The new 1.19 theme version (nerea_1_19) fails to activate. Upon activation, the screen is completely blank and all links produce the same results.

I was updating from 1.9.

Any thoughts? I didn’t see on the documentation any specific instructions as to how to update.

keeval

Hi. It´s very strange. Updating is straightforward: just upload the ZIP via the admin panel or the theme folder via FTP, and select the new version in “Appearance > Theme”.

Have you try to deactivate any plugin you are using, and activate them one by one after activating the new theme?

In particular, check if you have installed the plugins “Advanced Custom Fields” and “ACF Repeater”. These plugins were necessary in early releases of Nerea, but now are included in the theme. If you have them, deactivate and deinstall them.

I hope this helps. Let me know.

Hi! GREAT theme. I like it. Do you open for suggestion and feature request? If so, please make a “scroll to top” button. Thank you.

keeval

Hi. Thank you very much for your purchase and for your kind words. Your suggestion seems like a good idea, and I’ll be happy to include it in a future release of Nerea. In fact, I’m about to release a new theme (Kurbik) that already incorporates this functionality.

Default-user

Thank you. Waiting for the update, then.

For people who have doubt on purchasing this theme:

- The design and typography is SUPERB! They make our post easier to read, and our media (photos, pictures, videos) easier to consume for our visitors.

- The visual content editor is GREAT. It makes our job easier. No need to imagine how our post/page will looks like. No need to go back and forth between preview-edit.

- The integrated Social Sharing button is good. We don’t need special plugin just to handle Social Sharing anymore. One less plugin to deal with.

- The price is a real bargain. I have spent 2 weeks browsing the entire ThemeForest.net, searching for a theme that suit my blog. Most of the good themes will cost us 50+ USD. This one comes with ONLY 35 USD. Best value for money!

- This theme is super-easy. You don’t even need to read the documentation. But just in case you ever need it, it is well written too.

- The author is responsive. He replied to me on Sunday!

Ok, Mr. Valdenebro, you are free to use this comment for your marketing material.

Cheers! :)

Hi, Love working with the theme. Can you help me to adjust the fancybox arrows to be visible at all times, not only on hover? Is this possible? Many thanks

keeval

Hi, Thank you! There are some CSS rules that FancyBox applies on hover events:

fancybox-left:hover, #fancybox-right:hover {? visibility: visible; }

fancybox-left:hover span { left: 20px; }

fancybox-right:hover span { left: auto; right: 20px; }

I think you should add this rules, without the ”:hover”, to the child theme CSS. And you may have to add “important!” to the new rules.

I hope this helps ;)

Oh… also. How can I get single images to show up in fancybox / lightbox? I have tried adding rel=”fancybox” to

keeval

Just add “fancybox” as a class to the images. You can do that via media manager when you attach an image to your content, as explained in the help file.

One more question. Where can I adjust the slider settings? Ie speed? for slides to continue indefinitely? Thanks.

keeval

The speed slider not selectable time, but probably we include this improvement in a future version of the theme. But if you feel comfortable with JavaScript, you can modify it by changing the value directly in the line 218 of the file “style.js”. Currently, the value is 8000, that is 8 seconds. On the other hand, slides continue indefinitely until user clicks on controls. As in the previous point, feel free to change this behavior by modifying the javascript.

Love this theme.. it looks great, and it’s super easy to customize.

QUESTION: Do I have to do anything special for the search field placeholder to show? It’s not showing for me… I tried installing Codestyling Localization plugin and editing the string: no difference

keeval

Hi! Thanks for your kind words. All you have to do is write a title for the search widget. Let me know if this works :)

When I change the color of the sidebar to Red in the Color Settings in Customize, the actual sidebar color looks a dirt brown. as if it is mixing the red and black) original color together. Is this fixable so I can see a true color setting..

Default-user

Dont worry I found the Sidebar Textured Background was turned on

I have noticed that any widgets I add to the widget area are on the home page, but disappear when I look at any other page.

Should they be on all pages? If so why would they disappear.

I have the menu set to scroll so I can see all the menus on the widget area.

thanks

keeval

Hi: The widget area should be identical on any page. This sounds like there’s a JS problem in the inner pages, that prevent the widgets to be loaded. Could give me a URL where I could take a look?

Default-user

have sent you an email via your profile here. Thanks

keeval

I found it. There is a bug that prevents widgets to show when the page content is shorter than the sidebar. I’m working on fixing it, and I will upload a new release of the theme in a few hours. Thank you for your help making this theme better!

Default-user

WOW. and Thankyou for your great responses and great work

keeval

Hi again. Nerea 1.22 is ready and avaliable for download. Enjoy it ;)

Default-user

Great. have updated to new theme. And it works great now.. As I am using a child theme, I found I had to first update the css in the theme and then activate your new version, then activate my child theme again before it would show the full sidebar in all pages.

So once again you have excelled in providing support for your customers. Well done.. Pity you dont have many other themes we can choose from to buy.

keeval

Thank you very much for your kind words. I’m about to upload a new theme called Kurbik (I’m finishing the manual right now). Is much more complex and powerful than Nerea, and is based on a new visual and drag and drop framework on which I hope to build many more topics. Hope you like it!

Another question I would like to ask is… with the home page slider, i assume when we add a picture it is resized automatically to fit the space. Is there a way that we can change this to make the picture a different size.. (or even let me know where the code for it is so I can change it in a child theme)

I ask because when viewing this on a smaller screen ( like laptop) the picture is too big ( height wise) and I would like to be able to shrink it so the picture is there and also some of the words that fill in the home page..Underneath the slider area..

keeval

Hi. The slider will scale the images to fit them to the space, adjusting the width and keeping the height proportional. But it accept images of any size. Just keep in mind that it works best when all the images are the same size.

You can change this style or behavior by modifying the CSS or JS through a child theme. All files are well commented, and it will be easy for you to find in “style.css”, “media-style.css” and “style.js” the lines for the slider. Just search “slider”.

I hope this helps.

Hi, thanks for this great theme! One question, since some versions there is a gap between the navigation bar and the right side of screen, have a look: http://oi62.tinypic.com/2vke2kh.jpg How can I prevent these gap? Thanks you!

keeval

Hi, thanks for your words! Just go to the theme customizer: Appearance > Customize > Layout settings, and uncheck “Layout max width”. Let me know if this solves your problem ;)

Hi I am trying to insert some code within a page. I have used a

and inserted some images and resized them down from a large image to something smaller like width=”348” height=”260” However when I save the page and view the new update, The images are reverted back to the original size (Very large) does Nerea theme over ride any code I put in a page like that? Normally when I use a table like this, it works ok, but it isnt working now..

Thanks

keeval

Hi. May I take a look on your page? I think I could help.

Default-user

just sent you an email via the contact page here

keeval

Thanks! I´m on it ;)

keeval

Hi again. I found the problem. There is a CSS style rule forcing the images width to “auto”, in order to assure they will show OK on any device. I have avoided this problem with another technique, so that images have no longer “width: auto”. A new release of Nerea, with this bug fixed, has been sent to ThemeForest, and I hope it will be available to download in a few hours. I will send a message notifying you. Thanks for helping me making Nerea better!

keeval

You can now download the new version with the bug fixed ;)

Hi. I have another question. Firstly. I am using a child theme.

I turn off the “Hide Titles In Pages” in the Layout settings. Then I add my own Page Title and use the option of Intro in the Styles drop down of the formatting area in Visual Tab. I then get the new styled title, ( which is great) However I cant seem to remove the …........... border-top:and border-bottom

I put the line from the style.css and change it. However I see it is also in the style-editor.css written exactly the same.

If I edit both of these file, the ….... go away. But since I am using a child theme ( so when the next update is done I dont loose all my settings) I can only add that line once. So it looks like to me that your .css is over riding what I am putting in my Child /css

Whew hope you understand this.

So how can I remover the …..... in the Intro Style

Thanks

keeval

Hi again. You shoudn’t have any problems removing the dotted border in the front-end. Just use the “style.css” in your chid theme. Change editor styles, however, is more complicated because as you say there is a specific style sheet for the back-office, and it’s not overwritten with the child theme styles. This is a point to improve, and I’m working on it since right now to release a new theme version that fixes it.

Default-user

Ok.. As I am not too good with CSS and can take a line and play around with it to change what I want, all I did was copy your code and then remove the border-top:and border-bottom etc. But it seems as there are 2 files with the same code in it, then one of them is over-riding my CSS code in my child theme.

So apart from doing that, I dont know how else I can remove the dotted lines using some other code in my Style.css…

Thanks for looking at this for me.

Maybe one day I can help you with something to return the favor for your help… Thanks

keeval

Ok, now I see what is happening. If you want to remove the border you have to override the style rule, not just remove it. The child theme stylesheet is loaded over the main theme one, so your rules add to the main rules. Just add this to your ”.intro” rule: “border:none;”. You may want to modify the intro padding as well. Just add “padding-top:0” or “padding-bottom:0” or both of them. Let me know if this solves your problem ;)

Default-user

Cant quite get it. I put this .intro rule: { border:none; } and it doesnt seem to work

Even tryed what you had but thought I had to take the ”” out of the code

keeval

I think there is something extra in your rule. You have this:

.intro rule: { border:none; }

But this is what you have to write:

.intro { border:none; }

Let’s try this.

Default-user

haha that worked. Sorry when you said

Just add this to your ”.intro” rule: “border:none;”.
I thought you meant to add the word Rule.. great I am learning..

thanks

Re footer you said several months ago this, You can add a footer line by inserting your HTML in “index.php”, just before the closing tag ” <!/#content>”. That will show your new content at the end of the scrolling area, below the post/s and the prev/next navigation

when you update the theme we will loose this. What would I add to my child theme to add some footer code to the site. Just links to pages will do for now.

thanks

keeval

Hi. In the most recent versions of Nerea we reorganized the content of each file, and now you can find that line you mention in the file “index.php”. Just add your content before the following line:

<!—/ # content ->

If you do not want to miss the change with future updates of the theme I recommend that you copy the file “index.php” to the folder of your child theme.

I hope I have helped.

Default-user

Great that worked. so in any new updates, the index.php never gets changed. Is this right? thanks.

keeval

No, I don’t thik so.

Hello Keeval.

keeval

keeval

Hola otra vez:

how can I make image slider caption centered?

keeval

In your chid theme stylesheet (“style.css”) you can add this line:

article .article-featured-slider .slide .slide-text .slide-description { text-align: center; }

This must center the slider captions.

I was curious about this one,
what is the best minimum featured image dimension? I tried using an image larger than 640×480 it become so big.
does the image stretched when it is to small?

keeval

Hi, The featured image is stretched to fill 100% of the width of the content. A good quality image is recommended. An image with 1400×600 px looks perfect on any device, but can be somewhat heavy and load slowly on mobile devices. 900×400 px is a good compromise.
