HA Ben.. I see the blog filter.. I was looking for the blog posting functionality!!.. No super big deal, was just wondering if you had something in the pipeline..

One other Item.. I was trying to switch out the TopUp light-box out with first Pretty Photo, and then with Shadowbox. Both of these actually broke, and did not work. I looked for hrs, but cannot figure out why. Are you able to take a look at that? Are you able to plug in one of these without them breaking? Do you know if there are compatibility issues?

Even TopUp is not playing nice, when I add a form to it..

Hi Aristide,

I can’t see any reason why the other jquery popup’s wouldn’t work. Are you trying to use a different one because you can’t get top-up to have a contact form in it? Are you using AJAX to pull in the contact form?

There should be no compatibility issues as the template is HTML CSS and Javascript, nothing special. I’ve emailed you directly to see what I can do, but when it comes to changing major functionality such as the pop up scripts, it takes quite a bit of time to get them working then test them through major browsers including IE6 .

Kind regards,

Ben

Hi Adam,

Specific filters work with the index page only, the other pages are for none Javascript support. Simply click the navigation at the top of the page the index page.

Great template, I have two questions before purchasing:

1. I see mentioning of version 1.7 in the FAQ , is that the current file or upcoming? if the later, will it be soon?

2. Is there documentation on setting up the blog? I have never added blogs to html files before, so I’d need some instructions.

Hi Louis,

The next version is still under development. I can’t see it coming out for a while. As for the blog instructions. This is purely an HTML CSS template. There is no dynamic content besides the items such as twitter feeds/videos which are pulled in via Javascript.

There are many great CMS ’s out there which this template can be used with for blogging. I personally use expression engine, but they all have varying ways of being set up.

There are no specific instructions for setting up a blog, the best thing to do is to do research into your preferred blogging tool. There is normally a great deal of documentation to do with the major blog/cms tools.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Ben! I pretty much figured it’s mostly html/css, but figured I’d ask in case you do have something within the template that can import blogs. I’ve heard of Expression Engine but haven’t checked it out yet, I was told by a friend who said I’d like it…my php knowledge is very limited.

Hi Louis, Glad to hear your sorted. Expression engine is great. Not a great deal of PHP knowledge needed for initial set up (unlike WP) but the tag’s for drawing in content do take a while to master.

I bought this theme for a client to use. However they are partial to Wordpress and we’ve abandoned the use of this which is unfortunate because it’s a beauty.

Any plans for WP migration in the future?

Hi Cheffley,

Thank you for your nice comments. Word press theme is under development, but I’m currently under so many deadlines at the moment I wouldn’t hold your breath for a release in the near future!

Absolutely love the template! One question though: I would like to use it for a photography website with each “project” item being actually a portfolio of photos. There would be a photo displayed on the main page as an introduction to the portfolio but how hard would it be to then link to a gallery when we click on it? (instead of just opening the photo in a pop-up)

Thanks!

Hi got light. This shouldn’t be too much of a problem, if your using a cms like expression engine you’d simply remove the JavaScript for the popups and replace it in your cms template with a link to your single gallery page.

Nice work however there is a very significant problem.

How can the site/index open to another page/filter and not default to filter ALL ? Please let me know as this makes or breaks this product.

Thank You

Hi bjsiv,

There is not option in the template as default to change your standard filter. I would recommend taking a look at the onload.js file, under the masonry snippet. Masonry is the framework to which there filtering and animation for the template is based. There is some great documentation on it’s site (just google masonry jquery).

I’m sorry to say that there is not an easier answer. The template is built as is. As with all templates you download it’s can’t be everything to everyone. Hope that Ive pointed you in the right direction and look forward to you finding a solution. When you do, let us know and I’ll add it into the next build.

Hello,

Excellent template.

I have a small question :

How do I display a tab when loading a page. Like I want to make a ‘home’ tab that will display only when site loads and then clicking on other tabs display the associated content. By default your template displays all tabs; how can I achieve this ?

Thanks !

Hi Unityweb,

This would require a little jquery wizardry. If your Jquery’s up to scratch you should be able to make a call to auto filter on page load. I’ll have a little look into it for you, but if you pose this question on a couple of places such as http://stackoverflow.com/ they should be able to come too your aid a little faster as they prowl in greater numbers over there so I hear.

Hi, is there a way we can remove the drop shadow on each box for a more two-dimensional look? If so, can you give us a general idea of the steps?

Thank you & love the template.

Hi bcworkshop,

The simplest way is to find the curl.jpg image in the images folder. Change this to all white with a slight grey bottom and resave it. This will replace the page curl image. You can change this image to whatever you wish as long as it remains the same proportions.

Hope this helps.

Hi Ben, I am working on your Multiply website template, I can’t figure out how the message session works. How can I determine the destination of the messages that sent by the visitors? Should I put in my email adress somewhere? or it links to a message page? Please advise.

Many thanks, Zoie

Hi Zoieso,

Thank you for purchasing multiply. The multiply template is purely a HTML CSS JS template. The form will require linking up to a content management system, or hosting a PHP mail script on your server.

There are many tutorials which will help you set up the form with a PHP script, just google “setting up a contact form using PHP ”. The form itself is a simple shell which just carries styling. There is no live functionality behind it as default, because there are multiple ways of setting up a contact form, all methods require server sides scripts.

Hope this helped. Let me know how you get on.

Hi Ben, writing to you from Brazil !

Excellent work of yours, nevertheless, I’m struggling to make the contact form work :(

I’m not a programmer at all, so if you have a VERY simple method I’d truly appreciate it.

I don’t know if this helps, but my website is hosted at www.bluehost.com

Any step-by-step from you or anyone reading this, I’d thank a bunch !!!!

Hi Camolez!

Thank you for your purchase! And hello from England!

Zoieso (see above) just implemented a php contact form using the templaet. I would recommend messaging him, I’m sure if you ask nicely you’ll be able to borrow his php files, or he may even point you to the tutorial he used.

If not, there are a lot of php contact form tutorials on the web. Any of them should aid you. Contact forms are a bit tricky for a complete web novice though!

Hi Dhrylanton,

You can do this quite quickly with media queries, something like this:

/* iPhone [portrait + landscape] */ @media only screen and (max-device-width: 480px) { #wrapper { width: 480px; } }

I’ve not tested it but it’ll give you an idea about what you’ll need to do.

Hi Dhrylanton,

Sorry for the slow response, media queries are css attributes. These go into your screen.css file.

Hello,

I have two requests :-)

1/ I’m trying to start the page.. using your template, with only the filtering navigation showing.. thus adding a class “hidden” to each of the “articles”..

However when I do this and then click a “nav menu item” it does not respond/trigger.. it does respond only when one clicks another menu item.. from then on things work out.

Why do you think the first “nav click” is not answered ? I imagine it has something to do with the “onload.js” but I don’t know what to change there to make it work.

2/ Is there a way to have a filtering applied as soon as the site is reached ? For instance in the template if I wanted only the “projects” to show as soon s the page is reached.. Hpw could I do that ?

Thanks a lot..

Hi Ianstudio,

Multiply uses the fantastic jquery code from jQuery Masonry found here: http://masonry.desandro.com/

Sadly the main code base has now been retired with a new base called Isotope developed. The creators have also removed the category filtering examples which would have made this a lot easier!

Sorry for any inconvenience caused because of this.
