Hi I want to have a widget in the upper right corner. Is that possible? It’s for the language plugin qtranslate and is just for adding flags with the option to choose language.

I am not asking for this specific plugin but in general for that area of the page.

Hi,

If you want to add the info on home page as we did in our demo site, use the widget sidebar “Homepage Widgets Area” from “Appearance > Widgets”. These are the full shortcodes that we’re using in our demo site on home page:

I’m having trouble with the slider.

The directional arrows have disappeared (they worked previously and I have checked the settings) and I have never been able to get those circles under the slider to appear which you can navigate with. Any thoughts? thanks tendershoot.org

Please send your site url and I will check which portfolio template you use. In general in the php portfolio file from the main theme folder, make one replace in 2 places. Find:

'sort_column' => 'menu_order',
'order' => 'desc',

and change with:

'orderby' => 'menu_order',
'order' => 'asc',

I’ve changed the font on the main nav menu and I’ve noticed that on an Android phone the drop down part of the menu do not show up clearly. Could you please have a look and let me know if this is something I can fix with some css – and what would be the code for that.

For mobile devices, the menu was made to work only without submenus. I will upload tomorrow new update and the menu on mobile devices will be displayed with select box as on other themes.

Can you please explain how to “use” the URL you supplied below? Specifically: how do you use a Vimeo embed with the slider? It’s in the demo, so it must be possible – can you please provide step by step instructions?

Directions on how to use vimeo video in the slider – we just need documentation. And it needs to be something more than “use something like this” – we need to know where to put the URL – which fleld, in which dialogue box. Thank you.

I know there is a “URL” tab when you go into “Featured Image” dialog, to “Add media from a URL ”, but when I select “Insert media from another website” I don’t know the correct syntax to link to the vimeo video.

I’m trying both the Vimeo embed “iframe” syntax and the URL for the video page, and neither is acceptable – I get a big red “X”.

How/where do we enter the Video URL , and is the Video URL the entire embed code, or just the video page on Vimeo?

Hi there, this post just to submit a weird bug concerning “free quote” shortcode.

Context: Chrome (latest stable), Windows. Weird text appears on punctuation signs when non-breaking space “ ” is used before.

Steps to reproduce: - Widgets / homepage widgets area / text widget: paste the following dummy text: [free_quote url="#" button_title="ok got it"] want free quote&_nbsp;? Get it here&_nbsp;![free_quote] - save and display homepage in Chrome: the non-breaking space character seems to mess up the text. Same problem occurs with columns shortcodes, so I assume the text inside shortcodes is not properly parsed.

Any help greatly appreciated, since my home country typographic rules require non-breaking spaces before question or interrogation marks.

Hi, thanks for answering but don’t call me stupid. The shortcode was correctly closed by [/free_quote], I just made a typo in the upper example.

Soooooo I renew my question : can you just try to add a “&_nbsp;” (obviously without underscore, it is just added because otherwise it wouldn’t appear) inside a shortcode from this theme and let me know if you see some weird character on Chrome.

So you call me stupid twice ? Nice shot, dude. Don’t do it too much, I could get upset.

I used an underscore on purpose because of this shitty html editor here in the comments. In the real website I DO USE correct spelling for &nbsp. Just TRY IT YOURSELF : type & n b s p ; (without spaces, bummer) inside a shorcode in that theme and you will see it’s all f*d up on Chrome when you add a non-breaking space inside one of your theme’s shortcode.

Hi.

Trying to hear back from you is proving difficult.

I do not understand the logic behind having to set “Reading” to “display all posts” when in fact, I want the default page to be a static page?

If I do this, The slider now shows up properly on the default page, (and stops magically appearing on the “blogs” page) except there is then no “home” page to edit/add content to anymore. How is this accomplished?

If I choose “static” page as you can do with any other WordPress theme, the slider shows up with thumbnails instead of full sized images. In both cases, the “paging” dots do not show up at all, anywhere.

There are so many mysteries with this theme, and it doesn’t seem to work like the example page at all.

Hi,

The default homepage was made with slider and “Latest Work” section, that can be disabled in “GoodMinimal Options > Portfolio Settings > Hide Portfolio from Homepage”. To add the info between the slider and “Latest Work” section, use the widget sidebar from “Appearance > Widgets > HomePage Widgets Area”.

If I choose “Hide Portfolio From Homepage” this has no impact on the fact that I can’t set a default static homepage, and a default static Blog page. In fact, nothing changed when I did that.

It simply seems like you have things wired up incorrectly in the theme. Choosing a Static Homepage is a very common occurance with WP themes, and shouldn’t break the way anything else loads when this is done. Likewise, setting a static page to display Blog posts should also just work.. and not break the way the homepage loads. I understand that you can “get it to work” by setting things that way, but it is illogical and non-standard to the way WP themese normally work.

Hello – I see your widget code above for the home page (from Aug22). Unfortunately, my clients ARE NOT PROGRAMMERS . The widgets function is a great way to enable NON -PROGRAMMERS to edit their site. Have you broken this metaphor?

Most template authors will allow me to create three separate widgets for the standard three-column layout under the slider, allowing me to use the STANDARD widget header & body features built into Wordpress. Do I have to use your arcane coding system? I’m fine to do it myself (I’m a programmer), but the WHOLE POINT of using Wordpress is that I can hand it off to my clients without forcing them to read your documentation. They should NEVER have to type something like “one_third_last” just to get a widget, nor should I have to worry that they’ll accidentally delete my own use of that shortcode.

Am I missing something, or am I justifiably pissed? I hope I’m missing something!

Actually, I DO understand. What you don’t understand is that there’s a big difference between shortcodes that a programmer should use [one_third_last] and shortcodes that an end-user should use [youtube].

If the site were for me ~~- programming 20 years, two webby awards -~~ I’d be fine with the crazy widget code you posted above. But it’s not. The site is for my client, who happens to be a massage therapist. She shouldn’t need to learn all that stuff; that’s the whole point of using Wordpress in the first place.
