on the home page, i am trying to add a custom sidebar (thanks to a widget) beside the static-page section. i have added <?php get_sidebar(); ?> into the template_home page, but cannot get it to align to the top of the static page and to the right – ie – id like it sitting directly under the far right article.
please see http://www.90west.com.au/ as an example – the ‘announcement’
can you please help me with the coding for this.
finally – as much as i will continue to buy your themes – i would prefer to contribute more for your additional support. let me know how i can do this.

hey AJ – i will definitely always buy a new template for any new project – not reuse them – as your support is certainly worth it.
just a quick one – is it possible to format the summarised text at all in the home-template boxes? ie – line breaks, bold, etc?

Which ones? The homepage highlights show all the content in the post so you should be able to. If you mean the portfolio/blog posts you would have to edit the code in includes/home/portfolio.php and includes/home/blog.php to change from <?php echo excerpt(‘15’); ?> to <?php the_excerpt(); ?>
hey AJ – tried that code but doesnt seem to make a difference – also the services.php already had “php the_excerpt(’’); “
on my home page i have the 3 boxes below the slider – these are using the blog.php and the Announcement box is using the services.php
http://www.90west.com.au/notice how the excerpt content text is just a slab – it seems to lose the html formatting from the actual blog / service page. ie – i would like it to keep the same paragraph breaks, bold settings, etc. from the page it links to.
is this possible?

Oh ok, gotcha.
So instead change the_excerpt() to the_content() and then use the more tag to split the post where you want.

hello…purchased your theme…awesome so far. i created the site on a test server and ported it over to the production server. i did a clean install of wordpress and uploaded your theme. all went well. i then imported the pages/content/blog etc xml file and on the production server, the homepage layout manager does not work. i have removed everything and the tag line, blogs and testimonials still appear. please help. thanks!

The theme doesn’t jQuery for the sidebar menu for child links. If you require this you’ll need to incorporate it yourself. Maybe this will help:

Hi there also I imported the sample data and nothing really shows up. No images no navigation menu, nothing.
Any idea that Im doing wrong here?
It’s possible your server had issues importing the data. Did you make sure to select “download attachments” when doing the import?
The menu when adding sample data is always added to the menu section, but one still need to select the menu locations as these aren’t included in the .xml export file.

Sorry about the post I got most of all the problems fixed. I am still having two issues.
1. For some reason my homepage appears at the address of : http://theoccondoteam.com/?page_id=578 but I would like it to appear at http://theoccondoteam.com but all i get is the current posts. Any idea on how to fix this?i tried looking through the menu to see if my settings were wrong. I went into the theme settings and couldnt see anything wrong.
2. When I change the tag colors in the settings they dont take effect.
1. Under – Setting -> Reading, set your front page to a static page and select the homepage.
2. The code is being added correctly in the header. Do you mind seeing if the color changes work with the tags on the sidebar? I think its a footer issue.
Ok the Tags on the side bar are working fine and respond to the color change. The ones at the footer do not respond.
Your level of support is fantastic. Just wanted to through that in there.

It’s impossible to remove the slug from a custom post type in WordPress without some crazy “hacks”. You can change the rewrite parameter in functions.php so that it says something different, but removing it completely is not a good idea (although somewhat possible if you do a Google search) but highly UN-recommended.

Not really sure what you mean… a cycle slider where? and which one?

These go to the portfolio posts. If you wish to change it you will either have to customize the template files or use a 301 redirect for your portfolio post.

Quick question – I apologize if it’s a repost, I searched but could not find anything.
I added the blog functionality – it looks great, however the left sidebar that I put for the blog now shows up on all my other posts as well.
Not sure what I am doing wrong, or is it designed so that the left sidebar shows up on all posts (even ones not in the blog category)?

Correct, the left sidebar is for all blog posts. If you require further sidebar management functions there are some great free WordPress plugins for creating multiple sidebars to use throughout your site. You might want to check out the repo:

Thanks for a great theme. I have 2 questions that I need help with;
1. I am using moderno as a theme and have created a child theme of it. I randomly get a 404 message on most of my pages or it doesn’t display any of the content within the page except from the header.(I have not made any changes to these pages) When I change the theme I am using from the child theme to the original then change it straight back to to the child theme it fixes the problem and I can see everything (no 404 message). I was wondering why this keeps happening and what a possible permanent solution would be?
2. I am trying to create a sidebar for the blog template only (all other pages use the same sidebar structure). So when I view the blog I want the right sidebar to change to a different sidebar structure. e.g. display recent posts, categories and archive instead of displaying a custom menu. I want to know how I would go about doing this?

1. I think it’s a WordPress bug. When you switch over to the child theme try re-saving your permalink structure and see if it fixes it.
2. You might want to check out a sidebar plugin. There are tons of free ones that allow for multiple sidebars. Have a look on the repository:

Great Theme – very good! Quick question, how do I insert my own custom background via CSS without using Theme Options Background picker. Not sure under what class i need to put it, so it would overwrite theme options. I want one large image not repeated and scrollable.

I am really enjoying the theme, thank-you. I seem to be having an issue with my portfolio section, it keeps including thumbnails in the side section. How do I insert the gallery correctly to prevent this or am I doing it entirely incorrectly? I wish for it to load only the slider on the left with only the copy on the right.

The shortcodes are mentioned in the documentation files. But basically it would look like this:

Duh! Sorry.
Every time I install any plugin that adds shortcodes, just activating it breaks the theme. Currently I’m trying to use the WPSubscribers plugin and just activating it causes the header image to not load, sitewide.
I also tried WPshortcodemagic and it breaks the entire thing into garble. What’s going on?
It’s hard to know without actually looking at the site and seeing what sort of errors are showing up. Obviously there is some sort of conflict with the plugins you are trying to use. You can open a ticket at wpthemehelp.com for further support. But I can’t really help you with the little info provided.
