Hi! Love the theme… purchased it last night and am customizing it for my client. Few questions…

1. How can I change what the “Click here” button looks like on the homepage? I have found it in the css but its 2 images combining to make one. How can I insert my own png image? I keep uploading it into the css and changing your button_left button_right names so it wont grab them but it never works properly.

2. I have deleted the icons on the homepage from the 6 mini paragraphs, but in IE they still show up as boxes with red X’s.

3. I have looked through your slices, but do have a more easily accessible psd of the sticker that goes onto the homepage? My client wants the sticker, but wants to change out the text content.

I hope thats not too much/confusing! Thanks so much!!

Hi Christina,

1. Ensure you’ve uploaded your new button images to the currently selected theme folder (i.e: images/theme/blue-green/ where blue-green is your selected theme).

2. This issue has been corrected in the next updated (awaiting approval from ThemeForest).

3. The PSD named “ThemeElements” contains the layers for every color sticker, including a text layer that’s easily editable. Simply edit the color of sticker you’d like then select File > Save For Web in Photoshop and save the sticker slice into the theme’s images directory, overwriting the old one.

Thanks!

One more thing! I see the contact form back information in the scripts folder, but how do I insert the form into my Contact page?

two2twelve

You can insert a contact form into any page using the shortcode:

[contact_form]

Optionally, you can specify custom “subjects” like so:

[contact_form subjects="General Support,Press Inquiries,Sales"]

Thanks!

Hey Everyone,

I’ve just submitted the Version 1.1 update for approval. As soon as it’s up, I’ll post a changelog and update the live preview :-)

Thanks!

Hi andy_hollywood,

Just checked back in – thanks very much for the fix!

You say hack, I would say innovative problem solving!

Thanks mate,

Cotty

Version 1.1 has been approved!

A changelog has been posted on the Item Details page and live preview has also been updated with the new shortcodes and other changes mentioned.

Thanks for all of your suggestions / feedback!

Hi,

I’m interested in buying this template for my company but since I plan to sell two different SaaS and to offer some services, I’d like to know how easy would be to create “areas” (description and image at the homepage, a page for its features, specs, videos, etc) for each product and service.

Can it be done using only WP’s interface and can I count that I won’t have problems with WP’s updates?

Thanks in advance.

Screenshots: is there anyway to make it stop at the last image instead keeps moving when you click the next button on the home page?

Reposting this because it was never answered from about 30 days ago:

I suppose I should have asked this before I purchased, but I need to have the layout of the homepage to be used on other pages (with the ribbons, screenshots, etc).

Basically I need the homepage layout to be a template I can reuse for other pages.

How can I go about doing this?

two2twelve

Hello onewake,

Apologies for the lapse in response time, I seem to have overlooked your first comment.

Basically, there is no easy way of duplicating the Homepage for use on other areas of the site, since all of it’s content is dynamically managed through the FreshServe Admin panel. One option would be to duplicate the index.php file and create a template from it, but the content would not be editable using the Wordpress admin panel. You would have to manually edit the template.

However, there are shortcodes available that generate elements such as ribbons, buttons, feature boxes, etc… that can be used on any other pages to mimic styles used on the Homepage.

Thanks!

Hi! Thanks for always answering questions so quickly. I see that the updated version is now available, how can I update the one I have so that the icon boxes do not show up on the home page? Thanks!

two2twelve

Hi Christina,

To update your homepage, simply download and install the update then remove the following variable from the shortcode of each homepage box in the FreshServe admin panel:

icon="/path/to/icon.gif"

Once that’s done, the missing icon’s will disappear.

Thanks!

Also! I am needing to change the menu to be drop-down. I saw you earlier posted this response:

1. Add sub-menu items in the “Menus” section of your Wordpress admin panel. 2. Style the < ul > tags for the subnav’s generated by Wordpress (they have a class of sub-menu). 3. Add some Javascript to show/hide the dropdown.

I am not sure how to go about creating a sub-menu item in my menu area. It seems thats not possible? Maybe Im missing something though…

Any help with this is really appreciated… Thank you!

two2twelve

Hi Christina,

In the Menu’s sections, try dragging the item you’d like to make a sub-item under another item, then shifting it slightly to the right. This should then indent the item, thus making it child of the above item.

Thanks!

Hi Eric.

Have a weird problem using the ’ in text on home page.

Here’s what’s happening.

I type ” I’ve ” and it publishes as ” I\’ve “

Wassup up with this?

Hi JD,

I can’t seem to reproduce this problem. Are you running the latest version of FreshServe (v1.1)?

Thanks

Yes most definitely running the latest version. Hosted with Rack – which should be the culprit design on a PC under Chrome.

For now i’m trying to publish copy without any ” ’ ” in it – funny!

Quick question

any chance we could see a slider for the home page in an update. I have 3 messages I’d like to push on the home page in a slider format.

Leaving the container static – no resizing – just a way to use an image with title text and button (as is now), but add more. Also video with title text and button would be great.

The theme is great now but it think adding a few more features could really amp up the sales too.

Thanks

Another question, If I may…

using the short code for word wrap. It doesn’t specify in the docs an image size while using the short code. I placed a random jpg which sets top and left but overflows right and bottom.

You specify image size for blog post but not word wrap.

I guess the question is, should we have to specify image size, or maybe a better question – do we have too?

If so, what’s the size (at least add to documentation)

Thanks

Hi Jason,

The word wrap is meant to use the thumbnail script in order to resize the image to fit within the box, but It seems the word wrap shortcode is not passing the image through the thumb-nailing script.

I’ve just fixed this up just submitted the update to ThemeForest :-)

Thanks!

Hi,

Thanks for the update.

Any idea on a slider for the home?

Also don’t know if you do any custom work, posting on oDesk but would like to offer this up for you too.

Lemme know

two2twelve

Hey Jason,

I am working on a Slider-type feature for the next version, along with several other new features. But it may not be released until next year.

I definitely do custom work. Feel free to drop me an email and let me know what you had in mind.

Thanks,

Hi,

I bought this theme and found it nice, but I really think the homepage is a bit restrictive as you can’t change the main layout – a static image with text and the screenshots.

Maybe it was done that way on purpose, but since it’s a shared template, it would be nice if we were able to put a slider plugin – or similar – on the grey header background or to hide the screenshots section if we please (a quick solution for it could be just a blank grey-and-white homepage with free content).

How do you sugest I proceed so as to remove the screenshots of the homepage? Commenting some code on the source files?

What about the grey section, can I try to change it’s content on the source code?

Thanks in advance,

Filipe

hi I used the latest wp version. but I do not know why, for me, the homepage does not display correctly. instead, appears with a page. As a test, if I put on new WP installation, it works. an idea?

I’ve tried many times to turn off the plugins or to install the theme new.

two2twelve

Apologies for lapse in response time.

Have you got this working? If not, please ensure you can run the default Wordpress theme on your blog installation before installing the FreshServe theme.

Thanks!

I have a problem with this them on wordpress 3.0.4 The screenshots are not showing up, I have checked, double checked and tripple checked the links to the images I have uploaded, yet no matter what the thubnails are showing as red boxes, if I click on the images the lightbox opens and shows the image fine.

Is there something I am doing wrong here ?

Regards Chris

Hi Chris,

The most common solution to the thumbnail issue is to try navigating to the folder:

[Wordpress Install]/wp-content/themes/freshserve/scripts/

and ensuring there are 2 folders called “cache” and “temp”. If not, go ahead and create them and give them the permissions of 777.

Thanks!

Hi, is there a possibility to include at contact’s page a google map code to display it?

Thanks.

two2twelve

Hello,

You should be able to insert the Google maps embed code directly into your contact page using the Wordpress Admin panel.

Thanks,

Great template!

Only one thing that’s I would like to know is:

Why when I fill details into a form then refresh the page, it saves the values.

For example, go to:

http://themes.two2twelve.com/wordpress/freshserve/contact/

Fill in the first name field then refresh the page, it saves that value and makes it italic. How do I stop that?

Thanks!!
