+3 morevery neat
Awesome, neat and clean… great job!
Matt… where do you get the time to completely design a theme AND THEN CODE IT in less than a week!? You’re a beast.
Looks good… just like all the others!
You are a wordpress machine, haha. I really like your creations.
Amazing theme, so as all of your work!
Wow, that’s amazing how you can cram all that information into a theme, and it’s still clean.
Good work!
So how can we see the light demo?
nice one bookmarked to buy
i noticed the images are bunched together in the post against the slider, im using ie8
Yea I just noticed that too :/
The more you don’t tailor a website to a specific category/need, the more customers you will lose. Just a tip for you. You should focus each website you make to a particular market – and you will see the difference.
See what I mean? – Just look at the number of people buying, not many, even in a month’s time, and the price is ridiculously high for a theme like that. It’s not that good. Lower your price and you’ll get a few more sales.
One suggestion…I’d recommend putting some space between the slider and the image under it. I know the lower image was probably meant to be right up under the slider, but it doesn’t look like it was meant to be that way.
Just a thought…
Otherwise, a great theme…whether focused or not. I think the lack of a particular focus is good. The content can make this theme any number of things.
wow. another must buy for me. You really have talent. Looking forward to more.
Glad most people are digging this theme. Thanks for the feedback!
@Phoenix_Zero: Seriously, where did I find the time? A couple late nights, that’s for sure. But since I’ve already got 4 under my belt, a lot of the code was recycled from my other themes. That saved a huge amount of time. WP dev only took about 8-10 hours.
@Abasalom: Unfortunately, I can’t run a demo for each colour scheme. It would take 2 separate installs, which is why I included a couple full page screenshots of the light scheme. What I can do though, is run the demo site with the light scheme for a while. Would that help?
RE: Post image under features There’s a reason it looks odd – I initially had the feature tabs on the left hand side, but I found it disrupted the flow having the big image to the right. Your eye didn’t naturally go down the left column. But now, as you’ve pointed out, the post image for the most recent post looks out of whack since it’s bumped right up underneath the feature images. I’ll see if I can come up with a solution for this soon. Any suggestions?
@lovecoredesigns: We’ll see how it does over time. I’m not too worried that it only has 2 sales in the first 12 hours. Actually, I wouldn’t be worried if this theme tanked entirely, to be honest. My other 4 themes are doing quite well.
The reason I decided not to focus this theme on a specific purpose is simple – the vast majority of people buying my other themes, are using them for purposes other than what I intended. Black Aperture is a gaming theme – I’ve seen several sites running it, about 2 or 3 of them are actually gaming sites. I’ve seen more people using Spectre for religious sites than anything else. Again, only a couple of actual portfolios. You see where I’m going with this.
Price is decided by ThemeForest, not myself. I think it’s a fair price, though. It may not have half a dozen colour schemes, but it has 2 full colour schemes. Most themes I’ve looked at that offer alternate schemes change a few images and call it a day. Each scheme is comprised of over 40 images and 400 lines of CSS . It was a lot of work to include them both, not to mention time spent in Photoshop. Aside from that, I write top notch markup and CSS , and my WP dev skills aren’t too shabby either. In other words, I don’t do shitty/half-assed work.
the price is fair considering what you would charge to have something like this done custom, i have bought over 30 themes from this site, and all are reasonable, mostly in the 20-30$ range, when you compare to other themeclubs costing $70-100$ per theme.
Matt, sorry I know I’ve been asking a lot of questions lately both here and on your Twitter account, but is there a chance you could add your Game Reviews module to this theme, or do a quick (I say quick but I have no idea how much time this needs) job at Black Aperture by releasing a silver color for it with the added features of Imperial? I prefer how you present the featured articles in Imperial, but I’m not too happy about how it uses 3 columns. I think the social network buttons look fantastic in Imperial compared to Aperture, too. I guess I could just customize it myself but it would take forever and not look as clean.
A light demo would definately be welcome. What you could do is alternate one day black color, the other silver color so potential buyers can experience both choices. As someone who prefer silver themes, it would definately help.
Thanks for your time.
edit ; you could even sell the updated Black Aperture theme by fusing it with the best of Imperial and calling it a different name. Another problem I have with Aperture is how it uses english-only buttons, while in Imperial at least the Reply button is gone so you can translate with no hassle or PhotoShop editing to do. Just nitpicking though.
Post image under features
Just put 40px padding-top on post-inner
Is it possible to see demo for the light version?
I like this one…bookmarked!
hey is it possible to remove the image thing and add a video preview for vimeo?
