Hi onioneye, will there be a responsive theme of HyperMind? really would like to buy this theme with a responsive layout.

Thanks

onioneye

Hi there,

thanks for taking an interest in the HyperMind theme!

As far as your question goes, I currently don’t have any plans in making the theme responsive, but that could change in the following two months, or so, when my latest WordPress theme starts rolling out. However, I unfortunately can’t guarantee anything at this point.

Have lots of fun working with HyperMind, if you still end up buying it! :)

Hi, Love the theme. So far no issues except one. Sorry in advance if this was already posted. In Google Chrome (it seems to work in Firefox) when I push the search button my search bar appears below the blue bar instead of within it. When you move the mouse down onto the search bar, it pops back up into the blue bar where it should be.

Any idea what this could be?

Thank you in advance!

onioneye

Hi there,

glad you love the theme! Thanks for buying it. :)

Regarding the minor issue with the search bar, it seems that the newest version of google chrome broke some things, even though the code is perfectly fine, so I’m not exactly sure why chrome “chokes” on it. The new version seems to be kind of buggy because I noticed it breaks things on other sites as well.

Anyway, thanks a lot for reporting this. I’m putting this issue in the queue for the next update, which should start rolling out pretty soon.

Hello, OnionEye!

Cheers for a great theme. I enjoyed working with it a lot, the code is very clean and well commented!

I have a question about search results: when none are found, search form that appears below “nothing’s been found” text seems to be off the central alignment. Could you kindly advise on how to fix it or, better yet, align everything to the left (just like more fruitful search results are)?

Many thanks in advance,

Nick

onioneye

Hi Nick,

glad you find the theme great, including its code! Thanks for the purchase. :)

As far as the search form goes, the following CSS should do the job:

.search .portfolio-search input { position: relative; left: 13px; }

You can include the code at the bottom of the style.css file, or via some plugin, made for the purpose of embedding custom CSS to the theme.

By the way, please consider rating the theme on your downloads page, if you like it so much. It only takes a few seconds to do and would make me very happy. :)

Thanks a lot, OnionEye. Sorry I forgot to rate the theme – I bought it some time ago, so it slipped my mind. It’s a 5/5, of course.

By the way, did you have a chance to fix the issue with search bar vs. Chrome the degordon mentioned in a previous comment?

onioneye

Hi Nick,

you are very much welcome! Thanks for rating the theme with five stars. :)

As far as the minor issue with the search bar in chrome goes, I am 100% sure this is a chrome bug because the code is perfectly valid/standard, and behaves properly in all other major browsers.

I tried to identify the reason behind chrome’s strange behavior, but without any success so far. I guess I’m going to need to wait for the next version of chrome to come out, to see if the bug is fixed. That should happen fairly quickly though, given that chrome is on a fast release channel.

By the way, I am welcome to any other suggestions you might have on the matter. :)

Hello again, Onioneye!

We are very happy with you theme! Our website is www.chainbit.com

Are you available for custom work? We made some minor adjustments for theme to better suit our needs, but we would benefit from more advanced customization as well.

In particular, the theme looks great on tablets and – to all of you out there – doesn’t need responsiveness as such (well, except for, maybe, small mobile devices), but disappearance of rollover text on portfolio items makes it hard to navigate through them. This problem is quite specific to our website, though, because we used these portfolio slots to display non-creative content. If portfolio is used the way it’s intended to, that’s not a bothersome issue.

Anyway, that’s the kind of customization we’re looking for:-) Please let me know if you’re interested and available.

Very best,

Nick

Hi there again, Nick! :)

I am really glad you are happy with the theme, but I am unfortunately unavailable for freelance work. My best suggestion for you now is to turn to the forums, or Envato’s freelance marketplace, http://freelanceswitch.com/ to find a freelancer for the job.

I wish you the best of luck with everything!

Hello OnionEye,

Cool theme, but I am having difficulties when trying to upload and install the .zip on my WordPress site. It says:

The package could not be installed. The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet.

Theme install failed.

What’s going on? Thank you so much for your help!!

onioneye

Hi there,

no worries. You are just trying to install the theme improperly. You need to unzip the file you downloaded and upload the theme found inside it. Please see Solving broken theme issues.

By the way, glad you find the theme cool! Thanks for the purchase. :)

Hey Onioneye!

Just bought Hypermind. Thanks for a great theme! It will really save me a lot of time. I have some questions though since I’m new to wordpress..

How do I change fonts, menu-font color and how can I go in and change the view-details.png on the portfolio thumbs to my own png?

Thanks again for a great work!

onioneye

Hi there,

glad you find the theme great! Thanks for buying it. :)

To answer your questions:

1) You can easily change the theme’s fonts, either completely manually, by changing them in the main stylesheet (style.css file), or by using a plugin, like WP Google Fonts plugin (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-google-fonts/), which lets you embed hundreds of different fonts from the google webfonts repository. It does almost everything for you, but some further, very minor adjustments to the CSS of the theme might be needed to get everything like you want it to be.

2) The menu font color can be changed under the “Site Navigation” section of the style.css file.

3) You can overwrite the original view-details.png image with your own, in the /hypermind/images/ directory on your server.

Gorgeous!

Does it have a dark version?

onioneye

Hi there,

glad you find the theme gorgeous! Thanks for taking an interest in it.

As far as your question goes, the theme doesn’t come with a premade dark version, so you would have to make it yourself, unfortunately.

Have lots of fun working with HyperMind, if you end up buying it! :)

How to add a list of social networks, which is not in the defaul theme?

onioneye

Hi there,

thanks for buying the theme! Appreciate it. :)

As far as your question goes, it is possible to add additional social networking icons, but some development work is required of you, since this is not available out of the box. This task is most definitely a task for a developer.

Hint: you would first have to add your icons to the /hypermind/images/ directory on your server, and then customize the following files:

  • options.php
  • theme-functions.php (the “oy_get_the_social_networks” function)
  • style.css (“Header Styles” section)

Hi there,

glad you love the theme! Thanks for buying it. :)

Unfortunately, I’m unable to provide support for modifications beyond one or two lines of code, and yours involve much, much more than that. In actuality, they almost literally involve every single file, found in the theme’s core.

I usually charge for these types of modifications, but I stopped accepting freelance work for the time being, because I will be buried in work over the next few months. My best suggestion for you is to turn to the forums, or Envato’s freelance marketplace, http://freelanceswitch.com/ to find a skillful and reputable freelancer for the job.

I am really sorry I couldn’t be of more help, regarding the matter. Please don’t hesitate to let me know if I can assist you with anything else.

Hi there!

great theme! But I have one question. Is it possible to have some space between the portfolio thumbnails on the homepage? Now they’re sticking together…

thanks in advance!

onioneye

Hi there,

glad you find the theme great! Thanks a lot for buying both Yin & Yang and Hypermind. Appreciate it very much. :)

As far as your question goes, you would have to modify the template-home.php and the style.css files to achieve what you are after.

By the way, in cases where the modifications include more than one or two lines of code, and both of your customization requests definitely do, I am unable to provide any custom code, but will gladly provide the files that need to be modified. Therefore, my best suggestion for you is to turn to the forums, or Envato’s freelance marketplace, http://freelanceswitch.com/ to find a skillful and reputable freelancer for the job, if you are not a developer yourself.

Thanks for the quick response! :-) I think I can manage it myself. For space between the portfolio thumbnails, can you guide me in which part of the file I need to modify?

Thanks!

onioneye

Hi there,

you are very much welcome! :)

As far as your latest question goes, you need to modify the part after the <!-- START .portfolio-gallery --> line of code in the template-home.php file. When it comes to the style.css file, you would mainly have to modify the “Portfolio” and “Grid” sections.

Hint: familiarize yourself with the theme’s grid, and see which (grid) classes are applied to the thumbnails/items on the homepage. Also, use a tool like Firefox’s Firebug, or Chrome’s Web Inspector, as they will help you in determining which styles are applied to which elements. I find those two tools indispensable in my working process, so I suggest you start using them too, if you aren’t doing so already.

Good luck with everything! :)

Hi,

Can I disable Ajax for portfolio items?

I want the link from a portfolio image to open an individual page for this item without Ajax.

Thanks!

onioneye

Hi there,

thanks for buying the theme! Appreciate it. :)

As far as your question goes, it is possible to do this, but since it is not available out of the box, some development work is required of you, and that is most definitely a task for a developer.

Hint: the main part of this task includes making a single-portfolio.php file.

By the way, if you are not a developer yourself, but absolutely need to have the mentioned feature available in your copy of the theme, then my best suggestion for you is to turn to the forums, or Envato’s freelance marketplace, http://freelanceswitch.com/ to find a reputable freelancer for the job.

Hi again and thank you for the previous answer,

Could you please also point me to the solution to another problem.

What files should I modify to change the size for the portfolio images from 235×190 to 235×235?

It seems that there is some script that automatically cropping any image to the 235×190 size and placing that new image to the portfolio grid. I need all my images to be 235×235 size.

Thanks!

onioneye

Hi there,

you are very much welcome. :)

As far as your latest question goes, you can make the desired modification happen, by changing the $desired_height variable in the template-home.php file to 235, and the “height” CSS property under the “Portfolio” section of the style.css file from “190px” to “235px”. That should do it.

I have a client who loves the theme, but now she is asking about making it responsive or more compatible with mobile devices. Do you have any recommendations for this feature request (a plugin maybe)? Will you be updating this theme to be responsive later? Please advise.

onioneye

Hi there,

thanks a lot for buying the theme! Glad your client loves it. :)

As far as your question goes, I don’t have any plugins to recommend, unfortunately. My best suggestion is to do everything manually as that is the best and only method I know off, really, but it is also definitely the hardest, as it would take quite a lot of development work to achieve a true responsive layout. Anyway, I don’t believe I will update the theme to have a responsive layout, sometimes in the future, so your best bet is to do this on your own, if you are sure you can handle it.

Good luck!

Love all your themes. I’ve purchased Hypermind, Yin&Yang, and Equilibrium. I’m trying to move the “Latest Articles” above the “Latest Projects” on the home page template. I have rearranged all of the associated code for both the articles and the projects, and it looks good except the Preview Images for the latest projects are out of whack. They are smaller than they should be. Any recomomnedation to fix this? Thanks!

onioneye

Hi there,

glad you love my themes! Thanks A LOT for buying almost all of them! :)

As far as your issue goes, my best suggestion for you is to compare the original file to the modified one, and pay careful attention to the ”$image_width” and ”$image_height” PHP variables (where their values are changed), as that’s where your problem lies.

Have a wonderful day,

OnionEye

  • Bought between 10 and 49 items

Thanks for the response! Unfortunately I didn’t change any ”$image_width” or ”$image_height” variables in the template-home.php. I simply copied and pasted the associated code with ‘latest articles’ and ‘latest projects’ in place of one another (to put the latest articles on top). I think it may be a grid issue? Or in another linked .php file? Thanks again!

onioneye

Well, that’s exactly where your problems lies—in not changing the mentioned variables. They are different for the two mentioned sections, so when you invert the positioning of the sections themselves, the values of the variables stay the same, even though they should be inverted as well. Long story short, you need to carefully look at the two variables and play with them, to get your images looking as they should.

Hope this helps! :)

The filter ui is epic!!! I hope you think in something like that for your next theme. :)

onioneye

Hi there,

thanks for the awesome compliment! The next theme is already completed, but I still have to carefully write its documentation, and go through the ThemeForest’s rigorous review process, which might delay the release of the theme up to 30 days.

By the way, the theme is going to be very interactive and fully responsive. In my personal opinion, it might be the best portfolio site I’ve done so far.

When it will be ready?

onioneye

Glad you are excited about it! I actually finished it last night, after months of work, but now I have to go through the ThemeForest’s review process, which might delay the release of the theme for another 15 days, or even up to a month, but it also may be released in the next few days, if the review staff decides the theme is good to go as it is. Every theme has to go through that, so it’s nothing new really. :)

Hello again :)

I’ve installed the theme for a new client. Unfortunately I noticed that the generated URLs for portfolio items come up completely empty, e.g.: http://www.duendefashion.com/portfolio/dip-dye-open-back-cotton-dress/

This is pretty bad since searching for such portfolio items in Google will return empty pages.

Is there a plan to fix this anytime soon? Thanks in advance!

onioneye

Hi there, again! :)

Hope you’ve been doing fine. As far as your issue goes, you can easily remedy it yourself, if you need this immediately, by making a single-portfolio.php file inside the yin_and_yang directory on your server, and calling “the_title” and “the_content” PHP functions in it.

Here are the references to the two mentioned functions:

http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/the_title http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/the_content

Hope this helps!
