Wanna float a quick search box up on the slider on the homepage is there a way to do this that will not effect the Mobile versions of the site or maybe a recommendation on the best way to proceed on that.

UXbarn

Hi,

You could manually place the search box at any location you want by putting this code:

<?php echo do_shortcode('[searchform]'); ?>

You might wrap the code within some “div” tag and use CSS for the adjustment. Kindly note that the slider is in “header.php” file. :)

okay thanks. it would be a custom string. I am integrating it in to my Online Booking software. Is there anyway to edit the shortcode so i can just use it.

UXbarn

You could edit the shortcodes by opening ”/includes/shortcodes/shortcodes.php” file. In case of the search box, go to the line around 897 and you will see the function of “register_searchform_shortcode()” there.

Great theme, love it! Just a quick question please and hopefully will figure it out shortly, but after adding images to the Gallery, the hover-state “view photo” appears twice on the webpage in Firefox (not Chrome or >IE9).

It looks like the following classes are being applied:

<div class="term_# photo-item hover"><a ... class="image-box caption"...><div class="photo"><span class="text">...

Will investigate, but wanted to see if anyone else had that issue or if it is user error! THANKS!

UXbarn

Hi, thanks for the purchase. :)

Just wondering what is your site URL? I would initially need to look for the problem.

RobotBoogers

Ha, actually in the middle of changing hosts (as well as going from DEV to LIVE) – so I’ll edit this when all that is complete. Thanks for the speedy reply!

UXbarn

Sure, let me know if there is any issue. ;)

I like the theme and would like to make a purchase. However, the site I am building is not accommodation oriented. I see that the theme comes with custom post types (Rooms, Facilities and Gallery).

Can these post types be used for different purposes and easily renamed for the front-end or are the names and paths hardcoded?

UXbarn

Hi,

Thanks for your interest! ;)

They are hardcoded. It means that you would need to customize the display texts a bit.

Default-user

Thank you. That is okay, I don’t mind making changes to template files so long as the theme supports child themes.

Does this theme support Child Theme functionality?

UXbarn

Honestly, I have never tried 100% aspects of Child Theme functionality but since the theme was created using the common concept of WP, there shouldn’t be a problem on that. :)

Default-user

Can you please explain a little bit more about this. Did you test your theme on this aspect?

Child Themes are quite important when purchasing premium themes as they are quite often updated which can be quite difficult without using a child theme.

Most themes I purchase support this, but I recently purchased a theme here on ThemeForest which does not and making any small changes to the template files and css makes it more complicated when the theme developer updates the theme.

Default-user

Just to clarify and explain why am I asking about this. A Child Theme allows me to modify the styling and layout of the parent theme without editing the files of the parent theme itself and when the parent theme is updated, my modifications are preserved.

Here is a link to WP Codex that explains how this works in detail: http://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes

Thank you for your time.

UXbarn

Yes, actually I have tested it with Child Theme for “style.css”, “functions.php” and template files usage in general points, including your case about making changes to the display texts of registered post types and you could do that using Child Theme with the custom code.

You can also override the parent’s template layout, surely.

What I said about not 100% in all aspects because some buyers may need to implement more “complicated” cases which I might not be able to cover them all in my test cases. That’s what I meant. :)

Anyway, thanks for your great suggestion! ;)

I can’t get photos to show on the Gallery. The category I am using shows on the page but neither of the images. In the settings I have clicked the category that I am using. What am I missing? http://paradise.socialmediaambassador.com

I realized it was setting it as the Featured Image. In your documentation it just says to upload so I thought it went in the body of the new image.

UXbarn

Awesome. Glad to hear that you figured it out! ;)

How do I change the order that the images are shown in the gallery? It looks to be first in go to the bottom. I want to reverse that.

UXbarn

I would recommend this plugin to re-order the images: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/post-types-order/

Hi. I have purchased the theme and love the look of it – but cannot find a guide for image sizes etc? This has always been provided in other WordPress templates I have purchased. Is this information easily found anywhere? Thanks.

UXbarn

Hi, you could find all image sizes showing in live preview by importing dummy data (XML file). Please see more details in provided documentation.

After you have finished importing and setup, you would see all image placeholders which indicate their own dimensions.

However, if you would like to know just for some specific areas, kindly let me know. :)

This theme is great! I am very impressed with it and happy with the purchase.

Currently the path for the rooms is hardcoded to use ”/rooms/room-title” Since the “room” posts are technically children of the page the user selects in the Theme Options >> Rooms settings, would it be better if the path used the parent page (Rooms Page)?

Is this something you could change in the next update or is that too complicated? If not, what would be the easiest way for me to change the ”/rooms/” part of the path to something else?

Thanks again for a well thought out theme.

UXbarn

Hey there, very glad to hear that!

In order to change post type’s slug, you would need to manually edit “functions.php” file. Open that file then look for the following code (line 302):

'slug' => _x('rooms', 'Slug wording of Room for permalink', 'uxbarn_lamoon'),

Just change from “rooms” to be yours. :)

RE: Image Sizes

@practisewellness

I was able to determine most of the image sizes for the theme without doing the XML import. I started generating pages and post only with text first and the theme has image placeholders that indicate the size.

Sliders – 940×450

Headers – 940×220

I did not test this yet, but I think for the rooms etc. you can use image size you prefer and they will be resized appropriately for the layout you choose.

I agree that it would save time if it was included in the documentation.

Does this theme have the ability to have captions associated with gallery photos? Thanks a lot

UXbarn

Yes. You can insert the caption using normal editor area of the gallery post. Kindly note that the caption will be displayed with the lightbox (once the image is clicked).

I have added one for an example. Go to http://themes.uxbarn.com/wp/lamoon/gallery/ then click at the first photo and you would see it. :)

Hi, I have been working on this but for some reason now I can not login via wp-admin. I have tried resetting the password and requesting. Also done what has been suggested here:

http://wordpress.org/support/topic/wp-admin-login-issues-2?replies=1

site is installed here:

http://www.tltg.co.uk/newsite/

Any ideas?

UXbarn

Hmm. Normally, out-of-the-box theme should have nothing to do with the login issue. Do you remember what is the last action before having this problem?

Default-user
stev35555 Purchased

Hi, yes i was adding images to the slideshow.

UXbarn

Sorry, I really have no idea because there is no bit of code in the theme that bothers with WP core like the login process, for example.

I would recommend you to re-install both WordPress and the theme. Please re-download the theme for the latest version (2.1) and use it with the fresh WordPress 3.5 package.

UXbarn

I have searched for some possible solutions and I hope this guideline might be helpful to you: http://codex.wordpress.org/Login_Trouble

Note: By the way, I noticed that you are using the theme version 1.3 which doesn’t support WP 3.5. So, either the above solutions work or you need to re-install them entirely, I still strongly recommend about re-downloading and using the latest version of the theme (v2.1) for fully working with WP 3.5. :)

Thanks for your help. Unfortunately none of those options worked so I have installed wordpress and the theme again but using the latest versions.

Just an update the problem has happened again. I have put a ticket into my hosts though to see if they can find anything out.

UXbarn

I am sorry to hear that and thank you for the update. I hope you would be able to find the cause and the fix soon.

Is there a reservation option on the WordPress edition of this theme? Thanks

UXbarn

Hi,

Did you mean the option for configuring the reservation form? If so, there is not unfortunately. In order to do that, you would need to edit the shortcode of the form manually.

Hi,

I am having a hopefully simple problem. I added some rooms as per your instructions, but when I click on “Book Now” and go to the reservations page, the newly added room does not appear in the drop-down list for “Room Type”. Hopefully someone can point me to what I am missing. Thanks

UXbarn

Hello,

Please open ”/includes/shortcodes/shortcodes.php” then go to the line 520 and you will see the code like:

$args = array(
    'post_type' => 'rooms',
    'post__in' => $checked_list,
    'post_status' => 'publish',
);

Change it to:

$args = array(
    'post_type' => 'rooms',
    'post__in' => $checked_list,
    'post_status' => 'publish',
        'nopaging' => true,
);

This should solve the problem. :)

I received this error when I tried to install the theme. Unable to create directory wp-content/uploads/2013/01. Is its parent directory writable by the server? Do you have any recomendations for me?

UXbarn

Hi,

It seems like there is some limited permission for your WordPress to create such directory on your server. This is a generic issue of WP that was discussed many times on WP forum.

Anyway, the links below should help:

Or perhaps you could contact your hosting for further assistance to help you configure the folder permission. :)

Hi UXbarn. I’m still playing with the dummy data on my localhost before going live. I have one issue regarding Testimonials. On the Homepage you have this code which calls the testimonials from the database: height=”200” id_list=”21,22,23” /]/full_width

The numbers in the “id_list” 21,22,23 refer to the Testimonials entered in the dummy data. But what about the new testimonials you publish through the Testimonials menu? I have entered few testimonials more beside those already entered with dummy data, but I can’t find their ID which I should write in “id_list” so that they can be displayed when the page is loaded.

I hope I explained it correct and sorry if my question is for the beginners, I’m still a WP novice. Thank you!

UXbarn

Hi there,

You could find the ID of each testimonial by moving your cursor over the testimonial title and look at the browser’s status bar.

Please see more detail in the screenshot: http://i1354.photobucket.com/albums/q697/uxbarn/Testimonial_ID_location_zpscbd5af19.png

Hope this helps! ;)

Hi there I see the demo website uses JQUERY 1.4.1 but I need 1.7.1+ for a plugin I’m needing to integrate. Would you know if there might be issues if I update to 1.7.1 (on purchasing and setting up)? Thanks a lot

UXbarn

Hi,

I think what you’ve seen is jQuery that is used for our “Theme Switcher” bar at the top of the screen. It is not one that is used in the theme. :)

The demo site is running on WordPress 3.4.2 and uses jQuery 1.7.2. And now the theme supports WordPress 3.5 which means it supports jQuery 1.8.3 as well.

So, the bottom line is, you won’t need to update anything. Just use it with WP 3.5. ;)

Hello Tim,

The problem is quite strange. It seems like the path was changed. Please open ”/includes/shortcodes/generator.php” and make sure that at the line 3, the code is as following:

require_once('../../../../../wp-load.php');
