Would love to purchase this theme but I had a few quick questions before buying it. I was wondering if this theme is responsive and built to resize/reorganize for the iPad/iPhone/etc. Also, I was wondering if I’m able to take off the top bar (info, contact, search area) and also the bottom footer section (contact form/map). I really love how you made the navigation once the piece is opened up and glad to see I can put more than one image per post and written content as well. Thanks.

Hi there,

thanks for taking an interest in the theme! :)

To answer your questions:

1) The theme does not have a responsive layout, unfortunately, but should still be very much usable on mobile devices.

2) You can take the top bar off with a one line of code modification. Easy peasy.

3) Just don’t include any of the pages, as your footer page, in the Theme Options panel, and the bottom footer section won’t appear.

By the way, glad you love the way the portfolio works. Enjoy your time with the theme, if you end up buying it! :)

Thanks for the reply. I will most likely purchase the theme. By the way, any chance you will be updating this theme to be compatible across mobile/tablet device platforms in the future? Cool. Thanks.

onioneye

You are very much welcome. :)

I currently don’t have any plans for making a responsive version of the theme, but that might change, when I finish up my latest theme, which should start rolling out sometimes in July.

Zdravo Zlatane,

Great theme indeed. I am using it for a client’s website, but currently am experiencing two problems.

1) I tried using social media plugins in order to insert facebook like and pinterest buttons in the lightbox window of the portfolio items. None of the most common plugins worked properly tho. Do you have an idea what the problem might be or can you suggest a plugin that works with the theme. 2) The site doesnt display properly in firefox. Here is a link: www.doublethinkart.com. I changed the size of the items on the front page, so it is possible that the problem comes from there. However, the rest of the pages are not displaying properly neither.

Thank you in advance

Hi there,

glad you find the theme great. Once again, thanks a lot for buying it! :)

To answer your questions:

1) The portfolio items are opened dynamically on the same page, with AJAX , and not on separate pages, so that’s why the social media plugins can’t work for you out of the box. You either have to import them “manually”, or modify the code of one of the plugins to make it compatible with the theme.

By the way, both methods are definitely tasks for a developer.

2) I see in your latest comment, that you managed to solve this. Congrats!

Sincerely,

OnionEye

Hi again Zlatane,

Forget about issue number 2, fixed it. But the problem with the social media plugin is still there.

onioneye

Oki doki. Please check out the reply on your first thread, where I answered your question on social media plugins. :)

I purchased the theme and it looks great. Just had a few minor things that I can’t quite figure out how to change.

1. Disable the search bar 2. Change the header bg color to #000 3. Change the footer bar are bg color to #000 4. Disable the “sort by” button and options 5. I noticed the portfolio can take up to a max of 10 images. Is there a way to add more to one portfolio piece?

Thanks!

Hi there,

glad you find the theme great. Thanks a lot for buying it! :)

As far as questions one through four go, the following custom CSS should work for you:

.header-secondary, .sortable { display: none; }
.header-main, .footer-widgets, .footer-widgets .widget-content, .footer-widgets .footer-widget:hover { background: #000; }

When it comes to expanding the limit on the number of portfolio images per one item, you would have to modify the portfolio-metaboxes.php, upload-button.js, and the theme-functions.php files. I would imagine this would take a developer about a half an hour to customize.

By the way, if you want to further customize the CSS of the theme, you will have to do it yourself, or alternatively hire a developer to do it for you, because I unfortunately can not support modifications beyond one or two lines of code.

Thank you for your understanding. :)

Hello! i purchased your theme, and i don’t know how to translate it. i’ve been reading some tutorials for achieving it, and it looks quite easy, but i just don’t know where do i have to tell POEDIT where is my wordpress installation when creating a new catalog.

I need the .POT file for creating after that the .PO and .MO files.

i don’t know if i’m explaining myself properly.

Thank you very much in advance, I love your theme!

onioneye

Hi there,

glad you love the theme. Thanks a lot for buying it! :)

Please check out the “Language Files” section of the following article, to get an answer to your question: Internalization and localization of a WordPress theme. Also, make sure you read the “Translation” section of the docs, and follow these directions, after you are done with making .mo and .po files:

Please create a folder named “lang” inside the theme folder, and upload the .mo and .po files there. After that is done, just replace the following code in functions.php file:

load_theme_textdomain ( 'onioneye' );

with

load_theme_textdomain('onioneye', get_template_directory() . '/lang');

and you should be fine.

I hope this helps! :)

I am interested in buying this theme I just have one question. Is it possible to make the gallery items just open in a seperate box instead of going into the other page with all the info?

onioneye

Hi there,

thanks for taking an interest in the theme! :)

As far as your question goes, it is possible, but since this is not available out of the box, some development work is required of you. This is most definitely a task for a developer.

Enjoy working with the theme, if you end up buying it! :)

Hi. I’ve just bought the theme. This is perfect. The best so far. One thing I want to change. As you open the site, the tagline area is open instantly. I want it to be closed, as the user opens the site. Which file should i open to change it?

Thank you.

onioneye

Hi there,

glad you find the theme perfect! Thanks a lot for buying it! :)

As far as your question goes, please remove the following code from the header.php file:

<?php if(is_front_page()) { ?>active-tab<?php } ?>

Once you do that, you should remove the following line of code as well:

<?php if(is_front_page()) { echo 'tab-active'; } else { echo 'closed-tab'; } ?>

and replace it with

closed-tab

Hi I purchased this theme a while back but I only have one problem.

All of my images turn out pixelated. I’ve tried saving out in different file formats but nothing seems to work for me. What should I do?

Hi there,

Hi there,

you are very much welcome. :)

As far as your images go, they are displayed in the exact same quality you uploaded them, so this must be something on your end. Can you please tell me which OS and browser you are using, when viewing your images? Also, which versions of those two?

By the way, I would appreciate it if you could reply to this thread, by clicking the “Reply” button, found at the start of the thread. It makes it easier for me, and for other people out here, to keep track of your comments. Thanks! :)

Hi there,

thanks for buying the theme! Appreciate it! :)

The following custom CSS should work for you, in regards to removing some of the item information:

.item-categories, .item-categories + .item-metadata { display: none; }

You can include the code at the bottom of the style.css file, or via some plugin, made for the purpose of embedding custom CSS to the theme.

i just purchased your template and uploaded it to my server..im getting a message that the stylesheet is missing..am i missing something? :)

Hi there,

no worries. You are just trying to install the theme improperly. You need to unzip the file you downloaded and upload the theme found inside it. Please see Solving broken theme issues.

By the way, thanks for buying the theme. Appreciate it! :)

Hi Again.

Could you please tell me how to turn off the “sort by” button?

Thank you.

Hi there,

.sortable { display: none; }

Hi. Now I need to make this thing: When I click on a portfolio item, it shows me overlay with the description. Since the “close” button on the right side isn’t really satisfying me, I want to click on a blank space so it closes the item and goes back to gallery. What should I do in order to achive it?

onioneye

Hi there,

these types of things are done in javascript, so you need to write some javascript/jquery code, to make the feature work.

By the way, you can include the code at the bottom of the jquery.header.custom.js file, or via some plugin, made for the purpose of embedding custom javascript to the theme.

Having trouble with Portfolio gallery

I am experiencing an issue when i add more than one one image to a portfolio post. Having the Preview images and “Image1” the animation works great. But as soon as I add “Image2” the image does not preview when i click on the preview image from the homepage. However when you use the arrows within that post to go to the next image it shows the next image and on back arrow click it now reveals the image that was otherwiese missing.

Please help, is this a coding issue or a permalink issue?

Also, there a way to change the order of the portfolio items on the homepage, instead of just re-uploading them.

onioneye

Hi there,

please go ahead and contact your host, and ask them if there is any reason why WordPress’ built-in function “wp_get_attachment_image_src” can not work for you. Also, be sure to tell them that it works on countless of other hosts, as tested.

By the way, here’s the crucial piece of code, from the theme-functions.php file:

$image_details = wp_get_attachment_image_src( oy_get_attachment_id_from_src( $portfolio_img_url ), 'full');

The $portfolio_img_url variable is an absolute URL to a given image.

When it comes to the order of the portfolio items, you can reorder them by changing their publishing dates, in the Publish settings box, when you are editing existent, or making new items.

Hi there, love the theme – great job! Would you mind telling me how to change the colour of the header and footer on the theme? Can’t find whether they are tiled images or CSS .

Cheers,

onioneye

Hi there,

glad you love the theme! Thanks a lot for buying it! :)

As far as your question goes, you can change the color of the header with the following CSS :

.header-main { background: *your color here* }

You can include the code at the bottom of the style.css file, or via some plugin, made for the purpose of embedding custom CSS to the theme.

As far as the footer goes, which part of the theme exactly are you referring to? The footer page, the copyright area, or the widget areas?

Hi,

I just bought your theme (it took me ages to choose which one of yours I wanted to use, i think they are lovely) but I’m having trouble installing it to Wordpress. It says there is no style.css file.

As suggested on the main forum I have unzipped the file, but I still cannot locate it, and I’m unsure which folder is the actual theme folder. It said to just make that a zip file to upload.

Could you give me some advice about what to do next?

Thanks

Is there any way to add a description to a portfolio/image?

I’d really like to be able to add in some information describing what inspired a piece, or if it won an award etc bneath the Category, Date and Client?

Thanks!

onioneye

Hi there,

you can add the description for the portfolio item, by putting it in the content editor (large text area). However, if you want to put it below the left column, then some development work is required of you.

By the way, please read the documentation, that’s found in the main folder. It contains all the instructions on how to install and completely setup the theme.

I can only say I was having a stupid moment yesterday because that makes complete sense! Sigh. Sorry. I figured there would be a very simple and obvious answer seeing how well the theme has been designed to showcase art work and photos!

I had a few other questions :)

Is there a way to:

1) Change the words ‘Categories’, ‘Date’ and ‘Client’ under each image in the code? (For example so it could say ‘Title’ , ‘Date’, ‘Project’ or whatever)

2) In the comments section I saw a link to someones site who has used your theme, and instead of the blue triangle in the bottom right-hand corner of the thumbnail that appears when you hover over it, they had a clear triangle that shows the image underneath. Would you know a way to do that? Or failing that, where in the code can I change the colour from bright blue?

3) Is there a way to delete the light blue search bar along the top?

Finally, this may not be possible, but is there a way to have the logo centralized and the menu underneath also in the center? I do really like the way it is right now, but was curious to see how it would look :)

Thanks for the excellent support and help you provide – I’ve already started making little changes just by looking at the help you’ve provided in the comments. I’ve spend a long time looking at portfolio themes to showcase my work, and I can honestly say, yours really stand out. Simple, elegant, clean and professional.

Hi there,

once again, no worries. We all get those moments from time to time. After all, we are just humans. :)

To answer your latest questions:

1) You can change the mentioned words in the theme-functions.php, and the single-portfolio.php files.

Note: the words are wrapped with the “_e” WordPress translation function.

2) In order to do this, you would have to make your own triangle image, in a software like photoshop, and then change the code under the “Portfolio” section of the style.css file. By the way, this is a task for a developer.

3) The following CSS code should work:

.header-secondary { display: none; }

You can include the code at the bottom of the style.css file, or via some plugin, made for the purpose of embedding custom CSS to the theme.

4) This is certainly possible, but since it is not available out of the box, some development work is required of you. You would mainly have to modify the CSS of the theme, to achieve this.

That’s about it. Hope this helps! Oh, and thanks for the wonderful compliments about my work! :)

All the best,

OnionEye

Hi there,

I’ve just purchased the theme, it’s great. I just have one doubt. When I mix in the same project Video & Photo, the video appears, but the photo dissapear.

When I erase the video code, the photos appear again…

Thank you very mucho

Hi there,

you would have to modify the theme-functions.php file (the “eq_get_ajax_project” function), and possibly the style.css file as well, to achieve what you are after.

Wow! i didn’t understand anything :S It means that I have to ask for help to change the code? Is not that easy like removing the serach bar?

Thank you very much!!

onioneye

Hi there,

removing the search bar only involved one line of code, so I was able to write the code for that and provide it on the forums, but I can not do so for your latest request because I unfortunately can not write custom code of greater complexity. That’s a job for a freelancer, so my best suggestion for you is to turn to the forums, or Envato’s freelance marketplace, http://freelanceswitch.com/ to find a freelancer for the job, who will complete it quickly and on the cheap.

Hi there!

www.2dbcreative.com

Love the template. I’m having trouble with the ‘get in tough’ in the footer. I got rid of the map because it was too distracting with the imagery, but when I tested submitting a message nothing came through to my email linked to the site.

Have I done something wrong? Please help!

Hi there,

thanks for buying the theme. Glad you love it! :)

As far as your question goes, please make sure you are entering the contact form shortcode in the HTML view of the content editor, instead of the visual view. If you embedded the existing one in the visual view, just delete it, and re-enter it in the HTML view.

Edit: oh, wait a minute. You left my email address in the shortcode, so your email was sent to my address instead. Please use your email address, like instructed, and you should be fine.

P.S. for further information about the shortcode, please refer to the theme’s documentation.
