I’m having a hard time getting a full screen width slideshow in portfolio items. Is there a setting somewhere I’m overlooking?

I have an image 1900 pixels wide, have the gallery set to full image, extended width, crop images. It only fills the container width of the content, not the whole screen.

What am I missing?

never mind, I figured it out.

Ehi guys, nice theme!

I would like to buy it but i need an answer to this question:

can i have a masonry layout also for the gallery ?

thanks!

Hi Ilmattiapascal,

Thanks so much for your interest! I’d be happy to answer any questions you may have.

This isn’t a feature of the theme. The closest thing would be a regular gallery grid (where all the images are the same square size). You’d need to make some customizations to the theme to achieve this. This type of alteration would go beyond the scope of support for the theme. Complex modifications like this will require you to implement the changes yourself or hire a 3rd party programmer to assist you.

Let me know if you have any other questions,

Andre

Hello. How are you?

I wanted to know if there will be a new update of your template. If you contain new features, etc.

It has really enjoyed it. Today is the template of my personal website and I would like to make improvements.

Thank You

regards

Paul

Hi Paul,

Thanks for purchasing my theme! I really appreciate it!

If you’re planning on making improvements/customizations to the theme, I suggest creating a child theme so you can still update without losing your changes.

There will likely be additional updates to the theme in the future, and this is the best way to make customizations while still being able to update. There isn’t one that will be out in the immediate future, but you can count on additional updates down the line.

To provide you with more efficient support, I ask that all questions be asked on the Support Forum. If you’re still having issues, feel free to start a new thread over there and I’d be happy to help! Thanks!

HI, I’m very interested to purchase this theme. I’ve some questions. 1) Is it possible to set the position of the sidebar (left or right) in each page? 2) is it possible to set the ‘regular slideshow’ with the text caption not covering the picture but under the picture? thanks very much

2winFactor

Hi Lowbat,

Thanks so much for your interest! I’d be happy to answer any questions you may have.

1) The only layout available with the theme is with a sidebar on the right. It’s possible to put the sidebar on the left for some pages, but it would involve some customizations to the theme.

2) You’d need to make some customizations to the theme to achieve this. It wouldn’t be too complex, but you’d need to add some custom css to your theme’s custom css box to accomplish this.

Let me know if you have any other questions,

Andre

Hi, I am using the theme for a site redesign. I want to keep a lot of my old content, e.g. blog posts. What is the best thing to do? Back up the database and site, then import your demo data, then reimport my content?

Thanks

2winFactor

HI Qwaerstd,

The demo data is only necessary if you want to recreate the demo site content exactly. If you only want to update your site design using your own content (and not content from the demo site) then I wouldn’t import the demo data. Importing the demo data isn’t necessary in order to use the theme.

What existing site are you trying to upgrade? If your old theme uses a custom post type for portfolio items, they may or may not translate into Gridstack (depending on how your old post types were coded). Posts and pages will translate just fine. If you need any more information before you use the theme, just let me know!

Andre

Hi there, Awesome theme! Just bought it and couldn’t be happier! Just one question: Can you tell me what the best sizes are for the thumbnails in the portfolio grid? I’m now using 800×600, 600×600 and 600×300. But when I look at my grid they don’t align perfectly like yours do in the demo. Resolution is fine, it’s just alignment I can’t figure out. Can you help me?

Did I tell you this theme is awesome? I already did, but it’s that good! If you wan’t to see the website I’m talking about, it’s www.thinkboxdesign.nl. Cheers! Renske

2winFactor

Hi Renske,

Haha! So glad you like it! :) And thanks for purchasing my theme! I really appreciate it!

Do you mean so they’re straight across the bottom? The theme will arrange the grid items so they fit together (so there’s no spaces in the grid). This means that sometimes the bottom won’t be an even line because of the different sizes thumbnails. I actually don’t mind this, but if you want them to be straight across the bottom, you’ll need to play around with the sizes of your grid items to achieve this. You can adjust each individual size on the portfolio edit page (either Big, Square or Slim).

Hello,

I’m planning on buying the theme, and would like to know if it’s possible to add comments to the individual portfolios.

Thank you

2winFactor

Hi Bruno,

Thanks for purchasing my theme! I really appreciate it!

Sure! However, you’ll need to make some modifications to the theme. I recommend downloading a child theme for GridStack:

http://support.themewich.com/kb/updating-your-theme/how-to-create-a-child-theme

Once you’ve downloaded the child theme, unzip it and add a blank functions.php file to the gridstack folder. Open functions.php and add this:

http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=rzq56xjB

Then create a functions folder in your child theme, and inside a templates folder. Then add a file called standard-portfolio.php. Inside that file paste this:

http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=UrtenB2V

You should then have comments enabled in your portfolio items.

hi,

have there been any known issues/bugs re: google maps with this theme? have tried 2 different map plugins and the map disapears when navigated to from the main nav, but then appears on reload.

thanks

2winFactor

Hi Stackr,

Iframes don’t like to be loaded via ajax. You can embed google maps in the theme, but you’d need to turn off the ajax navigation in Theme Options > Ajax.

I don’t understand how I can get the team members into a page, like your example here: http://themewich.com/gridstack/about/

How is this done? Is there a short code or a theme setting?

2winFactor

Hi Miladavaz,

Thanks for purchasing my theme! I really appreciate it!

That was created using column social icon shortcodes using the Themewich Shortcodes plugin.

You can create this by adding a new page with a full-width template. Then, switch to the text view in your content editor and copy and paste this:

http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=x4ykZRhn

Then switch back to the visual tab. You can replace your images with your own images, and replace the social shortcode links as well.

For more information on the shortcodes and how to use them, check out the documentation included with your theme.

Hi,

first of all, i think your theme is realy one of the better ones in themeforest. Especially because your theme is done with much love also to the details.

The only thing i had headache is your fluid grid. Your wordpress image sizes are: slim: 420, 210 square: 420, 425 big: 790, 598

it’s important if you upload a image for one of these thumbnails that the original dimensions of the uploaded images are above these numbers!

p.s. Why can’t you explain such a important information in the docu or even on your themeforest article page while on the other side you explain how to edit the Page Intro across one hole page in the docu. This are 4 textfields and when i’m looking on your demo site it’s very easy to understand the Page Intro. But information like how the grid system and cut images are working and in wich relation they are among themeselves are not so easy to retrive. It got me about a view hours to check this. maybe i’m not the typical customer?! i’m a developer just coding myself wordpress sites and i even coded a comercial theme. And sometimes clients ask me to redesign a theme buyed on themeforest, so for me is a short development time very important.

But no worries your theme is well done! I like it much :) best regards robert

2winFactor

Hi Nexil,

Thanks for purchasing my theme! I really appreciate it!

And thanks for the suggestion! I’ll have to add more image size information to the documentation. You can use other sized images, the grid just won’t fit together as evenly as the demo.

Hi, does this theme supports GIFs?

2winFactor

Hi Josephinetan13,

Yes, the theme supports gifs provided they are the correct size when uploaded. WordPress will attempt to resize the images if they don’t meet the theme sizes. When WordPress resizes images, they lose their animation properties. However, if the images is already the correct size, WordPress will leave it alone.

For instance, if you’re using the big size image thumbnail on the homepage, the gif image would need to be exactly 790×598.

Let me know if you have any other questions,

Andre

I have a client who has purchased your theme for their site.

The shortcode plugin says it’s installed and activated but the icon doesn’t show up in my wysiwyg editor.

Any help?

2winFactor

Hi Joseph,

I need to verify purchase for the theme in order to provide support. You’ll need to create an account on the Support Forum I’d be happy to help!

In the mean time, you could try updating your shortcodes plugin to the latest version:

https://bitbucket.org/themewich/themewich-shortcodes

Also, I would try deactivating all non-theme plugins to rule out a problematic plugin.

Hi 2WinFactor,

Great theme! I’ve been really enjoying customizing the site so far, but hit a snag.

For some reason the Portfolio page’s filters are all messed up… its showing entire excerpts and lines of code from each portfolio item. Can you look and see whats up?

Heres the link:

Thanks!

2winFactor

Hi Mapa,

Thanks for purchasing my theme! I really appreciate it!

It looks like you’re using a child theme with some alterations. Did you edit template-portfolio.php or make any alterations to the wp_list_categories function? I’m thinking this is a result of a customization.

Hello 2WinFactor!

Just purchased your template. Absolutely love it, fantastic work! My website is coming along nicely however there is one feature I see, that is possible to add – But I have no idea how to do so! :(

- It’s depicted on your LIVE PREVIEW section, Where it says, “Meet Gridstack .We are a unique interactive agency. We bring a crafted and inspired approach…” etc etc.

There is a series of three images, which can be selected by clicking the small circles located on the right.

How do I add this lovely feature to my new website? Sorry for being a bother!

King regards. Hamza 8-)

2winFactor

Hi Hamza,

Thanks for purchasing my theme! I really appreciate it!

No worries! It’s no bother! I’m happy to help. First, you’ll want to set up your homepage by creating a new page and giving it a template of “Homepage”. Then, below the page content area, you should see a box called “Page Intro”. Add text to the Intro headline, intro subheadline, button text, button link. You can create more slides by clicking “Add More” or re-arranging them by dragging the handle in the order of your choice.

Once you’ve published your homepage, make sure you set it to your static front page setting under Settings > Reading.

If you need any help along the way, feel free to jump on the Support Forum and I’d be happy to help! Thanks!

Hello 2 Win Factor, I love your template, fantastic work!

I tried commenting this question before, but i’m not sure if it has worked.

On the LIVE PREVIEW section, You have a series of 3 images/text, “Meet Gridstack” is the first – which can be selected by clicking on 3 different circles.

How do I add this feature to my website?

Hi Hamza,

I posted earlier, but I’ll post here again in case the other comment didn’t work.

Hello!

How can I have the contact detail in another column. I’ve been trying different things, but still don’t know.. http://www.youlovedesign.com/contact/

I want to look like this:

http://themewich.com/previews/?product=gridstack

Thanks

2winFactor

Hi MariaAlonso,

Thanks for purchasing my theme! I really appreciate it!

To duplicate the contact page in the demo, you’ll want to add your sidebar content to the contact page sidebar. You can do that by navigating to Appearance > Widgets and adding “Text Widgets” to the “Contact Page Sidebar”.

Hi, I have a client who purchased this and wanted me to set it up for him. I was wondering if it had the capability to do what this theme does. http://avathemes.com/HTML5/Pretty/#prettyPhoto

Which is when showing the portfolio it has the categories in a picture. Can we do something like this with your theme?

For the portfolio within the footer area is there are way to make the portfolio sample order by date or project order?

2winFactor

Hi TheWomble,

Thanks for purchasing my theme! I really appreciate it!

By default the widget should arrange by whatever order you set in Portfolio > Reorder. There is a small bug in the theme that we’re pushing out an update for:

How do I achieve this?
