Hi. I need to migrate the options to another location. Is there a simple way to do this?

Great work!

SkatDesign

Hi there,

I think you must export the whole database content to your new location in order to keep the settings.

hello there,, i waiting your replay? how is it? Thanks

SkatDesign

Hi there and sorry for the late answer. For some reason your email came up in my spam folder.

So, in order to do that you need a little bit of coding skills. You must duplicate the portfolio custom post type and the carousel. It’s a little bit complicated.

I would like to add another instance of the Latest Work Section, but title it something else and connect it to a different gallery… How would I do this?

It seems to me to be a modification to the homepage.php and the theme-options.php files… Can you point me in the right direction?

SkatDesign

Hi there and thanks for using my theme.

In order to duplicate that section you need to create another custom post type with the same styling as the current one.

The “Portfolio” is a custom post type and the “Latest Work” section is pulling items from it.

Cheers!

ScottSchwab

OK… how do I create another custom post type? And what files am I supposed to modify?

ScottSchwab

I’m really stuck… Please let me know what files I need to modify to do this.

SkatDesign

Hi,

You need some WP/php skills to do that. You must go to the theme’s folder > admin > post_types and check the file “portfolio.php” to see how the post type is created.

The “latest” work is called on homepage.php and the file responsible can be found in the “includes” folder > portfolio_work.php. Duplicate the “portfolio_work.php” and call it on the homepage. Make sure you modify it to pull the items from the new custom post type you’ve created above.

Cheers!

The file is called from the “functions.php” in the theme.

ScottSchwab

Okay, I think I’m almost there!

I’ve added the new custom post_type theme…

I’ve added the necessary code to the various files in order to use the custom post_type.

I can successfully add to add new items to that post type through the theme option page.

The issue is that the theme options has a ”enable/disable” feature, and no matter what I seem to do, I can’t get the option to display in the enable/disable section so I can enable it!

The only way I have successfully been able to see my new custom post_types on the front end is by doing clicking the ”options reset” button – IF I hit that, my new post type DOES appear in the enable/disable section. However, all of my customization goes away as well.

Assuming that updating the DB table in phpmyadmin is NOT good practice, how might I go about updating those options without losing the rest of my customizations?

I look forward to your reply.

ScottSchwab

Help? Can you respond to this last post? I am paying someone to do this and they need an answer from you…

Hi There – I just bought this, and it is great so far, but every time I try to post a youtube video as a slider, the entire home page slider just freezes up on the first slide with the loading icon – any ideas?

SkatDesign

Hi there,

Did you set up an image for the slide?

Cheers!

Hello,

Love the theme. Trying to find the slider dimensions but can’t. Can you tell me what the slider size is? THANKS !!

SkatDesign

Hi there,

The size of the slider image must be at least 920×350. The image can be larger than that and it will be automatically cropped.

Cheers!

You have the innoVative logo on the WP login page and I would like to replace with the WordPress Logo and I can’t seem to modify…

SkatDesign

Hi,

Go to the theme’s folder > images and edit the file named “admin_logo.png”.

Cheers!

Hi again! So I loved your theme so much, I am using it for a second site, but this time I’m running into many errors :( For some reason anytime I make an adjustment through the theme options, it causes major errors to the site. This happened when I changed the font sizing, it happened again when I uploaded a new logo, and it also happened when I changed the font sizes for a second time. At one point even a fatal error came up saying there was a problem in the header.php file. I tried resetting the theme, but that didnt work, and then I uninstalled and reinstalled and activiated the theme which worked the first time, but then again once I changed a setting via the options, the theme broke with the whole page white, and the menu showing with no background, etc. Any ideas as to what is causing this? I’ve tried deactivating my plugins one by one, but nothing seemed to make a difference. I greatly appreciate your help with this. Thank you!

Not sure if this adds insight, but in comparing the differences between the first site I successfully used this theme on, and the second that I am running into problems with… in the theme options in the homepage tab, in the site I am having a hard time with, the Homepage Layout Manager is not showing. Let me know if you have any idea why with might be. Thanks so much for your help!!!

SkatDesign

Hi there,

Activate the theme and before making any changes click the “Reset Options” button and then save. If it still doesn’t work send me a message through my profile page with a test username & pwd and I can set it up for you.

Cheers!

Hi,

I was curious what size the logo needs to be. Many times you just upload the logo and it’s automatically resized to fit. This one didn’t do that so I just need to know the size. THANKS !

Me again. Also, when I upload the logo (I made it smaller and it looks better), part of it is overlapping the menu bar. How can I get it to just sit on top of that menu bar?

Thanks!

Hi there,

Could you please send me your url so I can check it out?

SkatDesign

Hi there,

Try this:

Go to the theme’s folder and edit the file named “header.php”. Just after line 38 (this </title>) add this code:

<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width; initial-scale=1.0; maximum-scale=1.0; user-scalable=0;" />

Save. Done.

I want to put a paragraph or two of copy at the top of each category. There’s a line in WP to fill in category summaries, but that copy isn’t visible anywhere in this theme. Is it possible to change something to make category summaries appear?

If not, is there a way in this theme to add sidebars to categories?

Thanks in advance for your answer.

SkatDesign

Hi there,

I’m not sure I know what “category summaries” are. Could you explain a little bit more? Also, if you could point me to an example it would be great.

Cheers!

Sorry for the confusion. When creating categories in WP, there’s a “category description” box that can be filled out. I’d like to use that to put some static text in a category above the posts in that category. Is there a way in the innoVative theme to make that description text visible?

If not, is there a way in the theme to add a sidebar or some other text block to a category?

Thanks.

SkatDesign

I understand now. Try this:

Go to the theme’s folder and edit the file named “archive.php”. On line 10 you’ll find this line of code:

<h2><span><?php _e('Categorized as:', 'framework'); ?> <?php single_cat_title(); ?></span></h2>

You can simply replace it with this:

<h2><span><?php echo category_description(); ?></span></h2>

or this

<p><?php echo category_description(); ?></p>

Save. Done.

Cheers!

Hi,

We have a couple of questions on the theme:

1. Can we add in YouTube somehow to the social media buttons? We can only see Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+ and Pinterest.

2. We cannot get the slider to work on the homepage of the site when we include a YouTube video ID. We have tried a number of variations and cannot get it to work successfully. Please can you advise how we can get it running like it does on the preview.

Many thanks,

Claire

SkatDesign

Hi there,

1. Yes you can, but you must edit a couple of lines of code and add your youtube icon to the current social icons.

The code for the icons can be found in the “header.php” file between lines 121 and 150. The styling code can be found in the “styles” folder by editing the style-sheet that for the color you’re using (eg. green.css) from line 199 to 262.

The image of the icons can be found in the “images” folder and it is named “subscribe_icons.png”

2. You must enter the youtube id number.

Example:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GgR6dyzkKHI

The id is GgR6dyzkKHI

Hi,

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly.

I will try the YouTube icon shortly.

With the YouTube link that is what we have been trying but the video still won’t load. Any other suggestions?

Many thanks,

Claire

Hi,

Do we need to have an image in the video section for it to work?

Many thanks,

Claire

SkatDesign

Yes, because otherwise the thumbnails of the slider can’t be generated from the video itself.

Hi,

I’m using Simple:Press as a support forum plugin on the site and I’m having some issues… The support from Simple:Press had this to say…

“If JQuery is being loaded from WordPress the main library will have the file name of ‘jquery.js?ver=X.X.X‘ where the X’s refer to the version. For example – WordPress version 3.3.1 loads up ‘jquery.js?ver=1.7.1‘ for the main library and ‘jquery.ui.core.min.js?ver=1.8.16‘ for the UI library.

If – instead of ‘your-domain‘ they are coming from Google or instead of ‘wp-includes‘ they are coming from a different location on your server – such as a plugin – then there is possibly a potential problem.

We would strongly recommend that you contact the theme or plugin author and explain to them what is needed. If a paid-for theme – and experience shows that these can often be effected – then their support should be able to accommodate the request as it is not unreasonable and enables the plugin or theme to be more widely usable.”

I did see that JQuery is being called from <script type=’text/javascript’ src=’http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1/jquery.min.js?ver=3.3.2'></script>

Help!? I’m desperate!

BTW , I Love this theme and will be purchasing for another client shortly! :)

SkatDesign

Hi there,

Let me know if I’m understanding correctly:

You want to remove the ”?ver=X.X.X” from the loading jquery line?

Also, please describe your problem with that plugin.

Cheers!

As far as I understand, when loading jQuery from the Google CDN , the developer has to select a specific version. As WordPress releases updates and supplies the most up to date version of JQuery and other jQuery support libraries, the version a plugin and theme is loading from the Google CDN can get easily and quickly out of date.

If you can take a look I would appreciate it. Let me know and I will email you the login credentials.

Thanks!

SkatDesign

Sorry, but I still don’t understand. You want the latest jQuery version to be always loaded or you want an older version?

Cheers!
