What a nice job on this theme! Elegant, intuitive structure. Thank you for your fine work on this!

One question: can we override the shadow or reduce opacity? Not sure where it’s hiding in the CSS to work the panel.

Thank you for your consideration!

SkatDesign

Hi there and thank you.

Please let me know which shadow. The one to the entire content section?

Cheers!

Sorry about that. Yes, main shadow, thank you.

SkatDesign

Go to your WP dashboard > Gotham Options > Styling Options and paste this in the “Custom CSS ” box:

#wrapper {
    box-shadow: 0 0 20px #000000;
}

This is the default shadow. Change the #000000 color (black) to your desired one.

If you want to keep it black but just reduce the opacity paste this code instead:

#wrapper {
    box-shadow: 0 0 20px rgba(0, 0, 0, .8);
}

Where .8 is how transparent is the shadow. You can go down to .1 or up to .9

Cheers!

Hello!

Great theme. Everything is working awesome so far except one thing…

I pull up the theme on my iphone 4, and it seems to switch to a mobile format of the website. The menu is converted into a dropdown, and the slider is scaled down. Also, when I try and upload a custom logo, the logo seems to stay the same size while everything else is scaled down. Is there any way to maybe “turn off” the mobile version? Please let me know! Thanks alot!

Hi there,

If you want to remove the “responsiveness” go to the theme’s folder > admin and edit the file named “theme-functions.php”. From line 33 and 34 remove this code:

wp_register_style('responsive', get_template_directory_uri() . '/styles/responsive.css', 'style');
wp_enqueue_style( 'responsive');

Save. Done.

Cheers!

Just made the fix. Still did not take away the dropdown menu at the top.. and you cannot “pinch” the screen to make it zoom out. It seems to be stuck waay zoomed in. (if that makes sense :P) What I’m after is for the site to look the exact same on a laptop and the phone. Is this possible without changing too much code? Please let me know, and I appreciate the prompt reply ;)

SkatDesign

Hi,

Yes, it will look the same, but I forgot to tell you to remove another piece of code. Sorry for that.

Go to the theme’s folder and edit the file named “functions.php”. Remove this code from line 65 and 66:

   wp_register_script('mobile-menu', get_template_directory_uri() . '/js/jquery.mobilemenu.js', false, '', true);
   wp_enqueue_script('mobile-menu');

Now, go to the “js” folder and edit the file named “custom.js”. From line 153 to 157 remove this code:

//mobile menu
    $('#nav').mobileMenu({
        switchWidth: 767,
        prependTo: '#header'
        });

Save. Done.

The theme will display the same on both desktop and mobile devices.

Cheers!

Right On! Got the menu working properly. It still seems to “zoom” in all the way on the phone however…

I bought the theme with the impression it would look the same as it does when you go to “Live Preview” on this page underneath the Gotham Splash. On my phone, it shows the i-frame at the top of the page and the rest of the Gotham sample theme all the way “zoomed out.” This is how I would like my theme to function. I can better illustrate by showing you screenshots on my phone. I uploaded them so you can see…

http://www.spikestyle.com/screenshots/yours.png Above is the screenshot on my iphone 4 of the live preview. All of the way “zoomed” out. http://www.spikestyle.com/screenshots/mine.png This is the screenshot of my project. I want to make it clear that I cannot “pinch” the screen and make it zoom out. I am sure there is an easy fix as same as the menu.

I apologize for being a pain. Haha it is the reason why I bought the theme was that it looked the way it does on the phone as well as desktops. This is a little snag that other people might run into, so it is a good thread to have on your page for reference. The glass is half full right? ;) Thank you so much! SO PROMPT LOVE IT !!

SkatDesign

Hey,

No worries, I’m here to help and it will look how you want in the end, don’t worry :)

It’s weird that the demo is working and on your website doesn’t.

Try also this: go to the theme’s folder and edit the “header.php”. On line 39 just after the ending title tag remove this:

<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width; initial-scale=1.0; maximum-scale=1.0; user-scalable=0;" />

Save. Done.

Let me know how’s going.

Cheers!

Hi GinaAlessia,

Viewing your Demo of Gotham… When I click on your “Kings Fish House” image link, it takes me to this page: http://www.freaklife.com/gotham/portfolio/kings/

The image & description is on the left and there is a sidebar on the right.

A.) Is there a way to create this portfolio page on a “Full Page” template, so you don’t need a sidebar? That way, you could take advantage of your columns shortcodes, etc.

And…

B.) Can you have multiple images for one Portfolio item? Or can they be taller / wider than the current image you’re showing for King’s Fish House?

Thank you,

buzzexpress

SkatDesign

Hi there and thank you for your interest.

1. It is possible to remove the sidebar but the content will need re-stylization to fit the full screen. Note: The column shortcodes do work the current format.

2. The current portfolio item is pulling the featured image set for the post. Additional images can be inserted into the page normally like you do in a normal blog post. With the current set up that is the maximum width, otherwise it will overlap the sidebar.

Cheers!

Hi GinaAlessia:

Really nice theme. I will buy it but I have a couple of pre-sales questions:

Is It possible to add third level menus/navigation items??

Is It easy to show them as you do in http://www.freaklife.com/gotham/blog/ on the left or right side bar??

Waiting to hear from you, thanks in advance

Luis

SkatDesign

Hi there and thank you for your interest.

The menu supports three levels of navigation so yes you can. And you also can put them in the sidebar with the help of the “Custom Menu” widget.

How do I setup the footer like you have on the demo preview?

Couple items.

1. How do I change links in the foot to show white instead of black. They become white when hover over, but I want them to be white so they can be seen without hovering.

Also, how do I add a map image to the contact info in the footer?

Thanks for your help.

SkatDesign

Hi there,

1. Go to the theme options page > Styling Options and paste this in the “Custom CSS ” box:

#footer a {
color: #fff;
}

Save. Done.

2. To set up the footer like the demo page you simply add the specific widgets (eg. Flickr) to the footer sidebars. To add the map just create a text widget and paste the google map shortcode as in the following example:

[googlemap id=”21” width=”190” height=”88” address=”Munchen” zoom=”10”]

Having trouble figuring out how to use custom menus with this theme. WP says it only allows 2. That doesn’t seem right. In the preview they’re all laid out nicely on the top but I am only able to create one at a time. If I add more, the new one simply REPLACES the old one. HELP please!

OK, disregard previous comment, I figured it out. I do have a couple other questions however:

1. How do you remove the menu/page titles from the bottom of the page?

2. How do you configure the (4) 3 Columns portfolio? Can’t quite figure it out.

Thank you for your help!

SkatDesign

Hi there,

1. You must go to the theme’s folder and edit the file named “footer.php”. From line 38 to 54 remove this code:

<!-- footer menu -->
  <div class="footer_menu">
    <?php
// Using wp_nav_menu() to display menu
wp_nav_menu( array(
    'menu' => 'Footer', // Select the menu to show by Name
    'class' => '',
    'menu_class' =>'',
    'menu_id' => '',
    'after'           => '<span> / </span>',
    'container' => false, // Remove the navigation container div
    'theme_location' => 'Footer'
    )
);
?>
  </div>
  <!-- footer end -->

2. Yeah, there are 4 not 3. I forgot to change that. You must create a new page (eg. Work) and assign it the “3 Columns Portfolio” template. Then simply add your items from “Portfolio” section. Don’t forget to set up a featured image for each item.

Smoooooooooooooth! :)

Can be stretched or just boxy?

Nice work!

SkatDesign

Hi there,

Could you explain a little bit more? :)

Cheers!

Default-user

:) In demo your theme is in a box mode! Often themes come with options where they can be stretched as well.

Nice work though.

SkatDesign

I understand now, but no, the theme only is only boxed.

Permissions…

So, all installed and looking good. Although,

I cant change the background textures and the sliders in the options menu to adjust the logo padding don’t work. I think this could be down to file permissions on server?

I had to build this site again as the last site was hacked and lost (I had to change permissions for the last template and just made the whole of the http docs folder 777… whoops!). So, can you tell me please what files / folders specifically need permissions changing? Or tell me this isn’t a permission issue and guide how to fix please!

SkatDesign

Hi there,

Yeah, making the whole folder 777 is not a good ideea :)

Go to the theme’s folder > styles and change permissions to 755 or 777 to the “custom_options.css” and you will be good to go. Try first with 755 and then if it’s not workin change to 777.

Cheers!

Perfecto ! For your future reference it needed 777.

Just want to take the time to say that I have over 300 websites and this is by far the best theme I have used. Not primarily in looks, but in the back office / ease of use and ease of changing options / parameters.

Well done to you.

Hi there,

Extract the content of the archive you’ve downloaded and inside you’ll find a folder named “help”. Open the “index” file in that folder to read the doc.

Nice theme, I like it and bought it. But I kept having trouble with the contact page. How can I remove from the Contact Form “Company Name” line. Or maybe just change the “company name” words part instead.

Also, in the Footer, I want to link to another website but using an code isn’t working. It keeps referencing the current site i’m on in the URL then adds the website I’m trying to send it to.

Example: site: www.deadfarm.com Footer: An RGV Screams Production (where RGV Screams is the hyperlink), but the URL sends to: http://deadfarm.com/%22http:/rgvscreams.com/

SkatDesign

Hi there,

1. This is happening due to the “magic quotes” setting of your php server. It is recommended to turn it off, but if you don’t know/want to do it here’s what you need to do:

go to the theme’s folder and edit the file named “footer.php”. On line 32 replace this:

$data['footer_copyright_text']

with this:

stripslashes($data['footer_copyright_text'])

Save. Done.

2. If you want to rename the “company name” field:

a) To rename the label go to the theme’s folder > admin and edit the file named “shortcodes.php”. On line 1020 and 1040 you’ll find the text.

b) To remove the field go to line 1020 and remove this:

__('Company Name', 'framework').": $company_name \n\n".

And from line 1053 to 1056 remove this:

<p>
<label for="companyName">{$company_label}</label>
<input type="text" name="companyName" id="companyName" value="" class="requiredField" />
</p>

Save. Done.

Cheers!

There are some features I’d really ike.

First, an archive page and a site links page.

I am not sure how easy blog post management would be with this theme if a lot of posts are generated.

Second, I need the JQuery Ken Burns type of slider plugins on CodeCanyon especially the version for mobile I think is called KenBurner. Would it be possible to add this slider to any page, especially the home page instead of the current slides?

Also… I looked at all of your responsive themes. Some of your page demos do not display in IE9 but are fine in FireFox 12. What happens is the menus turn into text. This happens on the freaklife website too.

I would like to see a screen shot photo of how the menu looks on mobile phones like Android and also IOS system.

There are several sections divided by lines on the home page; Hi There, Dynamic Development area, Featured Work area, Solutions that…etc. Can any of these be deleted from the home page layout?

In the portfolio, is it possible to put clickable text on the picture and also below the picture area and/or a payment button there?

I would like to use a child theme can you supply the get started files?

Is there a “dummy” content demo site that can be easily imported to get started quickly?

Would you help with making these changes?

Thank you.

SkatDesign

Hi there,

1. The blog management is just like most of the themes out there. You set up a page with the “Blog” template and the posts will be displayed on that page.

2. I honestly don’t know. I never tested the theme with that plugin so I can’t tell you if it works or not.

3. It works fine in all browser except for the menu in IE9 . IE9 doesn’t handle well the “transformation” of the menu into a select list, but I’ve come up with a solution and I’ll update the theme soon.

4. I can provide screenshots of the theme for the iPad and iPhone. For Android I can only provide a screenshot from the Android environment generated on a PC test server.

5. Yes, you can remove the image separators easily.

6. I guess it’s possible if you have some coding skills.

7. The theme doesn’t support child themes due to it’s control panel.

8. Yes, the theme comes with an importable .xml dump file.

9. Some of them, like 1, 3, 4. The rest are beyond my support responsibilities, especially the ones that need implementing of additional code and third party plugins.

If you have other questions please don’t hesitate to ask me.

Cheers!

sapere_aude

1: Backend management. Does it have a drag and drop page builder?

4. Perhaps you can put the pictures on the screen shots page here so everyone can see them?

5. Can any of these sections be deleted from the home page layout?

7. I do not understand why themes cannot all be designed to use child themes. Is it possible to make this theme capable of using a child theme in a future revision?

9. Of course, if these aspects needed something extra I understand. Sometimes the backend admin offers means to affect changes that are not in the demo. Do you offer your services for extra cost for such changes?

My other concern is if an issue occurs I may not know the source of it, whether it be the theme or some added plug-in, so I may need to ask about it.

I noticed from the comments that you offer your theme customers fantastic customer support.

Thank you very much for answering my questions!

SkatDesign

Hi,

1. The drag&drop is only available for the homepage layout (enable/disable/arrange sections) and for the featured slider.

4. Sure, I’ll look into it.

5. They can be enabled/disabled. For example the areas above and below the “Featured Work” section can be filled with anything you want. You can build an entire new layout with the help of shortcodes/custom code in those areas.

7. The admin panel core is not built by me. I just took it and expanded the code further to fit my needs. The main author did not make it compatible with child themes by default and honestly I didn’t look much into it (laziness?:) )

9. It depends on the complexity of the changes. For small ones I may do them even for free. Though, I rarely do more complex changes due to my limited time.

As for any problems encountered with third party plugins or additional code that you may add, I’m def. here for help if I can/know.

Cheers!

Hi Ginaalessia, Have just bought Gotham wordpress theme. Have tried to upload but fails. Downloaded a second time and tried again. Have now tried several times! Help! I’ve used wordpress lots, and I’m not doing anything different but after uploading it goes to a screen which says “are you sure you want to do this? Please try again” and the tab says ‘wordpress failure notice’ Andrea

SkatDesign

Hi there,

Are you trying to upload the whole archive that you’ve downloaded?

If so, you mustn’t. The archive contains more than just the theme. It has the help files, the .psd source and an archive of the theme.

You must extract the content of it first and then upload the archive inside named “gotham.zip”.

Cheers!

  • Bought between 1 and 9 items

Hi,

Thanks for the speedy response. Have extracted content and uploaded ‘gotham.zip’

Now getting this message….

The uploaded file exceeds the upload_max_filesize directive in php.ini.

A

SkatDesign

That is an error from your php server. You must increase the size limit of the uploaded files.

To do that you must edit the file named “php.ini” of your server and change the “upload_max_filesize” setting.

Example:

upload_max_filesize = 16M

If you don’t know where your “php.ini” file is located or don’t have access to it, you must contact your hosting provider and ask them to make the change for you.

Cheers!
