I know and it’s not the end of the world. Just wondered if there was a fix. Thanks for the fast reply anyway.
no problem – there sometimes can be small little issues when viewing in a browser just because of the fact that the modern browsers expect css and divs etc but as we know email is basically based on 10 year old programming methods – but it doesn’t hinder the use or content in any way – thanks for the reply and good luck with your campaign – if I find a fix for the slight issue I will certainly update
hello,
I tried to upload the 1 column “green” campaign monitor version but I got the following error message:
“You need to have either a <$title$> or <$description$> tag in your template. Without either of these, your clients can’t add any content to their emails.”
Is there a way to fix it?
Thanks!
Sounds like you are attempting to make a template for your clients to use – you will need to add code required for this – your email service provider will provide detailed instructions and tags you need to use.
Tags supplied in the campaign monitor version are for you to send – not your clients – you need to include whatever they want you or direct you to include.
Thanks!
We weren’t uploading the template in the right place. Everything is fine now. Thanks!
Opening the template in DW to edit it and input some CM-tags, it’s not showing properly. The CSS doesn’t seem to be working at all.
I uploaded it to CM and it said screen.css is missing? Am I missing something, ‘cause I can’t see it in any of the folders.
Hi – in html email, the css is not contained within the head as email clients strip out that data, we place inline in the body. The template is fully tested in all email clients and will work just fine at CM – again not sure what you mean by dreamweaver not showing it properly? You should never rely on dreamweaver’s preview pane for correct alignment etc of anything, it’s not a browser as such. You should just be looking at the code, as it’s very clean and easy to find where you want to place tags etc. Not sure why you saw a screen.css error from CM – there software doesn’t look for non attached css files – sorry I am not much help but none of it really makes much sense
If you are trying to use this as a client template then you have to change quite a few things, could be that you broke something?
Interested to hear more views on how brand (DW) editable this template is in preparation for Campaign Monitor.
It sure looks nice out of the box!
Hi, not sure I understand the question – everything is editable wether you use dreamweaver or any other editing software – full design is also supplied in layered photoshop for full customization – it already has CM tags for personal sending (on CM specifically supplied templates) – obviously you have more work to do to make it a client template but others have for sure
Hi,
I am working in email marketing business for a long time. Then I found this template and saw the nice background. Wonder how it could work in Outlook2007. Because backgrounds are not supported in this client. But there is an information that it has been tested in Outlook clients. So I bought it and just as I said, it is not working. Same information can be found here: http://www.campaignmonitor.com/css/. The email address of author does not work either. Sorry, but I am very disappointed, cause now I spent some time and money on this template for nothing.
If you are experienced in email templates (like myself – 10years creating for some very large clients) then you will of noticed the disclaimer on this and many other email templates (not just here but everywhere) that state that a template will NOT appear the same in all email clients – you just set a background color for the body – it does not effect the email at all – and also the email address does work – it’s mine
All images are inline not background and yes it’s fully tested by myself using litmus and also by the review team.
Thanks.
Hi Jonathan,
I got a Mail delivery failed for your email address. Background image is not with inline css. It is in head of email: body { background: transparent url(‘img/bground.jpg’) repeat-x top center; margin: 0 0 0 0; padding: 0 0 0 0; }
Outlook2007 does not support background images. Also padding in cells are not shown correctly in 2007. Sorry, but I know what I am talking about. I chose another template for my client. Thanks for your quick response.
I never said the background image was inline – I said all other images are inline – you can’t have a background image inline – I said the background will not appear in outlook 2007 – it degrades gracefully, just as it should – I also know what I am talking about – thanks.
If I could give you 10 stars I would. Thanks for updating to campaign monitor ready!
This may be a dumb question, but I need to design some nice templates for my clients through Constant Contact. Do your templates work with that email client?
Thanks!!
All html templates are just that – basic html email templates and will work with any good provider – depending on your provider they will provide the ability to add their special tags for things like subscribers name / email / unsubscribe link etc – you just paste the code supplied in to the html and upload.
Hope that helps
hi there, do you do freelance? i just would like to make an email with an image that opens to his website and a facebook link when they click the logo for my dads website.
If you interested please let me know asap
hi – just bought this template, thought it was perfect but…
It looked ideal for what I wanted when I viewed the preview on envato, rendered fine in IE then. However when I view the email in any browser after I paid for it, there is alignment issues with the background and it looks bad.
I can see the background not lining up with the image section in Dreamweaver – theres an extra 3 pixels from somewhere – and this replicates in IE,safari, and chrome
However, I thought “i know its because the styles are where they need to be for email, not browsers.” i will ignore it. I happily sent it to a client and they set it up with mailchimp – no problems…
until they mailed it, and people are getting this weird gap too. And the hotmail message I got back has the same weird gap. Seems that the browsers ARE showing some clitches that frankly look awful with the winged background effect on most email browsers too.
any ideas what is causing this glitch?
I would like a solution that makes it easy to edit too – ever tried lining up a new logo panel with a background that moves no matter how much you match the new background?. If you use dreamweaver to increase the height of the logo panel – you will see what I mean – even if you change the background to match, its always 3 pixels longer – agrhhhhh!
Hi as the live preview is the same as the download may I ask if you edited anything before viewing the download – ie did you make any changes possibly that could cause the issue
I can assure you that the template was tested by myself using litmus on all clients and online email solutions and was also checked by envato when submitted so it seems strange this has occurred for you
Please also use the contact form on my profile page for support so I can better assist you – please also provide screen shots of the 3px gap so I can see the issue and also supply the full versions of the browsers including version numbers and current os being used
Many thanks

Jonathan
