Hi there

I was wondering if there is a way to disable comments on the portfolio page. I don’t need them there

And second, no matter what size I set the picture in the portfolio it is huge on the actual website. I don’t need this big picture. How can I have a small preview and only a small pic. It Is about copywriting and the small image is oly supposed to be a little company logo not a huge pic

Can you help me out with those 2 things? Thanks :)

And I managed to disable the comments but now it says Comments are closed. At the bottom Which is just as stupid

Hey there,

The portfolio locks the width to a certain size (590px), if your image is taller, it will let it be taller, try uploading an image that is wider than it is tall. Beyond that, you will need to alter the portfolio page template.

http://curtziegler.com/sitedemo/wordpress-minimal/?page_id=10

Adding this to the CSS will remove the no comments notification.

.nocomments { display: none; }

I have another question. Where I’d u get the icon set on the homepage , I like the person and the checklist icon and. Would like o use more icons like that so they all have the same style. Coulda send me a link where u ot them from. Thanks :)

cudazi

Those were just custom made, I’d look at iconfinder.com, a great icon resource. Thanks!

Great theme – I’m having an issue with the Portfolio page thumbnails. I can’t seem to get the preview picture on the portfolio page to show. The readme says to set one of the uploaded media files to the thumbnail for the post, but whenever I upload a file to it, I am not allowed to set the size or anything for the image. I’ve tried using all different sized images including setting one to the same size as your example.

Any ideas how to get it working?

Thanks, really love the theme!

cudazi

I would just be sure the image is as large as possible. Also, you may want to test on a blank install somewhere in case your media settings are somehow off as well. Thanks!

Thanks for the reply! Can you confirm that the picture uploaded into the media gallery needs to be set to “Thumbnail”?

Default-user

Figured it out. The image I uploaded was a bitmap and not a jpeg.

Thank you!

Hi cudazi, great template. I do love it. I have some questions:

a) I downloaded your template months ago, now I’ve read there’s a newer version. How can I get it? How can be automatically notified about new version of this template?

b) I’m using your template for a 2 language website so I need to publish Portfolio items twice, one for each language. Because of the template image function, I should upload the same image twice. How can I upload one image and still use it for different Portfolio thumbnails?

Thanks,

cudazi

Hey there,

A – Twitter is the best bet for now twitter.com/cudazi

B – Try the “Portfolio Basic Template” page template. Your portfolio posts can then have a custom field of “image” (no quotes) and the value can be any image url, just be sure to resize the image manually first.

Thanks!

a) Twitter it’s ok for updates about newer version. But where can I download newer version of it and how can I update it without losing what I already did?

Thanks.

cudazi

The theme can always be re-downloaded from your downloads tab and just upload/activate the new theme for the latest version.

Is 1.3 the latest version available?

cudazi

Correct. You can always re-download from your downloads tab at any time.

Hello,

I just purchased your theme and have been customizing some things. A few questions:

1. I don’t want the posts to appear on the home page. Is it okay if I just removed the PHP code on the home page? IE will the site still function properly? It’s looks right, but I’m not sure it’s optimal. I removed it from the page_home.php file.

2. How do I change the width of the entire site? I want to align the headers/columns with the navbar menu.

Thanks!

cudazi

Hey there – I’m not sure what you mean by posts on the home page, the posts are a custom widget you drag/drop into the sidebar. For the main “promos” you can just leave the “Active” checkbox un-checked in the theme settings page and they will be hidden. For 2, I can’t get into free customizations, only support but I’ll point you in the right direction, in style.css look for a CSS class of .contentwidth. – Thanks!

How can I modify a Category page?

Thanks.

cudazi

Actually, index.php is handling the archive views as well so you may want to duplicate and create a category page:

http://codex.wordpress.org/Category_Templates

or add conditional tags for specific things in index.php:
http://codex.wordpress.org/Conditional_Tags#A_Category_Page

Quick Question does the new version allow you to use the new wordpress menu option?

cudazi

The theme still auto-creates pages without the v3 style menu system. (The parent/child relationship is what creates the sub menu as needed vs the drag/drop)

Why sidebar-blog widgets show up in portfolio page?

How can I just modify the portfolio sidebar?

Thanks

cudazi

You can gain even more control over widget locations with a plugin – Widget Logic or Widget Context – Thanks!

I recently purchased this theme and I’m curious how I can have multiple categories use the Portfolio display setting. I noticed in the settings you can only choose one. Do I have to edit a specific file in order to be able to do this? Thank you!

cudazi

In the 8.2011 theme update txt file you can override this:

Portfolio Basic Template
Portfolio Template

On the two above, you can override the default portfolio category ID by entering a custom field called categories with a value of the ID’s of the categories you want to include. ex: 12,4

I also want to add that nothing I can do seems to make timthumb.php to work. I keep getting this error:

A TimThumb error has occured

The following error(s) occured: Could not find the internal image you specified.

Even though the path that it’s trying to look for works on its own when I put it in my browser. So frustrating!

cudazi

Please be sure you’re running the latest theme version, you can re-download for free from your downloads tab. In the 10.2009 theme update txt file you can do this:

Added template: Portfolio Basic

This page pulls in posts from the category set in the custom settings page.

Display portfolio images using custom field: image. For the post itself, you can use images as you normally would on a blog post.

I’‘d like to insert taglines in any category page I want, like for posts and pages simply by adding a custom value “tagline” and text.

How can I do this in a category page like http://www.mywebsite.com/category/sample ?

Thanks,

cudazi

You will need to look into WordPress conditionals and add them in functions.php inside the function display_tagline. It’s not a big customization undertaking but is beyond the scope of free support.

Taglines can be customized on a per page or per basis with the current theme.

Contact me via my profile contact form if you would like me to tackle this for you. Thanks!

How can I not show all posts (portfolio+blog posts) in my blog template? By default, blog page show any published post available but it would be nice if it would show all blog posts but those flagged with “Portfolio” category…

cudazi

If you are using the “Blog” page template, that is designed to exclude the portfolio category automatically.

If you change your blog page to the default page template and then set it as the posts page in settings > reading, it should show everything.

Thanks!

My bad, I didn’t described well what I mean. Sure, portfolio items aren’t displayed in blog homepage as you said.

Thing is when I’m in single page of a blog post (the one that can be reached with post permalink), items form portfolio are displayed in the lower navigation menu as normal blog post.

In other words: I’m in the single page of one of my blog post. The lower navigation menu shows me all posts (blog+portfolio).

Question: is it possible to display in single post page just blog posts (no portfolio items)?

Thanks again,

cudazi

Sure thing, in single.php you’ll need to edit two things: previous_post_link and next_post_link.

There are additional settings, including one for “in same category” that you can set to true.

See these pages for your customization needs:

Hello!

First of all, when I upload my own logo for this theme, automatically goes to the center. I want to change that and move my image logo on the left of the page, in order to have a google ads banner on the right side.

1. How can I move the logo on the left side? 2. Where should I place the google ads code, in order to be placed just right of the logo?

I tried to open the .css file and change the classes about logo or logo a etc but nothing happened. Please help me.

Thank you! :-)

cudazi

Hey there – The .logo h1 has a text-align: center applied to it that will need to be removed if you want the logo to be at the left.

I recently attempted to install this theme on my WP 3 .3.1 instance and received an error message. The error said the stylesheet.css was missing however I did not manipulate the .zip file in any way…advice?

cudazi

Please be sure to read the included help file, you’re uploading the incorrect files.

Hi

I have changed the tagline for other pages using the ‘tagline’ custom field. However it doesn’t appear to work for the blog page despite using exactly the same procedure?

Any ideas?

Thanks

cudazi

Contact me via my ThemeForest contact form and I’ll take a closer look – thanks!

Hi there,

I bought your theme and love it. I’m trying to figure out how you did the styling of the two widgets that you’ve got displayed on the demo site. I’m trying to get the alternating row colors in the latest posts widget and then also get the spacing between the images in the social links. Any clues?

Thanks

cudazi

They’re custom widgets/plugins included in the main download file. Thanks!

Default-user

So they are. Didn’t even think to look there. Perfect. Thanks!
