I’m really really disappointed in this theme. I’ve spent a lot of time on it and simple things are not working. I don’t want to trash my site because I’m not a professional programmer, but I’m so frustrated, especially after spending this much money in hopes of getting a really well coded theme.
Sorry for the issues. Do you have the most up to date version of this theme? Also have you tried to post to our support forum? Our developer is ready to help you. Thanks.
This is the 15th theme I’ve used from themeforest, and the 20th theme I’ve worked with on WP. Honest feedback – I rated it a “3” largely because the docs are horrible IMHO and the admin isn’t as fully featured as it’s sold to be.
Specifically, the documentation is lacking in ‘context’ and full of weirdly simple formatting errors and special characters which gets very old very quickly. Terms like “content” and “services” referencing the same content block make for difficult reading/implementation. The docs/admin pages break out products and sliders, but ignore the content/services block which I still can’t figure out, and I’m having to reverse engineer the logic from the pictures provided.
I note that “documentation” is often just a picture of a page showing that a page element “can” exist rather than a written description of how to create the content/element to make it exist. It’s my opinion the docs are certainly not adequate/written for a beginner – so buyer beware and you’ll probably really need the example content provided. I hate installing example content as a work around for less than adequate docs. Such clutter – but I may have not choice but to install it all as I try to decipher this theme.
That said, it’s exactly the layout I want/need for this project and I do REALLY LIKE the fact that I can drop HTML in just about anywhere and it gets parsed correctly. There’s also a few little niceties here and there that are convenient but haven’t made up for the difficulties so far.
I remain hopeful I can get everything done with this theme, but will have to write in for support to understand how some content blocks shown in the example/demo are supposed to get created. The last two themes I implemented from themeforest I didn’t have to speak to the author. Bummed, but confident it’ll get sorted…
Thanks for the review. We’ll learn from it and focus more on the documentation. We’ll probably ask someone else to write it as usual problem is that everything is always clear to the author/developer.
Also please register to our support forum, our developer will help you if you have any difficulties. Thanks.
After 15 hours, I am asking for a refund. The demo website oversells this theme in a big way IMHO . While an incredible layout/design, there are too many issues where I’m reverse engineering blocks of your demo site to produce what you’ve shown. Your shortcodes simply do not produce what your demo site shows out of the box—and it would be helpful if in your implementation (of [frame] for example) if you showed on your demo page what is ACTUALLY produced rather than what you “can” do with practice/coding skill. It’s misleading… and a waste of time.
If you’re having difficulties with shortcodes, please post to our support forum. Our developer will be happy to help you.
Hi there I just installed your theme and it isn’t responsive? This is a fresh clean Wordpress install, no plugins that would conflict. What’s the story here? Beautiful theme by the way once I get it cracking…

Very frustrated with the slide-out theme modifier on the left.
In firefox: It scrolls out fine but when I click on “colors” dropdown the entire editor slide-out dissapears.
SOoooo I open in Internet Explorer and it doesnt dissapear but does not show the save settings!
at my witts end.
Themebox can be turned off in the admin panel. There’s a checkbox for it.
I have posted in the support forum and have yet to get a reply in regards to why the theme isn’t responsive in my case? Been waiting to days… Deadline looming….
Thanks for your message. I’ve forwarded your query to our developer, he’ll get back to your shortly. Thanks.
How can we get the latest version we had taken 2 months old and have version 1.8
Please navigate to Downloads tab here on Themeforest, you can always grab the latest copy there.
We downloaded the latest copy but still it shows old version. Also when we get the new version we have to reset every thing all over again? or their would be any upgrade steps?
Please try to download it again, I’ve just tried it and version is OK. I got v1.11. Thanks.
We downloaded again but still its old version
New version can be downloaded from Downloads tab. I’ve just double checked that, there is a version v2.0. Thanks.
XML sample data is not working. I just posted this problem to Support Forum
Thanks for your post, our developer will look at it.
Agreed with many above.
I bought this theme – looks great but has some serious install issues. XML sample data is not working. I will post this on the support forum as well. I installed on my WIN server last week with XML data fails. I did a massive server upgrade to the latest version of LINUX /PHP/MYSQL and still fails. I’m disappointed.
Lots to like about the theme – but it needs to work. Please please please test your templates robustly.
We’re going to test fresh install now. Our developer will get back to you on our support forum. Thanks.
We’ve updated the example XML content now, new update has been sent to themeforest for approval. Thanks for that.
Good thing I looked at the comments or else I would be falling for another good looking bad theme
Thanks for your comment. If there are any minor issues or bugs we usually release an update the same day.
Feel free to test our free theme, you can download it from our website www.ait-themes.com, it’s using the same admin framework like Freestyle or other recent themes.
XML file don’t work at all, maybe is becouse I use a brazilian version of wordpress, I already post at the forum.
Thanks for the message, our developer will check that and get back to you.
How to turn off comments on the pages?
Hi dear team, I see in my Dashboard that you release the Freestyle V1.16 that include the twitter widget fix, so the question are… hoy can update this fix? I bought the template in themeforest and I don´t want to reinstall all the theme again.
URL to your website: www.buscaventura.com/explora
Browser version: firefox
Theme version: Freestyle Wordpress Theme is 1.11.
Thanks for your message. We’ve actually stopped this update but unfortunately there was a miscommunication internally and notification went out already.
Big update to Freestyle theme is coming up, it’ll be a version 2.0. We’re working away on implementation of Revolution slider in our theme. This update including fully featured new slider will be for free.
Sorry for the false notification, I’m sure the new update will be ready soon. Thanks.
Can we have a twitter fix please asap?
We plan to release an update tomorrow. Sorry for the delay. Thanks.
Update has been sent to themeforest for approval now, it should be available for download in a couple of hours. We’ve also included a modern Slider Revolution, update can be called v2.0 now
Freestyle v2.0 is out now. It includes Slider Revolution slider worth of $15. Enjoy!
Hello, thank-you for releasing the update. Because the them doesnt have a child, I have done a fair bit of modification to the style and layout of a site and really don’t want to have to spend ages upgrading a customers website. Please could you let me know the code snippet of where I can put the new API for twitter in? I’m sure this will help a lot of others too.
Thanks for your message, please post to our support forum, our developer will be able to help you. Thanks.
Does your theme support child themes that i can create so updates will not affect customisations? Also do you have a “Custom CSS ” panel in your theme options (in case some child theme css cannot override the default theme css).
Also, have you managed to sort out the issues with your XML demo content importing yet? One last question; have you made relevant updates to your documentation to make it more user friendly.
I’m interested to buy, my client likes the visual design – i think it is good too but some of these comments have me concerned about the functionality of your theme. I will tell you now that I am not going to behave as impatiently an vindictively as other themeforest customers but I would expect my purchased theme to work as intended without too many hacks and a good response turnaround for theme support. This is what really makes a great theme seller. I understand technology is always a work in progress and some coding will be necessary but it should not be so much that it negates the time saved buying a pre-designed theme. Meaning… why not just grab a free theme and re-program it myself (which i have done) if a bought theme is causing to many bug issues…?
I hope you can answer my questions and give me confidence to purchase your theme.
Thanks for your questions. Freestyle does not support child themes, you can use Custom CSS field for all your modifications. HTML files are also separated from the PHP , your updates therefore can be done more easily.
We’ve released a v2.0 with Revolution Slider, we’re also updating our documentation now to make it easier for customers to understand how to set it up.
Could you tell me when you are planning to release the updated documentation. Could you please also explain why separating the HTML and the PHP is a good thing – especially in relation to Wordpress using PHP to create dynamic websites, I don’t really see the benefit/relevance from using static HTML in a WP theme.
It is a shame that your theme dose not support child themes as this is becoming increasingly common and is better than using custom css which usually inserts all the customised css into the head tag of the web page (which can make a web page quite bloated if you have numerous css modifications).
Updated documentation is live already: http://www.ait-themes.com/doc/how-to-use-revolution-slider/?theme=freestyle-wordpress-theme
Separating HTML from PHP is a good practice and standard nowadays in web development or any other development. You can read some articles online about MVC architecture online.
I did some reading on MVC and it seems like a fresh approach (it also appears that drupal may be already using this approach). Also there is a lot of debate whether the default WP architecture now uses MVC . Anyway most of the specifics goes way over my head as I’m a novice to API .
You’ve almost got me convinced, just a real shame you don’t support child themes as I don’t really fancy custom css as it bulks the page load time. Also you say that your style.css file is written dynamically. Is there any way i can get into the backend of your theme and edit the style.less.css file so it can be customised to suit a project requirements (as using custom css to put large amounts of css modifications which overwrite style.css classes/elements is not an approach I would EVER consider).
Just checked out the image gallery on your preview file and it loads the images quite slowly for a WP image gallery, anything going on there?
I can see you are quite serious about providing good customer support and assisting your customers with technical issues. If you could please answer my questions, I’ll get ahead and make a purchase on your theme.
Style.less.css can be edited in wordpress editor no problem, it’s using LESS as an extension to standard CSS features. You can also load your own css into header if you don’t like custom css field.
If image load time is slow it’s probably due to connection issues to our server. Link we’re leasing is beginning to be more and more overloaded due to enormous number of visitors we’re getting across all our themes and websites.
