I want my blog posts to go in the categories under blog and they are not showing up there.

Let me clarify this: the regular posts will show up on your portfolio and there’s a custom post type called “news” that will correspond the entries that on the preview are under the blog section.

- homepage slider bug: first slide stays empty (white) there is always one more slide showed than existing! - homepage slider caption text (title + txt) doesnt show up in homepage slider anymore!

You should be able to export them to a XML file and then make some changes so that their post type is merc_news.
There are some plugins that might help you: just google wordpress convert post type

Now everything is still blank, i think it has to do these messages from the bottom of my WordPress Theme page: PSD _files Stylesheet is missing.
Please turn off all the plugins you might have active and refresh the page.
Once more it’s better that you send me an email using my profile page, because this is an issue with your server or plugins.

I have a question – this is my first time using Wordpress so I’m not sure if I am doing something wrong or what.
I added the tag cloud widget to my left sidebar at http://qwirkdesign.com. However, when I click on a tag, it simply displays all of my portfolio posts instead of showing only the ones associated with that tag.
Is the tag cloud incompatible with Mercina or am I being a dummy or… something else?

Hi,
The problem is that the theme supports natively categories and you are using tags. Also, looks like these pages that open are calling a template-portfolio.php file instead of the archives.php page. You should find a way to “say” to this cloud that you only want to show categories.

My intentions were to use the categories only for “Design” and “Photography” to quickly sort the portfolio posts. I was ALSO hoping to use the tags to filter on more specific criteria, such as the year I created a piece, or the type of piece it is, such as “logo” or “business card.” This is by no means a necessity, but I thought it would be nice to have.
So, I would truly like the cloud to filter based on tags rather than categories. I have used the built-in tag cloud widget and have since tried a few others but I get the same results. I am not sure how to get the tag links to properly show only posts related to that tag. It is fine with me if the tag-filtered posts do not show up in the Portfolio template, but I have no idea how to change what the tags link to or how that page is displayed.
Any help would be appreciated, but I understand if this is outside the scope of the support you want to provide. I am just unclear as to whether I need to alter something in the theme or if I need to learn more about Wordpress itself. Thanks again!

I just created a tag.php file so that when you click on a tag you’ll go to that page. Send me a message through my profile page and I’ll send you the file. All you have to do after that is upload this page to the Mercina Theme root folder.

Great theme, however I have a problem with the featured image in the posts. Like the theme you show on your site, I want my featured image to be a Youtube/Vimeo video. However, when I try to upload a video to the featured image via URL it doesn’t allow me. Instead it creates a text link in the text section.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks

Hi,
The featured image (thumbnail) must always be an image. If you want to jump to the second image when you click on it (prettyphoto lightbox opens) you have to remove the option “Use featured image on slideshow and Prettyphoto Lightbox? ” inside the Mercina Custom Post Options Panel.

If you want to use three images for the news feed just leave blank the “Left block title” and “Left block body” input textfields under Mercina Options>Homepage Tab. The theme will detect that there’s no content to display on the left and it will fetch an extra entry.
The arrows on the right are text and their aspect depends on the fonts you use. You can replace them with some images or you can use a special font for them. You should be able to do everything by adding some extra CSS to the Custom CSS textfield under Mercina Options>General Tab.

my site is totally done, but when I pointed it to my domain name the font changes from bebas nue to something else. I found that it only does that in firefox though. Is it something wrong with firefox or is it something I can fix though wordpress? Thanks in advance!

Maybe your font wasn’t uploaded correctly to your server. That font is included with the theme so make sure the includes/fonts was properly uploaded. This font renders perfectly on Firefox (it’s also used on the theme preview).

Yeah its weird because when I preview my site through wordpress on firefox it works fine, but when I go to my actual domain name it changes. I’ll look into the fonts though. Thanks!

Looks like you have a timthumb resize image script error. It must have to do with the folder permissions. Please check the FAQ page of this theme or try to follow the steps indicated here: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/fullscreen-theme-thumbnails-problem

How do i categorize the news items? I do not have the news categories like the video shows.. i have already placed the subjects on the news items, but cant add it to the menu. thank you
Hi, From your Dashboard Go to Appearance>Menus and add them from the Subjects Window on the left side (should appear at the very bottom). If you can’t see it make sure it’s selected from the Screen Options on the top right corner of the same page.

I want to keep the link buttons light on the dark background, but the grey font on white blog background makes the readability difficult sometimes. Thanks so much!
You can use the Custom CSS textfield under Mercina Options>General Tab for that. Something like this should do the trick:

Hi again mate! I’m trying to figure out the PrettyPhoto plugin, and how it is integrated with your theme since your 2nd newest update. I have only just figured out that putting rel=”prettyPhoto” assigns that picture/video to the prettyphoto lightbox, but I’m still questioning how it puts all the images in that blog entry into one multi-image lightbox, etc..the help text on the prettyphoto plugin settings is a little cryptic to me, are there any quick tips you can give me, or a guide somewhere you can direct me to?

I don’t know what do you want to do, but you also have some good working examples here. You can see their code too.
Also, I notice that on your live preview, some of your portfolio entries (eg, the first one) have a video icon as the lightbox button, and clicking it plays the video in a lightbox! How do you do this? I can’t find a way to make the featured image a video. Sorry for the many questions.

When editing a post on the Mercina Custom Post Options Panel you can remove the ticker from “Use featured image on slideshow and Prettyphoto Lightbox?”. This will make the lightbox and the single page slider jump the featured image (in this case the featured image is only used as a thumbnail).
