I’m a having problems with the Indus Content Slider widget … I followed the instruction and placed each entry into li-tags like this:

But both images show up at the same time, no sliding function – what did I do wrong?

<li><img src="pathtomyimage1.jpg" /></li>
<li><img src="pathtomyimage2.jpg" /></li>

Hello davekembe,

Since the slider is not functioning, it is likely that you didn’t provided a unique ID for Slider. Inside the widget options, it will be required to provide a unique slider ID. For example, my_slider, or dave_slider. After providing a unique ID name, save the widget. It will work. :)

I read a post here where a captcha option for contact form was discussed ….

Is there a code I can add to get captcha to work with the Indus contact form?

SaurabhSharma

Hello Dave,

Indus supports Contact Form 7 plugin. You can have a captcha by installing the Contact form 7 with recaptcha extension with Wp Recaptcha. This requires you to be registered with Google reCaptcha service. A key will be provided which you can provide inside the settings. CF7 recaptcha will use the service from WP Recaptcha, and you can have a form short code same as you get with normal CF7 plugin. I hope that will help.

You can see a demo of these plugins on my Walk Theme.

davekembe

Thx I will try the plugin

Saurabh,

What are your recommended best practices for updating Indus 1.1 to Indus 1.3?

Thank you.

SaurabhSharma

Hello cosmospacely,

Each update has a version_details.txt file that contains information about files that were modified (relative to it’s previous version). You can do the following to update the theme:

1. Take a backup of style.css and all those files which you have customized. (Like php files, JS files or images).
2. Replace the indus folder with the latest one.
3. Replace back your style.css file and other customized files.

The version_details.txt file will give you an idea about the customized files. So if you have modified any of those files, you can compare both and append the changes. :)

Thank you, Saurabh.

Hi I’m tryng to add the widget area on bottom like your demo home page. I take your home.txt code but how can i add the widget on bottom? thank you.

SaurabhSharma

Hello rivenr,

Navigate to Appearance > Widgets. Next, drag the widgets inside “Secondary Column 1, Secondary Column 2 ..” and so on. These are the widget areas for secondary section.

Hello, I love this template and I am excited to show my client their new site. I’m pretty new with web, so excuse if my question is simple.

I am having a problem that is driving me crazy. When attempting to set my menu on wordpress/wp-admin/nav-menus.php, I choose the menu i created (“main”) and click Save. However, the menu does not appear on the page and if I reload the menus admin page, it has reset to the blank menu item. In other words, when I click save, it does not save. Therefore, I have no menu!

I also had similar issue with setting background color. I read through previous posts here and changed the code as you suggested, but this does not seem to fix the issue.

I appreciate any insight you may be able to offer. I have not seen this issue appear in the previous forum posts, so I am not sure what could be the problem. I’ve tried every browser and even a different computer just to be sure.

Thank you, Karl

Hi again, I have solved this problem. The problem was with the name of the folder that ThemeForest delivers in. Apparently the name of the folder was too long to save the custom menus, so I renamed it. This has also solved my background problem. Thank you!

SaurabhSharma

Hello Karl,

Thanks for trying and finding the solution. The folder name should not come into consideration because it is required to install the ‘indus’ folder, not the actual download zip file. Your site directory structure should look similar to:

wp-content/themes/indus/ <—Correct one
wp-content/themes/your_download_zip/indus/ <—Wrong one

This is just for reference. But I’m glad you solved the problem. :)

Thank you so much for your response! That actually does help me very much for future reference…I am building several client sites now and that piece of advice will help me immensely.

Thank you so much for being so quick with your response! Amazing customer service – a rare and unexpected thing, especially in the online commerce world. I’ll be sure to look at your portfolio for future purchases.

Best, Karl

Hi Saurabh, On my blog posts I want to remove the META part of the side menu, so there is NO site admin, log out etc etc

Can you please let me know how I alter what is displayed in this menu

regards Paul Young

SaurabhSharma

Hello Paul,

The sidebar is a widget area where you can add or remove widgets. The one you are refering to is the “Meta” Widget. Navigate to WordPress Appearance > Widgets. Next, look for the Sidebar widget area and pull out this “Meta” widget. This will hide it from the site.

Hi, I have a simple question, where in the .css can i find the orange underline from the navigation, want to change it to white! Can’t figure it out ;)

regards

SaurabhSharma

Hello SilverCell,

Inside style.css file section 4. HEADER > Primary Menu:

.nav1 li.current-menu-item > a, .nav1 li.current-menu-ancestor > a { color:#fff; border-bottom:2px solid #ff9900 }

Change #ff9900 to #fff. That will turn the orange border into white.

Hello Saurabh,

would it be possible to add another social network service to the indus social icons widget? How could I do that? Instead of “LinkedIn” I would like to make use of “Xing”. I already have an icon image in 16 and 32px available. Where do we have to put this one?

Best regards

SaurabhSharma

Hello zouma,

Social icon images are located as:

indus/images/social_sprite_16.png
indus/images/social_sprite_32.png

You can edit these sprite images in PhotoShop and replace the LinkedIn icon with Xing.

Next, it will be required to edit the title attribute of linkedin. For this, opne includes/social_links_widget.php file and edit line no. 63:

$output .= '<li><a href="'.$in_url.'" class="in" title="LinkedIn" ></a>';

Change the title attribute to “Xing”. Besides this, keep everything unchanged (class names, variable, etc). Inside widget options, you will still see Linkedin, but on site it will show Xing icon.

Hi, First i love your Theme, classic design but also very nice!

I have a little Problem with a sidebar slider, that rotates the blog featured images, because what it does is correct but i wanted that every image will redirect to the same page and i can’t figure out how i can do this :/ Hope you know what i mean and that you can help me! regards

SaurabhSharma

Hello SilverCell,

Thanks for the kind feedback.

Minislider widget redirects to individual posts. If you wish to show an image slider with custom links, you can make use of ‘Indus Content Slider’. In this slider you can insert the image code manually inside li tags, as shown below:

<li><a href="link_to_page"><img src="url_of_slide_image1"/></a></li>
<li><a href="link_to_page"><img src="url_of_slide_image2"/></a></li>

If you wish to hard code the page link for ‘Mini Slider’, that can be done inside indus/includes/mini_slider_widget.php, line no. 61:

<li><a href="<?php the_permalink() ?>" ...

In this line, href value can be changed to any link. But I would recommend using Content Slider widget.

Hi,

Love the theme … so nice and clean.

I’m using it on a wordpress multisite and I have imported your dummy data code for the home page. I’ve replaced the urls of the three images under the slideshow with other images I have uploaded. The problem is those images do not display. I get a word like “Design” and when I hover a black bar with a plus sign shows up. When I click that then the photo displays. What am i doing wrong to make the image display like the demo? thanks

SaurabhSharma

Hello RoughReady,

Thanks for the purchase and kind feedback.

The image URLs being used should point to your media library, or own server location. Make sure they are not external images. I can tell more if you send me your site URL , or post it here. You can mail me at xconsau[at]gmail[dot]com. I will check it.

They are not external images. I’ve uploaded them into WP and just changed out the code in your dummy data file… again, love the theme :) and good documentation.

SaurabhSharma

Hello RoughReady,

I just checked the site. The images are being fetched from external source. i.e. they should reside inside media library of friendsofthefruitvillelibrary.org. Currently, they are located inside uploads directory of roughandreadydemo.com.

For example, the slider images are working fine with timthumb. That’s because they are located inside files/ directory of your MU installation. In the same way, those three images should reside in friendsofthefruitvillelibrary. I hope that will work.

Hi Saurabh,

where can I change the heading (color, size) of the three Default Secondary Columns – I have been searching the .css files but did not find the right piece of code …

SaurabhSharma

Hello Dave,

You can edit that inside style.css file’s section 9. Secondary:

.secondary h5 { font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color:#444; margin-bottom:12px; font-size:10px; text-transform:uppercase }
.secondary h5 span { border-bottom:1px dotted #ccc }

Hi,

Great theme!

On the post pages I have to remove the date and “author”. If you can let me know that would be very helpful.

Thanks

SaurabhSharma

Hello imorow,

Navigate to WordPress Appearance > Indus Options > Single > Hide Post Meta. Enable this option and save settings. This will hide post meta information on blog pages and single posts.

If you wish to hide this information only on single posts, you can add the following rules at the end of style.css file:

.single .date_card, .single .meta-box { display:none }

You can use any of the above mentioned methods.

Hello, I love the theme but can’t get a background to show up. I loaded it, it shows it in the preview, but it’s just not appearing on the site.

SaurabhSharma

Hello maryvogt,

Can you send me the site link. I think you are using the ‘stretched’ layout. WordPress background will work only for boxed layout. I can tell more if I see the site link.

Where, please is code for speed of homepage slide show? Need to change that to a bit slower.

Many thanks!

SaurabhSharma

Hello ohsusannah,

If using Cycle Slider, open js/custom.js file and edit line no. 190-191:

speed: 400,
timeout: 4000,

For Nivo Slider, open js/nivo_init.js file and edit line no. 11 and 12:

animSpeed:400, // Slide transition speed
pauseTime:3000, // How long each slide will show

These values are in milliseconds, so 3000 means 3 second. You can change it accordingly.

Hi! I’m trying to figure out how you were able to put the “Product Showcase” section on your home page (in the demo). I want to do something similar. Thanks!

SaurabhSharma

Hello maryvogt,

That section is created using column and image frame short codes. You can find the sample markup inside indus/dummy_data/home.txt file. Copy and paste the contents of this file into your Home page (HTML mode). Next, you can replace image URLs with the ones you have.
