Hi,
Have bot the theme and set it up and have it up and running, great theme looks fantastic and exactly what I required, having a strange problem with updating the slideshow on the home page.
I delete or change images on the home page in wordpress, but these changes are not reflected on the browser, it keeps serving whatever the first images that have been set up on the page, and does not refresh the content at all. Is this a caching issue? Happens in both Safari and Chrome, even after clearing the cache.
The only solution for me is to delete the page, and start from scratch.
Any Ideas?
When you click the Add Media button select “Attached to this page” from the drop down box at the top. This will display only the images attached to the page (these are the images that will display in the slideshow). You can rearrange them by dragging and dropping them into order.
Thanks Eugene,
I’ll give that a go now.
Regards
Michael
Hi, the gallery doesn’t work. The gallery doesn’open.
http://www.iogan.net/wp-admin/post.php?post=789&action=editIf you use the gallery post format on the post edit screen all images that are uploaded to the post will automatically be added to the post like this:
http://themes.eugeneo.com/franklyn/2012/10/08/gallery/The page you linked to looks to be working as it should now.
Ye, i found a plugin conflict (gallery from flickr)
Is it possible to have video portfolio items load in a lightbox using a gallery or via some edits?
It would be possible but I wouldn’t be able to give you the code to do it.
During the loop on the portfolio category page, you would have to check each portfolio item for the first link it’s content. If the first link is a video URL you would then output the video URL as the portfolio item link instead of the portfolio item URL (so you are linking to the video). You would then add
rel="lightbox"to the link so that it opens in the lightbox. Thanks for info
Hi, I am having an issue with viewing the theme in iOS. The background image just locks in with the entire screen when you try to scroll down. I saw that you had an update, but we have already made so many changes to so many files. Is there any way you could describe what file the fix was in? I replaced all of the JS files but no luck.
http://www.waterfront-land-mountain-sale.comThe theme is displaying as it should. The problem is you have added more content to the slider caption than the theme is designed for.
All the text should be in the page content so it displays below the slider image.
Do you mean the footer we have added with contact information or the content on the main slider that is being cut off?
It seems to be a margin issue, but I removed the extra text content and it still does not display properly.
The default page template is also cutting off about 50% of the content with the sidebar. I have tried to change the percentages, but nothing seems to fix this issue for iOS.
You need to remove the slider caption text and add it to the page content area. The slider caption is only designed to hold two lines of text. It also looks like you have modified the caption margin from the origin 25% so part of the caption is hidden under the sidebar.
The sidebar is only designed to hold a few menu items. The number of menu items is determined by the browser height. You have to assume the smallest browser size to ensure all visitors will be able to see all the sidebar content. The solution is to reduce the number of menu items in the navigation. You have further reduced the visible sidebar content by increasing the sidebar text size.
Okay. Thank you for the help. I will adjust accordingly. Sorry for all the questions. Our client is being extremely particular…
Hi
I’m having problems with my gallery page. When I add images they look like a blog post and not full width grid gallery.
I need this as a page as I want a grid gallery on the homepage.
Thanks
Please provide a link to the page so I can see what you mean.
Love this theme and have been using it for a while now. Just wondered how hard it was to change
A. The menu font B. The colour of the menu font and background
Thanks for you time, keep up the great work!
Changing the menu font is a matter of a few lines of CSS applied to
#primary-nav. You could use one of default system fonts which would only require the font-family property or you could use the Google font API or @font-face to add a custom font.I am having problems with pages on my site, they don’t seem to be loading the page content, the heading comes up but no content?
Please help, thanks
http://www.richardpwalton.co.uk/awards-and-qualifications http://www.richardpwalton.co.uk/contact etcThe pages you linked to are working okay for me.
Thank you, all sorted and very happy
Just one more thing, sorry to bother you again. I am looking at changing the colour of the overlay that comes up when you scroll over a image in a masonary gallery. At the moment it is grey on it, I have changed the eye (found the png in image folder) but the colour of the overall box? is it a png in images to or a colour in css? Thanks
It’s all CSS. Add this to the stylesheet of a child theme and change the background colour.
.item .alpha { background: #0F0F0F; opacity: 0.85; -moz-opacity: 0.85; -ms-filter: "progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Alpha(opacity=85)"; filter: alpha(opacity=85); z-index: 1; }I was just checking out the responsive feature on my Android and it looks pretty broken. However, on Firefox if I resize it looks like it’s working properly as the menu dropdown appears. Not sure what the issue is here?
As I do not have any Android mobile devices to test on this is the best tool I can find to compare results.
http://responsinator.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fthemes.eugeneo.com%2Ffranklyn%2FJudging by that it looks like on some larger android screens the mobile layout is not used, most likely because the resolution does not fall within the responsive layout media queries.
You can use the Android SDK to create a virtual device and check it on there. It’s a bit slow but it works, I grabbed a screen to show you what it looks like: http://imgur.com/LoAqGll – this is exactly how it appears on my phone and I guess all android devices.
Other responsive designs that use media queries display properly, not really sure what is up.
Like I said, it’s not exactly broken. The device dimensions don’t fall within the responsive media queries of the theme so the desktop format is being displayed instead.
I’ll look into it for the next update.
Really, I just need to fix it, any idea as to the specifics of the issue or possible avenue to fix it?
Play around with the media query widths in responsive.css. You will need to increase the two queries that begin
@media (max-width: 640px)I would start by increasing them to max-width: 768px.
Hi, I am currently having issues with IE 8. I know this is a responsive layout and I am not sure what has caused this to happen recently, but the home page slider is not taking up the entire background on the site. It works fine in all other browsers and even in IE9 it is fine.
http://www.waterfront-land-mountain-sale.comIt’s working okay for me. The slider image sizing is all Javascript so try clearing your browser cache in case it is loading old JS files.
Hi! I want to buy this theme but some questiones before: Can I put 3 portfolio categorys in the menu and other 3 portfolio categorys as sub menu? Like this:
- HOME
- ABOUT US
- PORTFOLIO
> CATEGORY 1
> CATEGORY 2 > CATEGORY 4
> CATEGORY 3
- CONTACT
Also, can I do gallery pages with password? Thanks a lot!
1.) Yes you can arrange portfolio categories like that in the menu.
2.) At present it is not possible to password protect portfolio items or the gallery page template. I will address this in a future update but I can not put an estimate on when this will be released.
Thanks! And make a common page with a galery inside and protect with password?
It is not currently possible to password protect portfolio items or galleries created using the gallery page template.
Hey, I have installed the theme, but I am not able to import the .xml dummy content. (via tools > import>wordpress). It just times out. Am I doing something wrong?
There is some advice here: http://www.mickgenie.com/import-failed-for-wordpress-xml-file/
I also just came across this post so it could be a problem with the importer plugin with WP3.5.
http://themeforest.net/forums/thread/wordpress-demo-content-import-invalid-post-type-issues/83990Can you please explain how to set-up the landing page slideshow as shown in the preview of the theme?
Thanks
Hello…just purchased this theme and it cannot be installed.
Installing Theme from uploaded file: themeforest-3416952-franklyn-portfolio-blog-wordpress-theme.zip Unpacking the package…
Installing the theme…
The package could not be installed. The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet.
Theme install failed.
How can this be fixed? Thanks!
You are installing the wrong file. Follow the installation instructions in the documentation.
Hi there,
I have a major problem, i can’t even upload any images into the page. I get this message” An error occurred in the upload. Please try again later.”
But once i activate different theme (twentytwelve etc) I’m able to upload the images successfully.
Kindly advise.
Start by disabling all plugins to eliminate the possibility of a Javascript error.
You can also look for errors when on the post edit screen using Firebug or chrome developer tools.
I have disabled all the plugins, and also did a clean wordpress install. the problem still there.
Tried to disabled all plugins and also did a clean install. still the problem is there.
Kindly advise.
But when i login into the ftp, and go into wp-content folder, i can see all the uploaded images is in the upload folder.
I am uploading an update to Franklyn. Give it a try and see if it works. The update doesn’t address your issue directly but some of the changes might also fix your issue. The update should be processed and available for download within 24 hours.
Downloaded the latest theme, still same issue. Appreciate your time to look into this. I can make the admin login available to your if i can have your email.
Downloaded the latest theme. still same issue. this is not right.
I’m not sure what’s causing the problem for you. I believe its an incompatibility between the theme and your server specifically as this isn’t an issue I have encountered personally and no other buyers have brought it to my attention either.
Here are a few options:
Javascript Errors
Use chrome developer tools or Firebug and check for javascript errors as the image is uploaded.PHP Memory limit
You could try increasing the PHP memory limit on your server. Contact your server host for instructions of how to do that.Theme Code
Rename function.php to something else (so the theme doesn’t load it) and test an image upload. If the upload is successful revert function.php back to its original name and comment out this line:
The above line reads the image geo EXIF data and adds it to the database when the image is uploaded. To my knowledge it is the only piece of code in the theme that has any impact on image upload.
If the upload fails uncomment the above line and try commenting out the section labelled as IMAGE RESIZING. It’s the vt_resize function and although I don’t think it actually does any thing to the images on upload it’s worth a try.
If the upload fails comment out this line from the section labelled as POST THUMBNAILS and try another image upload:
add_filter( 'wp_read_image_metadata', 'add_geo_exif','',3 );on the parent functions.php works. I can upload the pictures with no issue.I really appreciate your kind help on my situation.
Thanks
The only side effect of commenting out that line means the little map next to the image showing where it was taken won’t appear (because there is no location data saved).
I’m glad we found the cause.
Hello, I have a question. How can y change the content and main-content-wrapper’s background on a specific portfolio item. To sum i want each portfolio item have different background color. Is it possible ?
Thanks
There is no option in the theme to do that.
Hi there,
Having a bit of trouble with my gallery pages, as you can see on this one- http://boubouphotographic.com/fashion/ It comes up with a thumbnail of the first photograph at the bottom of the images? It also does this but with ALL the images on the ‘Advertising’ and ‘Beauty’ pages. For the life of me I cannot figure out how to get rid of it, it doesn’t appear on the demo so I assume it can be gotten rid of? If not is it because I should be using Portfolios? I haven’t done this as I havent been able to get them to display the items or layout how I want.Excuse the repetition of images/ general not looking good been trying to just understand everything before actually putting in the correct work!!
Would really appreciate your help asap been driving myself crazy trying to work it out.
Thanks, Opal
The images need to be attached to the page but not inserted into the page content. It looks like you have also inserted a gallery shortcode into the page content area.
