The developer of the Karma theme I’m looking at is shown as 5-squared, but their site is gone and I can’t find any contact info for them. ???

My question is that I need a php forum as part of my site redesign and I can’t find any info it this is possible. Not only do I want the forum, but I want to maintain the “look and feel” of the rest of the site, including showing the same menu. If you look at my current site – omhoa.ca and select the forum, you will see the menu along the top. I haven’t modified the CSS yet to have the same “look and feel”. I had built a site before and, although it took a very long time, I managed to modify the CSS to look exactly like the rest of the site, including a three level dropdown menu.

I’ve put the funds on deposit to buy the theme, but I want to be certain I can add the php forum before I buy it.

Appreciate any help you can offer. Also, seeing as how the developer has disappeared, is there still going to be support for this theme?

Thanks.

Gary

Hey Gary,

Thanks so much for your interest in the Karma theme.

First just a quick note about 5-Squared and TrueThemes. 5-Squared has grown into TrueThemes. We’re now a multi-member web design team spanned across the globe. Same great products, same amazing customer support, just a whole lot more talent and skill in the mix. :) ( Our Secure Theme Support HelpDesk is located here: https://support.truethemes.net )

As per adding a Forum to the Karma theme, this is definitely possible. There are quite a few 3rd-party plugins that enable you to add a full-fledged Forum to your Wordpress site. Please just note however that Karma is not a Forum theme specifically, so there may be CSS /code modifications needed in order full seamless theme integration.

A Google search for “Wordpress Forum Plugin” should help you get the ball rolling on deciding the best option for your needs. Some of the Popular Forum packages are: BB Press, Simple Press, Vanilla Forums.

Please let us know if there’s anything else we can do to help.

Cheers :)

regarding a page title, I enabled your SEO module and put a page title when created a page in provided SEO module on page field, however it does not appear as a title when browsing. It still displays name of the page followed by << and then the full home page title. Any advise on how to display only the page title that I put in the SEO module for a particular page created? Thanks. PS: In the SEO settings I didn’t specify any format for page titles as I would like to set it up manually when I create pages.

Sorry, one more thing before I go ahead and buy it. I read about a powerful forms generator, but I only see some text about contact forms. I am presently using a forms hosting site which is costing me money every month. I need to create some pretty extensive forms, such as a membership form, sponsor form and partner form. Can I do this and dump the hosting of my forms? Thanks.

TrueThemes

Hey my friend,

No worries at all for the additional questions.

Is it possible for you to please send us a link to one of the forms so we can check it out and confirm that the same functionality is possible? ( you can shoot us an email with the link if you prefer not to list it publicly. email: info [at] truethemes.net )

Also another great option is the GravityForms Plugin for Wordpress. Karma is fully optimized and compatible with this plugin. You can create very advanced forms which will most definitely be able to replace your current forms provider. http://www.gravityforms.com

Just got laid off so I’m back on the project. Sorry, but it looks like I never answered you. My site is OMHOA.CA and I am looking at both the forum, which has taken a lot of work to get the “look and feel”, plus the membership form. I have put the money on deposit quite a while ago and I am looking at a redo of the site using your template.

TrueThemes

Hi There,

Thanks so much for sending over the link to your website.

Since the membership form is pretty extensive we recommend for you to use the powerful Gravity Forms Plugin to re-create this form in Wordpress. You can learn more about the plugin on their website: http://www.gravityforms.com

As per the Forum, we recommend to use http://vanillaforums.org/ for your website form. This will be the most plugin-and-play solution and will not require any modification to the default Karma theme.

Please give us a shout if there is anything else we can do to help.

Hi, prepurchase q. Was having trouble signing in so I emailed you too.

One, is it easy to flatten out the design? For one client, I need a flat design. I know I can rebuild but well…been looking at Aphrodite also.

Paginated AND filterable portfolio page on either Sterling or Karma?

I have two clients with heavy portfolios ( one has 100 items with a mix of images and video, the other about 60 linked videos. I worry about page load time but need an All page. Looking at Gamma for that one but honestly like your themes more…what sayest thou?

TrueThemes

Hi There,

Thanks so much for your interest in Karma.

As per your questions, we’re slightly confused by “flat design”. Can you kindly provide more details about what you’re looking for?

As per Karma/Sterling Portfolio pages, Karma has the ability for pagination but does not have filtering. Sterling has both filtering and Pagination.

Please feel free to give us a shout if there’s any further questions at all.

Cheers :)

KateCM

I don’t think Sterling has filtering and pagination on the same page template. Does it?

By Flat, I mean not 3D. Elements without shadows. All the same benefits but no 3D. I know, you built a 3D theme and some clients like that but some don’t. I’d like to use the same basic theme but have design options to have flat elements. Sterling is more flat but not as flexible.

TrueThemes

Hey There,

Thanks so much for the additional info.

Yes Sterling has the ability for pagination and filtering on the same template. Karma has ability for pagination but no filtering.

As per removing 3d/shadows etc from Karma this is indeed possible however not built into the theme by default. You’ll just need to specify your own CSS code within the built-in “Custom CSS ” section to remove any elements you’d like. For example, you can modify the image frame’s CSS code by ridding the background image and specifying only a flat single background color.

Please let us know if there’s anything else we can do to help.

Cheers my friend :)

Hi There,

bought your theme-great work! I´m a newbie on wordpress, so I have a couple of questions:

How to add/ delete pictures to the homepage jquery slider? How to edit text there and is it possible to insert an internal link to another site?

Can´t find answers in your FAQ – thank you so much for your support.

Hi there, Is it possible to add mp3 track player to Karma Theme on homepage?

Thank you

TrueThemes

Hi my friend,

Thanks so much for your interest in Karma.

An MP3 player is not built into the theme however you can very likely achieve this with a 3rd-party Wordpress Plugin. We’ve not used mp3 plugins in the past however doing a google search for “best wordpress mp3 plugin” should help you on your search.

Please let us know if there’s anything else we can do to help.

Hi. Is this in line for any sort of upgrade to include responsiveness? Thank you!!

TrueThemes

Hi my friend.

There is not an upgrade package at this time however we’ve got amazing plans for the future of Karma. Some very awesome things to come.

Hey there, great looking theme. Before I purchase it, can you tell me if there is a way to enlarge the size of the “slider” ?

Also can I choose to have a full width and height image in the slider, instead of having the text box and image?

Or will these require custom coding?

Thnks in advance

TrueThemes

Hi my friend,

Thanks so much for your Karma interest.

The slider has a set height but you can indeed add slides (images) that take up the full width of the slider.

Please let us know if there’s anything else we can do to help.

Hi. Well I think I’m about to purchase your theme after lots of looking and reading your comments (sounds like your guys are great, just like the look of your theme, which is wonderful).

But I have a few questions:

—someone said they couldn’t embed youtube videos and you pointed them to the support forum. Can you tell me, without coding knowledge as I have none, am I going to be able to easily embed youtube videos throughout the site including the home page if desired?

-photos in frames-I have zero photoshop or re-sizing of photos knowledge. I take pictures and then want to embed them by upload. Normal pictures. Am I going to have problems and need coding knowledge to do this?

—installation of demo content. I’ve created a few sites and never used demo content. Sounds like this would make it easier but when I’ve tried, I had problems (other themes) because lots of garbage I had to delete, seemed unruly. Is it difficult to install your demo content and then will I have lots of stuff to delete? I want the look pretty much identical to what you have on your demo content…

Thank you!! I hope to make this into a fantastic site!!

Tina

TrueThemes

Hi my friend,

Thank you so much for your interest in Karma.

Here is some information regarding your questions:

1. Embedding YouTube videos is built into the theme. You can easily add them to the homepage slider and gallery/portfolio pages. You can also easily embed them anywhere else throughout the site using an [embed] shortcode. There is no coding knowledge necessary for this function.

2. Karma has a powerful image re-sizing script already built-in. You will not need to re-size any images before uploading – Karma will handle it for you :)

3. We agree. Many themes come with heaps of unnecessary demo content which you end up just having to delete – not Karma. Karma comes with a set of “basic demo content” which gives you the basic page templates, etc and acts as a perfect starting point for every website.

I hope this information is helpful for you. Please let us know if there’s anything else we can do to help.

Can someone tell me how to replace the Main Menu font, with a specific font not listed in under the ‘Site Options’ -> ‘Advanced Options’ -> ‘Font Face – Main Menu’ ?

fyi – I have the Cufon plugin installed, and I am able to change the H1 H2 H3 H4 etc. but I dont know how to apply this to the Main Menu

thanks in advance

Please disregard my previous message, I figured out how to change it.

For anyone else trying to get this to work, #header houses the main menu

I spoke too soon, replacing the #header with Cufon worked, however it screwed up the layout of the jquery 2 slider

any help would be appreciated.

thanks

Hello,

A couple questions about your theme.

1. Are we able to change the background color of the slider? 2. I noticed that the background design of the header is slightly different then the footer. Are these interchangeable by chance?

Thanks for your time.

TrueThemes

Hi there,

Both changes you’ve mentioned can be made via CSS code. You’ll simply need to enter the proper CSS code into the “Custom CSS ” section of the Site Options Panel.

Here’s an article on our KnowledgeBase outlining our recommended method of making CSS changes to the theme:
