Theme is great, does what it says. I had occasion to deal with their support desk today. Problem fixed within 24 hours. I say problem, it was actually my eyesight lol, but they were perfectly charming in finding the issue and showing me how to resolve.

Hi,

Does the Karma theme support RTL?! If not, how much would it cost to mirror a few pages?!

TrueThemes

Thank you so much for your interest in the Karma theme! :)

Right-to-left text orientation is not currently included in the theme. We’re currently unavailable for custom coding work however if you’re in need of professional coding assistance we’ve got 2 highly trusted partners for all of your Wordpress customization needs. WPQuestions.com and Codeable.io

quick question.. are the sidebars different widths for a reason? the contact sidebar is a different width than the normal sidebar and both are different than the woocommerce sidebar. i am trying to place ads there and they are getting scaled down.

Default-user

sorry i mean blog, woocommerce, and regular sidebar.

Default-user

i made them all the same width with custom css and see no issues.

TrueThemes

Hi There,

Thanks so much for reaching out to us and providing the details. It’s very helpful information.

Some of the sidebars throughout the site have been given custom widths to provide more/less space when it’s best suited and to provide the best aesthetic result for that particular layout.

Here are some more details about the behind-the-scenes code:

- The contact pages are technically not sidebar pages rather they are created using the 2/3 + 1/3 shortcodes. These ‘sidebars’ have a slightly larger width than normal.

- The Blog page has it’s own custom sidebar width as the content area of the Blog page has it’s own unique width (done for best aesthetic result)

- The WooCommerce pages are technically the only true “Sidebar Templates” and have been given a slightly larger width to accommodate more space for items like shopping cart and recent-products-widget, etc.

Hope this information has been helpful.

Cheers :)

Broken Themes

The following themes are installed but incomplete. Themes must have a stylesheet and a template.

Name Description Karma Child Theme The parent theme is missing. Please install the “Karma” parent theme. PLEASE HELP!!! THIS IS FOR A CLIENT.

Default-user

This is also after full purchase of the theme. Please help.

TrueThemes

Sure thing my friend, here are some helpful notes:

1. Child Themes…..Child Themes require that their parent theme be installed in order for proper functioning. In the case of the Karma Child Theme just be sure that normal Karma theme is installed before activating the Child Theme.

2. Karma ‘parent theme’.....Generally if there are errors when trying to install the normal Karma theme it is caused from using the wrong file during installation. The Karma theme file to be used for installation is called “Karma.zip”.

Kindly follow along the video to ensure that the proper file is being used during the installation. Before re-trying the installation we recommend deleting any existing version of Karma from within Wordpress just to ensure a smooth installation: http://vimeopro.com/truethemes/karma-4/video/83635956

I am a user and fan of the original Karma 3.0+ theme and I am looking to update to the 4.0 Version. I have implemented several customizations to the site look through the “Custom CSS” window and I am using a Child theme. Is there any information available on upgrading and possible issues?

TrueThemes

Sure thing my friend.

The good news is that a standard upgrade from Karma 3.x to 4.x is a completely seamless process.

There are however instances that Custom CSS might no longer function as desired in Karma 4.x – there’s no concrete method for pre-dtermining this however reviewing the changelog will help to provide some more insight on this.

Can you kindly give us a general overview of customizations made to the theme via the Custom CSS? We will gladly review and do our best to let you know if we see any red flags.

You can also take a peak at version 4.0 in the Karma Changelog to determine if the Custom CSS will be affected: https://support.truethemes.net/?knowledgebase=karma-changelog

Because i had no answer via email (for another problem that i will expose here to :D), here is my first issue :

- Blog page still shows the whole Utility Panel (+searchbar +beadcrumbs) , even if i check “DISABLE” .

(Desactivating the Utility Panel on other pages works fine. It didn’t work, only on the Blog Page)

How can i get throught this ?

Regards

TrueThemes

Sure thing my friend.

The Blog page functions a bit differently than normal page templates so the standard ‘disable feature’ does not work same as normal pages.

The simplest method for disabling the Utility Panel on Blog page is via a small bit of Custom CSS Code. Please add the following code to Karma’s Site Options Panel located in the Wordpress Dashboard here: Appearance > Site Options > General: Custom CSS

body.blog .tools {
display: none;
}

We hope this information is helpful. For any additional support kindly use the links below to access our secure TrueThemes HelpDesk.

Hi there,

I’m wondering how can modify the alignment of the contents inside a image frame ?

I currently am displaying images in image frames on my clients site: http://prodjsaustralia.com.au/prodjsau/

The images by default are center aligning, he has requested that the images are aligned to the top of the frame rather then be center aligned.

He simply wants the name and profile picture of the image to be seen in the image frame, if you open the site you will understand what I mean.

Any assistance would be appreciated !

TrueThemes

Yes sure thing my friend.

The simplest method is to download and install this free plugin from the Wordpress Repository: http://wordpress.org/plugins/crop-from-top/

This plugin will modify Wordpress to crop images from top-left corner.

Just tested and works great.

Cheers :)

Default-user

Thats excellent, confirmed working.. I dont mean to sound fussy, although are there any different methods I can do JUST for these image frames ?

TrueThemes

Not a fuss at all :)

Apologies but there’s not currently a method for defining unique image cropping points on individual sets of image frames.

This can however be ‘faked’ by pre-cropping the images that will be used within the image frames. It would require creating these 6 images but it would give fine-grain control over the location of everything.

Image dimensions for that size frame is: 437×234

Cheers :)

Default-user

Wow, The most simplest solution..

Why didn’t I think of that ?!

Thank you very much for your help, Sorry for my ignorance.

Can the blog page have a slider added to it? If so how? I ask because I followed the instructions for the revolution slider to add it to the page but it did not show up.

Thanks, Ashley

P.S. I love this theme.

Hey Ashley,

The blog page within a theme works quite a bit differently than normal page template. Unfortunately this is the only page that cannot contain a slider.

I just upgraded to Woocommerce 2.1.3 and now my site layout is a hot mess! Is this a known issue?

TrueThemes

Hi Vivid,

Thank you so much for reaching out to us.

Times in the past this has occurred from the use of a ‘caching plugin’ such as Better Wordpress Minify.

WooCommerce 2.1.x got a major coding overhaul and much of the scripting has changed. A caching plugin is still caching the old versions of WooCommerce scripts which is causing the error.

To resolve simply ‘clear the cache’ on the caching plugin so that the updated scripts will be loaded in and will resolve the issue. (clearing the cache is a good practice anytime a theme or plugin has been updated).

The “green callout” near the top of this article outlined instructions for clearing the cache of Better Wordpress Minify plugin: https://support.truethemes.net/?faq=how-to-upgrade-a-wordpress-theme-to-the-latest-version

Hope these details are helpful. Please let us know if issue has resolved.

Cheers :)

Default-user

I don’t have a caching plugin installed. I reverted to the backup and will be setting up a test server so I can troubleshoot the problem.

TrueThemes

Ok sounds great, yes please keep us posted.

We’re running WooCommerce 2.1.3 locally and the website is functioning nicely so curious to learn of the culprit.

Here are a few other items that are always worth a shot during the debugging process:
  • Clear the web browsers cache, and/or download history
  • Restart the computer
  • Disable any 3rd-party plugins (if any) and turn back on one-by-one to see if woo conflict

Cheers :)

Hi, I want ask for a pre-purchase question. Do I have to import the all Demo so it will be lots of pages. Because some pages are not suitable for my business, do I have to delete some to customize as what I want for my website? Thank you.

TrueThemes

Hi There,

Thank you so much for your interest in the Karma theme.

The Demo Content includes all of the page layouts which are displayed on the live demo site. We’ve linked to all media externally so your Wordpress Media Library will remain squeaky clean.

The demo content technically never needs to be imported however most users prefer to import the content as it provides an easy starting point for building out the rest of the website. Any and all pages can be deleted after the demo content import.

Please feel free to check out the “Install Karma + Demo Content” video on this page which displays the setup process: http://vimeopro.com/truethemes/karma-4

Please let us know if anything else we can do to assist.

Thank You :)

Hi. I have a pre-sales question. Is it possible to add text to the right side of the secondary menu, i.e. where you currently have the social icons?

I’d like to add some sort of ‘Subscribe to our newsletter’ link at the top of the page. Is this possible?

Also, how editable are the colours and fonts in this secondary menu? Many thanks, David

TrueThemes

Hi David,

Thank you so much for your interest in the Karma theme! :)

(1) Is this referring to the Side Nav + Sidebar page template?: http://themes.truethemes.net/Karma-4.0/pages/left-nav-sidebar/

If so yes, the sidebar in the above link comes “empty’ and the content is populated by drag-and-drop wordpress widgets.

(2)All color schemes within Karma can be mixed-and-matched. So for example one could have a “blue” header and footer with a “red” side navigation indicator.

A fully custom color scheme can also be created using Karma’s point-and-click admin interface. A custom side navigation color does however require that images be created and uploaded via the admin. An image template is provided in the download package.

Please let us know if there’s anything else we can do to help.

Cheers :)

Hello, I’m working to set up my website with your theme and I’ve already done a lot of customizations via CSS/JS and child theme. Thanks to the support (and the good theme code) I was able to get all what I wanted until now. Unlucky, I have realized there are some things I would like that are not so easy to do, so I would like to kindly ask you to keep in mind the following request as “feature request” for the near future:

1) Please, if possible, try to add a “true square” frame, similar to the ones you have done for the “portrait” size. If you keep the same width dimension (this means making a square_full 612×612 px and a square_mid 275×275 px) this would fit nicely in the theme, and it would not result so demanding to do. I know that there is already a quasi-square small one (190×180 px) but it is too small. Currently I’m working with CSS to make such kind of square frames borrowing the code from the responsive-mode frames (the modern frames displayed without the shadow), but a “native” full featured implementation in the theme would be great.

2) Please, don’t forget the “sticky” header feature addition you mentioned to me some weeks ago in my pre-purchase question :)

Sorry for bothering you, I like the theme and I like to highlight that all the TrueThemes team is really amazing.

Ciao. Andrea :)

TrueThemes

Hey Andrea!

Absolutely no bother at all.

Thank you so very much for your feedback. It’s absolutely perfect!

- The fixed header is a definite feature coming soon.

- We’ve also started laying some ground work for fully CSS-based image frames. Browser support is still an issue with the necessary advanced CSS techniques however one day we are shooting for “you choose the dimensions” ability.

We’re excited to continue working with you!

Cheers :)

Default-user

Hello, many thanks for the answer, I’m happy to know we will get the sticky header soon… :)

In the meantime you manage the CSS frame addition, could we hope for a standard fixed 612×612 and 275×275 implementation?

Thanks again :)

TrueThemes

Hey Andrea,

Yes the 275×275 looks like a very possible addition to next release. This size would work great as it would already fit within the “3 column image frames”.

We try to keep the frames fitting nicely within the existing grid as many users will like to stack them side-by-side. It’s also a balancing act of adding new frames and also keeping file-sizes down and for fast site rendering.

thank you :)

This has been an issue for a while now and we’ve just dealt with it by manually re-sizing and cropping images in Photoshop so they will not be “cut off” in the Image Frames. But I don’t think it’s suppose to be this way.

OK, I’ll try to explain in detail our issue:

When adding a “Featured Image” in Blog Posts, the images are being “Cropped” to fit the “Image Frame”.

For example:

Notice the original image set for the Featured Image is 800×661px, but after Updating the post, the image is “Cropped” to 538×218px.

The “Settings>Media Settings” are set as follows:

  • Thumbnail size: Width: 150 Height: 150
  • Crop thumbnail to exact dimensions (normally thumbnails are proportional)
  • Medium size: Max Width: 300 Max Height: 200
  • Large size: Max Width: 1024 Max Height: 1024

Related Site Options Settings are as follows:

  • NO Custom CSS
  • TimThumb Image Re-sizing is ACTIVE

There are no image related Plugins either that would be causing this to happen.

Here is another example URL not related to the Blog Posts: http://www.lynchaluminum.com/new/new-products-2/kwikflip/

So basically, how can we get our images to auto re-size AND crop (if needed) to the PROPER dimensions that keep the image in its proper perspective and still fit within the Image Frames?

Also, we have our site set to the “Responsive Design” Box is NOT checked). Also, we have NOT activated Karma 4.0.

The reason why we never “Activated” Karma 4.0 is because most of our pages are using the Page Templates, which are not included in Karma 4.0 (Users upgrading from older versions of Karma should not check this box. You will need the old page templates and settings for proper functioning of your website.)

If this is the reason why our images are not showing properly, is there a way to Activate Karma 4.0, and use the Page Templates that we originally used for the majority of our website without having to go to every page that is effected by Activation Karma 4.0?

Please also note that we tried out Karma 4.0 after updating to the latest theme’s update, but had to disable Karma 4.0 in Site Options due to the majority of our website was designed with the page templates that are no longer included in Karma 4.0, and it basically “Messed Up” our site.

P.S. I’ve already submitted a support ticket but am still waiting on a response, so I’m posting here also in hopes of a faster response to resolve this issue.

PeoriaGraphics

Just got a reply in the ticket…

That’s cool with me. I have no problems cropping since I’m always in Photoshop and Illustrator anyways…lol.

Thanks again for the help! :-)

REPLY FROM SUPPORT TICKET:

Any time a large image is added to a placeholder such as the Post Featured Image or Image Frame Shortcode, that image will be cropped by the image script (TimThumb) so that it fits within the Frame it was added to. In order words, if the image is larger than the placeholder, it must be cropped, otherwise it will render extremely distorted/pixelated if it was just resized.

The only workaround is “pre-cropping” the images that will be used within the placeholder before uploading them as you have done in the past.

You may find a full list of the image dimensions here: https://support.truethemes.net/?knowledgebase=full-list-of-image-dimensions-for-image-frame-shortcodes
