Hi Jan,

I’ve been using your theme for over a year and am very happy with it, but I have come across a question for you that I haven’t been able to find an answer for by searching through the comments.

I’ve been trying do either of these two things…

- Make a second portfolio page that in order to view the portfolio items, one has to enter a password to view them.

- Or make a new portfolio item in my current gallery that you have to enter a password for to view the items.

Ideally I would like to do the first thing, and I’ve tried to set up both and have clicked on the password protected option and set up a password, but the items are still visible to everyone and it’s not asking for a password to view, so I must be doing something wrong.

If you can offer any solutions that would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!!

janintia

Hello mischi81,

Thank you, I’m glad that you’re satisfied with the theme. :)

Here’s a fix for you that will solve the password protect for the portfolio page:

1.) Download this text file -> http://pastelfriday.com/dropbox/portfolio.txt

2.) Open the text file and then copy all text. 3.) Then head on to your Morphis theme folder wp-content/themes/morphis/ and open the portfolio.php file and replace all texts with the one you copied from the downloaded portfolio.txt file.

Thank you so much Jan! It worked perfectly!! Just another quick question, when my site updates to the latest version of your theme, will I need to update the portfolio.php file each time? Or will the fix be retained. Thank you again, you’re such a great help!

janintia

Hello mischi81,

As of the current version of the theme (2.0.1), you will still need to update the portfolio.php also after you update your current theme version. But, on the next theme update (2.0.2), the fix will be integrated with the portfolio.php, so you won’t need to update each time your portfolio.php file.

is there a way to sort the portfolio alphabetically??? or how can i order the way the portfolio items display on the portfolio page ? they always appear random order ?

janintia

Hello feraud54,

On your WordPress dashboard, navigate under Portfolio > Sort Portfolio Items sub-menu. From there, you can drag and drop the portfolio items to order them by your preference.

Or if you want to order them alphabetically, you need to edit the portfolio.php file under wp-content/themes/morphis/ folder. From that file, search for this line of code:

'orderby' => 'menu_order',

And then, replace it with this one:

'orderby' => 'title',

Hello,

How do you exclude the category box (The one on the right hand side of the page on the individual portfolio pages)?

I have tried adding this code to my custom css but it isn’t working, the box is still there:

portfolio-filter {

display: none; }

The website I am working on can be found here: http://www.fratellisaraceni.com/new

One of the portfolio item pages where I would like to take away the category box: http://fratellisaraceni.com/new/portfolios/super-tuscan-igt-orange-selection/

Thank you, the theme is beautiful and just what I needed!

Mollie

The code I added disappeared, this is what I tried: #portfolio-filter { display: none; }

janintia

Hello Mollie,

I love the way your site looks! :) You’ve really customized the look with great detail.

Here’s how you would hide the category box on single portfolio pages:

.portfolio-single .portfolio-meta {
display: none;
}

Hi Jan,

Thank you for your reply and your kind words, the code did work but I am now curious as to how to make the single portfolio pages full width.

Thank you in advance. I appreciate the help!

Mollie

janintia

Hello Mollie,

You can try this Custom CSS code :

#portfolio-single .sidebar-right {
display: none;
}

#portfolio-single .twelve {
width: 100%;
}

Hello,

I am trying to add a lightbox image to a portfolio page. I am using the Wordpress plugin “Simple Lightbox” and it is working just fine on ordinary pages and posts but not on a portfolio page.

Is there a way to allow this to work?

This is one of the portfolio pages I am working on: http://fratellisaraceni.com/new/portfolios/super-tuscan-igt-orange-selection/

Thank you!! Mollie

janintia

Hello Mollie,

Here’s how you would add “Simple Lightbox” to Single Portfolio Page>

1.) Open single-portfolio.php file from wp-content/themes/morphis/ folder.
2.) Search for this line of code:

<p class="portfolio-info-desc"><?php echo wpautop(do_shortcode(get_post_meta($post->ID, '_cmb_info_desc', TRUE))); ?></p>
and then replace it with this:
<?php the_content(); ?>

3.) And then at the functions.php file from wp-content/themes/morphis/ folder, add this at the very end of the file:

function pf_single_portfolio_content( $content ) {
    global $post;

    if ( is_singular( 'portfolio' ) ) {
        return $content . '<p class="portfolio-info-desc">' . wpautop(do_shortcode(get_post_meta($post->ID, '_cmb_info_desc', TRUE))) . '</p>';
    } else {
        return $content;
    }
}
add_filter( 'the_content', 'pf_single_portfolio_content' );

Hello again,

I noticed that the simple lightbox is working on single portfolio pages but when using the portfolio page to open individual items it no longer works. Is there a way to make it work here as well?

After choosing the first portfolio item “Super Tuscan IGT” to open, the ribbon icon should open an image in simple lightbox when clicked.

Thank you again for your support!

Mollie

janintia

Hi Mollie,

Sorry, but unfortunately, the portfolio page uses AJAX to display the content of the portfolio items dynamically. The Simple Lightbox plugin does not work on dynamically loaded AJAX content.

Hi Jan! I’m considering purchasing your beautiful theme for my portfolio, but I have a previous question: is it possible to show several images in one portfolio item? I mean: I click in a portfolio thumbnail, the item page opens and shows differents pics from a same project.

Thanks in advance Nieves

janintia

Hello Nieves,

Yes, there is a “multiple image attachment” option on the Edit Page of the portfolio item where you can create a “gallery” and will display it in the single portfolio page.

Hi. A client bought this theme a while back (I’m just designing his sites) and he recently emailed me saying his site (on Chrome ONLY) no longer lists the text. Doesn’t matter if it’s links or regular text. It just disappears and only seemed to occur after the latest Wordpress update. We have to keep refreshing and only rarely does the text show. This also includes the Wordpress links at the top of the page (when logged in). Headers, main text, etc. is just gone. Works great on Firefox and IE.

It’s a serious issue, as his site is directed towards educators who need to read text.

The version of Morphis he is using is 1.9.3 and he no longer has access to update any recent version (he can’t recall the username/pass for themeforest).

any advice would be greatly appreciated and this is a time-sensitive issue.

thanks kindly for all your work and support.

janintia

Hello editornumb,

I apologize for the delayed response.

This issue is a known Google Chrome bug which does not render Web Fonts correctly as you can see on the link here.

Fortunately, here’s a fix for it:
1.) Open script.js file from wp-content/themes/morphis/js/ folder.
2.) At the very end of the file, add this block of code:

jQuery(document).ready(function($) {
    // fix for web fonts on google chrome
    $('body, p, a, ul li, h1, h2, h3, h4, h5, h6').hide().show();
});

This will force the Google Chrome browser to re-paint and will show the font.

Hi,

My twitter strip is not working. It is on the home page: Website. Twitter account: Twitter account. Please advise

janintia

Hi kathalushka,

Twitter had undergone some changes with the use of their API for retrieving twitter feeds which now requires authentication from the user’s app. This means that the theme now requires some form of authentication before you can use Twitter. I updated the theme to version 2.0.1 (latest) which now has this authentication. So you would need to update your version of the theme to the latest version to be able to use Twitter.

Here are some online guides to help you update the theme and the authentication of Twitter:

1.) Here’s how you would update the theme:
http://kb.pastelfriday.com/morphis/how-to-update-the-theme/.

2.) Here’s how you would authenticate Twitter after updating the theme:
http://kb.pastelfriday.com/morphis/how-to-authenticate-twitter/.

Hi, I have one more question: is it possible to change the proportions of the home slider (CarouFredSel)? My pictures are more panoramic, so the slider is too high for my design.

Thanks, Nieves

janintia

Hello Nieves,

Currently, the proportion of the slider depends on your slider images. The slider will become smaller in height if you have a panoramic-like slide images.

Hi Jan – I got this theme I believe within the first few months after you made it and its been spectacular since – so thank you!

I had a question regarding embeds/shortcodes (not totally clear on all of this still…) and portfolio pages. I want to include a bandcamp embed in various portfolios and so far, it works only when Im on the portfolio page itself. When Im on the portfolio homepage and its doing the ajax thing where it doesnt actually go to the portfolios specific page, the embeds just read as text.

Im not sure if thats clear – if I load the portfolio as a seperate page, the embed loads fine. If I use the ajax portfolio homepage, none of the portfolio embeds work – they appear entirely as text.

Hope to hear from you!

Thanks.

Nevermind – it was a jetpack problem, not a morphis one. Thanks for all the hard work!

Hi Jan,

I’ve just updated the theme to the latest version (from 1.9.5) and the EI Slider is broken, i.e. the slides and captions are not staying in the placeholder. I can’t figure out what is the problem. I would really appreciate if you can have a look as soon as you can as the site is live: http://www.tucco.es/

Thanks a lot in advance,

Hey Jan – my previous posts were scattered so I have a few questions that Ill clarify here:

1.) The blurbs under each circle cut off at random lengths and if they are too short, they include half of the next sentence, which I dont want. Is there a way to fix this?

2.) I have a lot of portfolios – over 50. When they go over the portfolios per page limit, the go into separate into pages. The issue is that the categories only sort each page – for example, a graphic design portfolio on the second page will only sort under graphic design if Im looking at page 2. Is there a way to have all pages sorted at once? Or, if possible, have a “load more function” where 8 or 12 are initially visible?

3.) Whenever I have parent pages, the child pages have a 404 error. For example, if I have art, and then paintings under the art page, the paintings page will not load. Is there something Im missing here?

4.) (really sorry there are so many – i probably should hire someone to help me) Is there a css code to center the menu in the center of the page?

Sorry for all the questions! Im just trying a new project thats leaving me with a few issues. Love the theme though!

Thanks.

janintia

Hello toxton,

1.) Currently, the portfolio blurb is an excerpt of 12 words from the “Information about the project” content. You can change the number of words to display by opening portfolio.php from wp-content/themes/morphis/inc/ folder and then searching for three instances of these line of code:

<p><?php echo strip_tags(truncateWords($info_desc, 12, "")); ?></p>

and then replace the number “12” with the number of words you prefer.

Or if you would prefer to just hide the blurb, you can do so by entering these block of code in the Morphis Theme Options > General Settings > Custom CSS textarea:

#recent-works .portfolio-data p {
  display: none;
}

There is also another way to perfectly control the blurb under the portfolio items on the home page. You can do this:

a.) Open functions.php file from wp-content/themes/morphis/ folder and then look for this line of code:

'description' => __('A Custom Post Type for creating portfolio items', 'morphis'),

and then under it, you’ll see this line of code:

'supports' => array( 'title', 'thumbnail' ),

b.) Replace that line of code with this one:

'supports' => array( 'title', 'thumbnail', 'excerpt' ),

This will add an “excerpt” text area on the “Edit” page of the portfolio items.

c.) So, navigate to the “Edit” page of either one of your portfolio items and then you will now see at the bottom of the page the “excerpt” textarea box where you can input the exact wordings/blurb you would like to show on under the portfolio items on your home page.

d.) Lastly, to display these excerpts under each items, you need to edit the portfolio.php from wp-content/themes/morphis/inc/ folder:

Search for the three instances of this line of code:
<p><?php echo strip_tags(truncateWords($info_desc, 12, "")); ?></p>

and then replace it with this one:

<p><?php echo str_replace( 'Read the rest', '', strip_tags( get_the_excerpt()) ); ?></p>

2.) Sorry, but unfortunately, the theme does not have a “load more” function for loading dynamically the portfolio items. If you need to have all the portfolio items sorted at once, then the numbered pagination shouldn’t be needed and all the items should be in one page.

3.) Have you recently change the Permalink Settings? Which Permalink Setting are you currently using? Can you try going to the Settings > Permalinks page and try saving the settings again?

4.) Here’s how to center the logo and have the menu under it also centered:

a.) Open header.php file and search for this line of code:

<div class="five columns alpha">

replace it with this one:

<div class="">

b. ) Next search for this line of code in the same file:

<div id="nav-container" class="eleven columns omega">
<div id="nav-container" class="">

c.) Now head on to the WordPress dashboard and place the following block of code in the Custom CSS textarea under the General Settings tab of the Morphis Theme Options panel:

header#branding .logo {
   display: block;
   height: auto;
   line-height: auto;
}

header#branding .logo img {
   margin: auto;
}

nav#access .menu {
   float: left;
}

header#branding .container-frame {
   margin-bottom: 20px;
}

#nav-container nav ul li {
  margin-right: 1em;
  padding-right: 0.2em;
  margin-left: 0;
  padding-left: 0;
}

header#branding .logo {
   display: block;
   height: auto;
   line-height: auto;
}

header#branding .logo img {
   margin: auto;
}

nav#access .menu {
   float: left;
}

header#branding .container-frame {
   margin-bottom: 20px;
}

#nav-container nav ul li {
  margin-right: 1em;
  padding-right: 0.2em;
  margin-left: 0;
  padding-left: 0;
}

header#branding nav#access {
text-align: center;
}

header#branding nav#access ul.menu ul {
margin-left: -70px;
}

header#branding nav#access ul.menu {
display: inline-table;
float: none;
}

header#branding nav#access ul.menu > li {
display: inline;
}

#nav-container nav ul li {
margin-left: 0.5em;
margin-right: 0.5em;
padding: 0;
}

#nav-container nav ul li ul > li a {
text-align: left;
}

Thanks and I appreciate that you love the theme. :)

As always – your response was wonderfully detailed and helpful. I bought the theme 2 years ago and you’re still answering questions. Seriously man – thats insane customer service. Seriously appreciate it.

I just have one question regarding your answer to #4 – Im more looking to have a splash page that ONLY has the centered logo/menu and then reverts back to the classic menu after a choice. The answer seems to change this universally throughout the theme. If this is terribly complicated – no worries, you’ve answered enough as it is.

Regardless – thank you so much for answering all of my questions.

(I really wish you could edit your comments on this site) But I tried the excerpt method and the box showed up in the portfolio edit page but blurb did not show up on the actual site itself. I followed it word for word – is there something Im missing?

I am so sorry for all the questions! This one is actually a real tech issue and not just “how do i do this” and my last question.

Ive looked everywhere and I cant find a solution: everytime I use the export morphis function, i get “ERROR: This is not a valid feed template.”

I reinstalled the theme and got the same thing. I tried importing the URL that I copied from the export section and that didnt do anything at all.

What’s going on?

janintia

Hello toxton,

Sorry I wasn’t able to notice this issue. Here’s the fix:

1.) Open functions.php file from the wp-content/themes/morphis/ folder, and then search for this line of code:

if( is_admin() ) {
    get_template_part('theme', 'options');
}

And replace it with this one:

//if( is_admin() ) {
    get_template_part('theme', 'options');
//}

2.) Then, at the same file, go to the very bottom of the file and then just before the ending ”?>” tag, place this block of code:

remove_action( 'init', 'pf_setup_theme_options', 0 );
add_action( 'init', 'pf_new_setup_theme_options', 0 );
function pf_new_setup_theme_options() {
    if( !is_admin() ) {
        $theme_data_getter = wp_get_theme();
        $opt_name = str_replace(" ", "_", strtolower($theme_data_getter->get('Name')));
        global $NHP_Options;
        // get all options
        $NHP_Options = get_option( $opt_name );

        global $nhp_opt_obj;
        $args = array();
        $args['opt_name'] = $opt_name;
        $nhp_opt_obj = new NHP_Options( array(), $args, array() );
    }
}

3.) Lastly, open theme-options.php file from the wp-content/themes/morphis/ folder and then search for this block of code:

global $NHP_Options;
$NHP_Options = new NHP_Options($sections, $args, $tabs);

and then replace it with this one:

if( is_admin() ) {
    global $NHP_Options;
    $NHP_Options = new NHP_Options($sections, $args, $tabs);
}
