Are there shortcodes or an option to display two to three blog posts on the home page?

ThemeBeans

Hey @halfstring – yup there’s a lot of shortcodes (via our Bean Shortcodes Plugin) – http://demo.themebeans.com/krative/bean-shortcodes-plugin/

As for blog posts on the home page, we also have a custom widget that displays them. I added it to the alternate home widget mix here – http://demo.themebeans.com/krative/home-alt-1

Hi, great theme but just one question, how to create a blog page please ? i have download your xml file but the blog page is empty of any post. ?! thanks for your help please.

ThemeBeans

Hey Sylvain! You need to set up your Posts page, via the Theme Customizer, Page settings (screenshot: http://thmbns.co/Rlm0). There’s more details in the theme doc at this section.

Probably a dumb question, but how can I link the portfolio to the main menu? I have added portfolio items, but www.mysite.com/portfolio does not show anything, but going to www.mystie.com/portfolio/item1 is no problem.

I’ve tried creating a page called ‘work’ and going into Customize > Portfolio > Portfolio Page > selecting ‘work’ with no avail.

ThemeBeans

Hey Brendan!

The only dumb question is the one you don’t ask!

The default post type slug is reserved for the index archive of the type, which means basically that ”/portfolio” can’t be used here – but anything else will work fine. Try changing your url slug there from “portfolio” and you should be all set.

If not, do you mind contacting us at our Bean Support Center and I’ll get the team on it.

Nice theme :-) Is there a way to have a homepage layout with three columns showing latest posts from different categories? Maybe by using one of the widgets? Thanks, Bernhard

ThemeBeans

I would say there’s a good bit of customization flexibility in general – just by having the multitude of built in widgets that could be placed in any fashion.

Again I think you’re confusing the Text widget with the Home Intro Widget, these are very different as the Intro widget is a custom widget we built ourselves – and the Text widget is a default widget.

You could massage the Text widget’s output via this CSS snippet below, which would center it (if that’s what your asking).

.section .textwidget { width: 100%; max-width: 1060px; margin: 0 auto; padding: 0 30px; }

Here’s a screenshot of the Text Widget in use, with columns & a button to demonstrate the shortcodes in use (screenshot: http://thmbns.co/S0U6).

Hope this clears things up.

Thank you. Yes, the home page is already very flexible and I think your approach to have several widget areas and several special widgets here is far better than other themes methods. I will try with the centered text widget as the screenshot is very close to what I had in mind. Great support! 5 stars for sure :-)

ThemeBeans

Thanks Hiegl! That CSS there should do the trick :)

Hi there, I bought one of your Themes already and I’m thinking to purchase this one also, there is something I would like to know though, can this “filter” system on the portfolio be disable? For my purposes I don’t need that anyone filter the gallery.

Thank you in advance! Theme looks very nice.

ThemeBeans

Awesome & thanks for that!

Yup, there’s different templates for a filterable portfolio & non filterable – so you can have either one – or both :)

Beautiful theme. I just have one question (sorry if its obvious):

In the live preview, how did you include the widgets (instagram stream, newsletter signup, etc.) in your side-menu? I downloaded the plugins, but am not sure how to include them in the menu area…

ThemeBeans

That’s a bit odd then, send a message with your URL and login credentials through our Bean Support Centerand I’ll log in and see what’s goin on. :)

Rich

Problem solved! This was an error in my own code—not the theme itself.

The theme works perfectly, and Beans’ support is utterly on point. Thanks guys!

Is there a feature to have a custom sidebar i.e. widget area for one individual page? I can select having a sidebar in the page screen but is this always the main sidebar?

Thanks, Bernhard

Hello! Love your themes they are amazing!!

I am a total beginner at creating websites, I have never done it before and haven’t studied web design. I just wonder how easy this theme is to customize and build? keeping in mind I am a newbie.

Thanks

ThemeBeans

Hey Wamer2000, it’s not too tough. We build our themes to focus on usability. As long as you can install WordPress, then the rest is cake. You can test the built in customizer link for Krative with the “Customizer” link up top (screenshot: http://thmbns.co/S0rE) – to get a grasp of what you can do without any code at all.

Hi Rich :-) I’m about to buy the theme and I have one more question:

It is possible to deactivate this “zoom” effect on the portfolio thumbnails? Are there other effects available?

Also, I was checking the the son my iPhone and on the “single post” view of the portfolio the extra information. “Date” remains right next to the text and the rest rearrange self below the text… This happened just I. Landscape view.

Hope to hear from you soon!

ThemeBeans

Hey aGoosman, sure any question you have I’ll take :)

It’s not an option per-say, but I did leave that transition code near the top of the style.css stylesheet, so it’s easily modified (screenshot: http://thmbns.co/S0Kd). You’re right about the portfolio entry look. Just uploaded an update to touch that up – Thanks!

Rich

Default-user

Awesome, I already bought it and downloaded. Should I downloaded again because of that “touch up” on the code?

Hey, and there are other options in this webkit other than “scale”?

ThemeBeans

Awesome! If you have Version 1.2.1, then you’re good to go. If it’s less than that, I would recommend a re-download (in your TF Downloads tab) to catch the latest version.

There’s only the scale currently, but if you know your way around CSS a bit then there’s a lot of resources available online to extend it furthermore – which is why I put all the hover classes up top, to make it even easier. :)

Hi again Rich,

This is really such a great theme and im having such a great time working on it. I’m also almost done with the development of my site, but am just experiencing one error. I have created my blog page as “Articles” and was just putting in posts but I noticed this error on the post comment. Please scroll down and have a look at the comments.

Thanks

ThemeBeans

Hey – first off, what you’ve done so far is pretty amazing, lovin’ it. :)

It looks like you’re using an older version (there was a fixed pushed for this bug specifically – only certain users were experiencing it – in the latest update. If you download the latest version, then look at the theme-functions file, line 228, that replaces the old .

If you nee help/further guidance, feel free to grab us at the Bean Support Center.

That did it!! Thank you so much. And once again your support response time is phenomenal. That for me gives you the edge above the rest of the theme developers. Thanks

If you’re liking the theme, do you mind rating the theme through your User Downloads page here on ThemeForest (if you haven’t already). It helps out loads and we’ll be very grateful. :)

Hey guys!

Love the theme and your. So clean and fresh and I’m in love with them!

Just some questions before I buy:

- Do you include the PSD with this theme at all? If so, what files do you include and can I customize the design any way I would like?

- How can I disable the zoom effect from the portfolio thumbnails?

- On portfolio single page, is it possible to have a vertical layout, with text at the top and full width images below (not slideshow)?

- Can I add right side bar on portfolio page?

- Can I customize right side bar to show my own images and text etc?

- I’m trying to view 2 column portfolio, but doesn’t seem to be showing, also the demo customizer (FF Mac)? Only the 3 column showing.

- Just to confirm, there is no pricing page for this template at all?

Would appreciate your detailed answer just so I know everything before I purchased the theme.

Thanks

ThemeBeans

Here you go.

1. Yes it does. Screenshot of PSD files: http://thmbns.co/S26F Also includes all the source files used in the theme (all our themes do).

2. By removing the webkit:scale from the style.css stylesheet (near the top, I can point it out if you need it).

3. Not without some development.

4. Also not without some development.

5. Sidebars are widget areas that can use any widget.

6. Correct, there is no pricing page. As a developer I believe functionality such as this should be built as a plugin – not a default function.

Cheers, Rich

Default-user

Thanks for your reply Rich.

Just a few more questions if you don’t mind. I just want to make sure everything is possible some way or another before purchasing as it will be used for a big project.

- Reading back from the comments, someone mentioned about a pricing table and you replied it would be a month or so and that was about 2 months ago. Are you still planning on releasing a price plan plugin or? Something I definitely need. Is there a plugin you can recommend if your not?

- How easy would it be to create a ‘image/text’ sections to show off some features on the homepage? Like this but full width http://awesomescreenshot.com/0941vme78a can I create this through the theme or have to do it via PSD then custom develop?

- Would it be possible to create a ‘opt in’ form through the theme to display on home? Is it possible to customise the contact form to achieve this?

- If I wanted to add links in the footer (just like your themebeans site) is something which requires custom developing?

- Can I add a CTA button in the main header under the title?

- Lastly, if I didn’t want the site responsive, is there anyway I could just have it as normal web view on handheld devices?

I will greatly appreciate the responses. Really do love the theme.

Thanks

ThemeBeans

Hey, I’ll do my best :)

1. We’re still working on it. I decided to push it in the queue a bit in order to do a string of updates – pretty much across all our themes. It’s still in the works.

2. You could work with the HTML in text widgets for those types of areas. Our shortcodes works in those text widgets as well.

3. You would probably need to work with the Contact Form 7 Plugin (which we have built in compatibility with) to get what you need here.

4. Yes, a footer setup link on the themebeans.com website would need custom development in the footer.php file – via widget areas. This would not be difficult for just about any WP Developer – pretty basic functions there.

5. You would need to code that in via the header.php file (if you’re wanting something global). You could use: <?php echo do_shortcode(“[shortcode]”); ?> to output a button shortcode of ours too.

6. You could rip out the responsiveness from framework.css and mobile.css but there would probably need to be some CSS massaging to make sure everything is still displayed correctly. I wouldn’t recommend removing the responsive nature though – it increasing mobile view time. :)

I have some pre-purchase questions regarding Krative:

1. It appears there is an option to disable the hidden sidebar panel. If I disable it, will the primary menu still be responsive (having the menu icon to open a mobile menu)? Basically I just want to have a responsive menu, but I don’t need the hidden sidebar as a redundant menu when viewed on a desktop.

2. In the theme options there is an option called “Page Template Global Footer Widget Area.” Does this mean there are more widget areas (columns) in the footer?

3. Can I add more columns in the footer?

Great looking theme. I am looking forward to digging in.

ThemeBeans

No problem,

1. Yup can disable the hidden sidebar panel, and still keep the mobile responsive panel.

2. No, this means that you can select a widget area to display globally across your website. For example, in the live demo I’m pulling the Call to Action widget globally.

3. It’s possible, but not out of the box. You would need a bit of additional dev time.

Cheers! Rich

Default-user

Hi Rich, Thanks for the prompt response. Regarding your response to question #2, is it possible to put a widget on some pages, but not all? Or is it only possible to enable a particular widget globally.

Great theme either way and I am sure I will be purchasing soon,

ThemeBeans

It’s possible to put a widget area on all pages (portfolio has an on/off option in the Customizer) but it’s really easy to target specific pages that you don’t want it to show up on.

You can have multiple global widgets, you would just need to create a Widget Area through the widget area generator.

Thanks! Rich

Hello. I would like to buy KRATIVE but first need to know if I can choose beetwen those 2 background layout that you present (one is blue and the second is with photo on the background) I’m interested in the second one, can I delete the iphones pictures and leave only photo on the whole background with menu on the top?

Thanks! This theme is sooo beatufil !

ThemeBeans

Thanks AirCali! You can actually choose any color or any image for the backgrounds – I’m just using those as a demo. You can set the iPhone picture if you’d like, or any other as well. It’s basically the same functionality as a post – where you would upload images and insert them into the post to create the slide.

Cheers, Rich

Default-user

Thanks Rich. Just to make sure.. Can I just have one big photo as a background? without any slide or other pictures?

Regards

ThemeBeans

Yup, you can upload a background image for your slide background.

Hey there,

Love the theme. Great work! But I have few quick pre-purchase questions.

1. On the home page, the portfolio widget – I’m not a huge fan of the sliding project thumbnails. Is there a way to limit the number of projects shown on the home page to 6 or 9 and display them as a 3×2 or 3×3 grid inside the content container instead? (similar to display on portfolio page. title and category not necessary to display on the home page, but if I had to live with that, that’s no problem.) Fair amount of customization needed? Or minimal changes to make it work?

2. Ideally, I only want 1 slide – so not even a slide, but just static image and text. If I only create a single slide, will it display as a static image and text or will I have to disable the slider transition effect (in the case that slide 1 transitions to slide 1).

Let me know. Thanks!

ThemeBeans

Sure, no problem – I’ll do my best to answer.

1. You can limit them to a 3×3 via a checkbox in the widget itself (which would look something like this: http://thmbns.co/S8Fm – simply a test run). Here’s is what the widget panel looks like: http://thmbns.co/S8D7. If you wanted to display the title/category on the home page, you would need to edit the widget-recent-portfolio.php file, by pulling in the similar code found in single-portfolio.php. It’s not too tough but it would help to have a bit of PHP knowledge here.

2. You can have just one slide – the slider just wont “slide” or act like it should. The slideshow triggers only when there’s more than one slide. :)

Hope this clears it up for you!

Cheers, Rich

Great. Thanks Rich! So far so good! Let me know when your theme is WordPress 3.7 compatible. Would like to update my install when possible.

Hi there,

Just a few pre-purchase questions. Am I able to use a filter for the portfolio on mobile devices? I tested on my iPhone and do not see a filter for the portfolio. There is a filter for desktop laptop versions though. Please let me know ASAP. Thanks!

ThemeBeans

Hey mate! By default I have the filter hidden from the mobile view (with a “hide-for-small” class). You would need to remove that (in the template file) and probably massage the CSS a bit to make the list display better (for when you have a lot of categories to filter by).

Hi Guys, great theme, what do you enter at subscribe code for the newsletter feature? thanks TJ

ThemeBeans

Hey mate, glad you’re liking it. You would need to enter your form’s “action” code from your newsletter subscription service (MailChimp for example).

It’ll look like this here: <form action=”XXXXXXXXX” ... </>
