Hey Bebel,

I noticed that Users set to Contributor or Author cannot view the MyMagazine Options on the Add New Post page. It just shows the “MyMagazine Options” title with an empty drop down. How can I fix this, as I’d like to have different authors for my site.

that is weird, because it should only display it for users that have the “edit_themes” right. I will look into that!

Hi,

you’d have to upload a custom background image, replace the blue header with a transparent graphic or simply remove it, and replace the logo/logo.png with your own file.

If you need help with that, we can do a customization for you.

I’m re-working my entire site (updating what I had already done with your theme) and I have a question;

I would like to have the images in the Slider be clickable. Specifically, I’d like them to launch a lightbox for a youtube/vimeo video.

How can this be done?

Yes I was referring to the full size slider. I’ve worked around it and I’m happy with what I’ve come up with.

Maybe on an update in the slider menu there could be a dialogue box for a link.

Hey,

yes, can be done. Please open global.css and search for ”.downloadBox” (should be in around line 847).

Change the width there to the value you want:

width: 300px;

=> for example:

width: 240px;

Please note the smaller the value gets the shorter the title can be

I would like to not have the title showing on Pages. I’ve tried .contentBox { display:none !important;} but of course the entire content disappears.

For doing this, you’ll have to open pages/page.php and delete line 6:

 <h1 class="left marginLeft10 marginTop10"><a href="&lt;?php the_permalink() ?&gt;">&lt;?php the_title() ?&gt;</a></h1>

Then the title won’t be shown on the post page.

If you also wanted to hide the author and date, delete the following three lines, too:

 <span class="author">
      <?php the_date() ?> by <?php the_author() ?>
  </span>

Thanks Babel. I found those lines (on page and post) and remarked them out before I posted the above message. That’s when I panicked and thought I caused the problem with IE.

HELP !

All my titles don’t show up in IE. I built everything using FireFox then I went to see it in IE and no titles were being displayed. I even when so far as to uninstall WP (using Fantastico) then starting from a completely clean/new WP.

I’ve done a little modification to global.css but that was only after I noticed the titles missing. I added the following at the bottom of global.css;

.search { display:none !important;}

.author { display:none !important;}

.intro { display:none !important;}

.slideshowlink { display:none !important;}

body { background-attachment:fixed; background-position:center top; }

In fact, after the clean WP install and the new upload of My Magazine and install, the sample posts were missing the titles in IE.

Did a little google search and ended up in the forms here on themeforest!

Here’s the excerpt;

You can fix the problem in under 2 minutes.

1. Go to http://cufon.shoqolate.com/generate/ and click “Download” in the top navigation.

2. Save that file as “cufon-yui.js”

3. Copy the new file to “parallelus-unite/js” replacing the one in your theme’s directory.

Hi Bebel,

I figured out my menu question.

I realized just adding a css display none didn’t actually remove the spacing allocated to it. So I found the call in the header.php and remarked it out and increased the width of the menu in the global.css.

Yeah…more room for top level menu links!

Hi,

Thanks for your interest:

1. You can put videos in the vertical feature slider, but you cannot make them start automatically. You can not put videos in the big horizontal slider.

2. If you mean the background of the page: It is one graphic. Although you can change the background color directly in the wordpress backend.

Also, how is the that slider fed? is it only through recent posts or can i designate what I want there at all times?

You can add videos to the slider, yes, but not with autoplay

It is fed by recent posts of a given category.

Hi Bebel,

First of all, I love your theme! There is one thing though that I could really use some help with.

Is it possible to hide the featured image and post excerpt on single posts?

Basically on my single posts it will show the featured image (which I have been making square for the carousel but I like to use a 3:5 style for the pics in my single posts) and then the excerpt, which is automatically generated by the few few lines of the post from what I can tell.

Then, the post begins with the same words that are written in the excerpt directly above it. How would I go about removing the excerpt and featured image from single posts without affecting the way the main blog page looks? I looked in the single.php file but it looked different than my old theme and I don’t want to start editing without knowing what I’m doing.

Also, real quick, do you happen to know if there is a known compatibility issue with Tubepress? I’ve built a lot of my posts with it and it looks like I’ll probably just need to find an alternative to it. If you know of a quick fix or anything, that would be wonderful. If not, no problem.

Hi,

thanks for the nice words!

Of course you can hide the featured image and the post excerpt on single posts. You were right: in single.php you won’t find the code – thats due to our more flexible templating system in this theme.

Open pages/post.php. Remove lines 12-23 to get rid of the excerpt and the image, starting with <?php if($fullwidth): ?> and ending with the second <?php endif ?>.

About tubepress: I’ve never used it, so unfortunately I cannot tell if it will work. You should try it on a testserver before you go live

Could you tell me where I can change the height of the “featured” slider section. I believe right now you cannot go taller than 243 in height, but I want to set it to no higher than 200px. I am using it for only youtube videos and to make a youtube video fit with your maximum width that is already set at 356 (i believe) the height works out to 200px so I have about 43px of extra empty space. I just want to reduce that.

try in bebelCp/widgets/main_featured.php to replace echo '<div class="contentBox left">';</div> with echo '<div class="contentBox left" style="height: 200px">';</div> and play around with the value until you are satisfied

Every time I add the “My Simple HTML ” widget to the main page it aligns itself right in the middle of the page overlapping the sidebar and the main content area.

Also, if I try to add anything to the “text” widget is pushes clear to the left with almost no padding or margin.

How can I fix this?

The “simple html” widget was only designed for the sidebar, and the text-widget was not styled for this purpose.

You can customize them to fit right in there, or you can hire us
