I am having a difficult time getting the nivo slider to work. Is there a tutorial anywhere I can consult? Thanks!

I only know how to contact you via this thread. How do I send you a private email with the user/pass?

Hi , I am new to wordPress, so I am not sure if I have not completed everything, I am getting an error, and hopefully you can point me in the right direction ….. the error is as follows {Shown at th bottom of the manage Themes page} ...

Broken Themes The following themes are installed but incomplete. Themes must have a stylesheet and a template.

Name Description ICE Stylesheet is missing.

Have you come accross this before.

Thank you

The theme installation process is described in the theme documentation. If you are installing theme by uploading a zip file make sure you have uploaded the ‘ice.zip’ file, not the whole package downloaded from ThemeForest. If you are uploading the theme via FTP , make sure you have uploaded only the ‘ice’ folder, not the whole package.

There is a nice tutorial in the Envato wiki – maybe it will help you.

Thats great e404 …... worked and error message gone …. thanks for quick responce ….cheers

Hi – love the theme! I have a couple of questions!

Is it possible to have different top menus applied on different pages?

Also how would I apply a static image where the slideshow would go?

Love the theme! Great work! :)

Mas

No, there is no way to have different menu on different pages.

You can insert a static image into the home page using the [image] shortcode or a regular HTML code. When you turn off the slider the page content will start at the top of the page.

The first Ice Theme update is ready for a download. The full changelog can be found in the item description.

Anyone tested with BBPress, and is there support for it?

Is it possible to style the top menu like the “cold” theme?

Thanks

This theme wasn’t tested with BBPress and I don’t think it will work without some customizations.

It’s possible to style the menu to look like in the Cold Theme, but it requires some custom CSS coding.

OR Mingle Forums?

thanks

This theme doesn’t support Mingle Forums.

What is the subpages navigation? I think it’s in the shortcode section. And how hard would it be to make the header area with the logo and contact info/hours larger? Would you tell me the code I need if I purchase the theme? I’m a novice. I was looking again at the Nivo shortcode. Do I understand correctly that I could put that in any sidebar or post with a different set of images than I have in the home page silders? (I’m still looking for ways to put images in pages other than the home page.) Does the Galleria need to be on the gallery page? That seems like another way to add images somewhere other than the home page, but I wasn’t sure where it can be placed. I like your theme. It seems like it would be very customizable, which is what I need.

You can see the subpages navigation widget on the Shortcodes page and all its subpages. It’s a list of all subpages, useful when you have a more complex pages structure.

The page header will change its height when you put for example a higher logo image. Of course you can also change a contact info size via custom CSS code. I can help you with that.

Yes, you can put a different set of images to every Nivo shortcode instance. You can do the same with the Galleria shortcode.

Galleria doesn’t need to be placed on the gallery page – it can be placed on any page or blog post.

Then it sounds like I wouldn’t have a problem getting a slider on any page by using the Nivo shortcode. It would just be in a sidebar instead a large one at the top of the page. That’s good. And as far as the subpages navigation, am I correct that it lets me have several levels of menu items. For example, if I have a menu item called Products. Then below that I want 3 categories: Oil, Filters, Books. A person could then hover over Oil and see Automobile, Truck, Motorcycle. Then could then click on Truck to go to a page with oil for trucks. Is that correct and how many levels can I have? Can any top level menu item have subpages – all of them can have a subpage? In other words, it’s like a scaled down mega menu?

e404

The subpages navigation has nothing to do with the menu – it represents the pages hierarchy. Each page can have the parent page and can be the parent page for another pages.

I think it’s possible to make a pages hierarchy you have described. For example, Oil, Filters and Books pages should have the Products page set as a parent page and Automobile, Truck and Motorcycle pages should have the Oil page set as a parent page. Of course you can create this hierarchy also in the top menu, but these things are completely independent. By the way: both pages hierarchy and hierarchical menu are WordPress features, not theme features.

Hey there, great theme! Is there a way to insert the featured image by custom field? What is the name of the custom field? And what is the code to insert for the featured image? Are there other custom fields already supported by the theme, and how can I add more? Thx Tobias

Sorry for being not clear: well i’ve been trying to find a way to make it easier for clients to add a new blog entry. So i tried out various Wordpress Desktop Apps for OSX . None of them support the featured image area, but all of them let you drag and drop images into custom fields. So I thought it would be nice to setup as many blog specific custom fields as possible for your theme. That way I could create a blog template in the desktop app for my non-experienced clients which just lets them drag&drop images in the specified custom fields and write some text and the uploaded post would then be automatically transformed into a nicely looking blog post in the ice theme. So ideally I would want to know how to create custom fields from certain elements of your theme (like f.ex. image sizes in blogs). Or do you have a better idea or know of a more visual way to edit blogs for beginners? Hope I am being clearer now, thx for considering. Tobias

Yes, now I understand. :)

But at this moment the theme doesn’t support featured images added in custom fields. To be honest, I didn’t think anyone would need such feature. ;) And I’m sorry, but I’m not planning to add this feature in the near future. You can of course try to do this by yourself, but it requires some code customizations (templates and scripts). You can create custom fields for posts or pages ‘on the fly’ (just like in the WordPress editor), but then you have to add a support for them in templates and/or theme scripts. So basically it requires a lot of work.

Thanks for clarifying. Oh well then, will try to make it work with the wordpress backend for my beginner clients. thanks anyway.

Thanks – is there a specific way to setup a child theme for this without copying across all the files? Cheers

In general this theme doesn’t support child themes. But if you want to make some CSS modifications it a good idea to put them into the Custom CSS box (Theme Options -> Styling Options), because you won’t lose your changes after theme update.

Hi,

The theme looks great, but when I load I see a checkered background that’s light gray. It doesn’t bother me, but when I look at it on an iPad I see that background on one side of my side.

In Theme Options—> Background Settings I disabled the background effect.

Within the Theme Options—> Styling Options I checked “enable the theme customization and changed the background color to to #ffffff

I did try to adding a small white gif to the “Custom Background Picture” but that didn’t work.

Thanks!

Can I see your website? I would like to check this issue by myself.

how do you implement the contact form? i can’t seem to find any page templates or shortcodes.

thanks.

e404

It’s described in the theme documentation – you should install the Contact Form 7 plugin. You can find a sample contact page using this plugin in the ‘sample content’ folder.

Hey, just found a bug.

Yes, you’re right. Thank you for the info and I’m very sorry for this inconvenience. This bug will be fixed in the next theme update.

Like this theme! But I’m missing the images for the Social Icons Black Color Variant

There is only one set of social icons in the Ice Theme. The variant select option in the admin panel is a mistake – sorry.

Still loving the theme.

Have adapted some css in ‘ice theme options > styling options > custom css.

If i use for instance a new background image for the body it is called into the css before other css in the style-01.css sheet. any of my changes are overridden by the style sheet.

What am I doing wrong?

Mas

e404
e404 Author

The code from the Custom CSS box are included at the end, so it is not overwritten by style.css or styleXX.css stylesheet. So you probably have some error in your custom styles.

It’s the theme that’s overwriting the css with the theme background styling options set to disabled it creates

body { background-image: none; }

which stops any custom bg to work.

I don’t think it’s my css.

Mas

Have set it to theme default for background settings and now the css is working. Sorry to bother you! :-)

Thanks – Moved onto the Flickr Widget – is it possible to display images from groups rather than just users?

- 64806202@N06 Works Fine (User)
- 1749588@N23 Doesn't Work (Group)

At this moment the Flickr widget can display user photos only. I’ll try to add the option to fetch group pohotos in the next theme update, but for now you can make a little modification to fetch group photos. Edit the ‘inc/tools.php’ file, find the following string:
photos_public.gne
and replace it with:
groups_pool.gne

Thanks – works a treat – sometime calling a group is best as many people administer their business or blog photos through their personal account in a separate group.

I have a pre-sales question.

Does this theme have the option to create an audio-portfolio (with MP3 -files) in stead of a video portfolio?

thanks in advance, Michiel

e404
e404 Author

On a single portfolio item page (example) you can have anything you want, including some audio player. On a portfolio page (example) you can have a video preview, but NOT an audio preview.

Please note that this theme doesn’t have any audio player included, so you have to use some external one (third party plugin or embedded player).
