i purchased and installed the theme, everything looks ok, but orbitial theme options not working, dashboard, account settings etc not working, how to fix?
have you created all the required pages? You need one with ‘Login page’ template, one with ‘Account settings’ template and one with ‘User dashboard’ template.
Hope this helps!
Thanks for the reply, I also want to know how can agent change its avatar?
WordPress uses Gravatar service to generate user avatars and that’s how your users can change their avatars.
not all users can follow this procedure, we need an option in account settings for users to change their profile picture
I agree but, given that ListingPress is not a social network and user profiles are private, avatars are not a priority now. Your agents, whose profiles are public, will surely handle using Gravatar since they are able to fill out listings, which is more complicated task than uploading their avatar to Gravatar. Once the frontend submissions are live and everyone is able to submit their listings I’ll also add a possibility for users to upload their own avatars, but it’s not my priority right now.
I’ve added some metaboxes but having trouble to link them to the search list. I followed every step in your guide but no luck. The search filter boxes appear with the designated labels but nothing shows inside them.
Could you please put an example of creating a new metabox and then hooking it to search filters?
Update : Only range filter works, but I need to enter plain text as well to metaboxes and show them in the search filters radio and checkboxes
I am currently reworking how registering search filters works and in few days you’ll be able to define search filters from within Theme Options page. You’ll also be able to display meta-based search filters as radio, checkbox or select elements, if the meta box has been registered as one of these fields. It is not, however, possible (and will not be) to accept text-based input as post meta and then displaying it as radio or checkbox in search filters. There is no way to know all possible values for text-based meta field, and that’s needed to render checkboxes or radio inputs. As long as you use radio or checkbox input method for your meta field you’ll be able to show them like that in search forms on the frontend.
The update adding that functionality will be available early next week (I will be on the road during the weekend and won’t be able to finish it it faster).
Hello I really like this theme. It seems to have all of the functions we need and then some. I’m wondering though how much control the agents have over their listings. My project requires that agents have the ability to add pictures/text to fill out their listing. Do you know of a way that we could do that?
agents are just WordPress user’s that have more privileged role than subscribers and contributors. By default, every other WordPress role has a capability to write posts, including listings in ListingPress. Once someone has this capability, they can fully make use of WordPress’ post editor, including adding images, post meta and taxonomy terms.
I have a serious another problem. I cant get to see new listings in the listing browser except the first one. I deleted all the plugins(except WPML) deactivated the child theme, deleted and re-installed the theme but no luck.
No matter if I refresh the page, pushed the ‘Clear all search results’ it doesnt change.
Only when I tried it in another browser it showed, but playing around with the price slider made it stuck to the first post again.
Is there a way to prevent the site remember the search options? I dont think it is a necessity for my purposes and I dont want to tell my clients to clear their browser cache every now and then.
WPML is most probably the plugin that causes your issues. I have never stated that the theme is compatible with WPML, neither in item details nor in comments or theme ‘Compatible with’ attributes. The plugin should work out of the box with basic themes (like simple blogging templates), but themes with such advanced functionality as advanced search, saving searches or loading search results via AJAX have to be especially prepared to work with WPML plugin. I haven’t had enough time to add WPML compatibility to ListingPress yet, but I will probably do in some time in the future.
first of all fantastic theme!
i have a problem to activate languages with child theme. i can load wordpress languages from wp.config but clueless about changing theme languages. i read the documentation and using codestyling to produce .po but clueless how to trigger the .po file to works. thank you
i know we’re supposed to use functions.php to call the theme languages? direct them to the languages in main theme folder? but im still clueless where the languages folder should be? (main or child) and what should i add in the functions.php to call the languages.
also another one : how to change the search bar decimal point, originally the theme use M for million decimal point. i want to change that to use M for billion decimal point (for another currency). thank you.
sorry to trouble you but i found it. actually it’s very easy to translate. just put .po and .mo file in languages folder located in main theme root. and edit wp-config.php adding wplang your translated file name. newb mistake : )
but for my 2nd question im still clueless.
found another problem with add listing. i tried using clean install again now, no plugins nor permalinks, basic wp install, try download the theme again, tried via child theme and main theme, still yield the same error :
Fatal error: Cannot use object of type WP_Error as array in /home/sloki/user/h858585/sites/bundaproperti.com/www/wpbunda/wp-content/themes/listingpress/inc/theme-functions.php on line 1859
sorry for late response. I was travelling for the past three days and couldn’t reply any faster. You have to either use listing title as listing street address or manually enter your property latitude/longitude into appropriate fields, this should make the error go away.
hi, i already manually added all the latitude and longitude to all my listing (all previous listing are from xml imports) and the error appear when i want to add listing, means i cannot reached the add listing page.
and im still stuck with this one : how to change the search bar decimal point, originally the theme use the letter M for million decimal point. i want to change that to use J for billion decimal point (for another currency) ?
this error has no right to appear if you have filled the lat/long field – line 1859 runs only when the field has not been filled. Please make sure that you have filled the field properly. You can also do a little test and use title field as street address and see if the error persists. That’s all I can tell you without logging into your admin panel.
Regarding shortening billions instead of millions – that’s currently not possible without customizing the theme and unfortunately cannot be done via child theme. I have added it to my to-do list, though, so you can expect being able to localize this feature from theme options in the future. It is not, however, on my priority list so I won’t be able to tell you when such feature will be available.
i’m emailing your from your contact page, my login info. please take a look thanks.
How do you add the Agent profile image? Anyone?
WordPress uses Gravatar service for user avatars.
You should seriously consider something other than gravatar for agent profile images. Its very rare an “Agent” will have a gravatar account set up. It would be nice to be able to add a plugin for user profile image but its as the theme is hard coded for gravatar. Suggestions or recommendations? Otherwise nice theme.
I agree that custom avatars would be great and I will be adding that functionality along frontend submissions update.
i was using your demo to see exactly how i like it its perfect for wat i want to use it for just one question how does a agent add new properties
any user with posting capabilities can add listings the usual way you add posts in WordPress – listings are just another post type with few taxonomies and meta boxes added.
i would love to know your estimate big updates time? any idea? thx
Hi, How can i show the register link on the light box? it just shows the login form.
WordPress has registration disabled by default and you have to enable it in Settings / General.
Ho can I show the list “property by type” and “property by location” on the sidebar? I cannot seem to find a widget for that.
there is a ‘Custom Menu’ widget available and that’s what I’ve used to create those lists.
I added a sample listing and its the only listing on the site so far. but it seems not searchable, its not even showing advance search. please help.
I can’t really help you without seeing the webpage in question. Please at least provide a URL to the website where you’ve installed the theme.
The listing doesn’t show up in search results because it’s price is 35000 and the maximum price in search filter that you’ve set for listings with ‘for rent’ status is 2000. You can set the max and min prices for each status in theme options.
ive set it to 100000000, still not working.
Works for me… Remember that you have set that listing’s status as ‘for rent’ and that’s where you should look for it.
yeah great! i just realize that. thnx!
Hello, hope you had a great trip
I have a quick question regarding the listing images. I have uploaded some vertical images, but unfortunately they do not show up properly. The image has been scaled to fit the frame width which has hide the content. Is there anyway to present the vertical images properly? Cheers. An example here:
I have seen this before on someone else’s installation. It looks like WordPress doesn’t like the number of image sizes created by ListingPress, especially given all the retina resolution image sizes.
You can use Force Regenerate Thumbnails plugin to regenerate thumbnails for images that were not resized correctly, or just delete and upload them once again.
When uploading images please make sure that the thumbnail appears in Media Library popup before you close it.
I will be looking for another way of image resizing in future releases, but for now please use above tips when uploading new images or to fix old ones.
You made a very interesting plugin.
- Can you add screenshot of adding property page? Want to see how each field will look like.
- Is there an option to allow user post from public page not wp-admin?
ListingPress is a WordPress theme rather than a plugin.
Please send me an e-mail via contact form on my profile page, I can prepare some more screenshots of admin area for you.
Frontend listing submissions is a feature that I am working on and will be released as an update in the near future.
Awesome!, I will wait until next update (frontend submissions). Thanks.
Hello – are you coming out with an update today? I saw in the comments that you were going to publish an update (with updated search filters in the options section) a few days ago.
Thank you for the update on the status!
Hi! I was hoping to release that update before weekend but unfortunately I couldn’t make it on time. I will be unavailable during the weekend but I’ll finish and upload the mentioned update as soon as I come back.
I just wanted to let you all know that I will be unavailable during the weekend (Aug 31 to Sep 1). I’ll be able to respond to all questions or support requests that may arise on Monday.
Thanks for your patience and best wishes to everyone!
hi there…great theme
it’s possible to see the demo dashboard for logged-in users
I’m really sorry for late response.
You can create an account on the theme demo website and see how it works for yourself.
This theme is great but have one question. This there any advertising widgets for this ? I love the theme but need some areas of advert for my needs. Also have you ever thought about giving the theme a rating system? I think that would be a huge benefit for a business that would have vacation rentals, ect.
Ad widgets are a plugin territory and that’s where you should look for this kind of functionality. There’s no need to pack every possible feature into the theme – that’s what plugins are for.
Ratings would be nice and I may look into integrating some existing rating plugin into the theme in the future.
I’m using formidable pro form plugin with this theme and everything works well except Form Validation. When I use other themes the form validation works, but when used with Listing Press, it doesn’t.
I’m thinking the theme may have its own form validation and is preventing Formidable Pro from working correctly, Any insight in form validation in Listing Press? Perhaps a way to disable it?
ListingPress only validates its own forms and shouldn’t interfere with any other form data coming from another plugins. I haven’t used Formidable Pro plugin and I won’t be able to tell you anything more without seeing what happens on the backend of your installation.
I have a request regarding the price range indicator.
Instead of having a minimum/maximum it would be nice like this:
Max: 25.000+ (by adding the plus it takes all above 25.000 aswell)
If you have 2 things costing like 50.000 they won’t show up if the slider just goes like: 1.000-25.000
And if you make the slider have from 1.000 to 50.000 then it’s getting a lot harder to fine adjust the slider.
I hope you get my point. It would be really nice to have it working like that.
thanks for your suggestion. I have added it to my ‘things to consider’ list and may add it into future once I’m done with major updates to the theme.
Finally bought ur theme, however I ran into this problem when trying to install the Orbital Plugin from within Theme Options:
You don’t have permission to access /wp-admin/update.php on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
I have tried to reinstall and install wordpress again.
All help is appreciated.
Okay, apparently it is my .htaccess file that is causing the problem, I got rid of the 404 now, but instead it is now redirecting me to the home page of the site, instead of installing the plugin?
have you tried updating any other WordPress theme or plugin on your installation? It looks like your plugin directory is not writeable. If you are able to install/update other plugins, but not the ones bundled with the theme – please let me know. You can also always install the plugin manually – the plugin’s zip file is located in plugins directory in theme’s folder.
Hey I got it working in the end, but thx for the help anyway!
Can you share with others (and me) how you have fixed it and what was causing your issues?
