Hi I’m new to Wordpress, is there a way to make the Freehold template generate some sort of membership signup/database so I can send members new listings? Would I need a plugin for this?
Also the drop down box underneath the search button on the home page; is the arrow tag which allows the drop changeable?

MailChimp for example offers a free plane that is great. Both also have many plugins for WordPress that are available for free at http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/. The drop-down under the search button is not changeable without customizing. You can adjust the names of some of the fields and currency but not add/remove fields.
I’ve sent your demo page to many of my friends to compare with some others. They all pick freehold but all mention the same issue as I find; the drop down menu for advanced search is not easily found. You say I can customize this but I also see that if I customize anything you don’t offer support, is this correct?
Also I’m far from being any sort of web designer, can I outsource someone to do any hard code customization I need, i.e the arrow drop-down, as what would take 5 mins for a pro would take me days of shouting and swearing at my computer when I can’t do it. Can you recommend someone I can outsource it to? Are there people on your support forum who might do this for me?
Also for translated languages when I update a new listing do I mirror this but in the other language on another page? The other lang I need is Thai and I find auto translators like google etc no good for this.

We do have some recommended developers to use if you want to make customizations. Things like adjusting the drop-down arrow would indeed take a few minutes for a developer. Note: We cannot offer support for customizations.
If you want to have multiple languages you would use a plugin like http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/qtranslate/ or http://wpml.org . You would be entering in the text multiple times for each language. No automated translator.
Oh sorry there’s one more thing, I want to sell land as well as property. Can I change Open houses into land and also for this section would I be able to use a different measurement unit? i.e property needs to be sq metres but the land will need to be something like acres (they actually measure in a unit called rai here).
That would need to be added as a customization. It would only take an hour or two of development time to hire a developer for that addition.
How do I get local listings to show up? Do I enter them or do they get put in via some sort of database automatically?
All of the listings are managed/posted within WordPress. Each listing is just a post from a custom post type “Properties”.

The author sold me on how simple this was to customize and anything complex would require and email for an estimate for his assistance.
Sad to say after spending 40 plus hours trying to template to convert to a listing website unrelated to real estate where the search box needed customization no luck and I’ve decided not to use. When the author was emailed for an estimate, the response to my email was that this was too complex and that he was booked out. During pre-sale questioning it sounded like no problem…:(

Love how clean and simple this theme is but have a few questions before purchase. 1. Can we add a photo or graphic to the banner, full length or otherwise? 2. Can we add a text box between the home page slider and the start of the listings, so that we can introduce the agents and have a welcome message? 3. 1) You could easily add a background image with one line of CSS. That would be the easiest way to adda photo or graphic image. Also, you could use your logo as a photo or graphic banner. It depends on your graphic/banner but that should be relatively easy.
2) Yes, you can add text between the homepage slider and the start of the listings.
3) Yeah, you can hide the search in the top. There are directions in our support forum on how to do this.

Hi, Can you customize google map for location based searching. I want when users open the site from any location then google map should show him his current location from his IP and offcourse all listings will show him on the map by default.

For that I thank you for the time and work.
1- I am curious though to see more details in admin panel options. From the video I could only see the color change option. Is it possible to have a more complete glance of the customizable features in WP admin?
2- Listing filter option isn’t available in Drupal version? I have seen you forward a customer before to your support forum, I would like to know if you can help with that if I decide to go with Drupal. I have no experience with Wordpress.
3- Are there more features in WP/Drupal?

2) Listing filtering is offered by Most recent, Price (High to low), and Price (Low to high). This is built-in to the theme.
3) We recommend purchasing the WordPress version as the theme was designed for WordPress. The drupal version was developed separately.
1) Is there a way to add more advanced search options? i.e. Construction Type: Wood Frame, Concrete Block, Poured Concrete, Brick Exterior
2) Is there a way to allow for checkboxes rather than dropdowns for the user to choose more than one option for search. i.e. condos and houses only.

1-2) These both are customizations that are not built-in to the theme (You would be responsible for making any customizations ). The check-boxes would be relatively simple as these are just form elements. Drop-downs and checkboxes work exactly the same so it would be a very similar setup.
Renaming search element names does require code changing but is super easy and we include documentation for this. Property Types are controlled in WordPress and can have an unlimited number of types (Categories).

Yeah, you would easily change the slider. All of this is handled in the single-property.php file. If you need additional help, then you will need to read the RoyalSlider documentation and/or hire a developer. This is because we can’t offer free customizations. Where to find the lang file for translation!?
Check out the documentation under “Translating”. It will walk you through translating the theme. The .po file is inside the /lang folder.
the language file is a little bit empty. something left. how can i insert the words they are not included ?
If you are using the regular theme files, some words are within the Theme Options > Real Estate Tab (Beds, Baths, Currency, etc.). You will translate those words within the theme options. If you want to use WPML, then use the /Misc/Multi-Language Files/.

In this case – REALLY good.
As a veteran who likes to hack into template files, change css attributes, and make a few child themes along the way – I have to say I’ve never seen such clean, streamlined code coming out of a designer. Thank you, thank you, thank you. The beauty of this theme was that even if I wanted to change a few things around in the php – I rarely found cause to do so – so many of the features and design elements were already in a nice user interface in the theme options and customizations.
You really deserve a medal or something…
Anyway, since I’m being forthright and honest, I bought this theme with the intention of getting comfortable with it and then signing up for one of those IDX/MLS services so I could create agent websites for some of my agent friends. That’s a rabbit hole a person could get lost down for weeks on end. Who offers the best service, how much does it cost, which one is responsive, which one offers Canadian MLS feeds, iframed or non-iframed—what a fiasco.
In the end I decided to ditch the project. Most of the IDX/MLS stuff are plugins that don’t even use the features of this gorgeous theme – they just shove their own information into the post box and use their own search widget. So while I love the Freehold theme, I’m not crazy about the IDX services – especially in Canada!
Not sure what to do with my purchase now – create a FSBO website? Or cottage rental listings on the south coast? Seems a waste of such a versatile theme to just keep it sitting on my hard drive.
At any rate ProgressionStudios, I did want to let you know how much I appreciate your clean code and beautiful design. I will be a customer again when I need a new theme for a new project – and it won’t be in the Canadian real estate market, that’s for sure!
