Hi, first of all awesome looking theme I did have one question and I am pretty sure you answered it in a previous comment but I wanted to make sure.

What I am wondering is are the tiles based off post entries and thus you are not able to put actual widget inside the tiles such as Twitter or Facebook ? (unless the widget has a short code)

Thanks in advance!

Hi scottbeckman,

Thanks for your interest in my theme! Yes, they are based off posts but you can use them to link to other links as well (without the lightbox). However, they cannot show widgets unless you modify the codes to put a widget into a tile, even shortcodes will not be processed in the lightbox or the tile.

If you still have any questions, feel free to contact me again.

Thank you.

hi Billy,

Very beautiful theme. I may buy this theme very soon! Anyway, can you help me to show the search button at the top of the theme? Or do I have to do it by myself? I am not a savvy programmer though..

Thanks in advance, Aji

billyf

Hi Aji,

Thanks for your interest in my theme! I can add the code to display a search box at the top for you (but no styling, just the default input box). Otherwise, if you want it to be styled nicely, I’m afraid you might need to get someone to do it if you’re not sure how to do it.

If you still have any questions, feel free to contact me again.

Hello, Thank you for this amazing theme. This is one purchase I did not regret!

I need help fixing my header. I am trying to decrease the distance between the menu bar and the Title. There is a big gap and I can’t find a way to decrease it.

I can email you a screenshot if possible.

Hi kalamm1,

Thanks for purchasing my theme, I’m glad you like it!

Regarding your question, you may use the following code in Appearance > Theme Options > Custom Style :
#container{
padding-top:10px;
}

That will change the gap to 10px.

Thank you.

Thank you for the reply, but unfortunately that did not work

billyf

Hi kalamm1,

Sorry, I thought you meant the gap above the header. If you want to reduce the gap between the menu and the website name (in my live preview, the space between menu and ‘Matrix’), you may use the following code :
nav{
float:left;
margin-left:10px;
}
Just adjust the margin to alter the distance.

Thank you.

Hi Billy!

I work for a university and I am considering purchasing this theme for our departmental website. I do have a few questions -

Ultimately I would like to be able to have the majority of the tiles link to information pages on our programs, as well as one or two devoted to recent posts and widgets like facebook. I get the impression from reading through the comments that this is possible, but I just wanted to confirm.

Secondly, is it possible to customize the icon of each tile to correspond to either the picture or text associated with each page/post?

And lastly, as I have never purchased a theme like this before, are there recurring costs, or simply the $45 license fee upfront?

Thanks so much for your time, Best, Allen

billyf

Hi Allen,

Thanks for your interest in my theme! Yes, it is possible to link to any post / URL through the tiles. You just need to create a new post as usual, upload its tile image (this applies to your second question) and set the post format as ‘Link’ to insert the URL to be redirected to.

However, if you want to add tiles which are devoted to recent posts / widgets, you will need to customize the code or hire a developer to do that because by default, the theme only displays the most recent posts in tiles (1 tile for each post).

As for the fee of purchase, it is a one-time $45 fee for regular license which can only be used for 1 website / domain name. Basic theme support is included for theme bugs or problems regarding existing features in the theme, but extra charges may be required if I need to customize the theme or solve some problems caused by features not included in the theme’s purchase via ThemeForest.

If you still have any questions, feel free to contact me again.

Thank you.

Thanks so much for your quick reply! I just have a couple more questions.

Reading through the theme details it seems like the tile size can be customized. Is this customizable per item or by category? (i.e. all post tiles are medium, all page link tiles are large, etc…)

Also, am I correct in assuming that the rest of our (WordPress created) pages and content will be retained and linkable through the new interface?

Lastly, In the past I have had issues with our current customized theme when updating our WordPress version. While I know its not so cut and dry, overall do issues seem to come up when updating?

Again, thanks so much for your time. Best regards.

billyf

Hi acfreese,

You’re welcome. The tile size at the homepage can be controlled individually, but for all archive tiles (category, search result etc.), they will share a uniform tile size as set at the Theme Options unless you manually modify the codes at those relevant files to override the settings.

As for links, yes, a tile can be redirected to any URL as long as that post itself is set to ‘Link’ post format and contains a valid URL in the relevant field. Any posts created prior to activating the theme will not have a tile, so you will need to upload an image or assign a tile colour and update the post to make it visible at the homepage.

While I can’t make any guarantees about whether there will be issues after updating WordPress to the latest version, it is advisable to keep using the current version until the version compatibility has been updated. Sometimes there are major changes which can break some parts of the theme, but so far it has only occurred once to this theme between version 3.2 and 3.9.

If there’s still any queries, don’t hesitate to contact me again.

Thank you.

Hello,

I have one question you probably answered in a previous comments, but I wanted to make sure. Is there any way to add another tile called “xlarge” with dimensions 630×310 px to extisting 3 tiles dimensions? And also be able to show extisting tiles corectly with the new one?

Thanks for help.

billyf

Hi trofl123,

Yes, it is possible but it requires a lot of code changes in style.css and functions.php, the former to create the styles whereas the latter to add the new tile support into the theme’s backend. The dimension is just right, so it can fit nicely into the grid of tiles.

Thank you.

Hi – First let me say that I love this theme. I have one question, is there a setting where I can change the number of tiles that display on the main blog page? It seems to be limited to 10 not matter what size the tiles are.

Thanks Bernie

billyf

Hi Bernie,

Thanks for purchasing my theme, I’m glad you love it! You can change the number of tiles to be displayed at Settings > Reading > Blog pages show at most.

Thank you.

Thanks – I knew it had to be something simple and I was just missing it.

Hi…

Is it possible to show the post title in the top right corner of each tile… let´s say white font on black background?

billyf

You can change it at Appearance > Theme Options > General Settings > Archive Tile Type (I’m not sure how are those written in German). You can select ‘List’ to use blog list instead (the first choice).

Thanks.

I see… I have to upload an image for tile, another for archive list thumbnail and another for the single post. They are not automatically resized I think. Well.. ok. thank you

billyf

Yes, the homepage tile uses an image and if the archive tile is not of the same size, it is advisable to upload another one (otherwise it will use the front tile image if nothing is uploaded for archive tile image). These are not automatically cropped from the larger featured image because only the author knows what looks the best, and they might want different images under different sizes or areas.

It’s nearly impossible to come up with a solution which fits everyone’s need, which is why I think the current approach offers the most flexibility and not too tedious. You can create a post which has no image at all because the homepage tile and archive list / tile can load the built-in tile customizer as created when you create a post (solid colour with an icon), if that is how you want it to look.

Thank you.

Hi – I love this theme – But I am having one more problem that I just can’t get figured out. My archives show blank posts – at first I thought it was because we had an older blog that we converted, now I am not sure why this is happening. No matter what I do I can’t seem to get rid of them.

Here is an example: http://www.bertinastudio.com/bstudioblog/2014/08/

Thanks Bernie

billyf

Hi Bernie,

Do you mean those posts which are categorized as ‘Uncategorized’? I’m not sure where did they come from but they are under /feeds/items/.. (if you look at the URL). There is probably some plugins or backend modifications which caused that problem because the theme will never alter the way posts are created or saved in WordPress.

I would suggest you to disable all plugins and see whether the problem persists, and enable one-by-one to identify the culprit.

Thank you.

Thanks – I’ll try that and see if it works. Right now the current posts are showing up correctly without the UnCategorized blank – non -existent posts.
