  • IGNORE THIS I’M BEING AN IDIOT *** Forgot to press the UPDATE THEME button (this is my first attempt at Opencart and Themes so still learning!)

Any idea why after upgrading to 1.3 at re-setting the store image dimensions as per install instructions my site looks like this?

Hi, it looks like you haven’t clicked the blue “Update Theme” button found in the Control Panel. The image dimensions requirements have changed, please readjust accordingly. Thanks!

Any reason why on my top slider the left and right arrows are on the outside of the images and on your then hover over the image? Have I not set a dimension correctly somewhere?

DigitalAtelier

Hi, there’s an option in each Journal Slider module to place the arrows either outside or inside. Is that it? Also, please file a ticket here http://journal.digital-atelier.com/support/index.php?a=add we’ll manage support much better there. Thanks.

I love this theme and just before i purchase would like to check if the the theme can be viewed as by desktop view on a mobile device?

DigitalAtelier

Hi, yes, there’s an option in the Control Panel to turn off the responsive layout. We turned it off for the third preview. Check out Journal III on your mobile device, it wil display like on a desktop. Cheers!

Default-user

Thank you for the prompt reply! Sorry i think you misunderstood my query. What i mean is, if i were to turn on the responsive layout, can a user choose to view the site in desktop view on the mobile device?

DigitalAtelier

Hi, sorry. So you’re referring to a button somewhere in the frontend that switches the views. That should be possible but it requires some custom work. It won’t be a simple refresh of the page, there are variables that need to be loaded in the session to account for such change. Is this what you’re asking? Thanks.

Default-user

Yes that is it. So it is not included in the current theme. Is that correct?

DigitalAtelier

That’s correct, this option is not available in the theme right now, it will have to be customized. Thanks.

is available in Spanish?

DigitalAtelier

Hi, you can install any language you want. This is default OpenCart functionality. Coincidentally our Journal III example has the Spanish language installed. Click on the flag icon in the header to activate it. Cheers!

Hello, going to buy, currently testing on your demo.

1. Bugreport Please check and correct ASAP. In latest Opera (Ver.:12.15 Build:1748) top category menu does not work. It’s impossible to use top category menu. Tested on 3 different machines. For example: After mouse above top category, second layer category opens, but when you wish to click on it and move the mouse to it, second layer category disappear (as soon as you reach banner border) and it works as your click on banner. Tested at Layout 2_3

2. Layout question Same Layout 2_3 Looks like YES, but want to confirm: Is it possible to turn the right column (with categories) ON? May be by changing the zoom way or whatsever? I need to switch right column with categories menu to be ON at all products pages.

3. Points question Same Layout 2_3 Looks like YES, but want to confirm: At the product page I can turn ON: points price, points get and tags? From menu or by EASY editing the file…

4. Language/currency flags question Same Layout 2_3 In the header – if I add MANY languages and Currency to the shop, how much icons will fit at one line? If I add more what will happen? It will add second line for icons below or ruine the whole design?

5. Left column layout question You say that you are working on left column layout. Can you tell us about the release time for this or other major difference theme upgrade? Not exact date, but at least say as you can: “next month” or “in summer” or “not in nearest 3 month”? I plan to modify your theme and want to know when I would receive an update that I will need to change everything again… Thank you

DigitalAtelier

Hi ThemeAnd

1. We’re checking on that right now, it’s an Opera bug, works fine on all others, we’ll let you know as soon as we’ve nailed it.

2. Yes, you can have the side column present on all pages.

3. You can have any options available in the OpenCart system, these aren’t theme related. I think this product has all options available.

4. If you have too many language flags you can turn it into a select dropdown. It involves some custom work at this point, but we’re considering implementing this as an option in our upcoming updates.

5. Left column is coming in version 1.4, should be up before the end of the month.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

Thank you.

DigitalAtelier

Hi,

1. Apparently Opera can’t display nested divs within a parent li, if that element is styled as table-cell. It’s not ideal markup, but that’s how the OpenCart default menu is made. We have to use the table-cell styling in order to achieve the flexible menu design we went for. Anyway, we have implemented a fix for this now, please check it out again. Thanks.

Hi, I ‘d like to ask something.

1- I couldnt have time to search about it, but i want to know if my data going to change if i drag and drop (replace) the updated 3 folders? 2- I couldnt find the icons of the top menu (home, wish list, account etc..) I would like to have them on my theme, dunno how to set. 3- E-mail notifications have your footer copyright info, even though i’ve changed by your main theme module + admin/controller/common/footer.php + catalogue/controller/common/footer.php , couldnt find what a setting else to modify this issue. Thanks You!

DigitalAtelier

Hi,
1. Your data won’t change, just drag the 3 folders over replacing any existing Journal files. Make sure you download the latest version.
2.The icons path may need a refresh. They are in image/data/journal/ Just click on the icon field in your Custom Menus tab to refresh the path. 3. Store information is in System/Settings/General and /Store. Also check Control Panel/Footer/Custom Text. There’s no need to modify core files for this, it’s coming in from the admin.

Please file a support ticket so we can have a look at your installation in case you need more assistance.
Thanks.

I was looking through your demos and came across some errors. I used IE9 and Chrome on two different computers with the same results and I just wanted to let you know about it.

The last demo with the beach background – the drop-down menu (and I also think the shopping cart) is shown behind the transparent slider at the top.

And when I reduce the browser to look at the mobile version the shopping cart drop-down does not open right unless you first click on, and open the SHOP accordion. I have not actually tried the mobile version on my phone so this may not actually be an issue.

DigitalAtelier

Hi, thanks for bringing this up. We hadn’t updated that demo to the latest version yet, but did so now. Please visit it again. The url’s changed to http://journal.digital-atelier.com/5_3

The Shopping Cart is intentionally turned into a click on lower resolutions because there’s no hover on mobile devices, so you have to click/tap to open it.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

Cheers!

Default-user

No, I don’t think you understood. When you clicked on the Shopping Cart after adding an item it only showed a small part of it unless you had FIRST clicked to open the SHOP accordion….regardless, the updates you did fixed this too. :)

I am seriously contemplating purchasing this…....is it possible to show the “you have added” message in the middle of the screen instead of the corner? It’s easy to miss the way it is now though I REALLY like that it doesn’t scroll the page up!

And my 2 cents … it would be nice to have border options/colors/hovers available and not just changeable background colors in the admin panel.

DigitalAtelier

Hi, we’ve updated a lot of stuff, so that might’ve been one of the fixes.

Yes, you can place the notification in the middle of the screen, we’ll help you out with that if you need it.

As far as the colors go, have you checked out the Colors tab (and its sub-tabs) from the Journal Control Panel? There’s a button next to each element (?) showing its position in the frontend.

We think this theme has probably the most color options available but if there are any particular elements that we haven’t covered please let us know and we’ll put them in the control panel.

Thanks!

DigitalAtelier

I should also mention the notification message you’d like in the middle of the screen has all its colors editable from the Control Panel General tab, Notification sub-tab.

All these control panel settings (colors, fonts, menus, etc) are saved for each skin individually, and you can of course create and save unlimited custom skins. Cheers!

Default-user

You do have a lot of color choices and I love that you can save each skin individually (that’s a fantastic feature).

Yes, I have checked out the Colors tab in the Journal Control Panel and what I noticed most was that there wasn’t any control for any border colors/widths/hovers etc… especially for grid/list products and the main menu / categories etc… I know I can dig into the css or add to the custom code section but would be really nice if all the color/border options were accessible from the panel. It wouldn’t be a deal breaker though. :)

You are doing a great job and it’s quite the awesome template so far.

DigitalAtelier

Hi, thank you for your input and kind words, we’ll definitely add more color options as they’re actually easy to implement at this point. However, most of what you’re referring is already editable, like the main categories menu. You can edit font color, hover color, background color and border color. That’s for the top menu, the dropdown has its own settings.
Can you be more specific about which element you’d like to see editable? We’d appreciate feedback like this so we can implement it in our next updates. Thanks!

Default-user

Actually only about 3 elements have border color settings in the Control Panel. I think it’s one of those things where I will probably have to do some custom css as I would want full control over all elements that could have border settings that I might want to change…...color, line width, top, bottom, left, right, hover settings etc… I guess it’s the artist/perfectionist in me :)

Not sure if it’s really an issue as again I have not tested it in my phone yet, but in Chrome the reduced mobile version overlaps the prices and discount labels in the list view in what I think would be considered the low resolution screen (narrow). It did it in all the demos I tried.

Can’t wait for the left column category template to come out!

Default-user

One other thing. Is there a way to preview the fonts without having to select each one by one? It would be a BIG time saver. Or maybe I missed it?

DigitalAtelier

Hi,

That kind of border control is outside the scope of this design, I thought you’re referring to existing elements being editable from the admin. Sure, you can change the entire look and achieve anything with custom CSS.

You’re right about list view on the low res phones, that was supposed to switch to grid view on that resolution. We’re going to style the list view as well for our next update, thanks for bringing it to light.

Font previews are not implemented in the control panel directly but you can easily browse all fonts here http://www.google.com/fonts/ You can input you own text, see which one you like, then load it on your site.

Thanks!

Default-user
lisagriff Purchased

Actually that was my meaning—to have all the existing elements have border control settings in the panel and then use custom CSS if there was something else in the design I wanted to change. (it’s not always easy to explain in the right words to get your meaning across to other people) But it’s no big deal either way – especially with the skin saving feature.

I went ahead and purchased this template last night :) but it’s not showing it here that I did.

Hi there, As im working on SEO URLs, may i ask; Is it possible to change of SEO/route of: system>design>layouts and route? its home and i wanna change that to turkish. And i dont know if im going to see: index.php?route=common/home or just home? (or the home in turkish anyway)

Btw: if its possible, i think i may name the home.php to anasayfa.php or something! in my ftp folder.

So maybe i could be able to see the icons of those menus if i recreate of my own.

Thank you,

DigitalAtelier

Hi, I’m not sure about the custom layouts with different languages. This is an OpenCart feature and I think you should consult their documentation.

As far as the icons they are loaded from the Control Panel, you don’t have to do anything in the tpl files. Could you please use our support page for any questions you may have, we streamline our customer service much better that way.

Hi. I’ve got a lil problem with the Background color of the Content. I’d like to input something more than a color code, maybe some rgba opacity or an url background.. Where do i need to look at? I tried editing the background property of the style.css, but it also affects the background of the product grid of the main page ><

DigitalAtelier

Hi, have you tried background images in Control Panel/General/Backgrounds? You can have tileable patters on the main elements like header, content, footer, etc.
As far as background color with opacity goes, I’d save a solid color png with some transparency in it an upload it as a repeating background image in the section I just mentioned.

Please follow through with this or any other assistance you may need on our support page here http://journal.digital-atelier.com/support

Unfortunately, if i prompt a color from Control Panel -> Colors -> General -> Content Background it affects all contents except the homepage product grid (as i want), but doing it via Control Panel -> General -> Background also affects the grid :x

DigitalAtelier

I think you don’t see it on the home page because you have “Extended Module” enabled in General/Layout. If you need to apply styling only to the home page content background, it needs to be done with css to target just that element. However, this is not done in the main css file (style.css). In fact, you should not modify that file as most of it is being overwritten by the Control Panel.
Please file a ticket on our support page and we’ll help you out with this.

Thanks!

Hi DigitalAtelier -

I’m using Opencart and setting up a custom printing site for my family.. I’ve got little experience in web development and it’s taken me about 1 year to get everything working on my test site (test.nwfineartprinting.com). While I know the styling is not the best, I just need to get the site up and get some sales going on it.

In addition, I’d like to set up a second site with our Opencart for our sign and graphics division that doesn’t really sell online products but would have different category pages that provide information on the different types of products we produce on the sign/graphics side of things and then have a request a quote page for customers to fill in information and get a quote from us.

Is there any way I can use your theme on the new site I’d like to set up without it breaking the styling of our first site (test.nwfineartprinting.com)? Basically can your theme support multi stores and work independent of my first store?

Please feel free to email me Matt@nwfineartprinting.com if you need any more information.

Thanks!

Hi.., I’m new here.., I found that the themes layout on computer is exactly the same with the ipad (vertical view) but why its different when we open it on Galaxy tab 7” (vertical view) ?

DigitalAtelier

Hi, it seems the Galaxy 7 has a different resolution. The iPad has 768px in portrait mode so if the Samsung tablet is lower than that it will trigger the next breakpoint, which is 480. We have several breakpoints from 1220 all the way down to 320. They’re based on resolution, not device, so you can resize your browser’s window to see all of them. Thanks.

Default-user

oh you mean resize the browser’s window on galaxy tab? to make it exactly the same as the computer/laptop layout…,

DigitalAtelier

No, I was referring to computer browser window, if you resize it (drag from a bottom corner) you will see all the responsive breakpoints and determine what you see on your particular tablet. We don’t know what resolution a device may have, that’s why we have several breakpoints. Cheers!
