If you can’t figure out how to install the theme you can contact me via my profile page with your WP logins to assist.

Hi, I have a few questions. Although I have selected slider in the homepage it is not appearing at all. I have also gone into the slider menu and made sure everything is enabled but it does not appear. I also enter information in the tagline but it does not appear in the homepage. Any suggestions please? A quick customisation question, I wondered if it is possible to just have a white background without the textured feel of the page, just plain white? And any chance of removing the icons (like home icon) on the menu? Also, can all the links that appear on the right side of the page be removed? Thank you for your help.

WPExplorer

- Have you setup your homepage correctly? – http://themeforest.net/item/foxy-portfolio-responsive-wordpress-theme/4630606/faqs/16399

- In the theme options panel in the general tab there is a setting for “Background Grunge” where you can disable it.

- The menu icons are of course optional. See the documentation on how these are added so you can remove them (hint: remove the menu css classes).

- Links on the right of the page? Sounds like maybe you are talking about a widget…customize your widgets at Appearance->Widgets in your WordPress dashboard.

Hi thank you so so much for your reply. It’s really helpful. I have one last question. I want to put a subscribe field with a name and email input within my homepage, although it is not in the template. Is there any documentation on how i could do that? Many many thanks.

WPExplorer

We can’t possible add every customization people might want to do into our docs ;) But basically it shouldn’t be too hard…but it really depends on the service you are using.

For example if you are using MailChimp they have a code you can copy and paste right into your template to display a newsletter signup form.

How are you handing your newsletter?

Default-user

Hi, thank you. I will probably use Mail Chimp to send newsletters at a later date but I am using ZOHO CRM to store all the contacts so that is what what I probably would need to use. I installed a Zoho plug-in but nothing happens and i can’t seem to be able to generate subscribe field. I would be very grateful if you could help although i understand that is beyond the customer service offered with the template. Thank you.

WPExplorer

To be honest i’ve never heard of Zoho until now, so I wouldn’t have any idea how it works. Do you have a link to the plugin you are using? Maybe there is a guide somewhere showing what function to use when adding the form to your template files.

Default-user

Thank you. I will look into it.

Default-user

Hi, it seems that the size of the headings has changed in the menu. Do you know where I can adjust the size? Thank you.

Hi! I’m thinking to buy this theme, but I’d like to know if in the future I install woocommerce plugin I would have any problem…

thanks for your help!

WPExplorer

You shouldn’t have any “problem” per-se. But this theme doesn’t have any built-in CSS to make WooCommerce match the design of the theme. Also you might want to create your woocommerce.php file – http://docs.woothemes.com/document/third-party-custom-theme-compatibility/

Hey there,

I’ve installed your theme and am trying to install a plugin called CodeStyling Localization, to translate English in Dutch. Unfortunatly, after installing it and trying to add Dutch to your theme, I get the following messages:

Error: The actual loaded translation content does not match the textdomain: wpex Expect, that any text you translate will not occure as long as the textdomain is mismatching! This is a coding issue at the source files you try to translate, please contact the original Author and explain this mismatch.

Warning: The actual loaded translation content contains mixed textdomains and is not pure translateable within one textdomain. It seems, that there is code contained extracted out of other plugins, themes or widgets and used by copy & paste inside some source files. The affected unknown textdomains are: ?

Do you have a solution for this problem, or otherwise a plugin that would work?

Thanks in advance, Olivier

WPExplorer

I double checked the theme and the localization is correct. It’s likely an issue with the plugin itself. You can see in the theme’s functions.php where the text domain is added.

ps: Support is for buyers only ;) Thanks!

Never mind my previous post, I resolved the issue by watching a video on your Youtube channel. Thanks for that!

I do have another issue, concerning multible pages referring to different categories of posts. Maybe you can take a look at www.etenvolgensmij.com… I have three pages with the “blog” template. So it automaticly shows an exerpt of any posts I’ve added. Is there any way to show only posts from specific categories, so I can set up the pages to show only those categories fitted to the subject instead of all of them?

Again thank you in advance, regards Olivier

WPExplorer

Glad you resolved that ;) Could you please comment with the account used to make the purchase? Theme support is for buyers only. Thanks!

Hi, it’s Olivier again (but you can lose the extra i if you want to ;) ),

This is my clients’ account, but just to show you that I/we actually bought the theme. Could you pls respond to my latest comment?

Thanks a bunch & kind regards

WPExplorer

Hi Olivier,

Contact me via my profile page and I can send you the updated file. It’s a very simple “fix” (I did this on purpose because people in the past requested it to work in this way).

Or if you want to edit yourself, see templates/template-home.php line 100 and change the href value so it looks like this:

<h2 class="portfolio-entry-title"><a href="<?php echo wpex_port_url( get_the_ID() ); ?>" title="<?php echo esc_attr( the_title_attribute( 'echo=0' ) ); ?>" rel="bookmark"><?php the_title(); ?></a></h2>

Please note, that I am human so I do need to sleep as well as I have many other projects I work on ;) That’s pretty much the only reason I didn’t get to you sooner. I do appreciate it though for you to comment with the correct account – thanks!

Haha no worries, I must admit your theme’s is in a lot of way one of the most extensive and easy to use i’ve seen so far, and a response within 24 hours is better than I hoped for so kudo’s to you!

The “fix” worked, thanks a bunch. Any other questions I might have I’ll ask through your profile.

I’m sorry to stalk you like this, but I need to finish my project quickly and I’ve just found a bug: if you redirect your portfolio items to posts, they redirect properly (from the homepage) if you click on picture, but it doesn’t redirect if you click on the header. Can you fix this pls? Thanks, Olivier.

Hi – how do I add a font-awesome icon?

I’d like to icon-anchor but it’s not supported by the theme.

Thanks!

WPExplorer

In the menu? This is all described in the theme’s documentation, please have a look.

I did check and it appears there was a recent update to the font icons so this specific icon is not included. I will have to update the font awesome icons folder and CSS for it to be available. If you want to contact me via my profile page I can send you the update when ready.

I’m trying to set up my portfolio, but when I create a Portfolio page, there is no option for a “portfolio” template—only blog, contact, home, etc. Can you provide some guidance as to what I might be doing wrong?

Thanks!

Very nice and clean theme!
Please could you show what “page” and “tagline” mean in the homepage builder? Not sure I can recognize them in the Demo.
Is the colour of the info boxes and the text inside (in shortcodes) only limited to the 5 shown in the demo?
Is it possible to change the font size of the text in the theme option panel? Can I change the text for preview when choosing a font in the theme option panel?
Is there an easy way to add responsive tables (standard, not price), preferably in the shortcodes?

WPExplorer

- The page module is anything you add to the post editor for the page that is set as the homepage. So essentially you can display the static page content. The tagline in the demo is right under the portfolio carousel

- Yes, but you could create unlimited colors by adding some custom CSS to your site, because the shortcode just adds the color you set in the shortcode as a class in the HTML.

- There aren’t font size options. These are bad to put in admin panels because it can ruin the design where specific font sizes are set for various elements/widgets/plugins. You are best editing the font size for the body tag in your CSS. You can only change the preview text if you edit the theme’s admin template files. I don’t really see much point in doing this. If you really need to test, just look on the Google Fonts website.

- No. Tables aren’t really used in modern web design anymore. But there are a lot of plugins out there for creating tables already, so I wouldn’t update my shortcodes plugin to include them.

Default-user

Thanks for your kind answers. The font preview – to see if the font supports specific letter of my language without having to go to Goofle Fonts website.
I don’t understand why tables are old-fashioned. Is it better to avoid them with your theme?

WPExplorer

- Oh I see, no unfortunately the only way to do that would be to either select it and save your options then look at your site or go to the Gogle Fonts website. Both though are very quick, I’m sure you aren’ going to be spending hours and hours doing that ;) The other option is to start at Google fonts to begin with, because on the right hand side you can select your script from a drop-down and see which are supported.

- In my opinion tables should always be avoided (personal opinion). But of course if you want to use them, there are many plugins out there for using tables. The theme itself doesn’t have any styling added for tables, so there shouldn’t be any conflicts with design if you do use a third party tables plugin or if you add your own CSS for tables.

I am having a problem seeing the post text box and its content after the wordpress 3.6 update. I came upon this isuue with 3.4 and came toi a fix by searching forum by editing the config.php file. But this time I deactivated all the plugins, reinstalled and it didnt work. Then I switched to twenty twelve and all the content was back in the content box, but when I switched back to foxy-portfolio, I cant see a thing, I cant edit or read the post on the admin. This leads me to believe that it is a theme issue, anyone out there have the same problem? did you figure out a fix?

I really like this theme and would hate to move away to a different one.

WPExplorer

It should be a very simple solution.

1. Update the theme with the latest version. 2. Remove the symple shortcodes plugin.

The editor issue has to do with the shortcodes plugin which my guess is you have an outdated version. However, the shortcodes are now built-in so no need for the plugin and it will fix the problem – http://www.wpexplorer.org/changelogs/foxy/ (built in shortcodes was added in v1.2)

Default-user

Thank you for your reply, where can I find the update?

Default-user

Dont worry about my last post, I found it, I updated to version .2 but my slider and slogan dont show on the home page now

Default-user

actually its the slider, tagline and portfolio that do not appear on the homepage, even though, as per the theme options, they are enabled

Default-user

I’m sorry for all those interventions, I read the documentation and found all the answers. thanks

Hi,

It’s me again, finally got everything working.

However, all my posts are showing with a sidebar when selected. How do i get it to be full width?

Thanks.

WPExplorer

All blog posts are supposed to have a sidebar by default as you can see from the demo.

If you want to remove it, you’ll need to remove the get_sidebar() function from single.php and then alter your CSS to make them full-width.

Hi, Great theme! This is my first time using WordPress and your theme is making designing my webpage a lot less scary!

I have a question about the portfolio feature- I just finished uploading all my portfolio posts of all my t-shirt designs, and I want to change the order of the posts so that my most popular shirts are first- how can I do this?

Thanks, Deb

WPExplorer

Hi Deb,

Glad you are finding the theme easy to use and good for your needs!

Altering the order of posts in WordPress is pretty simple – http://www.wpexplorer.org/knowledgebase/changing-post-order-portfolio-services-highlights-staff-etc/

Default-user

Thanks! That worked perfectly! Just one more question- I made a gallery for the “gallery” page that’s built in, but once the thumbnails are clicked, it says, “NOT FOUND. This is somewhat embarrassing, isn’t it?

It looks like nothing was found at this location. Maybe try a search?”

Did I make the gallery wrong? Also, how do I get the gallery to show up in lightbox mode when each image is clicked?

Thanks so much for your speedy support!

-Deb

WPExplorer

hi Deb!

Please have a look at the following FAQ for this theme: http://themeforest.net/item/foxy-portfolio-responsive-wordpress-theme/4630606/faqs/16414

That should fix things up ;)

Default-user

Cool, so now my images show up, but I still can’t manage to get the images to open in a lightbox format. Is there maybe a tutorial on how to do the gallery? I tried just uploading the pictures to the post and using the “Gallery” page template, but they just came out huge. When I tried using the “Gallery” feature from where it says “Create Gallery” when you go to add media, it makes that nice tiled gallery, but does not show it in lightbox format.

WPExplorer

I have several videos for this theme, do you want to have a look? It might help you out Deb,

http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLHWJAqf5oydRJhffNzYV3BI2q1M5jK_8D

Because to be honest I’m not quite sure what you are having trouble with. Maybe the videos can explain best.

Default-user

I’ve watched all those videos, but can’t seem to find anything about the gallery. Maybe if you see my page, you will see what I’m talking about. This is the first gallery attempt I made: http://screenology.net/gallery and this is my “practice page”/2nd attempt: http://screenology.net/pictures

WPExplorer

Oh do you mean the gallery template?

All you have to do for this is create a new page, select the Gallery template, then click “Add Media” and upload your images. The template will automatically grab all the attachments and display them nicely for you. Make sense?

WPExplorer

Actually it seems like its working correctly here – http://screenology.net/pictures/ but you’ve also inserted images into your editor which are showing up at the top.

In WordPress any image uploaded to a specific page or post becomes an “attachment” and then as a developer we can use these and loop through them.

I hope I’m being clear!

Default-user

Aha! Perfect! That completely fixed it! Thank you so much for your help! I appreciate it so much- I’m hustling trying to get my website finished for an upcoming sale with an online retailer and your help has taken such a huge weight off my shoulders! I’ve gotten nothing but positive feedback for this theme and I will definitely be leaving a 5-star review for you!

-Deb

WPExplorer

Oh great, I’m glad you got it sorted out. If you have any further questions/issues just let me know.

Good luck with your project Deb!

thanks for the rating ;)

Hi, Great theme! I am new at this but your theme has been easy to use and it looks great.

My question is about the homepage portfolio icons. I am using the homepage portfolio icons to redirect to pages and not the portfolio. But when you click on the title of the portfolio box, the redirect does not work and it goes to the portfolio post. Is there a way to make it so that you can never get to the portfolio posts? Thanks again, Ilona

WPExplorer

I’d be glad to assist you, it would be a simple template tweak, but support is for buyers only ;)

Default-user

Hi I did buy it I was just wondering how I get the purchased button?

WPExplorer

Are you logged in with the wrong account?

Default-user

I might be. I bought Foxy through Theme Forest but the PayPal payment went to Envato. I have a receipt number. I bought the theme on May 30th. I have also sent a help ticket to Envato. I am looking forward to getting this figured out. Thank you, Ilona Scharer
