Hi,

Great theme, thanks for creating it. I was wondering if by anychance you knew how to add a jQuery tooltip functionality to this template? I’ve been trying numerous solutions, like http://qtip2.com, but whitout any success… If you have any idea, i’ll be glad to learn about :-)

Kind regards

billyf

Hi Mycil,

Thanks for purchasing my theme! Regarding tooltips, here are few examples / tutorials which you can follow, each of different approach / method : http://jqueryui.com/tooltip/ http://www.mkyong.com/jquery/how-to-create-a-tooltips-with-jquery/

Thank you.

Hi, I want to buy this HTML version but I’m wondering if it’s possible somehow to add titles to blog thumbnails (blog list)? As I see on the demo only images are displayed and you need to hover to reveal the tile. Tag names are visible and would be nice if title would be there instead of tags..

Also is it possible to hotlink a entire image (you need to press + on main page to reveal the slider) on the slider?

Sorry for my English.

Regards.

Hi discopixels,

Thanks for your interest in my theme! Regarding your questions :
  1. It is possible with some HTML / CSS code modifications (which you will need to, since you are using the HTML version). It pretty much depends on your creativity on where / how you want it to look.
  2. Yes, this is possible. Again, as this is a HTML template, you just need to add the anchor tag surrounding the whole list element (the slider element) and it will still work that way.

Thanks.

Hi Billyf

Very nice work. Do you have any plans to incorporate OAuth2 in future? I was thinking of having a go at combining your template with this https://github.com/Lusitanian/PHPoAuthLib so I can get SoundCloud feeds etc, but I thought I’d just check first that you have no immediate plans.

Thanks!

billyf

Hi JungleMouse,

Thanks for purchasing my template, I’m glad you like it! I don’t have any plans of using OAuth2 at the moment because there’s only Twitter integration which relies on the TwitterOAuth library made by Abraham. If you’re switching to OAuth2 to support SoundCloud, perhaps you can remove this and use that to retrieve the Twitter posts as well (if you’re using it).

Anyway, I do have some ideas for SoundCloud integration into the template but just can’t find the time to do it. If you have any problems, feel free to contact me.

Thank you.

OK no problem, thanks!

Me again. I’ve had a chance to use your template for a few hours now and I’ve found a few little things which I thought I should pass on:

1. On index.html line 92 there’s a toggle button. When this is clicked, it uses a jquery slideToggle to expand. The expansion animation goes too far and then jumps back again. Seems to be a known bug with jquery (Google ‘jquery slideToggle jump’). There are workarounds, but maybe going up to a higher version of jquery would fix it?

2. If I view index.html as a local file (rather than from a server), hovering the mouse over the rightmost tile affects the layout of all the tiles beneath it – presumably because of the hover border. I realise that it would normally viewed from a webserver, but would this also happen if users have javascript disabled in the browser?

3. On index.html line 493 there’s a toggle button at the bottom of the page. When this is expanded. it would be great if the browser window would automatically scroll down to bring the new content into view.

4. On the drop down menu buttons (eg. HOME, PORTFOLIO, BLOG etc), it would be nice if a click on the menu button closes the dropdown if it is currently open.

Sorry if these seem small but please treat it as a compliment – the overall quality is so good that the small things stand out.

I’m a C++ programmer, so I’ve got as far as working out roughly what’s wrong but it’ll take me more research before I could fix it myself!

Hi JungleMouse,

Thanks for reporting those to me. Regarding those problems :
  1. It seems this has to do with CSS rather than jQuery. I overlooked this issue (and nobody has reported that to me as well) but it’s a really quick fix. Just find .mainpage in style.css and add position:relative; to fix the problem.
  2. Well, what you said is correct because the theme requires Javascript to keep the elements in place. Without Javascript, most of the fancy stuffs won’t work (such as the tile animations, lightbox etc.) and there’s no viable workaround for those things. Javascript is already quite a ‘standard’ component of a webpage at the moment and even Firefox has removed the option to disable it (unless you dig into advanced options using about:config). There’s only 1%-2% of web users, at most, who browse without Javascript enabled, thus not warranting providing alternative if it will not lead to the website being unusable.
  3. Perhaps you can try binding scrollTo to the toggle to move the browser view to the element, after a user clicked on the toggle to open it. I’ll add this in the next update (which hopefully can be done as soon as possible when I have the time).
  4. This hasn’t been done because the navigation menu is done with CSS hover method without any Javascript (to ensure compatibility in case a user doesn’t have Javascript, since it’s a critical component of a website). However, if you convert the menu to a slidetoggle event (i.e. click on first level menu to show the dropdown), then you can make it close after clicking on a dropdown item. It’s just a slightly modified code from the current toggle Javascript code but using this may lead to problems in those without having Javascript enabled.

I hope these are helpful for you. If there’s still any problems, don’t hesitate to contact me. I’m always happy to iron out those minor problems which could have been overlooked in the development process.

Thank you.

Hi Billy

Thanks for getting back!

1. Adding position:relative; fixed it. After posting I found out that using jquery 1.8.3 also fixes this problem so I might stick with that – I haven’t noticed any side effects from using it so far.

2. Understood.

3. OK, I’ll leave doing anything for a little while just in case you get there first.

4. I see. In that case, I agree it’s best left as it is.

Thanks once again.

Good day I really like your Template a lot…I need help with setting up an application for Tweeter. I am not sure what the Callback URL:. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

billyf

Hi bpearlz,

Thanks for purchasing my template! I wonder which part are you having problems setting up the Twitter? You’ll first need to get the API key by registering at Twitter. Then, open tweets.php and modify the relevant fields (username, consumer key etc.), as instructed in the readme file.

If there’s still any problems, feel free to contact me again.

Thank you.

Thanks Billy F for your quick response. The only issue that I am having setting up the API Key with Twitter, I am not sure what the Callback URL: should be. I know not really a template question but not able to locate answer with twitter help page.

Thank you in advance

billyf

Hi bpearlz,

You may leave it blank. It is where a user will be redirected after being authenticated (and since we’re only using this to pull the tweets, not doing login etc, there’s not really a need to fill it in).

Thank you.

Good day Billy F. I left blank and I am getting invalid url… This is my first time trying to add Tweeter with the new format. I can’t find any info that will help me create an application that I understand. It is a main feature on your template and really want to add it can you please give a example or steps in creating application. Tweeter is only asking for name, description, website, and call back url. I gave it a name, description and the http for the website home page leaving last blank.

Thanks

Posted this question by mistake in the Wordpress version comments. How do I set the first toggle-able area (flex slider and quotes) to be open by default?

billyf

Hi HairyArse,

To change it, first, find this line of code :
<div class="toggle-button"><span class="toggle-indicator">+</span></div>
    <div class="toggle-content close">
//-----Some codes here-----//
    </div>

Now, you just need to change the + to – and remove the ‘close’ div class. The toggle will now be open by default.

Thanks.

hi, does this email template work with mail chimp. ie copying the html etc into mailchimps editor

thanks

billyf

Hi forry123,

Thanks for your interest in the template! Unfortunately, I don’t think it would work as an email template as it relies heavily on javascript and many email clients have disabled javascript in emails for security reasons. Perhaps you might want to look for items filed under the Email Templates category.

Thank you.

I’m interested in the template can it be set up to pull media from a folder in side the website?

billyf

Hi woolaver,

Thanks for your interest in my theme! It is just a HTML template, so if you know how to code / implement such functionality at the backend in any platform (may it be PHP, Ruby etc.), you can use the template (or any other HTML templates) to achieve what you described.

I’ll emphasize again that this is just a HTML template which can be used as the front-end presentation for any back-end script that you have, if you know how to code it based on the requirements of your back-end script.

Thank you.

Hi Billyf,

I bought the theme but cannot find the nice colour selector you have on the example. Is it not included in the package?

billyf

Hi Revelation0,

Thanks for purchasing my theme! Yes, that is actually just an element of the live preview like most other themes here. It’s just used to demonstrate how the website will look under different colour themes.

If you really want it, I can send the JS, CSS and HTML code to you via email and it will be up to you on where you want to put it in your website.

Thank you.

I would love to use it! My users tend to like choosing colours. Female crowds are hard to please ;)

billyf

Hi Revelation0,

Can you please send an email to me via my TF profile page? I can’t send it to you at the moment. Also, do note that the colour changer is not backed by cookies, so it will return to the default (blue) whenever the page is refreshed or loaded).

Thank you.

Hi BillyF, A quick question: What class/style do I have to assign a tile if I always want it to look like it is being hovered? Is this possible at all?

billyf

Hi Revelation0,

While there is no such class available by default, you can copy the style for .tile:hover and make a new class for it so that it can be applied to the other tiles.

Hope that helps.

Thank you.
