I am very interested in your listing press-real-estate theme. I need a site to sell tradeshows stand, so my two questions are
1.Are all the search fields customizable so that I can remove the ones that say number of beds, or bathroom etc (Since these are not relevant for me)
2. Can I effectively create any types of fields with the criteria that matter to me?
currently you can customize all search filters by plugging into ListingPress’ API via your child theme (once you have defined your own custom taxonomies and meta boxes). I am, however, wrapping up an update that will let you set search filters from within theme options, so it’ll be even easier. You will still, of course, need to define your own taxonomies and meta boxes via your child theme and edit templates to display your new set of data on listing pages.
Hope this helps,
Im wondering is there is a demo user for the admin and the front end area? How does someone monetizes this concept? Do you get payed when someone is listing an apartement for rent or how?
One more thing. Are all users both sellers and buyers or are they are separed?
you can register an account on theme demo website and test all the fronend features for yourself. Unfortunately I cannot provide you with backend access, but I can send you additional screenshots of areas of your interest. You can also already see screenshots of theme options here.
You can monetize your website by selling the properties that your real estate agency offers to people that are interested in them and have found them on your website which uses ListingPress.
Only user’s with posting capabilities are listed as agents, the rest (subscribers) are not listed anywhere and their favorites/saved searches are private.
Hello i want to know :
how to change the listing names , for example i dont want (bedrooms or bathrooms or ..) . we are using the theme for another purpose not real state !
please help us ASAP !
Thanks in advance
you can change taxonomies in your child theme’s functions.php file by overwriting the listingpress_register_listing_taxonomies function. You can also define your own meta boxes by overwriting listingpress_register_listing_meta_boxes function, or just hooking an action into admin_init action hook (in case you just want to add some meta boxes). ListingPress uses Meta Box framework for meta boxes, and you can find documentation on how to use the framework here (you will find table of contents in ‘See more tutorials’ section further down the page).
Once you’ve defined your own taxonomies/meta boxes, you’ll be able to add them as search filters, and this process is described in Orbital Themes Knowledgebase, exactly here.
The rest is just a standard WordPress templating (again, done via your child theme) to display your new data on, for example, listing pages.
Hope this helps!
Thanks for reply !
i did as you said and it worked but i have problem with the price bar , i want to change the price to AGE so i want to don’t have M after numbers and be just from 1 till 20 !
another problem is that i want to change the price bar position on home page search and put it at the RIGHT SIDE not at left !
thanks again for your fast respond !
the price is intended for displaying listing price. You could, however, define new ‘age’ meta box and display it as range inputs (just like bedroom and bathroom filters are displayed now).
Switching places of elements in home search can be done by overwriting searchform-home.php file in your child theme. You would basically switch places of first and second fieldsets in the search form.
Hope this helps, cheers!
Is it possible to add/modify a dropdown box in the home search box where users can select the desired square meters?
How can you disable a dropdown and only show text. In my example I want only to show for rent on the home search box.
Changing <select> </select> in the php filo to <text> or </text> or removing the whole line is not working.
you can disable listing statuses in theme options. There is no ‘text’ HTML element, and you shouldn’t edit function files directly if you don’t know what you are doing. Any theme customization should be done with your child theme. If you don’t know how to build a child theme I suggest to hire a developer for an hour or two to perform any customizations that you need.
you still didn’t answer my last question but some how i have figured it out how to move the price slider !
there is another BIG problem !
we want when the people search for some location which doesn’t exist , it show message NOT FOUND or …
now at the moment whatever they choose it shows listings !
ALSO about the price slider :
how can we change the price o start from 1 to 30 not from 0 till 1 million ?
PLEASE answer ASAP !
if there are no listings matching user’s search criteria, the user will see a ‘nothing found’ message. If it works different in your installation – I would have to see it live to tell you anything more.
Regarding price ranges – you can set the minimum and maximum price range in Theme Options / Listings.
thanks for answer !
please write me your mail so i could provide you with website infos !
Please contact me via contact form on my profile page.
i contacted you , but you never answered !
please answer ASAP , we are running out of time
Please confirm if the theme has option for facebook api login intregation
aah..any reply as i am also interested in your theme
there are already plugins that manage registration using social network APIs, so I suppose you could use them. ListingPress has my Orbital Login plugin bundled, and the plugin only manages frontend registration and login, but doesn’t support social networks.
I am very interested in this theme. The only issue for me is that I require a user to sign up and actually list a property, which requires payment via paypal.
How difficult would this be to alter if I purchased the theme? I am a developer myself.
there are already plugins that manage membership (with payment options) and frontend post submissions, so it should definitely be possible, with some additional work on your side, to integrate them together and even match theme’s design. I am currently building such features myself, so if you are not in a hurry with your project you can wait for my updates to be released.
Thank you for your hard work, it is appreciated.
Please provide a date for the next release – our developers are waiting for your next update so that our project can proceed.
I have changed the update schedule a bit as I have encountered some limitations in the theme options panel that ListingPress currently uses. I am rebuilding it so that it’s possible to build nice drag-and-drop interfaces for changing search filters and taxonomies/meta that will appear in future frontend listing submission forms.
Once the new options panel is ready, I will release an update which will enable users to completely customize search filters from theme options via drag-and-drop interface. Apart from smaller additions and tweaks, the update will also let users specify additional field types for post meta data. Frontend submissions will be next in line. I’m really sorry for the delays, but I felt like intuitive interface to set everything up was really needed and, unfortunately, I didn’t realise earlier that the current theme options framework won’t be up to the task.
What is the schedule? You did not answer the main question.
Hello, my group as well has been following your theme’s introduction. We plan to use it to drive the listings at our Chinese site http://www.bmfc.com and we are also waiting to find out as the post above when you plan to make the next release available. We are most looking forward to have a dashboard for agents to manage their listings with. Thank you and keep up the great work!
please check my reply to springdev’s post above.
It there a way NOT to require people to sign up to add listings to a “favorites” list? Like in the previous version?
the solution from previous theme versions was really a placeholder for the current implementation. I feel like not giving your user’s an option to see their searches on other devices that they may use is a bad user experience and shouldn’t take place in modern web. That’s the main reason why the previous functionality is not coming back.
Can I do front end subbimission with this theme? I’m thinking free front end subbimission ….
I see you r building this feature currently. Cheers… Will wait for yur update then…:)
That’s great to hear! Stay tuned!
I’m exploring your theme, is there a place to enter the Lot or Land size that a property sits on? This is important for higher price point properties or Single Family homes.
You should look into customizing listing meta boxes and then adding new search filter. ListingPress uses Meta Box framework to register meta boxes, and you can find tutorials on how to use it here (you will find links to more tutorials later down that page). You can either just add a single meta box for listing post type, or completely overwrite the listingpress_register_listing_meta_boxes function, both done via your child theme.
Once your meta box is registered, you can add it as a search filter by following articles in Orbital Themes Knowledgebase. You will find more examples on how search filters are added by inspecting the code in inc/theme-functions.php file in theme’s directory, mainly listingpress_add_search_filters and listingpress_add_home_search_filters functions. All this should, of course, be done in your child theme’s functions.php file.
Hope this helps, best wishes!
We are using your theme for just the listing engine our site. So we are hoping to have more flexibility to modify the header look and behaviour. When the logo is clicked, it logically brings us back to the home page for the site. But we want to change this so that when a user clicks on the logo, it goes to a URL that we hard code or specify. Can you please tell us what file to edit and how? Many thanks
you can edit any part of the theme by creating your own child theme. The function listingpress_logo, which is called in header.php file was made pluggable, so you can overwrite it in your child theme’s function.php file. The function itself can be found in inc/template-tags.php file.
I strongly advise you not to change the page to which the logo links to because, as you said, clicking the logo is expected to lead your users to the home page.
Hi, I’m interested in this theme but I do not see anything that says it handles IDX feeds. Is that feature in this theme?
ListingPress does not support any IDX plugin (you can, however, try that on your own risk) and I don’t plan adding support for IDX in the future.
How to define link url to browse listings with get parameter such as
For Rent = /browse-listings?status=for-rent
For Sale = /browse-listings?status=for-sale
HI, I recall in an earlier comment that for agent profile pictures you want us to stick with using Gravatar. (At least that’s what I recall) This service is blocked in China, so we need an alternative way to upload the photo for an agent. (Need this to build trust with customers). Have you got any methods/alternatives for us to accomplish this? Thanks
Hi I just bought the item but when I click Install in: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/8705469/2013-09-15%2022_03_21-Theme%20Options%20%E2%80%B9%20Demo%20Theme%20%E2%80%94%20WordPress.png
I get 404 error page.
How would I go about changing the search icon on the homepage search to be the white version of the icon? I am working with a child theme & CSS.
