Common WordPress Installation Issues
Missing style sheet error when installing the theme
A common issue that can occur with users new to installing WordPress themes is a “Broken theme and/or stylesheets missing” error message being displayed when trying to upload or activate the theme. This error message does not mean that the theme you have purchased is broken, it simply means it has been uploaded incorrectly. Luckily, there is a very easy fix.
Frequently Asked Questions
I’m missing some options, I can only see a few in ‘Theme Options’, where are the rest?
There are only a few basic options in the ‘Theme Options’ panel found under ‘Appearance > Theme Options’, the remainder of styling is done in the ‘WP Customizer’ which you’ll find by going to ‘Appearance > Themes’ and clicking ‘Customize’ next to your active Metrolium theme.
The reason why the styling options are not in the admin panel (Theme Options) is because with the WP Customizer you will see a real time preview of your changes as you make them. So, colors, fonts, font sizes, background colors and so on will all update instantly without page reload and without needing to switch tabs back and forth (the old boring way). =)
I’m getting a PHP parse errorPHP Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_FUNCTION in /path/to/your/public_html/wp-content/themes/Metrolium/backend/custom-post-types/custom-post-types.php on line 147
Please update your Metrolium version, we added backwards compatibility for older versions of PHP in Metrolium v1.1. Metrolium now works with PHP 5.2 and above.
My issue isn’t listed here, how can I get support?
We really appreciate each and every sale and the support you guys show and believe us when we tell you that we’re here for you beyond your purchase date.
If you’re experiencing any issues, we have a dedicated support forum.
Once you’re registered (you’ll need your item purchase code) please first use the search form at the top of the forum to see if your question has already been asked and resolved, this really helps us to spend less time answering the same questions and spend that time on developing new and improved features and future themes for you all.
If you can’t find an answer to your problem, ask away and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can. Technically our support hours at Monday-Friday 9:00am – 6:00pm (GMT) but in all honesty, we’re a little addicted to our jobs (it’s what we love to do) and we’re often available to answer questions outside of these days and hours, although it’s obviously not always possible but we’ll do our best.
Lastly, please don’t send us email requests for support or requests via our profile page. It’s not because we’re trying to be difficult but we will only direct you to the support forum to post your question if you do. The reason behind this is that it allows us to keep a running conversation history with you and also continues to expand on the wealth of information available on the forum which will likely be helpful to another user at some point and save us time in answering the same questions over and over. We hope you understand and look forward to speaking to you on the forum! =)
