Hello JoNa,

this is a pre-sale question. What is the difference between “Hybrid” and “Spark” themes?

Thank You in advance!

JoNa
JoNa Author

Hello geobec,

Thanks for your message! Both the Hybrid and Spark themes share the same technologies under the hood. You will find similar possibilities like easily change the typography settings, or using font-based icons via the IcoMoon App which offer thousands of choices, as well as full Retina support and the famous “Speed Mode”, and many more features.

The main difference resides in the visual concept with the contrasted header and footer for the Hybrid theme, while the Spark theme offers a more homogeneous scheme. Also, the Hybrid theme was conceived to offer lightening-fast page-load time and reactivness for a great experience of speed. The Spark theme also loads at lightening-speed but offers a smoother experience when it comes to animated scrolling and other transitional elements.

Keep in mind that the Hybrid theme offers Portfolio capabilities with beautiful flipping tiles, so if you need this feature then the Hybrid theme is the one to go for! http://www.maddim.com/demos/hybrid-wp/#projects

I hope that answers your question! Please feel free to contact me anytime if you need any further information – I’ll be happy to hear from you ;) Best, Jonathan

Hi redcar,

Thanks for contacting me! Migrating WordPress from one server/domain to another is a big process with many steps. You should find most of the information you need directly from the WordPress site: http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress

If your site is working properly but only the theme settings weren’t imported properly then I believe something went wrong during the transfer or one of the steps were missed. The issue you’re having is not related to my specific theme and I would recommend trying the database export/import again as well as all the procedures explained in the WordPress documentation to update the site domain.

I hope that you will find this information useful and that you will be able to import your data successfully! Please keep me posted ;) Warm Regards, Jonathan

Hello!

I just purchased your template and applied the custom CSS changes to make the header white. However the arrows are still black on the menu. How can i change those from black?

JoNa

Hello m4doyle,

Thanks for your comment! The top arrow is a small image you can either edit the image, or simply hide it using CSS by adding this simple rule to your “Custom CSS” field in the Theme Options page:

nav.spark-main-menu a  {
    background: none !important;
}

I hope that helps! Please feel free to let me know if there’s anything else I can do for you, I’ll be happy to assist ;) Best, Jonathan

Hi JoNa, I like how the slider is actually a part of the header. Can the slider height be increase so that it is slightly taller? I need to be able to show a little more content in the slider.

Thanks!

JoNa
JoNa Author

Hi hhursey,

Thanks for your comment! Yes the slider height can be adjusted to your images when set to fullwidth. Alternatively it’s possible to adjust it via custom CSS, which I can certainly assist you with!

I hope that answers your question, please don’t hesitate to contact me again if you need any further information or any assistance configuring the theme, I’ll be happy to hear from you ;) Best, Jonathan

Can this theme be setup to use multiple pages? A child theme that comes bundled perhaps?

JoNa

Hi AAA_Nusser,

Thanks for your question! Yes absolutely you can create as many pages as you need! There are no special requirements, just create your pages and add them to the menu manually using the WordPress Menu Builder.

I hope that helps, please feel free to let me know if you have any other questions, I’ll be happy to hear from you ;) Best Regards, Jonathan

I have begun to building pages that do not reside on the original landing page as part of the “single-page” layout.

When I create these pages. Whatever I have named the page within wordpress when creating the page, becomes a sort of header on the page itself. I do not want this to show up. How can I remove the “title” that shows up on the page?

JoNa
JoNa Author

Hi aszyszkowski,

Thanks for your message! You can remove the in-page title by editing the following file: /wp-content/themes/hybrid/content-page.php on line 9 – simply delete the entire line.

I will add an option in the next update to disable this title, thanks for letting me know about this! Best, Jonathan

Hi JoNa,

...And thanks for this great theme, I’m realy happy with it. However i’m trying to change the color of the arrow menu (If you know what I mean!), it’s getting frustrating because it’s the only thing in the whole page I haven’t mannaged to edit yet!

Thanks!

JoNa

Hello Thewerebean,

Thanks for your comment! The arrow from the top menu is a small image, so you can either edit the image, or simply hide it using CSS by adding this simple rule to your “Custom CSS” field in the Theme Options page:

nav.spark-main-menu a  {
    background: none !important;
}

If you choose to edit the image then note that it is merged with other ones (CSS Sprites) so you’ll have to edit the sprite located here: /wp-content/themes/hybrid/images/SparkEdgeCombined.v1.1.png

I hope that helps! Please feel free to let me know if there’s anything else I can do for you, I’ll be happy to assist ;) Best, Jonathan

Hi Jona,

Thanks for your great template.

Pre-sale question :

Is there any solution for the e-commerce ? Is the template compatible with woocommerce or another plugin ?

Thanks for your time,

BR, Romain.

Default-user

Hi Jona, thanks for your prompt reply.

Another question : any news regarding the filter of projects ? Is there a shortcode to select only one category of projects ?

Thks, Romain.

JoNa

Hi Romain,

Thanks for your message. This feature is coming in the next update, hopefully very soon!

Keep posted ;) Best, Jonathan

Thanks Jona, everything’s perfect, this is the last thing missing on my website .. Hope it will come very soon too :)

Dear Jona, I’ve been checking this time and I like it so much. Just a query, I need to change the collors for my company ones, I’ve read that I have a child theme to change things without attatchments. Does it include collors? What about the hardness of this? Is there an easier way to change them? I’m a web front-end developer, but I wouldn’t like to learn the whole stylesheet to do this. Thanks.

JoNa

Hi fradisonancias,

Thanks for your comment! Most colors are easily customizable straight from the backend interface via an easy color picker:

Hybrid WordPress Theme - Colors Customizer

That should be enough to get the theme customized to your company’s colors! But if you would like to adjust other parts of the layout for even more customization, you can use custom CSS rules. There’s no need to learn the stylesheets, just add your custom rules to override the default ones (simply use the “Inspect Element” tool of your web browser to get the correct CSS selector).

If you need any assistance with the customization, just let me know and I’ll be very happy to help ;) Best, Jonathan

Hi Jona!

Quick question: In the main navigation menu at the top, the link is shown in Blue… like if I am at the home page, then “Home” will be in blue. How can I change this color?

Thanks!

Default-user

I found the solution myself! :)

Hi. How can I get the footer social media icons to open in a new window/tab?

JoNa

Hi osmansafdar,

Thanks for your comment. Ah this is something I didn’t thought of! You’ll have to edit the following file: /wp-content/themes/hybrid/core/shortcodes.php and add target="blank" to the link on line 205.

I’ll make sure to add an option for that in the next update of the theme! Thanks for letting me know about this ;) Cheers, Jonathan

Default-user

thnx!

JoNa

Oops I meant target="_blank" with an underscore of course, and not target="blank" :)

So I closed my eyes and clicked the WP 3.7 update feature and it looks like the theme is still compatible :nerdy:

In case anyone is curious.

JoNa

Hi TehStig,

Thanks for your report. Yes the Hybrid Theme is indeed compatible with WordPress 3.7 and up ;)

Cheers! Jonathan

Hi JoNa,

I have some pre-sale questions.

Is your hybrid theme WPML compatible? (plugin for multiple languages) Can I also add a video on the top instead of the slider? Do you have a Team part/page?

Thanks for your feedback.

JoNa

Hi franspring,

Thanks for your message and sorry for the delay in my reply! Let me answer your questions: Yes the latest version of the Hybrid theme is compatible with the WPML plugin, but you’ll have to configure it manually.

Regarding the top slider, you can just turn it off and place a video in the first section instead. There is a special [video] shortcode to embed a YouTube (or other) video with responsive support! There are many other shortcodes available, as well as the Visual Columns enhancing the default WordPress Editor will allow you to build a team section very quickly, in addition for example to the pricing section. It’s pretty flexible and limited mainly to our imagination :)

I hope that answers your question, and again sorry for the delay! Please don’t hesitate to let me know if you need any further information, I’ll be pleased to help! Warm regards, Jonathan

Where do you change the subheaders?

Contact Us We’d love to hear from you! <

JoNa

Hi neodan,

Thanks for contacting me! You can edit the sub-headers by going to the Theme Options page, and under the “Landing-page” tab you will find options to edit the details of each section of the landing-page:

Hybrid WordPress Theme - Theme Options - Landing Page - Edit Title, Subtitle and Subheader

I hope that helps! Please don’t hesitate to contact me again if there is anything else I can do for you ;) Best, Jonathan

How can I turn off the hybrid images feature? I mean, I dont want the theme to load low quality pics while the high quality pics loads… this may turn off our viewers and we may use potential customers!

JoNa

Hello osmansafdar,

Thanks for contacting me. The short answer is yes, but I believe that your site suffers from another problem. The page should load lightning-fast and if it doesn’t then maybe one of the plugins installed is slowing down the entire site?

The Hybrid Images feature can be disabled manually by editing one of the theme files, however know that doing so will actually increase the page-load time and probably damage the bounce rate. Keep in mind that users are more likely to leave the site if images take too long to load, than if lower quality images are shown temporarily until the high quality ones are loaded. This is why Google has adopted this technique. If your page is taking too long to load you should investigate the cause and fix the problem (check out this page-load speed optimization service).

I hope that helps and please feel free to let me know if I can assist you any further with this, I’ll be happy to help ;) Warm regards, Jonathan

Please help me! During update to WP 3.7:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare has_shortcode() (previously declared in /homepages/39/d117863067/htdocs/wp-includes/shortcodes.php:153) in /homepages/39/d117863067/htdocs/wp-content/themes/hybrid/core/spark-framework/helpers.php on line 50

JoNa

Hi dorfleitner,

Thanks for your message. There is a new version of the Hybrid Theme that is fully compatible with WordPress 3.6 and 3.7 – Download it from your ThemeForest Downloads page: http://themeforest.net/downloads ;)

To unlock your current situation, simply rename the folder containing the older Hybrid version (should be located at /wp-content/themes/hybrid/) and log in to your admin interface.

Please don’t hesitate to let me know via my support site if you need any further assistance with this issue, I’ll be more thanhappy to help! Best, Jonathan

I purchased this theme last week and have been having trouble with it. From a fresh installation I’m unable to get any images to load at all. Any ideas why the logo, slider and portfolio images would not display at all?

JoNa

Hi kuyaedz,

Thanks for contacting me! I believe your custom-made server is missing a graphic library (either GD or Imagick). Make sure it is installed and enabled.

I hope that helps! If you need any further assistance with this matter please don’t hesitate to let me know, I will be happy to help ;)

I was indeed missing php5-gd. Thank you!

Im getting 97/96 rating with GTmetrix analyzer using this theme, thats phenomenal! If your site is loading slow it’s definitely not the theme itself, but likely your host or plugins. Also try using .htaccess tricks and/or caching plugins to optimize speed more with gzip compression and expires headers.

Fastest theme Ive ever seen right from the start.

TehStig

Thanks Jonathan, I have an easy question for you. I’m trying to enable cookie-free domains, but I’m stumped on the last part of the process. When wordpress says make sure that you have used “bloginfo (‘template _directory’)” to load your static content in theme files, I just don’t know what file to look for and what to edit.

Cookie Free domain article: http://wp.tutsplus.com/tutorials/10-quick-tips-optimizing-speeding-up-your-wordpress-site/

Can you tell us what to do in Hybrid theme?

This will boost the YSLOW rating even higher.

TehStig

UPDATE: I installed the W3 Total Cache plugin and I’m getting a 90 and 94 rating in Google Page speed and an AMAZING 99/100 rating in GTMETRIX :nerdy:

JoNa

Hi TehStig,

Thanks for your message! The Hybrid Theme already makes use of default WordPress methods for all static files URLs. The article you quote is little outdated thought, here is another one where they advise not to use bloginfo('template_directory'): http://wp.tutsplus.com/articles/tips-articles/common-wordpress-development-mistakes-and-how-to-fix-them/

See also: http://wordpress.stackexchange.com/questions/72727/get-template-directory-vs-bloginfo-template-directory-vs-templatepath

I would recommend, since you’ve installed the “W3 Total Cache” plugin, to use the CDN option in order to benefit from a cookie-free domain. If you’re not interested in a CDN (e.g. Amazon Cloudfront) then you can host the static files yourself by using the FTP setting in W3TC, which will let you set a custom (cookie-free) domain for static files!

I hope that this helps, please don’t hesitate to share your results, I’ll be happy to hear from you! Best regards :) Jonathan

Hello JoNa,

Firstly, what a great theme, the best one I have purchased so far from theme forest.

Quick question… is there an easy way to have separate colours for each pricing box?

Many thanks,

Phil

JoNa

Hi phil

Thanks a lot for the compliments!!! Regarding your question, the simplest way to do that is to add a custom class to each pricing box that you want customized, for example “myCustomClass

Hybrid WordPress Theme - TinyMCE Editor - Add Custom CSS Class to Box

And then go to the Theme Options page and create a rule for your custom class in the “Custom CSS” field, for example:

.myCustomClass {
  color: red;
}

And that’s it! Create as much custom classes as you need.

I hope that helps, please don’t hesitate to contact me again if I can be of any further assistance ;) Best regards, Jonathan

Default-user

Hi Jonathan,

Thank you so much for your fast reply. I have tried that, however it only changes the text to red, not the actual box header (where it says ‘Basic’).

Any ideas?

Many thanks,

JoNa

Oh if you want to change the background color, use the following rule:

.myCustomClass .box-header,
.myCustomClass .arrow-down:after {
  background: red;
}

This will set the background of the header (as well as the small arrow pointing down) to red.

If you also want to change the color of the text within the column’s header only, you can additionally customize it like this:

.myCustomClass .box-header h3,
.myCustomClass .box-header h6 {
  color: black !important;
}

I hope that helps! Please let me know if you need any further assistance with this, I’ll be happy to hear from you ;) Cheers, Jonathan
