Was the first to buy the theme :) haven’t installed it yet or tested it but I’m sure it will be awesome. Was worried first up because when I loaded the live preview on my Samsung Galaxy S2 it didn’t seem “mobile compatible”... then I searched the net for a iPhone site converter and found one at http://iphone4simulator.com/ and the website loaded just awesome… was still worried about the Android issue so I tried making my FireFox browser width as small as possible and the theme looked fully mobile compatible with that so I decided to buy it. Will install it and report if it looks great on my android mobile. Thumbs crossed :)

Congrats for being the first buyer!!! Regarding the live preview on mobiles make sure to access it without the ThemeForest Frame, directly at this URL: http://www.maddim.com/demos/hybrid-wp/ ;)

Just installed it and made the adjustments on the homepage. OMG… What a day to find a new template for my site.

Absolutely perfect mobile compatability. Wish I could buy the designer a drink… I would have paid $100 for this theme.

Cheers mate!

Looks nice. Really like the projects, the way they flip and reveal, not seen it in quite that way on any other sites. Really neat solution.

JoNa
JoNa Author

Thank you!!! The flipping images are made using pure CSS (hardware-accelerated in all major browsers), I’m definitely proud of it :) I wanted to avoid the usual “Lightbox” + “External Project Page” concept where users have to actually choose which one of the actions to use, so this came as one step forward to improve the experience: Beautiful tile image > mouse over it > Title & short description > click > Full project info appears right below.

Thanks again for your comment :) Jon

OMG! On my desktop and iPad it rocks like no other! (not so much on the iPhone though. I’m sure it will, soon enough) Recently purchased Spark. Can you tell me why I should switch to Hybrid?

JoNa
JoNa Author

Thank you MKuyvenhoven for the kind words!! Regarding your iPhone what do you mean by “not so much”? If you’re referring to the sticky header behavior, know that it can be fully adapted to your needs in the backend: Its position can be set on static (not fixed) for mobile devices , and you can choose to have the same menu as the desktop-version instead of a select dropdown, whichever you like most!

Hybrid is designed to be faster and to have a lighter footprint on the browser (it doesn’t stress your CPU when viewing the site like some other heavy themes I’ve seen!).

My Spark WordPress theme scores 90 at Google PageSpeed, while the Hybrid theme scores 94 at Google PageSpeed!

Sincerely, Jonathan

Hello MKuyvenhoven,

Thank you for the reply, I’ve released a few updates addressing iOS issues since your last message, so please feel free to check out the live preview again at http://www.maddim.com/demos/hybrid-wp/ (make sure to clear your iPhone’s cache to get the latest files). The browsing experience should now be optimal on all devices!

Wow, it does look great! Thanks for updating me on my old comment in your HTML5 version.

I was wondering if you had any plans to add tabs like we see in the “service” section on your HTML5 version. A side tab version would also be useful. Also, I’d be looking for info boxes / tooltips / client logo display / quotes / etc.

I have a small web hosting business who could use such a high-end theme with the above addons. No need for actual shortcodes, just gimme some working CSS and HTML in the code and I’ll figure it out :)

JoNa
JoNa Author

Thanks a lot for your message! Actually the sliding tabs are already implemented, there’s a simple shortcode for it that you can put in a column of whatever size, it’s just not on the live preview yet, I definitely need to create more pages to show what’s packaged under the hood! Tooltips are available as well (mouse over the social logos in the footer for an example), and many more ;)

I’m glad you like, and please don’t hesitate to contact me if you need any further information or assistance, I’ll be happy to hear from you! Best, Jonathan

Every time I upload my logo image it take me to the gallery library or media library and it won’t upload my logo?

Thanks

Hello johnmcmillan,

Thank you for your message. Once you have uploaded your logo, make sure to click on “Send to OptionTree”. If you click on “Save all changes” then it will take you to the media library instead.

I hope that helps! Please feel free to let me know if your need any further assistance with this, I’ll be happy to help ;) Best, Jonathan

Hi Jonathan, I’m having some trouble getting the images in the posts (full postwidth, no margin) like in your examples on ThemeForrest. Could you please give me some hints on how to go about the html and css? Thanks and best regards!

Hello MKuyvenhoven,

Thank you for your messages, yes this is the Featured Image, there’s no need for HTML or CSS, just set a featured image to your post, see here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Post_Thumbnails#Setting_a_Post_Thumbnail

By default it should be on the right column on the editor page, let me know if you can’t see it! Best, Jonathan

I figured out that your images are placed before and outside of the div with the following classes: “post-content clearfix spark-contrasted”. How? I don’t know…

Hi,

Nice ‘simple’ theme, however when testing on an iphone and switching from portrait to landscape and then back to portrait you are left with a white strip down the side of the screen, i.e. the screen it not re-sizing properly.

Any chance you can have a look at this please?

Cheers

Hello victorh,

I have released an update for the Hybrid WordPress Theme which includes a fix for the iPhone issue you described. You can check the live preview at http://www.maddim.com/demos/hybrid-wp/ to confirm that it’s now working as expected (please make sure to clear your iPhone’s cache in order to get the latest files).

Thank you again for reporting this issue to me, and I’m happy to announce that it has now been addressed in the latest update (version 1.8).

Please feel free to contact me if you need any help, I will be more than happy to assist you ;) Best, Jonathan

Hi JoNa,
I wanted to avoid the usual “Lightbox” + “External Project Page” concept where users have to actually choose which one of the actions to use, so this came as one step forward to improve the experience: Beautiful tile image > mouse over it > Title & short description > click > Full project info appears right below.
Although I realize what I am about to ask would defeat the above purpose, is it possible for me to include a link in the project info that would take the user to a lightbox or a gallery of related images? I love this theme (and purchased it), but would like to show additional images.
JoNa
JoNa Author

Hello hotflashstudio,

Thank you for your comment. Currently, you can already place a link to another page which would display a gallery of images, or even place the gallery right within the project’s content. I know it’s not an ideal solution so I will look into adding support for a lightbox in a further update!

I’ll keep you posted as soon as this feature is implemented, and in the meantime please don’t hesitate to contact me if you need any assistance with your customization ;) Best, Jonathan

Are there other themes like this one that are fast like yours on theme forest, I want to buy this theme but I want to see all my options before I commit

JoNa
JoNa Author

Hello jojo8026,

Thank you for your message. Yes there is my Spark HTML5 One-Page WordPress Theme which also offers the Speed Mode. Beside my own themes, I just made a quick search and figured out that when searching for both gzip, retina & responsive wordpress themes you’ll get only mines! hahaha :winktongue:

More seriously, the performance features implemented in my themes have been coded exclusively by myself so there’s little chance you’ll find the exact same technology in other themes, perhaps similar ones but not precisely the same. The Speed Mode featured in my themes is enabling a set of fully automated processes like minification, merging, persistent output (server caching), browser caching rules, gzipping, and more out-of-the-box. Those techniques are combined with a well designed frontend, that means less DOM elements, faster CSS rules, smarter events and timing (specific pageload prioritization and lazy load).

Also, there’s the Retina aspect. I believe that my Spark and Hybrid themes are the fastest Retina-Ready WordPress Themes, and especially on Retina devices! I have seen many themes imposing Retina users to load the normal version of the image in addition to the higher resolution image, that’s crazy! I have even seen themes avoiding this problem by not offering any images at all until it has been determined which one to serve, but this is dramatic for non-js users and SEO! There are also other methods currently used based on UserAgent sniffing, which is also a known bad practice.

Hybrid Images overcomes this challenge amazingly and offers incredible page load speed and incredible image quality at the same time, you can read more about it here if you’re interested: http://www.maddim.com/demos/hybrid-wp/responsive-retina-images/ ;) This technique is also used by the new Google Images (if you have access to it). Best, Jonathan

Theme looks very interesting and may be a great fit for a project of mine. Only question I have right now is color – is that easily customizable? As in can the black, especially in the header, be changed?

JoNa
JoNa Author

Hello seaus,

Thanks for your message. The backend allows to easily change the main background of the page to either a solid color or a pattern of your own. However the dark header is not yet customizable but I’ll release an update very soon which will add the possibility to customize the header’s background as well.

I hope that answers your question, and please don’t hesitate to let me know if you need any further information, I’d be happy to assist. Would you like me to keep you posted when the update is available for download? Best ;) Jonathan

Jonathan Thanks for the info. Definitely would be a useful update (e.g. change color to match the logo of company. If I may suggest one more enhancement – it would rock if a video can be embedded into slider (youtube and/or vimeo format) Will there be any way to get notified when you update the theme?

JoNa
JoNa Author

Hi seaus,

Thanks for your reply. When using the [slider] shortcode it’s possible to put anything in the slides: including a responsive embedded video ;)

Regarding update notifications, simply check the “Get notified by email if this item is updated” checkbox on your Downloads page. You can also follow me on Twitter. I hope that answers your question, and please don’t hesitate to contact me if you need any help with the customization, I’ll be happy to help ;) Best, Jonathan

cool

Will definitely consider it.

Of course, the “notified” option only works when I actually buy the them (waiting for client on decision)

RE: header color(s)

It seems that adding these lines with the desirable color codes to WP’s native CSS Stylesheet Editor (which is outside the Theme Options) solves the problem.

header { background: #336600; }

.dark { background: #663300; }

Best, Gabor

JoNa
JoNa Author

Hello Gabor,

Thanks for your comment. Yes using custom CSS everything is customizable pretty easily!

I’ll still include an option to change the header’s background via the Theme Options page so it’ll be simpler to upload a background image or set a custom color for the header area without the need for CSS knowledge :)

Thanks again for the tip, I’m sure it’ll help others while waiting for the update to come! Best, Jonathan

Is there a portfolio page template or something, I am a student studying to become a graphic designer and I dont have a CDN so I want a fast theme that can load as fast as possible since i dont have the help of a CDN

JoNa
JoNa Author

Hello jojo8026,

Thank you for your comment! The “portfolio” in this theme is called “Projects” and can be included in any page via the shortcode [latest_projects] which will list all projects with the nice 3D flipping and SEO-friedly ajax like it can be seen on the Hybrid landing-page :)

You don’t need a CDN to run this theme at its best performance, any shared-hosting is more than appropriate to deliver the best experience! Hybrid comes with a “Speed Mode”, once enabled you’ll get a super fast loading website out-of-the-box, guaranteed – no configuration and no technical skills required.

I hope that answers your question, please feel free to let me know if you need any further information, I’ll be happy to assist ;) Best, Jonathan
