Good day, gentlemen

I would like to know if there is a way, and if there is how do I do it, to make the widgets and content area wider, specifically if content area can be 650px and widget 350px. The reason? many! but some of them are that youtube videos are 640px by default and I want to just paste the code and not to have to edit it all the time. On the widgets area, adsense codes which are over 300px look awful. 336px ads are the ones paying the most, but I am forced to have 300px because it doesn’t look synchronized and google already banned one of my accounts because of this.

so again, is there a code/procedure to expand the content and widget area?

Still waiting for the admin acceptance to the forum. oh well…

How can I change the language on the theme. I tried changing the language of Wordpress to no avail.

IndustrialThemes

Sorry, you must have registered right after I went to bed last night. All have been approved now. Check out the FAQ item 17 which talks about translating the theme: http://www.industrialthemes.com/made/faq/

hi just purchased, a little note your faq link in documentation takes you no where http://demos.brianmcculloh.com/made/faq/

Also cannot see any instructions about the actual install of demo content or have i missed it. i see a sql file any guidance for that?

IndustrialThemes

Sorry, I need to update that. It should link here: http://www.industrialthemes.com/made/faq/. You’ll see a few items explaining more about importing demo content there. Thanks for pointing this out!

Pre Sale question :

Does this theme work with Yoast SEO ?

IndustrialThemes

Lots of people are using Yoast with made. It’s possible it might require one minor change to get the title just right, as explained here: http://support.industrialthemes.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=4543&p=27843&hilit=yoast#p27843

SaijoGeorge

thanks for the quick reply .. one other question is can the theme be used as a child theme , so I can preserve the code changes I make to the theme files ?

IndustrialThemes

I haven’t provided a child theme with the download package but you can setup a child theme if you know how. I do provide a custom.css file so you can make style changes that won’t get overwritten during updates, however.

Hi, This is a presales question, is this theme bare bones, seriously how much knowledge of coding is required. Thank you.

Hi, This is a presales question, is this theme bare bones, seriously how much knowledge of coding is required. Thank you.

IndustrialThemes

No knowledge of code is required unless you want to change the way a part of the theme works. Otherwise everything else is contained within the theme options :)

I have another three pre-sales questions.

1. Do you have any screenshots available of the reviewing sections for books? 2. Are the book review options similar to that of Continuum? 3. Is it possible to add links to Amazon or Barnes and Noble from the reviews?

IndustrialThemes

1) The review sections are completely dictated by you and you can set them up and specify them however you want. I don’t happen to have a book review section on the demo but it’s only because I didn’t happen to make one for the demo – it could very easily be done. You create your own taxonomies (review-specific categories), rating criteria, style/layout, meta fields, etc. as you see fit :) It’s actually way more powerful than Continuum is.

2) See #1. Yes, you could replicate exactly what Continuum has using Made’s options very easily

3) Yes, you can put links into your meta fields or directly into your post content.

Thanks,

I.T.

I wanted to ask about the site speed with made magazine theme . How fast does it load normally ? And please also let me know the average bounce rate if you have any stats . I want to buy the theme and these two things are vital for me .

IndustrialThemes

Here are a couple links regarding users and their actual page speed stats:

http://support.industrialthemes.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=5340&p=25841&hilit=performance#p25841 http://support.industrialthemes.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=5514&p=26610&hilit=performance#p26610

I could tell you the bounce rate of my demo, but that’s sort of not realistic since my demo doesn’t have actual content and is probably browsed differently than a real site would be. But since you asked, my bounce rate is 50.76%. Keep in mind again that a lot of users who view themes load up the live preview and make a decision upon the first 5 seconds of viewing a page without clicking all through the site, so again, this is probably unrealistically high.

I would suggest posting your question on Made’s support forum. Ask people to post their bounce rates. I would be curious to know that as well :)

is there a option to hide widgets on pages, I would like the buddypress pages to look less busy

IndustrialThemes

You would have to edit the code in the theme manually to hide the sidebars from the BuddyPress pages. For further info or any follow up questions, please use the support forum: http://support.industrialthemes.com/viewforum.php?f=6

Thinking about purchasing this theme. 2 questions:

1. Can I have a header image (logo) stretch full screen width across the top above the menu instead of having a small one to the far left of the the same area as the menu? See http://themes.mdnw.net/?theme=pacifica for an example.

2. Can I set up some of my pages or posts to have 2 equally sized columns with no sidebars that give the appearance of a booklet style with the text from column 1 continuing to column 2 like you are reading a book? See http://themeforest.net/item/the-novelist-responsive-wp-theme-for-writers/full_screen_preview/526345 for an example.

Thank you.

IndustrialThemes

1. yes you can use the logobar background for your logo image and it can expand full width of the container.

2. unfortunately no, there is not two colmn text functionality built into the theme. this would require some theme customization and/or a plugin to accomplish.

let me know if I can clarify or answer any further questions.

thanks!

PRESALES QUESTION : I Have checked your online demo in higher resolution in which it loads in to the middle of the screen and its ok… But if theme has some responsivity to set the display look to fit to Higher resolution screen.. Currently it displays space on both side…

Second thing i would like to have 3 sub-domain and all of these 3 sub domain has MADE theme installed. Will it work fine…. ? HAPPY TO HEAR FROM YOUR SIDE…. THANK IN ADVANCE ..

IndustrialThemes

Thanks for your interest! Right now the widest format is 960px (1000px) grid, it can’t go wider than that. As for subdomains, yes you can install this theme on multiple subdomains as long as they are all part of the same WordPress installation.

Let me know if I can help clarify anything further. Thanks!

Hello I am interested in purchasing this theme, but i have one question before i actually buy it, i will greatly appreciate if you could solve my doubt: Is this theme compatible with social plugins that allow FB authentication/log in? Such as: O social login http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/oa-social-login/ thanks in advance, Jose
IndustrialThemes

Yes, there is nothing in the theme that should cause incompatibility or block compatibility with those plugins. I haven’t tested them personally so I can’t say for sure, but I don’t see why not. One thing you could do is post your question on the theme’s support forum to see if any other users have used that particular plugin with the theme.

pre-sales question. Is there an easy way to import a structured product list? Each product has about 25 categories, a few images and affiliate links. I have about 200 products.

thanks

IndustrialThemes

Are these products made up of custom post types? In other words, did you create these projects using a plugin or are they in your system as regular posts? Or, are they not even in WordPress at all but rather some external system?

Default-user

Hi, No – this is a simple spreadsheet in excel with all my product details. I want to set this up as review items. For each item I have about 25 characteristics (size, weight, etc…) that I want included in the database.

thanks

IndustrialThemes

I wonder if any of these plugins would let you import your Excel spreadsheet: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/search.php?q=excel+import&sort=

This is really more of a WordPress thing than a Made theme thing. Once you get your products imported into wordpress, you could use a post type converter plugin to convert them into reviews. I’m not going to lie, it probably would take a lot of work on your part to get things where they need to be…

Default-user

Hi, I really appreciate the speed and effort of your reply.

I mentioned Excel, but this could be CSV as well. Just do you have a recommended method to import stuff into your theme?

Let’s take your demo for instance – if I had a list of 100 movies with some stats per movies, what would the easiest way to get these in the “system”? Would these be the plugins you mention?

Many thanks!

IndustrialThemes

For people who have existing posts in WordPress that they want to turn into reviews, I recommend this post which converts them into Made’s review types: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/convert-post-types/. That has worked for lots of people. However they would then have to add the “extra” stuff that makes it a review, like assigning primary taxonomy (review-specific category) and ratings, etc. But all the post content, title, custom fields, featured image, categories, and tags would get converted just fine. Now if you’re coming from CSV, then that is an extra step to get them into WordPress which I haven’t worked with before. I would advise that you setup a WordPress test install and try out some of the CSV importer plugins and see if you can actually get your products into WordPress. If you can figure that part out (I’ve never tried this personally and don’t know the ins and outs of it) then you are a lot closer to using Made’s review feature for your products. Does that make sense – the two step nature of this?

Default-user

Thanks.

Yes – it does make a lot of sense. Somehow I was under the wrong impression that all the review content was fed from a product database. That’s the reason we have been talking at a tangeant.

Actually I now understand that it’s not – it’s a review system on top of a normal post right?

Thanks for bringing the clarity.

IndustrialThemes

Yes, it uses WordPress’s custom post type feature to create the reviews. Sorry, I guess I didn’t catch what you were saying. There is no custom table backend for the theme, it’s all using built-in WordPress stuff. That’s the beauty of it.

Default-user

Thanks for the clarity of your explanations.

What about if I install jigoshop (an e-commerce plugin for WP) and then install your theme on it? This would allow me to manage the product database with jigoshop and the review part with your theme right? Problem is jigoshop does not create pages or posts. Would this still work? Any way I could test this?

Here’s an example I set up last night of jigoshop: http://www.photoloco.fr/product/grand-angle/canon-35mm-2-0/

thanks,

Hi,

I bought the theme and I wonder if any registered user can post their own articles ? I think I got the wrong theme.

Thanks

IndustrialThemes

Users can post their own articles as long as you give them permissions to do so (such as make them editors or authors)

What’s new on 2.3?

spyrodeath

Nice!!! There’s a lot of good stuff there. Now, I am most excited about the shortcode but can’t seem to find it in any of the shortcode list (post). Where can we find that specific short code?

IndustrialThemes

There’s not a button for it yet. Just manually put it into the post content manually. wrap your embed code with

spyrodeath

Sweet!!! Sounds good. Tnx.

Am i able to make this theme an RTL theme?

You would have to make the change yourself since there is not a built-in option for this in the theme, unfortunately.

I’d like to know if this theme is compatible with the WPML Multilingual CMS plugin and if you have a .po for it. Thanks.

It looks amazing, great job! :)

IndustrialThemes

I have not tested it with that plugin before, but it does come with a .po file so I see no reason why it wouldn’t be compatible. You could ask on the support forum to see if anyone else has tried it if you would like to do that – maybe someone can more definitively answer you.

Default-user

Thanks. I checked and this is what I found: http://support.industrialthemes.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=2942&p=24037&hilit=WPML#p24037

WPML has some tools for testing, but I’d only be able to run them after purchasing. Do you think you could check? I have a big multilingual site with 3-4000 visitors a day, and I can’t work without WPML. You can see their tips and tools for developers here: http://wpml.org/documentation/support/multilingual-compatibility-testing-tool/ Your theme would be perfect for me if only it could work with WPML.
