I’m new, Menus are not showing other than white dividers. Tried auto installing theme as suggested by one poster and this fails.
Can I have some help please as this is killing my enthusiasm. Someone also said you need to enable custom themes.
How on earth do you do this as the option path suggested does not exist as he had written it.

I also cannot view menus or any text. Any help from anyone would be great. FYI I have read all 10 pages here with many having similar problems, but none of the solutions are applicable, or people work it out and dont post their solutions.
Hey There, I am considering buying this theme, but have a couple of questions.
Can videos be featured in the slider?
I’m assuming I’ll have the ability to add a background image?
If possible, the client would like to have a vertical navigation on the left. Would that be possible through a custom menu or plug-in?

Hi, about your questions:
1) That is not currently supported by the theme.
2) Yes!
3) Yes, you can move the sidebar to the left in the settings and then simply use the included links widget as a menu or you could use another one.

Hi got this working now. I did a auto non FTP upload and it worked. If you have the same problem make sure to use the magnifica.zip file in the install folder.

Hi again, everything is working well, but I would like to change the font type. Any suggestions how to do this please.
Hi, if you are referring to the font used for the regular text, open styles/main.css. You will find the font-family property in line 18.
If you are talking about the titles, the theme uses a script called cufon for that, you can load any font into this generator to build the necessary files. Instructions on how to use it are on the site as well: http://cufon.shoqolate.com/generate/

out of no where today my slider function isnt working and it says Deprecated: Function eregi() is deprecated in /home/wearepmg/public_html/wp-content/themes/magnifica/includes/thumbnails.php on line 284
How can I fix this? It was just working with no problems.
Your hosting probably switched to a more recent php version and you are probably running an old version of the theme because this has been fixed.
You can get the latest version from My Account > Downloads here at ThemeForest.

This happened before I updated my wordpress. I then updated my wordpress and downloaded and uploaded the latest version of this theme. and once again the home page slider wasnt working. Also the “Magnifica featured posts” and “Magnifica recent posts” dont show the mini pictures like they are supposed to. Also my tweets arent showing on the homepage even tho I am logged in and connected the theme to my Twitter account. All of these problems just started happening. Can you please check my website and let me know how to get the theme running like normal again. my site is www.wearepmg.net
Nevermind I seem to have fixed everything….only problem still remains is the Twitter function still isnt showing my tweets on the home page
Thanks BioXD, Kind of getting used to the font now that the colours have been edited, although I’m not so keen on how the numbers appear lower case compared to regular text in the headlines.
One big problem which I’m sure others will have too is the media gallery search function not working properly.
Cramgaming already has 100s of images from various games and let’s say I want to reuse an image as the featured image from another post I’d have to manually hunt down the image url or simply re-upload the file again from PC. This isn’t practical at all. Neither is going through 100s pages to find the image.
I’ve looked into this and it seems to stem from the search looking for media via posts which returns a negative search result. Can anyone offer some suggestions please.
This is made on purpose to avoid the single media files from appearing to the user when he searches. Unfortunately, it extends to the admin area as well If you want to remove it, open search.php and delete or comment out lines 7 to 26.

Hola Oscar te escribo porque quiero hacer pruebas en mi xampp con el tema Magnifica pero cuando lo quiero instalar me aparece el siguiente mensaje:

Esto no me pasa cuando lo quiero instalar dentro de un servidor en internet.

Antes que nada, asegurate de tener la última versión del tema, algunos errores de soporte para viejas versiones de php ya fueron corregidos. Si ya hiciste eso, el problema es que la instalación de php de XAMPP puede ser vieja o tener algunas reglas de sintaxis moderna desactivadas. Intenta buscar el php-ini y activar la siguiente variable:
Reinicia tu servidor y prueba de nuevo.

Hi, I’m having a weird problem. looks like there is no “Background” option under the “Appearance” menu? I can’t change the background at all! There are no options there! It’s almost as if the theme wiped it from Wordpress? Can anyone help?
What version of the theme are you using? what version of Wordpress? there was an issue a few months ago when wordpres updated and the background option was bugged. It has been fixed now. Try getting the latest version of wordpress and the latest version of the theme. You can download it by going to My account > Downloads.

I just bought it this past Saturday! There’s a newer version since then?
If I download the new theme will that mess up the way I’ve already set up my page? Will I be working from scratch again?
I’m on the most current version of Wordpress.
In that case it must be something else. Try disabling all your plugins and see if one of them is causing a conflict. What kind of changes did you make? Were you not able to see the menu from the start or after you made changes to the site?
Try reinstalling the theme, you will not lose any of the changes you have made via the admin panel, you would only lose changes if you’ve directly modified the code.

I was about to install to another site and I had this problem just before the same “Welcome world” message by Wordpress.

Yeah, i would work for a tech blog, yes the theme is supported and updated constantly. Any kind of “bugs” you can read about in the comments have been fixed in the latest versions.

Yes, all major modern browsers are supported and yes it includes several background options plus a tool to add your own.
And I have seen some other sites using this reporting bugs, are there any bugs? And if I were to set the background white? When you hover over the main menu buttons? Will they hover black?
Most bugs listed in the comments here are fixed when they are found and the latest version doesn’t contain them. Yes the hover effect is black but you can pick any color with an easy to use tool that is included and lets you change the color of pretty much everything.

No worries, I’m here to answer. Yes you can add your own logo, and yes, when you install there’s really not much setup, it will look pretty much like the demo, you do need to set up the menus and select some posts to use with the slider, everything is explained in the included help file and has been built to be easy to use.

We’re using Magnifica for a massive website in development (200+ posts & pages), and I wanted to make sure it’s compatible with WordPress 3.5 before upgrading. We’re hoping to tackle the upgrade within the next month, so please let me know if there are any plans to release a theme update for 3.5 compatibility.
Our client also just asked whether the theme will work on smart phones—are there plans to make the theme responsive in the near or distant future?

From the testing I’ve done, yes you can upgrade safely to WP 3.5. As usual, make sure to have a backup ready anyway.
Yes, a responsive version for smartphones is in the works but I have no date. Hopefully early next year.
