Good luck with sales!

Studio164a

Thanks!

Where can I find the shortcodes? They are not in the supporting documentation and they are shown here (http://164a.com/hitched-wp/), but do not show how to input them…

Studio164a

Hi uiucphoenix,

The column, recent_posts, flickr and instagram shortcodes are covered on page 5 and 6 of the documentation. I am working on an update to the documentation to cover off a few of the things I forgot to include. I hope to have it up by the end of today. Sorry about that.

Hi uiucphoenix,

Version 1.1 has just been released, with pretty extensive updates to the documentation.

Cheers, Eric

Where are the forms and shortcodes? I can’t find them in the theme.

Thanks

Studio164a

Hi CreativeCoco,

Sorry, I thought I had replied to your message yesterday, but apparently it didn’t go through.

I have made some extensive additions to the documentation in version 1.1, which has just been released.

The forms are added using the Visual Form Builder plugin, which is included in the download from ThemeForest. There is a section in the documentation devoted to the forms.

Cheers, Eric

Love this theme! We looked around A LOT for a good wedding website theme and this is the best we found. Really beautiful, easy to use and Eric is super nice and helpful. My sister and I are using it for our brother’s website and he and his fiancee are very pleased.

Thanks Eric!

Studio164a

Thanks Kelly for the kind words!

Eric

Hi,

Thanks for this theme! I have one problem…

I’ve got wordpress running, have a “home” page with the homepage template and a blog page, and the “home” page is the front page.

The images I upload all show up in the slider and carousel, until I create a gallery and try to set it as the carousel or slider gallery while editing the “home” page. At that point the slider gallery and carousel gallery dropdown selectors don’t seem to have any effect: on the frontend, the top navigation (home, blog links) and the carousel completely disappear AND instead of the slider gallery photos showing up in the slider, ALL the photos I updloaded are shown.

I read through all the documentation and am stumped… am I missing something easy here? How can I get the gallery I selected for the carousel and slider to take effect and not make my “home” and “blog” links disappear?

Studio164a

Hi josh7weaver,

Thanks for the comment. Could you send a message through to me via the contact form on our profile page, with a link to your site, so I can take a look?

Cheers, Eric

Is it possible to center a photo on a page or post? I tried to center using the wysiwyg or via the wordpress photo section, neither are working.

Studio164a

Hi jonathanjacob,

Ah, sorry about that. I’ll fix that up and upload a fresh version of the theme, but in the meantime you can fix it by opening up media/css/common.css and searching for “aligncenter”. Replace its rule with this:

.aligncenter {
    float: none !important;
    clear: both;
    display: block;
    margin-left: auto !important;
    margin-right: auto !important;
}

Cheers, Eric

Studio164a

Hi jonathanjacob,

Just realised I hadn’t posted back here after releasing an update for the theme last week, which fixes the issue with centrally aligned images not working correctly.

Cheers, Eric

Quick pre-purchase question: is there any “Guestbook” functionality in this theme? If not, is it possible to simply create a new page and enable comments for it? I realize it’s a silly question, but I’ve seen some weird design choices in another wedding theme I’ve tried where there’s no guestbook, and page commenting was forced off for all pages. As far as I can tell, there aren’t any good guestbook plugins to use either.

For the record, I’m completely fine with simply enabling a page with comments to use as a guestbook, but I’d just like to double check and make sure it’s possible to begin with.

Studio164a

Hi mikehoteltango,

The theme comes with Visual Form Builder, which is a great third party plugin that’s really useful for creating forms. I think it may work quite well for setting up a Guestbook, though I don’t think there is an inbuilt way of displaying the form entries on the front-end (they are stored in the database and displayed in the back-end, plus emailed to a designated contact person).

If you want the responses to be public, the page route is probably the best option. I’m working on some improvements to the commenting section for pages though, as I realized that isn’t working quite correctly. I’ll have an update out shortly.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Hi there,

I bought the wrong version just now. I was supposed to get the template version but as I was buying from the preview site and clicked on the wordpress version. Then I noticed it was all php files and not static html I was expecting.

I know it’s my mistake. Can I get a refund for the wordpress and buy the html version again? Please!

I promise I’ll send you a link after our site is up and you can confirm it’s not a wordpress site.

Studio164a

Hi ayemoah,

As the transaction goes through Envato, I can’t actually provide a refund, but they may be able to. Just raise a support ticket with them via the support centre:

http://support.envato.com/

Hope they can help you out—and hope you enjoy using the theme/template :)

Hi! I am trying to replicate what you did on the home page, but I can’t figure out what I am doing wrong. I can’t get the two labels to align at the top / figure out how to add the divider. This is the site (http://leahandmike.com/) and the code I have – [column] Welcome /column The Wedding [/column]

Instead of trying this from scratch, would you be able to let me know how you got the home page set up and then I can just customize the text?

Thanks!!

Studio164a

Hi there,

I just sent you an email with some sample text to start with, but thought I’d drop it here as well for anyone else also wondering how to generate a similar layout to the front page of the demo:
[column width="1/3" divider="true"]
<h2 class="section_label">Welcome</h2>
Text goes here.
[/column]
[column width="1/3" divider="true"]
<h2 class="section_label">Column 2</h2>
Text goes here.
[/column]
[column width="1/3" last="true"]
<h2 class="section_label">The Wedding</h2>
Text goes here.
[/column]

Note that there is a section in the documentation devoted to the column shortcode.

Hi there … I’ve downloaded the template and the stylesheet is missing. Where can I download the right version of the template? Rishi

Studio164a

Hi Rishi,

The stylesheet is included. However, make sure you’re uploading the hitched folder inside of the main zip file that you download from ThemeForest—if you upload the whole folder from ThemeForest it won’t work.

Eric,

Love the theme, great job! I have a few questions – my apologies if they are covered in the documentation or in the comments, I cannot seem to find answers anywhere.

1) Can I remove the “Posted by xxx on February XX, 2013” from the bottom of the page/posts?

2) I cannot seem to be able to right align (or center) images. They appear correctly in the editor, and the text editor has the right code (at least I think so), but not on the actual page.

3) How can I make the slider different than the thumbnails between the two text areas on the homepage (like your demo page)? I have tried to create two different galleries and use the appropriate cod but when I do nothing appears in either location.

4) How can I remove the RSS button above the footer?

Sorry for such simple questions. I can usually resolve minor things such as these but nothing seems to work this time.

Thanks Eric, again I love the theme!

Thanks Eric for the update!

The update did fix a few things, however I am still trying to figure out how to have the slider and the carousel different galleries (like the demo) – for example; gallery 1 for the slider, and gallery 3 for the carousel. When I tried this the carousel wouldn’t appear… Or, can I add four (or more) images to the slider? Only three seem to show when I have four in the gallery.

Also, is there an easy fix to remove the RSS feed icon from the footer area?

Thanks again for the great support! I love the theme and apologize if I missed this in the documentation or if it is something as simple as checking a box.

Studio164a

Hi Chris,

You can remove the RSS feed icon by disabling it on the theme settings page. If you’re in your Wordpress dashboard, go to Appearance > Hitched Theme Settings and untick Show RSS.

With the galleries, try doing the following:

  • Go to edit the gallery you want to use for your carousel.
  • Click the Add Media button at the top.
  • At the top left of the popup window, click Create Gallery.
  • Select all the images you want to include in the gallery. When you’re done click Create Gallery (bottom right).
  • Click Insert Gallery.

This will insert the gallery into the post, and should ensure that those pictures are picked up when the gallery is selected by the homepage.

You should be able to add more than four images to the slider.

If you’re still having issues, could you send me a message via the contact form on our profile page here on ThemeForest?

Hey Eric,

Really love the template! so I had purchased the wordpress Template without knowing the full extend of uploading this to a Custom Wordpress. looks waaaay complicated =(

Unless Its easier than it looks! but then i saw that there is a template version that you offer. Now, this may be 2 of the most novice questions asked in this forum but:

1.) Whats the difference between the template version and the wordpress verision?

2.) for a person with Rudimentary understanding of Custom designing a wordpress. what do you think would be my best route?

Studio164a

Hi KevinRose,

Glad you like Hitched!

The HTML template is a bit trickier than the Wordpress one, and really requires a decent knowledge of HTML and CSS. The Wordpress one is generally a bit easier because you can create your pages through the Wordpress dashboard, whereas with the template it’s basically a matter of building it with the HTML.

That said, the HTML template does come with a lot of starter templates that you can use to get it up and running.

The Wordpress theme does come with documentation and I’m more than happy to help you with any questions you have.

Ultimately, I think the Wordpress one is easier to use, especially if you’re already a bit familiar with using Wordpress.

Cheers, Eric

This is an easy question but I really want to make sure before I purchase this theme. It appears that I can change the colors of the theme (the peach, brown and grey in the ribbon/background) using the PSD files provided. I guess I’m truly asking what the PSD files contain and I’m assuming the ribbon and the background. Is this correct?

Studio164a

Hi MrBonquista,

Yep, the PSD files have all the graphical components you would need to work off of. There are two main layout PSDs for each skin (one for the homepage and one for the blog), as well as a folder with PSDs containing the retina elements.

The download also comes with a child theme, so you can use that to create your custom skin without ever touching the main theme.

Cheers, Eric

MrBonquista

Awesome! Thanks a lot Eric, a lot of help.

Studio164a

No worries at all!

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Cheers, Eric

So I’ve managed to work through a lot of little bugs and things to format the website how I want. But this one little thing – I’m not entirely sure how to fix.

On our blog page, the title is no showing up properly (below where it says Melissa & John), you can view it here: www.melissaplusjohn.com/blog/

Any way to fix that? Not sure why it’s doing that.

Also, love this theme very, very much! We’re subbing in the photos you used until we get our own engagement photos up.

Studio164a

Hi Melissa,

The reason it’s not showing up properly is because the blog title hasn’t been set yet. On the Hitched Theme Settings page in the Wordpress dashboard, enter a title for the blog and hit save. That should fix the isssue!

Glad you like the theme :) Don’t forget to rate it here on ThemeForest.

How can I put the custom marker text in the Google Maps shortcode like you have in the demo?

Thanks!

Studio164a

Hi bangpow,

The custom marker text is only in the HTML demo. The plugin that the Hitched Wordpress theme comes bundled with (http://pippinsplugins.com/simple-google-maps-short-code/) doesn’t include this feature.

But that said, there are a number of other Wordpress plugins for integrating Google Maps. One to start with would be WP Google Maps: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-google-maps/

I haven’t personally used it, but it looks like it includes the ability to set your own marker text.

Where do I download the update 1.5?

Studio164a

Hi mckay81,

You can select the guest book page template when creating a page. It’s under the Templates dropdown on the left side of the page.

That’s the thing. Its not there. I only have Default Template, Full Page and home Page.

Studio164a

Hi mckay81,

Ah, just checked the download from ThemeForest and realized that the zipped plugin file is incorrect—it’s missing the guestbook template. That said, you’ll see there’s a folder called hitched, which is the theme folder. If you zip that, you can upload it and it will have the guestbook functionality.

Will submit an update to ThemeForest with the correct zip file. Sorry about that.

What code do I use to put a responsive slider on other pages?

Studio164a

Hi mckay81,

The slider is a built-in feature for the homepage, so it can not really be used easily on another page. That said, there are lots of slider plugins out there that are excellent and well worth checking out.

There are a stack of premium ones on CodeCanyon:

http://codecanyon.net/category/wordpress/interface-elements/sliders

You can also check the plugin repository on Wordpress.org. One there that looks pretty good is Responsive Slider:

Excellent.

The Instagram portion. Can it be setup to show Hash Tags so I can link it to our wedding photos by hash tags.

Studio164a

Hi mckay81,

Not currently, but that’s a good idea. I need to make an update to the Instagram widget anyway, so I’ll look at implementing this while I’m at it.

Cheers, Eric

I have successfully changed all the colors with the css file except the date (Where and When part of Theme Options). How do I change the color of that line of text?

Studio164a

Hi jbateman107,

The element to target is .home #header h3. So you could have something like this:

.home #header h3 {
color: #000; /* Change this to the colour you want */
}

Hi Youri,

Do you have any other libraries on your server that you’re loading? Anything to do with Twitter for example? What is the current error message you’re getting?
