Please could you let me know, is it possible to have a dynamic menu on this theme, so child entries are only shown when you move the mouse over.
Many thanks in advance.
VinbantEnergyMatters, the Live Preview shows a demo of the only way to display child entries by default. You can customize this if you would like. This show/hiding is controlled by CSS display:none/block in the extras.css file at the very bottom.
If you want a dynamic menu to show on hover, you can easily do this by editing the css file. You will have to customize this yourself but you should be able to achieve this with CSS and/or by adding some javascript to help with animation.

Hello,
Just bought your theme, I think its great! I would like to know if its possible to have my gallery images be 653×436 instead of 620×465 ?
620×465 is the maximum image size for the theme but you can customize the theme for larger images if you want. Send me an e-mail and I’ll give you directions on how to adjust the CSS and theme files.
-Mike
Hey,
I like your theme. Bought it and installed it on my wife’s blog (www.juliamaier.net).
Is there a way to integrate social features such as facebook into the gallery? Like Buttons for every picture?
Cheers, Zar
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/
The galleries are built using custom-post-types, so any of the social networking plugins should work fine. You will probably be able to find ones that work on a per-gallery basis though, not on a per-image basis. But I’m sure you could manually add a link in the “info” box on a per-image basis.

Does this allow for password protecting of albums? I’d like to do a client proofing gallery with passwords for each album. Also, since this is a wordpress theme, does that mean that I can add extra pages just like in wordpress?
Thanks.
You can add as many pages as you want. As far as pass-word protecting goes, you would have to use a plug-in for that. Check wordpress.org for some great open source ones. Most pass-word protecting plug-ins should work fine as the Galleries are normal custom-post-types. Just check to make sure they work with custom-post-types and you will be fine

I have a photographer client who takes vertically-oriented photos, but this theme (thumb and full-size image) seems to favor horizontally-oriented or landscape photos. Is it easy to adjust the thumbs and full size images to display vertical photos without cropping?
Yeah it’s very easy to make the main images Vertical/Portrait or horizontal. Note: The thumbnail will always remain the same size.
By default, the image resizer will resize and crop any image larger than 620×465pixels. But if you upload any size that is below 620×465 (Vertical/Portrait), the image won’t be resized/cropped. Pretty simple
Here is an example of a portrait image at the end of the Black and White Gallery:http://galleria.progressionstudios.com/gallery/black-white/#10

Thanks Mike. May be purchasing soon.

Hi I just purchased your theme. I really like it. I think something broke when I downloaded it or when I uploaded to my site. Here is the message that I got. Any suggestions?

I´m having a problem uploading images to the gallery through the theme options/galleries. It displays a “failed” message…..and no explanation about whats wrong.
Just to be sure I have set all folders to permission 777. But it still does´nt work.
Any idea what´s wrong?
Send me an e-mail and I”ll walk you through how to fix this. it is pretty easy, we’ll sort it out quickly.

Hey,
I manually resized all of the photos to be used for the gallery and I’m still getting the loading wheel. The galleries worked for about 20 mins and then stopped working completely. All of them. Any suggestions?
The domain is http://leilagphotography.com (click the first ‘o’ in photography to enter)
I can’t enter your site as I’m getting the “coming soon” banner with no link. Chances are there is a plugin interfering but I can’t tell yet.
Send me an e-mail with the link to the exact site address. You can e-mail me via my profile page contact form or via the e-mail address in the documentation.
Thanks, Mike
The way to view the site was included:
The domain is http://leilagphotography.com (click the first ‘o’ in photography to enter)
I got into your site and it is the Contact Form 7 plugin that was breaking your site. It is loading a second version of jQuery. You should be able to remove the jquery call from the plugins php files easily if you still want to use it. Or you can just use the default contact form plugin. E-mail me if you have any issues doing this.
Thanks,
Mike
Thanks a million. I figured that but didn’t know exactly. I’ll contact for any further problems. Again, great theme.
Thinking of purchasing this theme, but have never done wordpress before. This Template appears to be very similar to what we would like, but am not familiar with how much customization can be done to a template. For example:
Can the white border be removed from around the image and from around the thumbnails?
Can the location of the top and bottom border of the grey background be adjusted?
There is a subcategory link shown under Landscapes. In regard to that button; can the subcategory pages be separate pages and can the buttons be roll-overs, so that the subcategory text does not remain visible when on the subcategory page?
Can there be an addtional sub-subcategory page added with the same slider features as the main page?
Can a vertical menu bar be added?
Thanks
This theme is very easy to use and should be no problem as your first theme.
1. The white border around the images and thumbnails can be removed via custom CSS . There is a box in the options panel that allows you to add custom css code to adjust things like this easily. You wouldn’t have to edit any files, it would all be entered via WordPress through a text panel.
2. Same answer as number 1 for the top and bottom grey background border. These areas are very easy to change as long as you know some basic CSS .
3. I don’t quite understand the question in regards to the subcategories. Currently the Live Preview shows the only way to display them. There are a few customizations you could make but this would be adding code, probably something you wouldn’t be interested in.
4. The sub-categories are created with WordPress’s menu system. You can use whatever page you would like. So yes, you can use the same slider features as the main page. Or mix and match galleries if you would like. You have unlimited possibilities.
5. A vertical menu bar is not an option by default. You could have to customize the theme to add one. If this is your first theme, you would probably have to hire somebody to do this for you.
Feel free to e-mail me as well via the contact form on my profile page if you have anymore questions or want to see screenshots of the backend panel.
Thanks,
Mike
Hi Mike,
i have got a problem with the theme.
I installed it on www.ingridbevort.nl ( pass = demo )
The images do not show on in the gallery.
Is this a common problem?
Thanks Mike,
Albert
Albert,
Remove all of the bad characters like spaces from your filename. This breaks the image resizer and gives you your error. Then re-upload the image and this will fix your issue. Pretty simple fix
.

I am thinking of purchasing this theme.. it fits my aesthetic needs beautifully…
A few questions:
1. Auto-display of sub-menus on hover: Is there a brief tutorial/Sample code on how to do this?
2. Can I use a PNG image file in place of the Title Text?
3. The demos all completely refresh the entire browser window when selecting a menu option. Does this occur normally or is this an anomaly in the demo?
Thanks! Ray
raysot,
Glad you are interested in purchasing. Here are some answers:
1. There isn’t a tutorial but this would be easy to do. Currently it is all handled via css in the /incluldes/css/extras.css file at the bottom. There are a couple of display:none & display:block lines of css that reference ul.sub-menus. You would just need to add a ul.sub-menus:hover {display:block;}. If you wanted, you could add javascript to add a fadein effect or etc to make the effect smoother.
2. Yes, you should be able to remove the page title with CSS or by editing the theme files. Then just use a PNG image file at the top of the page instead of a page title.
3. Yes, the page refreshes when you click a menu option. Each gallery is on it’s own page. They are a custom-post-type.
-Mike
Can’t wait to start using this theme, but unfortunately, I can’t create a gallery. When I try to upload a picture, I get the following error message:
“Could not save uploaded file. The upload was cancelled, or server error encountered.”
I realize that this is a Wordpress error and nothing specific to the theme, but wondering if you have any idea what’s causing it…? The photo is an acceptable size and there are no spaces or special characters in the file name (except an underscore, which shouldn’t cause an issue with Linux).
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!
Yeah, send me an e-mail and I can help you sort this out quickly. It’s usually just a simple PHP permission issue. I can explain further in the e-mail.
Thanks,
Mike
Hello Mike,
I have the same issue as user ‘erinfrancais’:
“Unfortunately Fancybox doesn’t play nice with your template. The jquery section you suggest fixes the broken gallery problem, but then the thumbs in your gallery then start opening the lightbox instead of changing the image in your gallery. I think the simple lightbox and/or color box plugs will work great but I can’t figure out how to disable jQuery calls in those. Can you assist? I’m not having any luck finding it.”
Could you please help me with that?
You don’t have to disable any jQuery calls. The issue ‘erinfrancais’ was having was solved in the latest build of the theme. There are no jQuery conflicts anymore.
Your case is the plugin being written poorly. It sounds like the Fancybox plugin is just grabbing every image and link on your site and forcing it to pop-up in the lightbox. You should be able to change the options in the plugin or you will have to switch to another.
Note: Make sure you are using Version 2 of Galleria.
thanks Mike. this is works for me.
Glad to hear. Let me know if you have any questions in the future.
-Mike
Sorry if this has already been discussed.
Is there a way to include specific posts in the gallery and index page above the gallery block?
Many thanks.
There isn’t a way to do this without customizing the theme. You would have to customize the theme if you wanted to include specific posts on the index or other pages. You could of course create a “home.php” (template specific for the home-page) and just add your code specifying a post you want to display. The other galleries would be more difficult but the home page should be easy to achieve with minor customizations.
Thanks, Mike
How do you activate the contact form and how do you make the main news page pull in the list of news items…mapping news items to the news page as a parent page?
1. The contact form is activated via a short code:
[contact-form]
(You can type this on any page and it will show up, the options for this are on the options panel)
2. The blog is entered in via a page template named Blog. There is no parent or anything like that. You just need to select the Blog Template and that is it.
There is written documentation on both of these areas. If you need additional help, feel free to e-mail me.
Thanks Mike…I was able to add the contact form. I am having issues creating a 3rd column that lists the top 5 posts by date. DO any of those boxes exist. Also I want to add the Home Link to my leftnav but it won’t let me. I’m trying not to create a custom nav.
Also I can’t seem to get the galleries to work even though the permissions are set to 777.
Send me an e-mail in regards to your other issues. Then please see the documentation for the home-page link. I have a section specifically addressing how to set-up the home-page link under the topic “Add a link for the Index Page in the Navigation”.
Hi
We recently purchased your Galleria theme, and are generally very pleased.
We do however have a problem changing the “Send Message” text on our contact page. Where can we change this?
Thanks.
This can be done in the folders of your theme: /includes/framework/extensions/short-codes.php
Once you have opened up the short-codes.php file, you will fine a section labeled “ CONTACTFORM and that is where you can edit this option.
I’m very much considering to buy this theme, but have got one question. Your theme can work fine in a WP admin page that “Screen Options” won’t open?
I’ve installed WP 3 .1.4 as my hosting company’s PHP version is 5.1.6 that cannot run WP 3 .2 (apparently need PHP 5 .2.4). And then, I’ve found out that “Screen Options” won’t open in 3.1.4. Will this cause any problem when using your theme?
FYI , previously I used WP 2 .9 for another website hosted with the same hosting company, and “Screen Options” wasn’t able to open that occasion, either. I’m not sure what causes this.
Hope you can advise me.
Thanks!
Please let me add one thing. Not only “Screen Options” won’t open, drag and drop won’t work, either. Will this cause any problem using your theme?
benoob,
1. Drag & drop will not be an issue. It’s an additional feature but you can also add items without drag & drop.
2. You don’t need the latest version of WP although it’s highly recommended.
3. “Screen Options” is a requirement. Galleries are a custom-post-type so sometimes screen options is needed in order to add them to your Menu items.
It sounds like you need to move hosting providers. Things like screen options and such shouldn’t be breaking.
-Mike
Thank you for your response, Mike. Do you mind telling me which hosting provider you’re using? I may go for the same one to play safe, then. Or, using an older version of WP (e.g. version 2.7) may solve the problem with “Screen Options” not opening? If so, I’d like to go for it as I don’t want to waste money signing up with another hosting company (I signed up for a domain just today…).
Thank you for your advice!
http://wordpress.org/hosting/
I personally use Dreamhost and they are very affordable. I’d suggest dropping your current hosting provider and asking for a refund as they can’t provide simple services. Don’t bother using older versions of WordPress as in the future you will just run into problems as plugins and such will have compatibility problems. Most themes for example require WordPress 3.0 and higher.
