Discussion on Marriage - Responsive Wedding Wordpress Theme

My client purchased this theme and has hired me to edit it for her. I have purchased over 400 items here and would like to give you props on a nice design. A couple of questions

PNG Logo I uploaded does not act responsive.

I want the header to act just like a normal slider where I upload pictures and adjust fading and timing and not have it run of posts and featured images.

FamousThemes

Hi,

In case your logo is bigger than a mobile width screen, in order to make the image responsive just add to the CSS file under the 1000px Media querie code, or maybe down to another smaller value the line

.title img{ max-width:90%;}

And play with that 90% if you want the image to be smaller proportional to the screen width.

About the slider, you can do that, by using some posts to add the slider images, or pages. And if you don’t want to use the posts in blog or other section, just create them to be used in the slider. To remove the caption over the image just see the FAQ section, you have some instructions there “How to remove the caption text and title on home slider images?”

As for the timing and fading see the flexslider options, they are available only in code, and not in the admin panel.

The filter in image gallery is not working. what can I do? nothing in help file worked! email me or send me direct message so I can give you access to our site.

Hi,

I guess it’s the common mistake of not using the same names for the filtering categories names, as the permanlinks are.

Show me your demo url and I wil tell you exactly what I mean.

Regards.

I deleted the foot menu and now the main menu is at the footer and is not even in order – how do I erase the footer menu all together

FamousThemes

To create the header menu, and the footer menu use Wordpress->Apearance-> Menu tab options.

Just create 2 separate menus, select them as main and footer menu. And drag links, pages, categories…to the created menus. This way you can manage all the menu link, and order them how you want by simply drag and drop items.

To completely remove the footer menu code see footer.php file and there you hace the menu DIV container.

Regards.

Thank you for the slider info – when it comes to the logo – I am making no sense of what you provided me.

593×112 is the logo image – please give me exact direction on how to make this responsive like every other image should be using responsive design. Thank you.

FamousThemes

Hi,

Use the following steps to make the logo image responsive.

1. Open style.css file and down on the page under the @media screen and (max-width: 1000px) { line you will see the code for the title

.title{ text-align:center;margin:0px; padding:55px 0 10px 0px;font-family: 'Great Vibes', cursive;font-size:40px; color:#4c402b;}

2. Under that line of code just add the following line

.title img{ max-width:90%;}

This will make the logo image responsive when using the mobile or any device under 1000 px width resolution.

Regards.

Hello!

I have an urgent question to solve, because we have to deliver the couple’s website on Tuesday, and we have a problem with this gallery.

The website is: http://demo.lagranboda.net/fotos/

When you enter the website you can see that in the photo gallery there are two “Albums” or what is called “Filters” one is “Boda” and another is “PreBoda”, if I click PreBoda not see any image, and we do not know because we have been reviewing the documentation theme but have found no solution.

It is urgent that we find a solution for the customer to enter the photo gallery and working properly Albums clicks the photo gallery.

Thank you very much, Best regards, Alex

Hi Great theme.

Is it possible to have the images in the home page slider not clicking through to a blog item? I just want a nice selection of images scrolling one after the other?

Regards

FamousThemes

Hi,

This was a request I got from the users to make the slider clickable and go to pages or posts.

To delete this function you need to go in index.php file inside the theme files.

And on top of the lines in class=”slider_container” you will the line

<a href="<?php the_permalink() ?>"><img src="<?php echo get_post_meta($post->ID, " slideshow_large_image_url="" true="" />" alt="" title=""/></a>

You will need to remove <a href="<?php the_permalink() ?>">.... and ....</a><code> and leave just the image code <code><img src="<?php echo get_post_meta($post->ID, " slideshow_large_image_url="" true="" />" alt="" title=""/></code> Hope this make sense. Regards.</code>

Hello,

The standard option on the Twitter feed is only one post (the most recent one): http://uwtrouwfotograaf.be

Is it possible to change it to the last two?

Thanks,

Kanter

FamousThemes

Hi Kanter,

Yes we did leaved only the latest twett just to make the layout look good.

To change that see header.php file

Open it and see the top javascript code

  jQuery(function($){
    $(".tweet").tweet({
      join_text: "auto",
      username: "<?php $theme->option('twitter_username'); ?>",
      count: 1,
      auto_join_text_default: "we said,",
      auto_join_text_ed: "we",
      auto_join_text_ing: "we were",
      auto_join_text_reply: "we replied",
      auto_join_text_url: "we were checking out",
      loading_text: "loading tweets..."
    });
  });

The count can be changed from the line count: 1,

Just add 2 if you want, but make sure your layout will look good, and not to long down on the page.

Wanted to know, is there a way to control the speed of the slider, to make the slides go faster?

Also, can the background image that stays on the top be removed?

I tried changing the #center_container background color in style.css, but it’s not showing up, is it something can can be changed from elsewhere?

Thank you!

Btw, do you have a support forum or something?

How do you upload this theme. I tried through wordpress upload .zip file, also tried via ftp unzipping first then uploading to theme folder, both times says style sheet missing.

FamousThemes

Hi,

Please unzip the main file you have download. That main zip contains more than the theme files. In wordpress you must install just the theme folder.

So unzip the main zip, take from there just the theme folder. And if using the FTP just upload that folder into wordpress themes folder, or if you want direct wordpress upload, just make a new zip of that only theme folder (naming it sometings like marriage-wordpress.zip) and upload it using the wordpress upload panel.

Regards.

Figured out the background image removal – just needed to leave the field blank, stupid me :)

I have a minor issue. I’m creating a form using VFB for the RSVP section of my wedding site. The problem I have, as shown in the image below, is the I can’t seem to class the lists properly so that the options and the checkbox, etc, show up on the same line. It’s not pretty as it is, but somehow on your preview, everything is neat and on the same line. Additionally, how do I add date info after “Wedding Ceremony and Reception”?

As to my second question in the post above, when I originally looked at the preview, it showed the date as a separate item in bold yellow colour. But the preview right now doesn’t show this. I am wondering specifically about yellowing within the same line.

One last question… my slider on the front only seems to show a few words for the caption and I can’t find where to change that. I looked in the CSS under the slider section, but don’t see it there, and I see nothing in the php files.

FamousThemes

Hi,

The function that extract the slider caption is found in functions.php file

It’s called “home_excerpts” and the line to edit it ”$excerpt_length = 7;” from that function code.

Hello,

Any chance you’ll add a Pintrest icon as social media?

Thanks!

FamousThemes

Sure,

Put it on my list to include it in the next update.

FamouThemes,

Thank you for the beautiful theme! I was wondering if there was a way to adjust the thumbnails in the photo gallery so that they are centered. The automatically generated thumbnails do not work for portraits. Thanks.

FamousThemes

Hi,

Well this problem was showed to me also by other users. Yes timthumb (the well knowed code that is automatically generating thumbnails for wordpress) do not resize well the portrait images. Some images might look cut-off.

I have decided to remove timthumb from my themes, and let users use the wordpress buit-in resizing images tool. This way they will manually build the thumbnail using the wordpress tool.

And this marriage theme will have this update too. Just working on it. I will release a new version next week with the update.

Hello,

whenever I use smileys, it puts the smiley on another line. Hard to explain, but here’s an example: http://uwtrouwfotograaf.be/blog/uw-trouwfotograaf-als-inspiratie-voor-trouwfoto-jessica-biel-en-justin-timberlake/

Even the ’.’ or exclamation mark after the smiley will be put on another line.

How can I fix this bug please?

Thanks!

First … love the theme. It looks amazing!

I’ve worked thru a few minor tweaks, but you’re mobile version doesn’t appeal to me. I’d prefer to have the mobile version look just like the desktop version; only smaller.

I did test something …. I removed all of your media css entry and then installed the WPTouch plugin. It looks exactly how I’d like for it, but I’d rather not give the mobile option to my visitors.

So, first, let me confirm if there is any negative impact to other areas by deleting the media css entry?

And, would you have code that would elimate my need to use a plugin and still get my desired effect of having the mobile site look exactly like the desktop.

Thanks, Randy

FamousThemes

Hi Randy,

There is nothig wrong in deleting the CSS media queries code. The theme will function normally. The only thing will happen is like you said, on mobiles the theme will look just like the desktop version. And another thing to delete is the line of code from header.php

<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width; initial-scale=1; maximum-scale=1" />

Not sure what you code you want when you say “would you have code that would elimate my need to use a plugin and still get my desired effect of having the mobile site look exactly like the desktop”

To get the desktop view also on mobile, deleting the CSS media queries and that line from header is enough.

Regards.

When I visit the site via mobile, it’s not auto-sizing to the mobile screen size, but that might be because I didn’t delete the header info. I’ll try that.

Thanks for the response!

Yep…..that seemed to fix it.
