Hi, we like your template a lot! (We are fashion brand)

I would like ask you if is there any way to use bigger logo of our brand – for example 130×130 px. Sorry, maby it is trivial question, but I am not experienced with wordpress templates at all.

Thank you.

2winFactor

Hi Rattar,

Yep! the theme can accommodate a multitude of logo sizes. Just upload your logo to the Theme Options panel. The theme automatically will center your logo with the navigation, no matter what size.

Let me know if you have any other questions,

Andre

OK, sounds good, thank you for your fast reply.

One more question. It is possible to use two language versions?

2winFactor

Hi Rattar,

I’m currently working on getting this compatible with WPML – I haven’t officially tested it yet, but I will be within the next couple weeks. I’ll definitely have more to report then!

Thanks for the great theme and looking into the FF thing. Unquestionably one of the very best on here. With all the respect in the world even some of the other leading authors on here could learn from this theme – super easy to use, highly intuitive backend and immaculate code.

To any potential buyer you will NOT be disappointed. Thanks again

2winFactor

Hi Charlie,

Wow! Thank you! Would you mind if I used your testimonial on the item page?

Also, the FF gallery issue, just open style.css and find line 2427 and change this:

.gallery-icon {
  position:relative;
  z-index:2;
  overflow:hidden;
}

to this:

.gallery-icon {
  position:relative;
  z-index:2;
  overflow:hidden;
  float:left;
}

I think WordPress’ gallery css was overwriting the theme’s float, so I just added another float declaration. I’ve submitted an updated version of the theme which is currently being reviewed, so if you just wanted to wait and update you could do that instead!

Thanks!

Andre

Hi Andre, yes of course use the testimonial that’s no problem. I got the update so all is good and theme works like a dream. Thanks again

Love this theme, it is beautiful. Just have one pre-purchase question: On the homepage where you show the alternating text, is this a slider where you can have a background image behind the text? Also wanting to know if a background image on the home page can extend to the navigation bar area so that the image is in the background.

I think the first question was asked earlier in the comments and you asked for clarification.

Thanks!

2winFactor

Hi hhursey,

The homepage slider is currently text-only. However, you can have an image behind the text too. Here’s an example:

http://themewich.com/gridstack/page-title-rotator/

For your second question, are you talking about the homepage slider background? That’s not a feature that’s included with the theme. It’s possible, but it would involve some more complicated alterations to the theme.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Andre

Default-user

I see now where the home page uses the title-rotator absent a background pic.

On the second question, I have an idea for a work-around where I could set the background color for the nav-bar the same as the background color for the title rotator image. Is that a simple selection in Theme Options?

Thanks again

2winFactor

Hi hhursey,

Sure, you could change the color of the top nav bar. You’d only need to enter it into the custom css box in Theme Options > Customize:

.top-nav {
background: #ff0000;
}

I’m working on adding some more customization options via the Theme Customizer, but in the mean time this can be accomplished with some custom css.

Andre

Default-user

Of course I would use Photoshop to match the colors exactly…..

Great theme, but can’t seem to get it to work for the life of us!

When we import the test posts it’s fine, but anything new won’t go up! We compared the test posts with our own blog post, and it looked identical, the only way we could get it to show, was to go into the ‘custom fields’ of the post, and add in ‘homepage_order’, then it shows, sadly the ‘portfolio’ section doesn’t have a custom fields box, and it’s not ideal to have to change it every time, is it a bug? Thanks.

2winFactor

Hi RichardSpencerDavies,

Thanks for letting me know! Yes, I believe that’s a bug with the dummy content and adding new posts. Try adding this to the end of your functions.php file:

add_action('publish_portfolio', 'themewich_add_field_automatically');
add_action('publish_post', 'themewich_add_field_automatically');
function themewich_add_field_automatically($post_ID) {
    global $wpdb;
    if(!wp_is_post_revision($post_ID)) {
        add_post_meta($post_ID, 'homepage_order', '0', true);
    }
}

That should automatically create that custom field when you publish a post or a portfolio item. It should work, but let me know if it doesn’t. I’ll have to update the theme to fix! Thanks for letting me know!

Hi Andre,

Comes up with an error:

Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /nfs/c07/h03/mnt/105397/domains/.com/html/wp-content/themes/gridstack/functions.php:1683) in /nfs/c07/h03/mnt/105397/domains/.com/html/wp-admin/post.php on line 222

2winFactor

Hi Richard,

A “headers already sent” error indicates an extra line at the end of your functions.php file (after the closing ?>). Can you confirm there’s no extra (blank) line there?

Andre

RichardSpencerDavies

Sweet, no errors now, but still not showing up on homepage.

2winFactor

Hi Richard,

Have you selected that you want them to be “Featured on the Homepage”? On your edit post or edit portfolio page, in the upper right hand corner there’s a “feature on homepage” box. Can you confirm that you’ve selected “Yes” there?

Andre

2winFactor

Also, you’ll need to re-publish those posts you’ve added again to have it add to the field.

Andre

RichardSpencerDavies

Ahh, that was it, thanks! Just one last question, when I add a gallery slideshow (with one image, similar to this: http://themewich.com/gridstack/portfolio/barber-shop-logo/) even though my image is 2000 pixels wide, it is restricted to 1500, can this be changed, doesn’t look great on a big screen, thanks.

2winFactor

Hi Richard,

Sure, it can be changed. The theme resizes it to 1500px to make sure the loading time is nice and snappy. I wouldn’t recommend going too much wider than that. Just open functions.php and find this line:

add_image_size( 'fullslideshow', 1500, 600, true); // Full Slideshow Cropped
add_image_size( 'fullslideshownc', 1500, '', false); // Full Slideshow UnCropped

Change “1500” to whatever you like:

add_image_size( 'fullslideshow', 2000, 600, true); // Full Slideshow Cropped
add_image_size( 'fullslideshownc', 2000, '', false); // Full Slideshow UnCropped

Then just be sure to install and run the “regenerate thumbnails” plugin to regenerate them to the new size.

This theme may just do it for one of my clients (a violin builder)... simple and elegant… first big question: Since I can’t see what the admin panel looks like (is it available somewhere to see?)... Can I assume that the background color of the site and font colors, etc are all changeable?

Thanks… Jeff

(changed to “of the site”)

2winFactor

Hi Jeff,

I’m working on getting screenshots of the admin and Theme Options. As of right now, you can change the “highlight” color and background image on the theme via the Theme Customizer. You can also change specific font styles via the Theme Options panel. Any other color customizations you need to do with some custom css in the custom css box in the Theme Options. I’ll be working on adding more customization options in some upcoming updates.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Well done on a fantastic theme. I’m glad you used shortcodes and not page builders. Had the theme up and running in 5 minutes with the demo content. Very well built and I love the ajax! Only thing I’d suggest as constructive criticism is maybe an improvement on the footer? it just lets the rest of the fantastic minimal look of the theme down in my opinion and also doesn’t have a copyright text at the bottom. (my 2 cents worth).

2winFactor

Hi Agilecorp,

Thanks for your comments! I’ll see what I can do about having an alternate footer. You can always add copyright info in a text, box but maybe an alternate footer would be much simpler. Maybe something with just copyright info and in white? Anything you might be looking for specifically?

Andre

Thanks for the quick reply. Ps. rated the theme 5 stars

If you send me the psd file I’ll put a few ideas on it and send it to you. I’ll PM you my email address.

Default-user

ps. it’d be great if you would add the PSD files to the theme package :)

2winFactor

Hi Agilecorp,

Unfortunately, there’s no PSD file included with the theme. This is because I do almost all my designing in the browser and the theme doesn’t use very many images for it’s styling. I may add a PSD to the theme in a future update, but I have yet to create one! I really do appreciate any input you can give me! :)

Many thanks!

Hi Andre, We made a very simple change on the footer.php Thought I’d share this with you.

We’re going to modify this further but I think it ads a better feel to the bottom of the page.

<div class="clear" /> <!-- Footer --> <div id="footer"> <div class="container clearfix"> <div class="sixteen columns"> <div class="one-third"><?php /* Widget Area */ if ( !function_exists( 'dynamic_sidebar' ) || !dynamic_sidebar('Footer Left') ) ?></div> <div class="one-third"><?php /* Widget Area */ if ( !function_exists( 'dynamic_sidebar' ) || !dynamic_sidebar('Footer Center') ) ?></div> <div class="one-third column-last"><?php /* Widget Area */ if ( !function_exists( 'dynamic_sidebar' ) || !dynamic_sidebar('Footer Right') ) ?></div> <div class="clear" /> </div> </div> <div class="clear" /> </div> <div id="footer_copy" class="dark"> <div class="container clearfix"> <div class="sixteen columns"> <div class="one-half">© copyright 2013 - <?php bloginfo('name'); ?> <?php wp_title(); ?></div> <div class="one-half column-last"><?php /* Widget Area */ if ( !function_exists( 'dynamic_sidebar' ) || !dynamic_sidebar('Footer Social') ) ?></div> <div class="clear" /> </div> </div> <div class="clear" /> </div> <!-- End Footer --> <!-- Theme Hook --> <?php wp_footer(); ?> <!-- End Site Container -->

Another thing… I love the fact that the admin bar is hidden but it’d be a good option (when doing heavy editing) to be able to toggle the admin bar on and off.

Keep up the great work! huge fan!

2winFactor

Thanks for sharing! That looks like it would be something that would be easy to add in an update. I’ll be sure to try to include something like the contact info.

For the admin bar – there’s issues with it and the ajax functionality of the site and sticky header of the site. I’m working on making it more compatible in the next update!

Thanks!

Andre

Thanks Andre… I’ve added a menu item that shows for admins only and for now its a decent work around to get to the admin side.

Just out of interest, whats on the roadmap for this? are you thinking of any more shortcodes for different styles? css transitions? font-icons? just a few from the top of my head.

2winFactor

Hi Agilecorp-

Not exactly sure yet – I’m working on WPML straight away – other than that it’s still wide open!

Does the font that appears in title rotators and headings come with the theme? I have purchased themes before where they used a font that had to be purchased separately.

2winFactor

Hi Hhursey,

Yep! It’s just a google font so it’s totally free to use:

http://www.google.com/fonts/specimen/Raleway

You can select that font (or any other google font) from within the Theme Options.

Hi Can I ask what grid or css framework you are using for this lovely theme?

I’d like to convert it to zurb foundation if you are not already using it?

Hi Webcoursesbangkok,

I used the Skeleton css framework in the theme. Aside from that, everything else is more-or-less custom.

Hey love this theme! In District there was a way to re-order the portfolio, is it the same in this theme?

Yes, of course! Just drag and drop the order you want. There are different orders for the homepage via the portfolio page. Posts are just arranged by date on the blog page.

hi.

great theme. a pre-sales question. my client wants to set up her portfolio not in a slideshow, but so that the images are “stacked” and you would scroll down the page to view them. i am ass-u-ming that she could just add her images on the page as content and that there would not be an issue with the responsive functionality.

Similar to the way that you have a large image on the bottom of this page: http://bit.ly/151e13I but there would be multiple images stacked below it.

thanks so much.

2winFactor

Hi Pmatsuda,

Sure! You don’t have to include a slideshow gallery if you don’t want to. In fact, you can use any combination of these image styles that you want:

http://themewich.com/gridstack/image-styles/

Any other questions, just let me know!

Andre

Hello, one more thing please:

In my first question you told me that the ‘grid tiles’ can link to portfolio posts or blog posts and that is really useful, but can they also link to pages? If not, do you know if it would be difficult to achieve without a lot of coding?

Thanks.

2winFactor

Hi Mok-o-choc,

You could add pages to the homepage grid if you want, but that feature isn’t available out of the box. You’d need to make some changes to the theme files to get that to work. Basically, the homepage loop, the page template etc. I’d be happy to point you in the right direction, but that type of alteration would go beyond the scope of support for the theme.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Andre

  • Bought between 50 and 99 items

Can you add a video blog post? I’d like to see how they’re handled.

2winFactor

Hi Mike,

Yep! Here’s a vimeo example:

http://themewich.com/gridstack/2013-most-unique-getaways/

You can use a variety of different video services (including self-hosted in WordPress 3.6).

Any other questions, just let me know!

Andre

Default-user

Andre, is it possible to use an embedded video as the “featured image” for these posts on the blog index page?

2winFactor

Hi MikeLemovitz,

Not out of the box. You’d need to make some significant modifications to the theme to get that to work. That type of alteration would go beyond the scope of support for the theme, however.

Let me know if you have any other questions,

Andre

Default-user

Thanks for the quick response, Andre. If this is added down the line, I’ll be purchasing. I do a lot of video work, and when I post something on the blog, I’d like people to be able to watch without clicking to the individual entry.

2winFactor

Sounds good – I’ll be sure to keep this in mind for a future update.

Cheers,

Andre
