Hello,

I found that the short code [symple_blog excerpt_length=”X”] cannot trim the Chinese character. It can trim English and numbers. It is also happening in Services.

Can you help me to fix it?

The issue has not occurred after I used Chinese version of WP. I think it is related to localized issue.

In the portfoliodemo are conluded: posts with a single image, a video or a imageslider. Is it possible to stack a serie of images just beneath each other, or make a gallery of the images? With a gallery I mean like the galleries you’re showing in the menu by ‘Features’.

There isn’t a layout built-in for this. But you could insert the WP gallery within the post if you want, just not above the title like the default layouts.

My Office theme does have that sort of layout built-in.

Also, not sure if you like this design, but maybe my Metropix theme is well suited for you:

Ok, am I right that there’s always a featured image above the title (otherwise there is no image at the portfolio page) and it’s possible to add images into the text of the post, even as a gallery?

Yes the portfolio will have a featured image at the top always unless you select the video or slider styles.

You can insert anything you want in the post content because it’s just a regular post editor. Think about it like any regular page/post.

You could just create a new page template. That would be the easiest. Then instead of calling header.php directly at the top of your template copy/paste the content from header.php and remove what you don’t want.

This is a really good theme, probably the best I’ve purchased so far on this site.

One area I initially had difficulty with was the use of shortcodes & plugins for controlling the layout. I jumped straight in without using the included demo set-up, and the usage of shortcodes was a new way of working for me.

However, I quickly grasped the usage of shortcodes for layout, and I can see this method is best, especially if you change themes at a later date.

Overall the theme works smoothly for a variety of old and new browsers (so far no compatibility issues). Extensive options in the admin panel, and the additional shortcode/plugin usage adds more flexibility for endless layouts on your pages, which allows a more flexible and creative control over page layout, making a site more interesting.

I highly recommend this theme and the author, if his other themes are to the same standard, then I honestly think you will not be disappointed with your theme purchase.

Hey thanks for the awesome review and I’m so glad you like the theme!

I do see how the shortcodes layout is a bit complex at first. In my newer Ultra theme and upcoming theme I have a pre-built layout controlled via the theme options for this reason – you should check it out I will likely consider the same system for Impact when I update when 3.6 comes out.

I finally located the documentation within this Q&A forum, which has helped greatly to resolve some important open questions. Another great template by WPExplorer! Consistently well thought out.

One of the things that I don’t see addressed is dimensions for gallery images. I want to edit before upload, and I am not 100% certain what size to edit to. Does the gallery allow for multiple image sizes or is it restricted?

Ok so regarding gallery sizes…The theme will crop them automatically so I think uploading large images is ideal (you can always use the WordPress built-in cropping tool to adjust).

That said, featured mages for the gallery (I assume you mean portfolio) are 500px by 450px (a bit larger then they might show due to responsiveness).

If you want retina support (will be added in next update) then you would want to double those dimensions.

You can actually see and edit all image sizes very easily in the file located at Impact/functions/default-img-sizes.php

Thanks. Actually, no I don’t mean Portfolio. I think my use of the two sections may be what is causing some of my own befuddlement. I am using the Portfolio section to display individual courses offered by the client. I am separately adding a gallery of photographs to each course instructor’s Staff page. I am trying to determine what size images I should add and if I can add vertical, as well as horizontal. The sample Gallery that I see in your previews only show horizontal, with what looks to be a 250×250 thumbnail and a 500×500 image. I just wanted to know if the sizes listed in the documentation for Portfolio correlate to the Gallery view, as well.

Oh the WordPress gallery…Yes these are 500×450 always.

In my newest theme Econo and Ultra I do have a parameter to control the image sizes for the WP gallery shortcode, but unfortunately not for this theme as I hadn’t thought about it at that point

If you really want full control of the WP gallery I really would suggest maybe disabling the custom one in the theme panel. That way you can use the default style as well as you will then be able to use any gallery plugin out there – there are many great ones that I think could fit your needs.

I noticed that when using JetPack’s Sharing Settings, the social button images do not show up. Does this theme support JetPack? Or could there be something else wrong with my site? I currently have caching plugins disabled.

Hello ! I wanted to know if there is a way to change the fonts type, color and size of text used without going into CSS code ? I would really like to have more options to change fonts but couldnt figure it out yet. Shall i install a plug in ? Thanks for your help.

This should really be done via CSS.

I think I might add body/heading font options to the admin panel in the next update as I’ve done in my latest theme. But anything beyond that (such as colors, font weight..etc) is really just bloat.

There are some plugins on CodeCanyon and WP.org for fonts, but if you know basic CSS I think it’s a much better solution to keep your server speedy

Hi -

I’m struggling with the sidebar and hope you can help? I need to have more than one sidebar (one sidebar on a page still, but different content on different pages) and tried using a plugin – but it doesn’t work. I am thinking this might be because the register_sidebar function isn’t called in the functions.php file? http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/register_sidebar

I have been researching this but this is where I get stuck because everything that talks about sidebars refers to this and I’m not seeing it. If you could offer any suggestions about how I can accomplish my end goal I’d be so appreciative!

Hi AJ, i have a problem with showing the portfolio items in tabs.

On my website i have created 5 tabs. In 1st tab the portfolio items are displayed correct. If i use the same portfolio shortcode in the 2nd tab the items are squeezed.

Any idea?

Looks like there is a clearing issue.

Try adding the clear floats shortcode ( from the symple shortcodes) in the second tab at the bottom.

When I download and installed ‘Impact’, I was expecting when I activated it that it would look just like your demo site. Did I do something wrong, or is it not going to start out looking just like your demo.

Please let me know. I’d like it to look like the demo, so that I can use that as a starting point.

Unfortunately that isn’t how WordPress works. You will have to upload the sample data and then do a few more steps that WP can’t accomplish via sample data ( select menu location, add your widgets, setup the homepage, upload slides).

I did this, after I discovered that the file download from Themeforest only had the Impact.zip info, not the Documentation, Upload, etc. folders. I had to go back onto Themeforest and download the .zip file again, and they were in there – including the sample data. I followed the sample video and when I pull up my site, it looks nothing like the demo. I’m not expecting the same pictures, but the format is not even close. Do I need to do something else.

I also have a PDF of the site, but I don’t know how to attach it here for you to look at.
