Very nice work. I’ve got this one bookmarked for a personal project, would be great though when the Buddypress/WooCommerce compatibility is confirmed, as I have a couple of client jobs it’d be great for. Just a couple of queries – can the admin panel be white labelled, and is there a boxed layout option?
On the white labeling – sure – there are a number of plugins that’ll white label the actual dashboard… and while I don’t have a separate admin panel for while labeling the Theme Options panel, it’s a relatively simple and painfree process (just open up the theme options file and change the text of your choosing). I personally don’t really add any branding in there for this very reason – no logos, “made by MDNW” statements or anything like that.
And yes – there’s a boxed layout option in the form of the skin builder option that allows you to set a BG color/image for the main content container In the demo it’s left blank which defaults to transparent, but if you give it a color (ie: white), you can add another color behind it for the main content BG and achieve the boxing.
Thanks for the reply, that all sounds great.
Just another quick query – are the premium plugins ‘standalone’ or are they built into the theme? The reason for asking is that when we quote for a new web job we would list any commercial plugins in the quote, so if a client wanted to change their theme, but retain the plugins at a later date then they could. Some themes we’ve bought have them built into the theme itself so they’re lost if the theme is changed. It’s not a problem, but it’s useful to know so we can provide an accurate quote for the job. Cheers
All of the plugins are “standalone” – they are included in the theme to aid in the installation process, but you can also keep them after you get rid of the theme… or you can install them on your own and the theme will recognize that it’s own versions aren’t required
We like to maintain a strict policy of plugins being undoctored and left in their original state for this very reason – plugins are meant for everyone to use and they add some great functionality to the theme (and the theme will often include some styling tweaks to make the output of the plugin better suited to the theme style), but they also should work perfectly without the theme.
Sorry, just another quick query – have you tested the theme with Gravity Forms? This is my go to form plugin, and have found it plays up a bit with some themes.
Not yet, but I’ll be doing so on Monday as part of the 1.1 rollout early next week GF usually integrates really easily though, so I don’t anticipate any issues. I’ve been using Contact Form 7 for my go-to form plugin and it integrated without a single line of code or styling.
Great stuff, I’ve got a Buddypress site to build in the next few weeks so I’ll keep checking back to see if the theme is compatible with this and the other plugins I’ve mentioned. Thanks for the replies!
Sounds good! BP won’t be ready in a few weeks (at least I don’t think it will) – but it’s officially part of our roadmap after WooCommere and Events Calendar – I’d say the ETA is next month for BP.
Q: How do I enable the scroll up button? Can’t seem to find it. Is that a plugin? Thanks!
That’s being done using the Dynamic Scroll to Top plugin – I forgot to add it to the 1.0 documentation, but I’ll add it in for 1.1 – you can grab it free from the plugins directory in your dashboard
I LOVE THIS THEME! I’m mainly a designer and have bult a fair few WP sites, I’ve tried various frameworks over the years but after playing around with Bones this morning it looks like this is the first one that seems to really allow you to build any layout (within reason) with 99% of the functionality you’re likely to need. Amazing work, thanks!
For some reason when I try and the homepage for my site using this theme I just get an excerpt of the page. Any ideas as to why?
It could be a couple things… have you gone through the whole Quick Start Guide? If you have and you are still encountering issues, send me a ticket at http://makedesign.ticksy.com/ with a login and I’ll be glad to assist
Great theme, so far – that’s why I bought it.
BUT i thought i would easily be able to combine the portfolio-style of the skeleton post-grid with some other elements (widgets, for instance) for a frontpage…? For now, it seems that the post-grid overrules anything made in the layout builder (?), eg. only the postgrid and an eventual slider in the header shows…
In your quick start guide you write that “You will be able to add your own further customizations to the frontpage in the Front Page tab at the left of this Theme Options panel. “
I don’t know if that would solve my problem, but the Front Page tab isn’t there in the first place!
I have a tweak coming in 3.1 that’ll allow you to have both the Skeleton Grid and the Layout Builder both working on the same page Hang tight and we’ll get that one out to ya as quickly as possible! Oh, and the “Front Page” tab was removed in the last update (the first one up on ThemeForest) as we replaced it with the in-page options panels – so you’re not missing anything, you’re just asking for a feature that hasn’t been finished up yet as it wasn’t part of the original build until a few people like yourself requested it!
Thanks for the answer – do you have any idea, when 3.1 will be ready? are we talking weeks, months, etc?
I’m aiming for releasing it later this week… I usually don’t like giving out release dates simply because I focus more on stability in new features rather than meeting arbitrary release timelines (releasing to fit timelines usually means bugs are allowed to slip by just so we can say we released something)... but yeah, it’s my personal goal to kick it out later this week
Hi, I just purchased this theme yesterday and have a question about the thin font in your demo version, which I think is Google’s API font “Source Open Sans”?
Mine seems to use another font instead and when I go to the > Theme Options, >Typography page, I don’t see that option in the font list?
How can I get the same exact font being used in your demo?
We’re using Source Sans Pro – http://tinyurl.com/p74y8zy
Let me know via a ticket at http://makedesign.ticksy.com if you run into any issues with that
Hi, I was wondering if your theme is compatible with woo commerce?
Not yet, but that’s going to be part of the first big version update. On the schedule is WooCommerce, Events Calendar Pro, and then we’re considering BuddyPress and some others. Each extension will raise the price of the theme by $5, so if you know that you’ll be using the theme, we’re recommending that you pick it up as you’ll get all updates in the future for free.
Also curious if compatible with woo commerce?
What? No child theme included with the install files? I know it’s not tragic to set up on my own but I’m pretty sure it’s required by the Geneva Convention. Pretty sure.
You made me LOL. Thanks for that. I’ll include a child theme in the next version update (I’m uploading it immediately, per the regulations set forth in the Kyoto Treaty, but it may take a few hours to be approved by the review staff here).
Oh, and yeah – usually we include a child theme without even thinking about it because it’s part of our usual theme kit that gets uploaded – I left it out this time because for the first time in ages, I built the folder from scratch… so yeah. Death by firing squad I suppose is the only civilized answer.
in your getting started guide it says in the downloaded file there is a resources file for downloading demo files. I dont see it at all? What is the easiest way to get demo content ?
I’ll be glad to send it to you directly over at http://makedesign.ticksy.com though, but just to be safe – are you 100% certain there’s no “Resources” folder right next to the License, Theme Files, and Theme ZIP folders? It’s not in the actual theme folder itself… it’s in the main folder that you download when you download the “Main File” from your Downloads page here on TF. You might have just downloaded the “installable WordPress file” instead… which might be a point of confusion as that’s just the theme file, not the whole package.
WOW! Looks like a great theme that had lots of thought and hard work put into it.. One question … Will Layer Slider work with your theme in place of Revolution?
I can’t really verify this as I haven’t tested it, but there’s absolutely no reason why it wouldn’t… we’re not doing anything really special to make Revolution work right now – it’s just the standard shortcode that the plugin gives you… so you should be able to drop the LayerSlider shortcode into the same spot and it’ll output the same way
great work. But I need to add text to the lightbox images, so it’s more like a portfolio. Is that possible?
Sure – I’ll double check for you – but in most of the situations where the lightbox is used, it’ll just grab the information from the image itself (caption, title, etc.) and you can edit it right in WordPress
I’d need more than just captions though … I kind’a need a portfolio almost, something to showcase product information.
Hmmm that’s definitely a bit trickier as the lightbox is more or less built just to show off individual images/videos and stuff like that… what you’d need is a full blown iframe inside the lightbox with a custom URL being loaded… something that’s definitely not what the existing lightbox is used for. The best solution I could come up with would be to just use the Skeleton Grid (Portfolio) template and link to full posts with the info that you need and bypass the lightbox altogether
Excellent theme but I seem to be having a problem adding google fonts. No matter which optional fonts I select, the page only shows the default ones. Is there something I am missing here? I’m using a child theme but that should not affect this. Thanks!
Can I get you to post this as a ticket with a private login over at http://makedesign.ticksy.com so I can take a peek at it for ya?
hey guys, any future plans to use ‘visual composer’ as a plugin, i have 2 sites i want to update however the content is all in VC. It will be a big hassle to convert to elegant themes builder…
Hmmm – interested question – I’ve been considering using VC for another theme just purely out of curiosity on my part… so there’s a chance that might happen… but here’s the good news for you: You could probably use Good Bones with VC without any real hassle on your part anyways. We integrate the Elegant Builder in a pretty simple way – you could just ignore it (dock the accordion for it) and proceed with VC as you please
The only stuff we’d add if we integrated VC would be some basic styling tweaks… it sounds like you’re already pretty familiar with it, so I’d imagine you’d be fine. So, my guess (granted I haven’t tested this out) is that you can probably already use VC with Good Bones and you just didn’t know it!
Theme looks AWESOME! Not that I’m a pro, I just know enough to be dangerous and create my own biz website
I have one question – I see it states custom headers and someone did ask a question about this before – but I’m specifically looking to create a header similar in design to several of your other themes – more like Point Break, Reason or Stand Out. Is that easily done with this theme via the header editor or custom CSS edits? Thank you much!
Sure! In your case, you’d want to opt for a light colored header and a dark logo to mimic some of those other designs… or you can wait a bit as we’ll likely be rolling out new themes on the new framework that match the styling of some of the older popular themes
This is the most unbelievable theme I have ever seen.
We don’t deserve you.
Couple questions about the menu, how easy is it to reduce the mouseover delay and speed up the rolldown animation?
Quite easy actually! I can give you instructions at the forum, but it’s literally just two number values in a simple js file that you can adjust
Hi, awesome theme!
- Can you maken the menu stay at the top when scrolling down, preferably into the top bar inbetween the text “the base theme for superskeleton2” and the social icons?
- When will superskeleton2 be launched?
1. You might be interested in checking out our Action theme – http://themeforest.net/item/action-a-multipurpose-business-theme/4844714 – It’s got the same stuff under the hood, but does the sticky-header thing that you’re referencing
2. Soon – We’re hoping to kick another theme or two out, then we’ll officially release Super Skeleton 2 as a theme in mid July.
