No problem for the report, and it’s a great theme with lots of features. It’s pretty new.. a few bugs is expected. It’s all good.

I should mention I did use the !important attribute in both boxes.

I’m currently building on a localhost so I was hoping it was just a matter of changing a little code.

If that isn’t possible, I’ll have to wait until I upload the site and will get back to you when I do.

Thanks for the fast response by the way.

Hi Chris,

Again, thanks very much. You may wish to use something like the following, it might help you out:

inner_logo_and_menu #logo img{height: 60px !important;}

friendlythemes

#inner_logo_and_menu #logo img{height: 60px !important;}

Hey Guys.. just to let you know.. the solution worked. Thanks a bunch. I never even though to try css. I set width and height according to my image.

Where is the support forum?

friendlythemes

Hi captainzank, thanks very much for purchasing Mercury. We’re working very hard to get some support forums online, but we’re closing watching what Envato are going to do (as there are rumours they are about to roll out ‘proper’ support forums, rather than comment threads like these). For the time being, please send support requests to support@friendlythem.es and we’ll do our very best to get back to you with as much expediency as we can.

Again, thanks!

Hi ameraclean,

We’ve replied to your e-mail. It sounds like you’re trying to use the entire zip file package – which includes the PSDs and Help Files rather than the theme. We’ve sent you an e-mail with a link with instructions on how to install a WordPress theme.

Thanks for purchasing Mercury :)

Looks very good. But The design of the navigation in a mobile environment is not so nice.

I should like to be as at the top with pages:

Menu (arrow down) : Clicking does produce a vertical menu:

Item 1
Item 2 > on click: subitems
Item 3

The design is then more consistent. And Menu is easier to understand the navigation.

The idea not to show the complete menu is a good decision. Otherwise you always has to scroll.

Will be this a possible enhancement in the near future?

friendlythemes

Hi hansinke,

At mobile sizes, the menu turns into a ‘dropdown’ which different phones render differently. For example, on an iPhone you get the native ‘spinner’. This is the most accessible way to have large menus on mobile phones.

We do show the complete menu for mobiles.

My point being here, you can’t have a dropdown menu that functions in the way that you suggested above. It would certainly be possible to achieve that with extra javascript and is something we’ll consider as an enhancement.

Thanks for the great questions – it’s good see people using the mediaqueries to see that you get a fully-optimised site for mobiles all built in :)

At the first glance: a good and easy to use theme. But I am missing at least a shortcode for video. Also it should be nice to have the possibility to add a few lines as an intro for a portfolio. A lot of themes has more possibilities but the wysiwyg and adaptive options are good. I hope on further enhancements!

friendlythemes

Hi hansinke, thanks for the comments and of course, thanks for purchasing Mercury. As you can tell we’re active developers so we’re continually improving our products.

A video shortcode seems like a massive amount of overkill to us – There are fantastic plugins that do a much better job than a shortcode ever could – we recommend Viper’s Video Quicktags.

As for adding content to the portfolio home page, that’s a really good idea. We’ll add that in a future release.

Thanks!

hi )

plugin Advanced spoiler does not work on the front page … it is possible to fix it?

friendlythemes

Hi dullysky,

Please can you give us the error you are getting with this plugin and we’ll try and help.

Sorry for slow reply, Richard (half of FriendlyThemes) is moving house – a pain!

Thanks!

In my portfolio I have either 1 image but also ‘galleries’ of paintings that I like to display in a gallerific (preferred) or galleryview way. So on mobile I see the selected thumb ‘big’ but can easy skip to another. What is good solution / plugin in relation to the adaptive constraints?

And I am very pleased about the quick response(s)!

friendlythemes

Hi hansinke, thanks for buying Mercury. Unfortunately, we don’t know of any plugins that can do what you require that work within an adaptive layout. If we see anything, we’ll let you know.

Thanks again!

Where can I enter ‘orderby’ => ‘rand’ or something like it to make the portfolio items load randomly?

friendlythemes

You’ll be able to do that in loop-portfolio-main.php :)

Hi i’ve bought the theme, when i installed it on localhost, it tells me that version is 1.0.0 and that upadte is avaible. I’ve just download it form themeforest server ? Weird thing isn’t it !!!

friendlythemes

Hi! Thanks for buying Mercury, we really appreciate it. We’re investigating why that’s happening, but rest-assured, if you have just downloaded it that you have the latest version. We’re trying to work out why the custom notifier is giving a ‘false positive’ as it were.

Thanks again and we’ll keep people updated.

jquery 1.4.2 loaded… In the theme is an old jquery loaded. I am busy to make a plugin which requires jquery 1.6.4. I did modify the theme to avoid double jquery versions. Maybe an idea for a future version to upgrade to the newer jquery?

friendlythemes

Hi hansinke, The version of jq we included in the theme was there for the overlay script we used. In the future, we’ll be using a different approach. Thanks!

I like to use on my homepage: - a slider that goes to my free work and portfoliopage.

On my portfoliopage I want an overview of my portfolio items and the option of selecting the categories.

As far as I can see is that an overview of the portfolio only can be made on the homepage and that case I have a slider above it.

I should like to have the option (in the shortcode) to add the possibility to add a portfolioverview. And also the possibility to select 1 or more categories. In that case I even have the option to split my free work from the commercial ones (I am now thinking to do that with a special posttype).

Thanks for your responses so far.

I already discoverd now that filling the portfolio items also generates the correct portfolio page. The option for selections is still usefull.

I am still discovering… and hope to go live in next week!

How can I tell if I have the most current update? I downloaded yesterday, installed it and when I go to theme options, it says there is an update available. Also, you mention that you added the availability to download only the theme and not everything else – how do I do that? My downloads page has one link and it is over 200 MB.

friendlythemes

Hi Shelgies, If you’ve downloaded the theme within the last 2 weeks, you will have the latest version (v1.1.1). We will be updating the theme next week. ThemeForest doesn’t currently allow for only the theme to be downloaded, although we believe this is in the schedule for release soon.

Many thanks for buying Mercury!

If you update the theme, please don’t put friendly_slider.js and friendly_slider_effeccts.js on folders inc and root. Don’t see the purpose of multiply versions en sames files. And maybe create a #dev folder where you put the -unmin.js and unmin.css files. Put the doubt when editing them.

God bless friendlythemes. This is great. Congratulation for all your hard work.

I have a few questions:

1) Do you list the 50 shortcodes somewhere? (written down) 2) How I can create a classic form (name, email etc) to the contact page? 3) I’ve been struggling to make the holding page to work and I couldn’t. I create a new page, I use the holding template and I set it up as a front page(reading). Also I tried to use the demo holding page and it didn’t work too. Any thoughts? 4) I’m trying to change h5 and h3 to the home page by using the typography to the theme options and is not working. I use important and also I added my own google font to the header.php instead of using the custom font loading.

Thank you

friendlythemes

Hi christakis666, thanks for the lovely comments, really appreciate it and, of course, thank you very much for buying Mercury.

As you seem to have a few issues, it’d probably be easier if you send us a quick e-mail with detailed descriptions of what isn’t quite working the way you expect – if you could be really specific and, if necessary include some screenshots, that’d be awesome.

Thanks very much!

The theme doesnt look right for me .I installed it, activated it and the logo is gigantic, and pixelated. All of the pages dont show any of the sample content, (i choose that option in the setup).

Help.

Thanks kitti

Hi klakner, thanks for buying Mercury, we really appreciate it. Can you send us a link to your site so we can see what’s not quite working. Fire it over to support@friendlythem.es

Thanks!

Is there a way to get the social icons in the footer widget to open the links in a new page.

Thanks

friendlythemes

Hi jennzforest, thanks for buying Mercury. To get links to open in a new window, you’ll need to add target=”_new” to your links.

Hope that helps :)

jennzforest

Hi, this doesn’t work in the widget container when adding the friendly social media widget to the footer section as its an invalid link, do I need to manually code these links into the section to have them open in a new window?

Can you also tell me where I can change the font colours of all the headings on the site and the text in the footer / widget sections?

Thanks

friendlythemes

Ah apologies, I misunderstood your request. You could write some javascript which targets the links in the area where you have placed the widget which automatically adds the target=”_new”. We’ll consider adding the ability to the widget in the future.

I’ve also a bit of trouble with the sliders not working and the little thumbs not opening into the lightbox on the most recent post header picture …

friendlythemes

Can you send us an e-mail with a link to where you are having the problem? support@friendlythem.es

We’ll see what we can do!

Thanks again.

This theme has very strong points, but also some little problems. Most of them I could resolve. To mention a few: - Link to home is not consistent (site_url and home_url) - Some inefficiencies in the breabcrumb part - An image in the demo is not in the theme but in a dropbox file

What I could not solve: - Resizing did works in version 1.0.0 but gives now problems. I did resolve it combining a mix of the both versions. -Shortcode works not on my homepage anymore. I make another page and copy/paste the code.

For me the good bonus is that the adaptive layout works good. But I should like to discuss some points more in detail. Now I had really too much trouble with upgrading.

Anyway, these guys try do make a good theme and hope it will be even better in future.

friendlythemes

Hi hansinke,

We use many images on dropbox to save bandwidth costs (as all TF authors have to host the themes themselves and the amount of traffic is huge) – many authors use CDNs like dropbox to make their demos work as fast as possible for people viewing them.

Which part of ‘resizing’ doesn’t work for you? Can you elaborate on that for us?

The upgrading process isn’t in our control – we had a problem with our custom notifier which told you, incorrectly, that an update was available when it wasn’t – that’s now fixed in 1.2. We’ve also added in a custom updater which can allow some people to update just the theme from their WordPress dashboard, and not have to download the whole package from TF.

On top of that, the theme is now fully child-themeable which means that you can make adjustments to the theme safe in the knowledge that when you update, you wont lose your changes.

Not sure what you mean by inefficiencies in the breadcrumbs. If you could explain that via e-mail, we’d really like to discuss that. Plus, we’ve given the option not to use breadcrumbs, so you could use a plugin for those if you’d like?

Again, thanks for the comments!
