I’ve added some custom css to get the header how I’d like it (see below) but now the page break line under the header is in the wrong position, how do I move it up or the page content down? see http://www.fabuloushairbychloe.co.uk/?page_id=395 for example of problem.

Thanks

nav#access ul li a { text-align: right; } header#branding { margin: -30px 0; } header nav .menu { margin-top: 85px; }

header#branding .container-frame { margin-bottom: 30px; max-height: -500px; } #main-slider .divider { display: none; }

Here’s the code from your Custom CSS that is responsible for that:

header#branding {
margin: -30px 0;
}

This means that the top margin and the bottom margin is -30px. Thus, the content is pushed up. So you need something like this instead:

header#branding {
margin: -30px 0 0;
}

how do i move the content of the website up so there is less background showing at the top please?

Thanks

#wrapper {
margin-top: 0;
}

lovely thank you

You’re always welcome. :)

In the drop down menu, the sub menu text “weddings” is too far over to the right compared with the other text of the sub menu options. Why would this be? I tried deleting the page and recreating it and adding it again to the menu but its still not displaying properly.

if you go to www.fabuloushairbychloe.co.uk and hover over services you will see what I mean.

You can add this Custom CSS code in Morphis Theme Options > General Settings > Custom CSS textarea:

#nav-container nav ul li:last-child a {
padding-right: 12px;
}

fantastic, that has fixed it, thank you!

Just purchased this theme and it is beautiful! I have a couple of questions right out of the gate.

1. I would like to add a custom image to the header which on your theme appears to be called the #top-section .sixteen { BUT it is cutting off at the padding, I would like the image to cover the full wrapper from left to right. Is there a way to code that? I tried using the background image coding, but it is not working… If I apply the image to the wrapper – it keeps repeating down the page. Any help on this would be great…

2. Is there a way to remove the tags that are showing on the blog page under the date? I use a lot of tags for my posts and it looks a bit busy with all of the tags showing.

3. I would like to use both the twitter line and twitter widget however, I am getting an error for both of these like this: Fatal error: Cannot use object of type stdClass as array in /homepages/6/d178771086/htdocs/wp-content/themes/morphis/api/twitter/twitter.php on line 96.

That should be all for now. My site is on maintenance mode right now due to the issues, if you need my login information to see these problems for yourself – just let me know.

Thank you – Brandi

Hello Brandi,

Thank you for choosing the theme! :)

1.) To prevent repeating image using the “background” property, you use its “no-repeat” attribute. More info about background-repeat property here. So, if you have a background property like this:

background: url(http://yoursite.com/path-to-image/image.jpg);

Then, you would add a “no-repeat” attribute to prevent repeating of the image like so:

background: url(http://yoursite.com/path-to-image/image.jpg) no-repeat;

Now, the padding on the “top section” that cuts off the image are really paddings from #top-section .container. So, here’s a CSS for removing these paddings but the layout will still remain:

#top-section .container {
 padding: 0;
 width: 1040px;
 max-width: 100%;
}

.social-container {
 margin: 0 auto;
 display: block;
 width: 100%!important;
}

#top-section .social-icons {
 padding-right: 40px;
}

2.)

For Blog list:
.page-template-template-blog-php .tag-links {
display: none;
}
For Single Blog Posts:
.single-post .single-post-meta li:nth-child(4) {
display: none;
}

3.) Great, you already fixed this issue. Sorry about this, I have very minimal documentation about the Twitter app of the theme.

4.) To have your slider span full width, you can head on to the Morphis Theme Options > Skins, Styles & Fonts panel. And then look for the Make Slider Boxed checkbox option. Make sure this checkbox is “unchecked” so that the slider will be full-width.

5.) I don’t really know the cause of this error but you can try these steps to solve the issue:

a. Open wp-content/themes/morphis/inc/shortcodes/tinymce/config.php file.

b. At the second line of the file (just after <?php), add this block of code:

/**
 * Get LayerSider Slides
 *
 * @since 1.0.0
 * @uses $wpdb
 */
function get_layerslider_list() {

    // Get WPDB Object
    global $wpdb;
    $layerslides = array();

    // Table name
    $table_name = $wpdb->prefix . "layerslider";

    // Get sliders
    $sliders = $wpdb->get_results( "SELECT * FROM $table_name
                                        WHERE flag_hidden = '0' AND flag_deleted = '0'
                                        ORDER BY date_c ASC LIMIT 100" );

    // Iterate over the sliders
    foreach($sliders as $key => $item) {
        $layerslides[$item->id] = $item->name;
    }

    return $layerslides;

}

Hi Jan,

Thank you so much for your quick response and help. Most of this has been sorted.

The only issue I have left that is very serious, because I need to use columns is the Shortcode issue. I added the coding to the file that you asked me to and the error did go away, however I still can not use the shortcodes. There is now a box that says insert shortcodes, but there are no options there. Here is a screenshot of how it looks when I click shortcodes/columns http://brandipowell.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/Shortcodebox.jpg When I click the insert shortcode button, nothing happens.

Any other ideas on a fix? OR can you just give me the manual list of shortcodes for columns? I can insert them by typing them in? I tried several of the standard column shortcodes, but they don’t work on your theme.

Thanks so much again for your help, Brandi

Hi Brandi,

I apologize for the late response as I wasn’t able to check immediately my messages. Here’s how to use column shortcodes of theme:

1.) First off, the column shortcode syntax is this:

"column width name"_column

or

"column width name"_column_alpha

or

"column width name"_column_omega
The available column width name are:
one_third
two_thirds
one
two
three
four
five
six
seven
eight
nine
ten
eleven
twelve
thirteen
fourteen
fifteen
sixteen

2.) For example, I wanted to have 3 equal columns in a full width page. This is what my shortcodes would look like:

[section_clear]
[one_third_column_alpha]
Advanced callbacks allow further customization through end user created functions/hooks. For additional information regarding parameters supplied to these callbacks, see parameter object details directly below the following table.
[/one_third_column_alpha]

[one_third_column]
 Advanced callbacks allow further customization through end user created functions/hooks. For additional information regarding parameters supplied to these callbacks, see parameter object details directly below the following table.
[/one_third_column]

[one_third_column_omega]
Advanced callbacks allow further customization through end user created functions/hooks. For additional information regarding parameters supplied to these callbacks, see parameter object details directly below the following table.
[/one_third_column_omega]
[section_clear]

Please note carefully that the first column uses the _alpha suffix and the last column uses the _omega which denotes respectively the beginning and end of a row.

3.) So another example would be a two-third width and a one-third width in one row which would look like this:

[section_clear]
[two_thirds_column_alpha]
Advanced callbacks allow further customization through end user created functions/hooks. For additional information regarding parameters supplied to these callbacks, see parameter object details directly below the following table.
[/two_thirds_column_alpha]

[one_third_column_omega]
 Advanced callbacks allow further customization through end user created functions/hooks. For additional information regarding parameters supplied to these callbacks, see parameter object details directly below the following table.
[/one_third_column_omega]
[section_clear]

4.) Another thing to note is that the full-width page of the theme has a column width of 16. So, for example, I wanted to have 3 columns in one row with variable widths. Lets say, the first column should span a width of 9 columns. The second spans a width of 3 columns and the last one has 4 columns. Thus, 9 + 3 + 4 = 16 columns. Our shortcode should look something like this:

[section_clear]
[nine_columns_alpha]
Advanced callbacks allow further customization through end user created functions/hooks. For additional information regarding parameters supplied to these callbacks, see parameter object details directly below the following table.
[/nine_columns_alpha]

[three_columns]
Advanced callbacks allow further customization through end user created functions/hooks. For additional information regarding parameters supplied to these callbacks, see parameter object details directly below the following table.
 [/three_columns]

[four_columns_omega]
Advanced callbacks allow further customization through end user created functions/hooks. For additional information regarding parameters supplied to these callbacks, see parameter object details directly below the following table.
 [/four_columns_omega]
[section_clear]

I hope these instructions can be helpful.

Hi Jan,

Is there any way to add the Instagram social media icon without reinstalling the theme?

Thanks!

Hello tristia,

I apologize for the very delayed response.

Please refer to this online documentation for Morphis which details instructions on how you can add your own social media icon within the theme without updating the whole theme -> http://kb.pastelfriday.com/morphis/how-can-i-add-another-social-icon/

Hi Jan,

Thanks for your help! I followed the instructions to the T and double-checked my code several times, and the icon still doesn’t show up. I did successfully install the text box field option, and uploaded the icon in the proper folder. When I activate it I do get the added icon on top (i.e. the space for it, as well as the name and the link – which all work), but the icon itself does not show up. I saved the icon as a .png, both interlaced and not interlaced, based on the psd in the latest version. Somehow it’s as though it is not there or not being recognised. Can you help?

Here a screenshot for your reference: http://www.meryemyildiz.com/shhh/screenshot.jpg And here is my icon, also for your reference: http://www.meryemyildiz.com/wp-content/themes/morphis/images/icons/mono-light/instagram.png

Is there a problem with my icon? Perhaps you can send me an Instagram icon and I can try with yours?

Thanks again!

Hi Jan,

Nevermind—I fixed it!

Cheers.

Hey guys! Thanx for a beautiful theme. I’m makin a blog for a friend now. And she wants a header picture on the blog page (the blog page is the entire site), like a static slider with one picture. And no logo

Is that possible?

thanx for support!

janintia

Hello Chris,

Thank you for choosing the theme :) I apologize for the very delayed response.

1.) To delete the logo, you can do this:

a. Open header.php file and then look for this block of code and remove it:

<div class="five columns alpha">
            <div class="container-frame">
                <!-- HEADER LOGO -->
                <?php

                    if( $options_morphis['logoUpload'] != '' && isset($options_morphis['logoUpload']) ) {
                        $site_logo = '<img src="'. $options_morphis['logoUpload'] .'" alt="logo" id="img-logo" />';
                    } else {
                        $site_logo = get_bloginfo( 'name' );
                    }
                ?>
                <div class="logo"><a href="<?php echo esc_url( home_url( '/' ) ); ?>" title="<?php echo esc_attr( get_bloginfo( 'name', 'display' ) ); ?>" rel="home" id="logo"><?php echo $site_logo; ?></a></div>
                <span id="site-description"><?php bloginfo( 'description' ); ?></span>
            </div>
        </div>

b. Then look for this line of code in the same line:

<div id="nav-container" class="eleven columns omega">

and then replace it with this:

<div id="nav-container" class="">

2.) Then, to add a header picture atop the blog, you need to do this:

a. Open template-blog.php and then look for this code:

<!-- START BLOG MAIN -->

and then add the following line of code just below it:

<img src="http://yoursite.com/path_to_your_image.jpg" style="margin-bottom: 30px;"/>

Please note that you need to replace the URL from the above code to the URL of your image that you need to display.

Hi Jan,

2 Questions:

1 – As I can add the icon and the phone number in the upper oarte website? Example image red circle.

2-How I can slide down the main menu of the website? Example blue rectangle image.

Thank you.

janintia

Hello felipe,

1.) Sorry, but I really do not do specific customizations. You need to hire someone to do these specific customizations for you. But I can point to you which file to edit to add those icon and phone numbers in the upper page of your website. You can add those by editing the social-links.php which you can find inside the inc/ folder of the theme.

2.) You can use this to add top margins on the menu to slide it down:

#access .menu {
margin-top: 15px;
}

Hi Jan,

Firstly, I hope you and your family and friends are safe and well in the wake of Typhoon Haiyan.

Jan, I am trying to activate the Portfolios section on the homepage, but it just shows the spinning “loading” icon.

Screen Capture… http://home.cogeco.ca/~mindflaretech/Morphis-PortfolioSection-Spinner.jpg

I have one test portfolio in a Portfolio Category called “Referrals”. This is set to display on the homepage.

I am running WP 3.7.1, Morphis 2.0.1.

What might I be doing incorrectly?

Thank you.

Hello ecalm,

Thank you for your concern with our safety and all the Filipinos that were struck by Typhoon Haiyan. However, we were very lucky as the typhoon did not directly hit our area.

Can you try adding a sample image on the Featured Image box on your one test portfolio item? That might solve the issue.

Jan - On the homepage, I’m using the “portfolio” area to link my Services (I like the round pictures!).

Hi Jan – I don’t see any “icon-view” text on the portfolio.php file to delete! Can you be more specific please? thanks!

janintia

Hello Stacey,

Are you sure you have opened the portfolio.php file that is located inside wp-content/themes/morphis/inc/ folder?

I suggest using the “Find” function on your text editor so you could easily find the texts. I believe there are “12” instances of “icon-view” text in that file.

Here is an example of line of code in the portfolio.php file which includes the “icon-view” text:

<a class="icon-view" href="<?php echo $featured_image; ?>" rel="prettyPhoto" title="<?php the_title(); ?>"></a>

So, if we remove the “icon-view” text, you’ll be left with this code:

<a class="" href="<?php echo $featured_image; ?>" rel="prettyPhoto" title="<?php the_title(); ?>"></a>

Thank you Jan – that helped and worked!

Hi Jan - Another question about the “Portfolio” section on the Homepage. How can I make the content area for the description (underneath the title) bigger so that it will show more than 2 lines of text?

Default-user

Hi Jan – thank you for your response… but I think you misunderstood the question. I understand that directly below the Portfolio pictures on the homepage is a TITLE that is linked to the page. That’s not my question. UNDERNEATH the linked title is a description that is populated by the “Information about the project” section of the portfolio page. It’s this content area that I’d like to make bigger on the homepage to allow more text. My “information about the project” is getting cut off on the homepage. See http://clients.marketingbeach.com/beautybee/

2. I’d like to be able to make the portfolio pictures (that I’m using as Services) a smaller diameter. How can I make them smaller?

thanks for your help Jan!!!!

janintia

Hi Stacey,

1.) Sorry about that, i did misunderstood the question. The default setting for the number of words to display for the “Information about the project” is only 12. This is because it shows only the excerpt of the portfolio item. To increase this, here’s what you can do:

a. Open portfolio.php from under wp-content/themes/morphis/inc/ folder and then search for three instances of this line of code in that file:

<p><?php echo strip_tags(truncateWords($info_desc, 12, "")); ?></p>

b. And then replace the number “12” in all of the three instances to any number of words you like to display, so you would have like a line of code like this:

<p><?php echo strip_tags(truncateWords($info_desc, 45, "")); ?></p>

As you can see from the above code, I replace “12” with “45” if I want to display 45 words for the excerpt of the portfolio item.

2.) You can refer to the online article in the Morphis Knowledgebase site here -> http://kb.pastelfriday.com/morphis/how-can-i-make-the-images-from-recent-work-section-in-the-home-page-smaller/ to make the images in your “services” area smaller.

Hi the mobile version of the portfolio doesnt seem to be working properly – on some of them when you click on the portfolio name it doesnt show the photos within that portfolio http://www.fabuloushairbychloe.co.uk/portfolio-4-columns/

also the accordians arent displaying properly either on the mobile version, please see http://www.fabuloushairbychloe.co.uk/faq/

janintia

Hi meldfarmer,

1.) I’ve checked your “Gallery” page on your site and two of the items from that page which are “Wedding Photo Shoot” and “Manor House Photoshoot” takes a very long time load. This is particularly because of the images that they are loading which have very large file sizes when either one of these items are clicked and loads its contents. This means that the portfolio will eventually loads its contents but it will take a very long time because of its file sizes. I took note of the image file sizes that have very large files:

a. vicky-bw.jpg – 8,140 KB b. blowdry-hairstyle-emma.jpg – 6,726 KB c. Ella_Mel_edit.jpg – 4,673 KB d. jo.jpg – 7,389 KB e. side-hairstyle-dani.jpg – 14,583 KB f. vicky-full.jpg – 12,573 KB g. wedding-boot.jpg – 15,656 KB

Typically, an ideal file size for web images should be around 300 KB to 600 KB. Especially, that users will be viewing your site on a mobile device, it is a good practice to reduce the image file size for much faster loading.

There are many online “image compressor” around the web that you can use, specifically look for JPEG optimizers. Here’s one: http://jpeg-optimizer.com/ or just search for “jpeg compressor online” on google.

2.) Fix for accordion on mobile version :

#accordion .accordion-button a {
height: auto!important;
}

Hello Sonoja,

The theme is already mobile-friendly as it functions as a responsive site which adapts to the screen sizes which it is being viewed.

I see that you’re using the 1.6 version of the theme. The latest releases of the theme has a feature on the “Theme Options” panel that which you can switch off the “responsive” feature of the theme. I suggest you update the theme but take note that you have to make a backup of your files before updating as I see that your site is already heavily customized.

hi please can you tell me how I can change the colour of buttons when you roll over them from yellow to another colour.

And change the contact form submit buttons from yellow please.

Thanks

janintia

Sorry, but what you’re asking is already a customization job which will take time.

Anyways, you can do this by using CSS. I can give you the CSS selector for the buttons:

For example: A yellow button that turns red when hovered:

.button.yellow {
background: yellow;
}
This is the code for when it is hovered:
.button.yellow:hover {
background: red;
}
