hello I’m having trouble putting the slide of home.

ThemeBeans

Hey hellomidia! Did you follow the section of the documentation to set your home template? Also make sure you have the Krative Slider plugin enabled.

Rich

The side menu is broken / glitched for pages with little content under (at least) Chrome on Windows 7 at 1920 resolution. It can be replicated on the demo site by deleting just about everything but the main paragraph on the Archives page. You’ll notice the massive chunk of gray left over because the side menu isn’t hidden correctly.

ThemeBeans

Hey Wonderment, if your content area is smaller in height than the sidebar, then the sidebar wont be able to “retreat” properly. Is this what you’re referring to? It’s due to the nature of the responsive design and the sidebar flexibility combined and shouldn’t be a problem for the mass majority of pages/uses as your content is almost always longer than the sidebar widget height.

Cheers, Rich

Hi Rich, thanks for the response.

If the sidebar was responsive, it would stretch down regardless of page content especially given screen heights vary and not everyone will have content to fill out an unknown height. We’ve run into many other issues working with this theme, some of which are:

- We had to find a Twitter response just for adding “Subscribe code” on the MailChimp widget via Google, so I would recommend putting this in the documentation. We work regularly with MailChimp and luckily, we’re able to figure it out based on concept.

- Currently, at least in the latest version we have, autop seems to be disabled so paragraphs in the visual editor and shift+enter aren’t being respected.

- The search input only searches Posts and not Pages but this is more of a design feature I suppose. We bought the theme for a client expecting website results to be available and not just those relating to the blog, etc.

These are just written so someone who isn’t a developer doesn’t have as much of a tough time reading through these comments.

ThemeBeans

Hey Wonderment, thanks for the feedback.

The responsive nature of the sidebar element is not relative to your screen size.

If you use MailChimp then the subscribe code shouldn’t be too difficult to find (it’s what we originally built the widget based on). All in all your form action code will do the trick in 90% of newsletter subscription services.

We don’t actually have autop disabled in the theme files. You may have a plugin active that is calling the “disable_autop” function.

Referring to the search functionality, you can modify (add or remove the whole function) on lines 436-446 on theme-functions.php. Simply remove them to enable pages too.

All in all please refer to our support center to contact our help team and we’ll be more than happy to help you out along the way. :)

Is it possible, on the Bean Recent Portfolios Widget, to show only a specific portfolio category? Thank you :)

Default-user
patriciap Purchased

yes..? no..? thanks

ThemeBeans

Hey mate, sorry about that – was lost in this length comments dashboard of mine!

It’s not possible out of the box, but it is indeed possible if you modify the loop to a single “portfolio_category” (which is the taxonomy name for the portfolio category) – in the $args statement on line 58 of widget-recent-portfolio.php.

It’s not tough but it may take a bit of time to get just the right call (mostly because the portfolio post type is custom).

Cheers! Rich

Hey,

I have two questions for you:

1. Can we use the Google web fonts instead of the default fonts on the theme?

2. Can we remove the zoom-in effect and plus icon on the Work section?

Thanks, F?rat

ThemeBeans

Hey mate – sure, here’s some answer for you:

1. Yup. You can either pull them the normal way or via the Google Fonts Plugin. I recommend CSS though, simply because it’s much cleaner and less “weight” on your WP install.

2. Sure, that’s a simple CSS modification. I can point you to the lines to modify – not a problem :)

Rich

Hi – fantastic theme. Exactly what I was looking for :-). And have a few of your other themes on my future purchase list now.

One slight prob I cant get my head round. My sidebar and drop-in navigation won’t show up. I have selected the menu in for both in the customiser and both are enabled – but neither seem to work. The dummy site is on www.greenticksgetclicks.com

Any quick help would be much appreciated (i tried all documentation and online but couldn’t find the cause)

Thanks and once again great theme :-)

Default-user

Ignore this – it was an out of date conflicting plugin that I had to remove – the theme is working perfectly now. :-)

ThemeBeans

Gotcha, glad you’re liking Krative!

Rich

I recently asked a question through your support system and unfortunately your response didn’t seem to fix the problem (which relates to the changing /portfolio_category url and displaying the correct breadcrumb on the portfolio page)

I’ve since replied to your email but had no response back in almost a week… I wondered if someone could take a look in to it and get back to me with a solution?

My support id is #1801.

Many thanks

Adi

ThemeBeans

Hey mate, we’ve responded :)

Hi there,

Can this theme also be used as one page website?

Thanks!

Maarten

ThemeBeans

Sure, I don’t see why not :)

Love this theme… you guys have done a great job!

A few questions…

- Is there any way to show related posts (same category) on a portfolio page? e.g. a “print” portfolio item page only shows other “print” portfolio items?

- I’m finding that the featured image and the gallery images in portfolio posts seem to be a bit buggy… if there is no portfolio gallery image, the featured image displays init’s place… and sometimes it doesn’t… I’ve also had gallery images disappear from the post (and the media gallery) when I have deleted a featured image. Is this perhaps something that I’m doing incorrectly?

- In the home slider… it seems that when I put certain items in the content area… divs, and pngs, etc… the BG image no longer scales properly in iPhone screen sizes… it seems to align left as opposed to scaling and center aligning. Is there a way to fix this?

Thanks so much. Again… really love the theme and look forward to further enhancements.

Default-user

And one more question please… is there a way to create a different instance of the homepage slider? Perhaps as a second level template?

Thanks.

ThemeBeans

Hey thanks glad you like it. I’ll do my best to answer :)

1. There actually is a related portfolio feature via categories. Have you turned it on via the Theme Customizer – in the Portfolio tab (screenshot: http://thmbns.co/SMbD)?

2. It’s not buggy but the way the portfolio works is that the featured image is not displayed on the single view (because it is a completely different size than the single images). Also one thing to note is that you need to have a featured image assigned for the portfolio post to show up on the portfolio widget and portfolio grid templates (as they use the images). All in all, the featured image does not affect the output of the gallery in the portfolio post (or blog posts either).

3. That’s strange indeed, do you mind sending the content you used along with a copy of the question to the Bean Help Center so we can do some proper testing on that there? There’s been no report on backgrounds acting up as of yet – but we’ll catch it if it is! :)

4. It’s possible if you edit the home template to pull out the plugin reference near the top, and then customize the slider loop on for whichever template you create/add it to. It would require a bit of WP dev skills.

Hope this helps! Rich

Default-user

Thanks Rich… great information. 1) Found the related posts button… it was already checked… I guess I just had things tagged with multiple categories… my mistake.

2) Portfolio single page – defintely having a feature thumb displaying in the gallery… when I check that admin… it shows that nothing has been inserted. I will see if the persists as I build out the site. Could just be an anomaly.

3) In looking at the Krative example… the BG image (laptop & coffee) is in fact aligning left… and the right gets cropped. Same as mine… BUT… when I removed all items from the post and just showed the BG image… it scaled all the way… and did not get cropped. Anyway to make the BG image react this way when content is placed?

4) Homepage Template – thanks…. I’ll look into that. But I am still unclear as how to create a different instance of the slider? Am I missing something simple here?

Thanks again…. appreciate your help!

Bean Social WordPress Plugin

The latest addition to the Bean Plugin family – Bean Social WordPress Plugin. It generates a nice widget and provides quite a few shortcode options for you to place icons anywhere and everywhere. Give it a look – oh & of course it’s free.

Hey guys,

On the home recent portfolios, my thumbnails are coming out slightly blurry, however on the portfolio page they come out perfectly sharp.

Is there a way to fix this?

Great theme by the way!!

Cheers, Luke

ThemeBeans

Hey Luke, did you happen to set your portfolio page via the Portfolio tab in the Theme Customizer? (screenshot: http://thmbns.co/SToB)

Deuce1983 Purchased

Hi guys, Awesome theme! Love it. 2 Questions 1. How can I make sure the blog posts are not fully shown. In your live demo I see a read more button…In my own enviroment I see the whole post. How to change this? 2. I added the Call to Action button widget. How can I change the colors of the background of this widget? And possible the colors of the buttons?

thanks!

ThemeBeans

Hey Deuce19983, glad you’re liking it :)

1. You need to use the more tag (<!-more->) to get the Read More button there.

2. To change the background of the whole section (assuming that’s what you’re referring to) of the CTA widget, you can target the specific section in which the widget is located. In this screenshot I have the widget in Section Three, so I would use, .section.section-three {background-color: #F5F5F5;}.

3. For the button colors in the CTA widget, you can attribute colors via CSS with the following classes: .widget_bean_cta .button.cta .widget_bean_cta .button.cta.attention

Rich

Hi, do you offer a downloadable plugin to create the testimonials bar with the scrolling background image?

ThemeBeans

Hey Ckmede, that’s actually built into the theme in the form of a widget. Here’s a screenshot of the settings and how’s it done from the Widgets panel: http://thmbns.co/STpF

Cheers! Rich

Default-user

Hi Rich, thanks for the reply. Maybe you misunderstood my question. I want to know if you offer that as a standalone plugin so I can use in another theme?

ThemeBeans

Ahh I see now. No I do not have that as a standalone plugin, though that’s an idea worth investing time in. The main issue I would have is figuring a way to make sure it looks right, and “fits” wherever the widget/shortcode is inserted – an “all around solution”. If I can nail that down then we have something :)

Bean Pricing Tables WordPress Plugin

The latest (and arguably the greatest) addition to the Bean Plugin family – Bean Pricing Tables WordPress Plugin. Give it a look – yup, it’s free too.

Cheers! Rich

Hey Rich, Quick question. Is there a simple addition to the array in “widget-recent-posts.php” that will allow the widget to just display one category of posts?

Thanks!

ThemeBeans

Hey @Csilverman66 – apologize for the delay. Yup, you can add the following snippet right below the meta_key in the array:

‘cat’ => 2,

You would swap out the number for your category’s specific numeral value. I find the easiest way to locate that is to inspect element on a particular post with your desired category, then look for “category-#”. That’s your number right there.

Cheers, Rich

Thank you Rich! Appreciate your help. :)

No problem mate, anytime :)

Rich

Hello, I am wondering if it is possible to have my portfolio ‘featured images’ in the gallery link to blog posts instead of a portfolio page.

Awesome theme, I am loving it so far!

Thanks!!

ThemeBeans

Hey Helen, not without some custom dev work unfortunately – or a redirect plugin that may do the trick (though that can get rather messy when updating in the future).

Cheers, Rich

Quick post purchase question. What is the max width for images in the gallery view of the portfolio? It just shows part of the image if a put a high res image in there. When I resize the image to the size of the content area it works, but then looks super small if you click it and go into the photo viewer mode. Seems like you should be able to have a large image scale inside the content area, no?

ThemeBeans

That’s an odd one. I suspect an error in pulling your Twitter feed. Are your widget requirements sufficed? Do you mind contacting the Support Team with your URL and login credentials so I can take a look for you?

Cheers, Rich

Default-user

I emailed support. Thanks.

ThemeBeans

Replied! :)

Rich

Awesome theme!

I don’t want to be impatient, but I’m not getting a response through the support service on some of my other questions. So I would like to ask a more urgent question here if you don’t mind.

Is there a way to disable the global footer on the homepage only. I would like to display both the recent posts and portfolio widgets in the footer, but as I have already include this on the homepage it shows up double. Thanks!

ThemeBeans

Hey Nieliearts, we’re all caught up on our support tickets, do you mind sharing your number so I can double check the status of your ticket?

For your current question, the global footer does not show up on the home page, but chooses a section on the home page – to show up throughout the theme. If you want to hide that section also from the home page, you can do that via CSS targeting the section. For instance, this ”.section.section-three {display: none;} will hide section three from the home page.

Hope this clears it up! Cheers! Rich

Hi ThemeBeans,

Love your Theme but it would be great to do a 4col or 6col Portfolioview.

Can you help me out? Thanks!

ThemeBeans

Hey Ratata. It’s a bit hefty of a task (but I’m sure most developers would jump at the opportunity if you’re looking hire).

Essentially you would modify the content-portfolio.php file to include a thumbnail variable for a 4 col layout. Then create a template duplicate of portfolio-3col.php and name it portfolio-4col.php. Lastly you would apply the necessary CSS (derived from the isotope-container’s settings for the other columns) in order to display them precisely.

Hope that paves the way for you :)

Rich

Just a nudge, still no response on multiple PHP errors. I resent the email to theme beans support email, the title is “Re: Krative Theme, Instagram, Portfolio Error, and Portfolio widget errors.”

Maybe you could check it out today?

ThemeBeans

I assure there are no portfolio/widget errors in the theme – but the Instagram plugin could cause PHP errors if it were to fail on execution.

Check for my reply shortly :)

Hello, I need to know if there is any way to remove the navigation bar, which indicates that post or page the user is.

ThemeBeans

There sure is. Look in the “Theme Options” section of the Customizer (WP Dashboard > Appearance > Customize). It’ll be the “Enable Page Sub Header” checkbox. Uncheck that and it will not be displayed.

Hello again, I have one more query. Some time ago I’m trying to integrate Gumroad theme. I need a button through short code with this code

Tech Man – Logo Template <script type = “text / javascript” src = “https://gumroad.com/js/gumroad.js ”> </ script>

possible that when you click the Owners in overlapping windows which occur and not be directed to another window. is this possible?

ThemeBeans

Hey there. If you use the button shortcode per the Bean Shortcodes Pluginthen you could insert that link there to create a button. The script you would want to add in as well – but make sure you’re in the Text Editor view (not visual), otherwise the script will appear as text instead of actual script.

Cheers! Rich
