Hi we sell a DVD product that is also available as a download. Is there a way to have an option after clicking to “view the product” to have the option to choose the Downloadable version or the Hard Copy?

Regarding your reply to WollyHood 11 days ago and the potential cessation of support for WPeC version of the template. I get the impression that this is likely to happen and I’d rather sort the problem out now and be open with my client rather than this cropping up in a year or two. I’ve not populated my dev site with products yet but I have done considerable css customisations in a v2.1.4 child theme.

Is it going to be straightforward applying these custom styles to the WooCommerce theme version? If it’s an involved procedure, is this something you can support us with achieving?

I purchased and am working on Kauri Theme. I’m building a multilingual site with WP multisite. I imported the english site into my foreign language site. In the english site the layout is in 2 columns. In the foreign language site it is 3 columns with overlap. Since the pages on the foreign language site have 3 columns, the product photos are overlapped. I looked at the Woocommerce settings and the theme options, however, I don’t know where I can change the layout in the foreign language site to 2 columns I would like the foreign language site to be the same appearance as the english site. Would you please advise? Thank you.

Hi, Try to turn off the WooCommerce CSS (in WooCommerce > Settings > General tab). I turned on WooCommerce CSS, and it happened just this what you described …

An issue came up after updating to WooCommerce 2.0.8 and Kauri 2.1.4. The Product Variation is not working on frontend. I can add variations in backend, but they are not being applied on frontend. It was working before I updated. Best

About your first issue – WooCommerce made some slight changes to variations to latest version, but we followed that changes … on our tests variations are working properly… As for the second question – perhaps you should check your permalinks and slugs …

Thank you for offering your help. I’ve tried several things to fix the issue without success, and another issue came up that the List Style in the editor shortcode didn’t behave correctly. So I decided to reinstall everything and start over. I’m in a process of rebuilding my site. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Kauri uses WP’s built in search, so there is no input code in theme where you can add “Search products” in search input. But, you can do this – in Notepad++ (or your other preffered editor) open new file and copy this code:

    <input type="search" value="" name="s" id="s" placeholder="Search products" />
    <input type="submit" id="searchsubmit" value="Search" />

and save as searchform.php. Then, in header.php, find this code:

I am using Banners in the featured image part but I do not want the banner to be used as the main image, is this possible? Hi,

no, the featured slider is set to display featured products, and there is no way to filter out single product. But you can change the date on product (put older date) and the product will not appear in latest products, only in featured. If you unset product as featured (little star in the featured products list) the product will appear only in latest …

For a blog page, can we have blog posts automatically populate that page, or do we have to set a menu item that pulls in a specific blog category and assign every post to that category? I’d prefer the former method then the client doesn’t have to worry about assigning to that category?

I’m afraid the latter method would be the right one. Whatever the category is assigned to menu, the link will open category archive page dynamically (posts filtered with selected category).

You don’t have to change anything in Reading settings. Just leave the default – “Front page displays” set “Your latest posts”. The blog page will be generated dynamically when someone clicks on posts category in the menu.

The index.php, which is usually used for “your latest posts”, in Kauri is adapted to display front page, so you have the theme as in demo “out of the box”.

My checkout page has no purchase button! Do i need to set up mijireh checkout? I was just using Paypal for my payment gateway. Customer can fill in billing information but there is no button to continue.

Thinking about purchasing your theme, I care more about the mobile version of the theme which I tested and it looked great and seems to be fully responsive

Still one question: Is it possible to fix the navigation drop down menu while browsing in a mobile device, so that the menu floats always on top or the bottom of the browser but never get hidden to avoid confusing the user? Thanks and hope to hear from you soon.

Hi,

off course, that is doable, but it would require some css code adaptations. Fortunately ( ;) ) the theme has Custom CSS input in Theme options so, if you are familiar with css, you can adapt the theme css. However, I believe that some mobile devices have issues with displaying css property “position:fixed” (that would be the code for making page element constantly displayed on the page …)

Question – in the instructions, you note NOT to upgrade WP-Ecommerce. Can you explain why, or am I reading that incorrectly. Reason is, I am experiencing trouble when the system calculates shipping for the viewer… it lets you enter a destination zip, but dead ends there.

It is my thought that an update would take care of my issue.

Hi,

The documentation instructed to – NOT update (upgrade) THEME files. You can update WP e-Commerce plugin, but, if the plugin ask if you want to update theme files, don’t do it, because you will overwrite theme files (theme is using WP e-Commerce template files).

So, update plugin – yes, update theme files after plugin update (or activation) – no.

BTW, we are currently testing plugin version 3.8.10 (latest) and so far, no issues … You can use v. 3.8.9.5

I have question related to the translations. I translated quite all the theme in french. Everything is going well except for my Contact page (i use the COntact template page). It seems that the labels, buttons, error messages of this template are not “translatables” in the /languages/kauri.po (fr_FR) file. Where can I found the good files to translate ?

I love this theme and interested in getting it but I have a few pre-sale questions:

1 – is it possible to create a product range i.e bathing salt (as you have on the demo) and then create a sub category for it, like lavender, so that when you click on the link to the bathing salt page, it would then show a list of sub-categoriess and lavender would be one of those listed?

2. can you move the search bar somewhere else easily?

3. What’s the way to make the ‘view details’ and ‘Add to cart’ buttons smaller on the products themselves? they seem really big. How is it done?

4. Can you make other images (say 3) show underneath the main product one so that people can choose different views?

5. You have only images for showing recent images in sidebar. Which plugin that works well with your theme, will show the name of the product too and image?

6. When I click on another tab on the menu bar, it reloads the new page but it seems t do so a little awkwardly with the contact tab almost moving underneath the home tab. It goes back to normal, but looks a little unflush.

Hi, thanks for your interest in Kauri:
  1. You can use product categories view in WooCommerce (or WP e-Commerce) plugin settings
  2. Not that easily (re-coding would be required), but we can give you directions on how can you do it (using child theme)
  3. They are big on purpose ( ;) ), but you can make it smaller with Theme options (Custom CSS input field)
  4. You can add as many product images as you want in product gallery
  5. There are really a great number of plugins that can do that, please browse through plugins repository
  6. The menu is actually created not to have too many items … in pages menu, the “contact” item is briefly showed in second row but that is corrected with some javascript. It can be improved and we’ll check that out…

1. How easy is it to change the page content background? I know you can change the outer background (the floral bit), but what about the background the text sits on?

2. On the carousel slider there are three boxes. Is it possible to change the box in the middle from that green to something else?

  1. You can change that with Custom CSS in Theme options (inpect the element to see the id or class and add your own properties to that element in Custom CSS)
  2. Only if you replace that background image with your own, or, again, use Custom CSS and change it via theme options

I’m still in the choosing mode and I always keep coming back to your theme – I love it! Because of this, I have a few more questions (sorry):

1. Can you add a customer review option on each product page and an add to wish list option?

2. I see the option for my account but it only has login. Is there an option to have someone register before they buy? (I searched through comments and noticed on someone’s site that it had this, but can see in the demo). I’m looking for to options on the my account page login or register

3. Can customers switch between currencies – so buttons at the top with £ € $ for example?

4. I want to be able to offer a vouchers page/section (similar to Opencart functionality and an affiliate option. Is that something I can do with Kauri?

5. How would I set up a child theme so that when you have updates, I won’t lose anything or can revert/update child?

6. Is there somewhere to show the payment option buttons – like PayPal, world pay, MasterCard for example?aybe in footer or side bar

Hi,

most of your questions actually address the plugin, not the theme. We will give answers for WooCommerce plugin compatible theme version as we are planning to remove WP e-Commerce plugin compatibility.
  1. Customer reviews are standard feature of plugin. For add to wishlist option there is a free WooCommerce extension called YITH WooCommerce Wishlist
  2. “My account” has register option which can be switched on in WooCommerce settings
  3. WooCommerce by default doesn’t support multi-currency There are plugin extensions that are (presumably) capable for that -http://dev.pathtoenlightenment.net/shop/currency-switcher-woocommerce/ and WPML WooCommerce multilingual (WPML is premium plugin for multilingual sites)
  4. This is also a matter of plugin and it’s extensions – you can check some of them here:http://woo-com.com/product-category/category/affiliates/
  5. We included starer child theme in Kauri’s download package
  6. WooCommerce has different payment options and they are displayed in Checkout page. If you want to display payment options throughout the site you can use, you can display them in widget – http://wordpress.org/plugins/woocommerce-accepted-payment-methods/

To change the background in Theme options > Styling options > THEME SKINS OVERRIDES you need to check “Customize background image” (and/or “Customize background color”). And – theme folder “options” (and all the files inside) need to have 755 permissions to save the css style changes.

I have two other problems : _I can’t translate some words in french like in contac form, product form, shopping cart, chekout form. I translate all the words with poedit but there is still some words in english. _The design of blog post by categories is the kauri design and not mine.

That shouldn’t be buggy … The cart template file is in Kauri, and I just tested it – it translates … But, you can do this – open cart.php in Kauri’s folder “woocommerce/cart”, and replace all the “kauri” strings in file with “woocommerce” (Find and replace). That really should get default woocommerce french translation.

I’ve searched WooCommerce french language file (woocommerce-fr_FR.po) and I confirm – I cannot find:
  • total shipping
  • item
  • confirm payment
The others (price, quantity,order total) can be found in translation files but for, to me, unknown reason it’s not translated in the front end …

All these words and phrases, except for “Quantity”, are generated in plugin, not theme. To confirm that this is probably plugin issue, please, change theme to deafult Twenty Twelve theme and check these words … You’ll probably see that same words are not translated. If so, please contact WooCommerce support or their forums.

No, unfortunately WooCommerce and WP e-Commerce doesn’t have multi-vendor feature. WP e-Commerce seems to be capable for that only with additional Multi Vendors plugin

Hello I have purchased your theme but cannot see any blocks in the Homepage Layout Manager. I can see only margins but no blocks to move around. Plus when viewing the homepage my log file says…”PHP Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in …/wp-content/themes/kauri_wpsc.2.1.4/index.php on line 16”. Please advise

Well I solved it myself. For anyone having similar issues; here’s what I did. Disabled the theme, deleted of_options row from wp_options table, installed the theme again. Obviously the options stored automatically on initial install were corrupt.

I’m glad you figured it out, because, that’s what I would suggest, that is, I would suggest to reset theme options by clicking on “Reset options” – the result would be the same. I don’t think the Kauri theme options were corrupt – this happens because lots of themes are using same Theme options framework and you probably had installed some other theme, am I right ? :)
