The jQuery version of the stock drupal 1.7 install uses jQuery version 1.2. This may lead to inconsistencies in the Nivo slider. To fix this, all you have to do is download the latest version of jQuery here and replace the old jquery file at the [root]/misc folder of your Drupal install.
